  • well seems EURO 5 has BEEN SENT TO TEST ME once again. with a DAF LF AS-TRONIC LITE with a no gear selection issue we need to identity what was causing it, with some simple tests we can use this methodology to identify the pump is at fault.
    from here we can carry out removal, identification and replacement of the AS-TRONIC LITE powerpack unit.

    to avoid the problem with the pipes, first assemble the pipes to the gear actuator /XY actuator on top of the gearbox and afterwards assemble the central unit/power pack. It's a bit tricky to get all the 4 pipes in but you would not damage the thread of the pipe connection. Additional advice, clean the device before disassembly, hydraulic is sensitive to contamination. 🙂

    Good call that to take out the gear box .
    Saved you a lot of messing about especially with one ofvthe pipes not playing ball 👍👍👍👍

      Hey John, thanks for the comment. Yes them pipes can be a pain and I just didn't have any room! I had a Mercedes not long ago with the same issue and pipes that didn't want to play ball. I just don't have time to fight these issues anymore unfortunately 😒

      Ha ha ha 😂. I'd be so bored in tesco though 👌. I wouldn't do what I do if I liked the simple life 🫣
      The clutch was checked from what I remember, but with these clutches usually managing 600k, I think it was perfectly serviceable, so It went back in....that or the customer didn't have enough credit 😂. Andrew....thanks for watching the video buddy and for commenting 😎👍

    I’ve done quite a few of these and luckily I’ve never had to take the box out, somehow the pipes have always been reasonable. I’ve got two at the minute with the same fault. Oil level float switch, texa gives no info at all

      Hey Alan thanks for the comment. Yes it's the only one I've had to pull the box on...also the only one I've had where I can't see what I'm doing and ended up rounding a pipe off with a brake pipe spanner also 🫣.
      In regards to the float switch, I think it only runs to the ecu but I will check later with a more informative tool for you 😅

      H@@TRUCKTECHUK it does, I’ve repaired the CAN and power supplies going to the TECU as there were multiple faults and a botched “repair” where somebody has sliced through everything with a Stanley knife so now it’s all green. Never came across this before and for it to be on 2 trucks from the same company I’m a bit suspicious

    Great video mate, I also have a problem with power pack. Do you need to take out gearbox to replace pipes above a power pack? Many thanks

      Hi buddy. It's ALLL ABOUT access and perseverance.
      If you are small and nimble like an apprentice your have a chance on changing them. Some LF'S I work on don't have the same issue as this flatbed and the headboard is mounted further back making it easy to work on.

    Did the owner not ask ya to do a quick clutch plate inspection, or had it been done recently?

      Ha ha ha You can't buy a manual any more!. I heard it was more cost-effective to sell automatic-only gearboxes over the entire NGD range (XD-XB-XG) than let drivers loose with a manual 😂😂😂

      I'm in new zealand I drive a 2018 dafcf 85 with a 18 speed roadranger manual 500000 kms on the clock and still on the original clutch

      People like you are few and far between who have mechanical sympathy for a vehicle buddy 😌 most people treat company assets like they are disposable. I once fitted 2 clutches to the same VOLVO FM IN A MONTH!

    In Africa , We switch it to Manual gearbox , Delete Adblu , and i guarantee you , you will not see it in a shop again 😁😁

    How much did you pay for that powerpack?i have a cf65 with the same problem but the powerpack is too expensive

      Thanks for the comment. If you give ecodrive a ring they will do you a better price on recon unit. I'd have to check DAF as I can't remember what the cost off the top of my head.

      Hey Denis thanks for the comment. You will need some diagnostics to see if the pressure in the pump is enough for the gears to select neutral 😐

    Hi great video ours needs to go to Africa very soon but please can you tell us if we can buy new pipes direct from daf as we are struggling to get them made.also having fitted our new power-packed do we have to re pressurise the gear box or can we just fill the reservoir and hopefully start and go.many thanks.

      Hi thanks for the comment.all pipes are available from DAF but might be cheaper at iveco or Renault. If your fitting a new power pack it will req programming or the ECU swapping over from the old one. Any pipes changed will req the power pack bleeding for air in the pipes unfortunately so you will need a diagnostic computer capable of this functionality

      Hi Freddie 👋. Yes, you can buy an Android-based tablet that can bleed the system without the large price tag but if you're referring to a manual way to do it.....no unfortunately 😕

      @@TRUCKTECHUK Great video - I have just refitted the rebuilt ecu to my pack on 2012 MAN TGL. I had to remove the whole pack so air has got in. No options to bleed 2012 on Delphi but no codes and goes into gear and moves no issues. Does no codes mean I will get away without a bleed? Don't want to het stuck out on the road.

      You would have introduced air into the system so now have a combination of fluid and air in the lines. As Dave at TVD said yesterday you will need someone with diagnostics capable of doing this bleeding properly

    I have the same problem with one of this gearbox .so the owner buy a new module with pump complete. But the problem is how can I bleed the system and program it because I have a jaltest diagnostic tool..please bro....can you help me bro

      Thanks for the comment, hope you're doing well! If you can still read the old module, you can copy and paste the ECU information. That will allow you to program the new ECU. You can then use the calibration and bleeding function on Jaltest. Hope this helps buddy

    I will play captain hindsight ,that awkward shit of a pipe i fit loosely first to the powerpack then start it in the turret .and then fits the powerpack bolts loosely so i have some wiggle room ..If your showing the hero paper at least show the answers...Did it honestly calibrate first time ????

      ahoy there captain hindsight 🤣 yes I will certainly re-engineer the fitment process next time, I've never changed the pipes before for new I've always reused and never had a issue 🤷 must be the cheap Korean labourer bent it to far 😂👌
      i didn't bother with the last paper as I was to busy with all this social media junk 😂 I rechecked the video ....think it went through calibration 3 times before it was happy 🥹

      @@TRUCKTECHUK I never used to change the pipes ,now i price them anyway ,that way the customer is aware ,and i now have a stack of old ones to use just in case ..You won't get a present for not filling out the 4th paper lol...I learned that as long as you have the red transmission warning it will not complete the clutch part at the end on the pre euro 6 vehicles ..If jacking it up doesn't help i race it ,and try to start the engine and hit ok before the red warning comes up ,as it will work ok with the anber warning lol

      Not the cheapest of things are they! Makes me want to go in not bending pipes for a living 😂
      I will keep that in mind for next time, I don't change many of these power packs.....they might be old but just like the As-tronic lite gearbox they just keep working.....shame it's gone really as I have a feeling were going to get very intimate with the latest ZF powerline box if it's anything like Traxon

      You say CF and XF are trash but the CF doesn't exist anymore and the XF is now the smallest 'big cab' truck daf do! It's all changed with NGD.

      @@TRUCKTECHUK I left about 6 years ago and went to Mercedes and now plant so I haven’t a clue about the new daf’s like NGd, XG etc etc. Just always liked the simplicity of an LF, if you compare it to an atego, eurocargo, tgm they are a dream.
