True, its probably not up to manufacturer spec. but when you're in a poor country, you make do with what you have. Labor is inexpensive, but cost of materials is not. Its a waste to throw away all the other rubber that makes up the 99% of the tire. Tire manufacturers in western countries don't do this because doing these repairs are too insanely labor intensive to do economically, and quick repairs wouldn't be nearly as strong as this. Rubber was repeatedly hand shaped into the hole for hours, then the spot was vulcanized. This is a solid 2 days of work, for a tire worth less than new. But if the tire is scrap and labor is cheap... Then it makes sense for someone to do this

I can recall many years ago as an apprentice, getting a pink ticket from the large engineering company I worked at . This for operating a buff without its guard. This resulted in a fine, taken from my wages the following Friday. ❤
Love watching these videos. Just wondering, would it be possible to have a clamp on steel plate, front and back, into which you could inject molten rubber? You could place steel or kevlar matting to overlap the existing sidewall structure, then inject above and below through the steel clamped structure (thinking like a large sandwich press). Surely this would be stronger than multiple small pieces of thin rubber? And potentially a lot cheaper for nations of lesser income..?? Obviously I know very little about vulcanising, so this is meant as a question, and not a distraction from the works performed here.
Very nice job on repairing a very large expensive tire. Maybe if this happened more often instead of replacing them, we would not use so many natural resources. That repair will be fine for a long time.
I applaud him for his efforts. Cosmetic score 95. Structural integrity score 1. All that rubber he put in the hole was like using bondo. Looks good but does nothing for strength. There's a reason why this would not be an acceptable repair procedure in the United States.
This is an earthmoving tyre, never subject to high speed. So while not ideal there is still a lot of life left in a very expensive tyre. This is often done in the western world as well. Done on truck tyres as well. Generally used on trailers however.
Informative post. I did wonder how reliable patched tires are for heavy equipment. But you helped me understand that it depends a lot on how the tire is used. Thanks.

Yeah the problem isn't that the guy didn't try to make it good repair the problem is that once the sidewall is compromised the strength is gone. Would be interesting to find out how long this tire lasted before the sidewall family blew out again
Well it probably has a big, thick tube in it when mounted, I doubt it would blow out...if something happened to gouge it again in that exact spot, I suspect it would be weaker than the surrounding area and damage again more easily, but the odds of that are probably small...
This is in Pakistan. I know the video is sped up but I can decipher both Urdu (national language) being spoken and one person is speaking Pashtu. In Urdu - someone was saying it is hard work. They will keep on fixing this tire till it’s literally down to shreds.
Repairing is one thing. The most important thing is safety. I won't use a repaired tyre on my car as I don't want to take risks. It may also be unfair to other road users.

Longer than your new ev , that's for certain !
I can recall many years ago as an apprentice, getting a pink ticket from the large engineering company I worked at . This for operating a buff without its guard. This resulted in a fine, taken from my wages the following Friday. ❤
Unions are great aren’t they
Wow
@@georgepaiva7496 My friend, six finger Sam didn't like Unions either, but now he thinks they do some good with enforcing worker safety.

Hey these guys on caterpillar payroll 🇺🇸😊

Excellent work, your hand looks like you are a very skilled person.
I for one would not be near it when it's getting aired up that's for sure.

Job well done brother. God Bless you.
I didn't know that repair existed.. congratulations for the practice,,
سبحان الله وبحمد سبحان الله العظيم
This is an earthmoving tyre, never subject to high speed. So while not ideal there is still a lot of life left in a very expensive tyre. This is often done in the western world as well. Done on truck tyres as well. Generally used on trailers however.
Informative post. I did wonder how reliable patched tires are for heavy equipment. But you helped me understand that it depends a lot on how the tire is used. Thanks.
I always thought you men were lazy. Because most of the time see you as owners operators at Gas station. My bad have a new found respect for you. God Bless💯🙏

The thumbnail picture is a con. That is a brand new tyre shown and is NOT even the same tread pattern as the one so called being repaired.

Yeah the problem isn't that the guy didn't try to make it good repair the problem is that once the sidewall is compromised the strength is gone. Would be interesting to find out how long this tire lasted before the sidewall family blew out again
I dont know how long it lasts but, this is obviously not his first repair.
@magnusjonasson1987 For sure that's not his first repair. He is fixing the same tire ever other day!
For an earth mover? I can see this repair lasting a long time.
Well it probably has a big, thick tube in it when mounted, I doubt it would blow out...if something happened to gouge it again in that exact spot, I suspect it would be weaker than the surrounding area and damage again more easily, but the odds of that are probably small...
I give it two days on a loader
This is in Pakistan. I know the video is sped up but I can decipher both Urdu (national language) being spoken and one person is speaking Pashtu.
In Urdu - someone was saying it is hard work. In Pashtu - somebody was most likely on a phone complaining about someone not communicating or picking their phone. Most likely the worker is a Pathan. They will keep on fixing this tire till it’s literally down to shreds.

I dare say these guys can repair anything.
Repairing is one thing. The most important thing is safety. I won't use a repaired tyre on my car as I don't want to take risks. It may also be unfair to other road users.
In order to be safe tho YOU PROBABLY NEED TO BE ALIVE. STUPID
Completely agreed. Granted, this video shows tires for excavators and the like, not road tires. Not that I’d want to be a construction worker standing near such a repaired tire…
I think the failure on this tire was an old repair too
And they are not adding strength back in from all the cords that have been cut
😊.

Такой латки может хватить лет на 100 - 200, но только при одном условии: нельзя накачивать 😂
