This is nonsense, this is a hypoid or spiral bevel crown wheel and pinion set. The material is through hardened or case carburised high alloy material. YOU CANNOT repair this and expect it to last more than a few minutes under load. You do not understand the precision or heat treatment required for high performance power transmission. Buy a new gear set. How stupid….!!!😡😡

It won't last long like this, the idea is too simple and not strong enough. The correct way to do it should be to grind the bevel, then find a flat iron plate and use the holes to fix it, then weld it on, then remove the iron plate to fix it, and make comprehensive welding adjustments, making sure that all the broken parts are welded in place, so that the strength will be higher.

Двадцать минут - это много. Сварка выжигает углерод рядом со швом, значит свойства металла ещё изменились в худшую сторону. This conical set, as it looks, is from a train, subway, or tramway bogie, it is toothed cemented-hardened and at the end after flat and cylindrical grinding, the toothing can be seen to have HPG. There is no possibility in the world to weld something without deformations appearing. The hardened-hardened steel does not resist after welding, and the local heating from welding softens the material in the respective area. The inside and the fronts of the crown are rectified to hundredths of mm if not microns, the dents you saw on the back of the toothed crown, masked by turning and polishing with the flex, are also in the teeth, which were processed by HPG, as a result the play in the teeth will be variable and will destroy the pinion very quickly, or break the crown again in the welded area. The holes that can be seen have been honed and pinned with the hub and cannot be taken with the biax cutter, because the respective holes no longer transmit effort, the others being more loaded, will lead to the crown breaking in the area of effort. In a word, the repaired part is rejected. On a different note, what inceptor will sign for a passenger train for such a repair ?? So he's not a brilliant mechanic, he's an inept turner!!

This is hilarious! I'm not a machinist but even I know this is the biggest bodge job on earth lol Thanks for the laughs. Was funny to watch you burn up your insets on the harded gear. And turning a circular part into a oval lol.

Когда-нибудь узнают, что такое гипоидный резец. Опять же если ты умеешь нарезать обычную резьбу на станке и ты каждый день им пользуешься. Ну можно же простым резцом рано или поздно научиться строгать, поправлять зубья.

This is a good exercise in theoretical mechanics and rudimentary repair methods but there is no way this part would work beyond a few hours max. Does this country lead the world in per capita road deaths due to faulty equipment?

    • @Universal-Dilettant

      The answer is:
The screws or bolts that held the wheel in position died or came loose first!
      The gearbox is 100% junk.
The video is therefore also junk.
