Yep, using Texa, which supports Emas very well. Had one burst a pipe and took a while to get to the bottom of, but found low centering pressure and failing calibration due to a worn out accumulator. Luckily had half an idea as emas is made by VSE which make trailer steering systems which I'm very familiar with.
@@xl447 hey buddy hope your well. I will have to have a look into the trailer system with DAF going a different route. The accumulator should hold 20 bar then drop off I think, I know DAF has a test for it which always helps with these things 😂 I'm glad you got your head round it as I don't think it's the simplest system to pick up 🫣
@TRUCK TECH UK it's all ok until someone hits the re calibrate button! VSE on trailers is a regular trouble shoot for me on Spitzer, Welgro and Airbus Industrie trailers. Very similar, but using its own integral LCD display.
A very under rated channel, you make suck good content. I'm an auto sparky my self. But haven't got Davie however the local mechanics who are the agents for DAF and other manufacturers hardly know what their doing when it comes to this stuff so I often go in and ha e a play around on the DAFs. I've never worked on rear steer however as it very uncommon in the types of trucking industries I work in and let alone New Zealand
Thank you for your reply 👌😎 I'm glad you enjoy the content ☺️ Sounds like these other DAF agents don't implement any sort of diagnostic methods. By all means send them here 😂. Your lucky you haven't had to work on these rear steer systems BUT the new system is amazing and will be introduced to Next Generation DAF veicles which have a steering lift axle
Thanks for the comment buddy! I don't see alot of EMAS faults so they must be getting something right! Glad you're enjoying the content - nice to hear my work is appreciated in the Netherlands (the DAF motherland!)
Ahhh good old EMAS ..I remember when this first came out ,mandatory training wasn't a thing ,and we just had to try and figure it out ..Sadly it doesn't always centre when it faults ,andalso doesn't always put a warning on when there is ..Had one driving in a straight line steering wheel sat perfect ,did a round about and when on the straight steering wheel sat off by 30 degrees or so ,then you would get a snap and after about 100yards and you straightened the wheel ..That 100 yards you where crabbing as the rears never straightened ,no warnings ,Forgive if i get the valve wrong but SP011 was the culprit the one with 4 bolts ..When diagnoising it now days i start with the code obviously ,then it is usually a mattere of checking the resistance if ok check to see if it's shorting to earth, and it is usually the valve or a faulty wire as i work my way back to the bulkhead there is generally a short to earth somewhere ...Had a brand new veh with the new system brought in customer jumped it .after a look at the diagrams turns out it;s fuse is at the pos batt post ..EMAS seemed to be made overly complicated because they could i think it was TRW did the system...the new system tail lift motor and a couple of sensors lol
I'm lucky to have had the training on EMAS and EHS by Mark Keen. I think they iorned alot of the issues out in the end (front angle sensors and wiring harnesses) I find the diagnosis good on RMI now, I know it didn't have much along time ago like you said. Yes sp11 controls the fluid control for the steering left right ect that use to get full of water and go slow turning 😂 I've had the system kick the truck sideways at about 45km/h as some one fitted the front angle sensor wrong so when the system self centered it produced the wrong straight ahead position. Same sort of fault I had with EHS I had a loose battery connect for the pump supply so kept getting faults on EHS. Brilliantly simple system though, all integrated with a reversible pump 😎👌
@@TRUCKTECHUK I did EMAS with John Sellors lol When they had us done for the MY17 update the canadian lad did a bit on the EHS ,he came from komatsu i think so he was good but as he knows hydraulics ,but started going on about the technical drawings of the valves that engineers use . @norb0254 we were on about John sellors the other day in work and how it's all changed. The Canadian guy is John also lol I find he goes into great detail on stuff which is what you want really, don't generalize how things work, I've RMI for that 😂 Why didn't they just take the compressor head off?? @@TRUCKTECHUK They never took the compressor head off ,as they never looked at RMI and did what they thought was correct..Luckily i haven't had anything to do with the new generation and long may it continue,,,Had a lad try to find the ethernet cable on one ,dont think he found it lol...Years ago i would have enjoyed visiting dealers ,but nowday all my jobs are generally x y & z have been on it already ..Think there is a traxton ,just left anothe shop then towed to us home dealer is an hour away ,but towed to us ,apparently it had a air pressure fault ,they changed the front module for the air ..apparently still has a warning davie being davie it now wont talk to vehicle ,,if you put it in gear it shoots forward ,like the clutch needs a calibration ,but really need fault code ..Guy on it pissing about hoping to be taken off it
Rear axle steer issues are also very common on the Mercedes Econic, for some reason the rear axle locks and does not turn while the front steers fine, have you any experience working on these trucks?
Got a cf with very heavy steering. The pump pressure and centralising pressure are both sitting at 20 bar. We do have a fault for centralising pressure low. Would this effect the front steer? Thanks in advance.
Hi thanks for the comment, You need to Check the circulation oil pressure for the steering if it's heavy and any kingpin issues ect. As for EMAS I'd want to confirm the pressure and centring pressures with a gauge and then check Davie for the exact figures. What fault code you have plays an important part in the diagnostic of this system. If in doubt take it to daf I'd say mate
Hi ... we have the same issue with a cf rear steer but cannot find a steering angle sensor faf tell us we have to buy the whole lot ecu and front sensor for 2.5 k can you help
Hi Jon so the part you need is 1906519 the bulletin from Daf states " Due to technical changes to EMAS sensors and incompatibility between sensor variants, always follow these instructions. When replacing a front angle sensor, a rear angle sensor or an EMAS ECU from a vehicle < week 41 2012, always replace all the sensors and the EMAS ECU with a service set" Now in my eyes, the ' < ' is a less-than-sign! So if your TRUCK is euro-5, euro-4 ect it would be less than that date and would require a service set. If it was marked '>' anything AFTER week 41 2012 would need a service set. 🙄
Hi, I have a DAF cf75 2011 with a heavy steering and atm it does not turn the front wheels and it is showing a red warning for the rear axle steering the rear helper wheels won’t move. Help!!!
After replacing the steeringvox of my Daf cf faq 2016, the steering wheel pulls slightly to one side, at 45 kmph a tap in the steering wheel and the truck drives straight again, the dealer says there is nothing wrong with it, what else can I do? Do a wheel alignment?
I have a question. I have a daf cf 2013 with a movable rear axle. For a while, the axle has not worked. I contacted the company, and they did not help me with anything. They said I have air in the pipes, and they did not solve the problem. How can you help me?
Hi, thanks for the comment. You will need access to a diagnostic system capable of reading EMAS faults to perform any rectification work. To bleed the system of Air, you will need to operate the system, and to operate the system, you will need to be able to perform diagnostics on the system. I suggest you take the vehicle to someone who can fix the system right first time
