You bring up a valid point.
It's essential for consumers to make informed decisions about the safety and reliability of repaired vehicles. Some may feel comfortable driving a repaired vehicle, while others may prefer to invest in a new or certified pre-owned vehicle with a clean history.

This us a body on frame vehicle, all the sheetmetal they straightened gives almost zero protection as there are no reinforcements in it as far as I've seen. It hs basically holding the fenders on. All the strength is in the frame and the bumper that is attached to the frame in this case.

There is NO way this was $1000, maybe to buy, but to fix. Parts alone are way more. As long as the structural crash system was replaced to stock form, it should be OK.

One word: Annealing. Every single one of those severely bent areas were hardened by deformation, and hardened even further by "straightening". All of them are cracked or will crack when stressed.

    • @xinxianshi
      @xinxianshi  5 месяцев назад

Indeed, after the metal is deformed, it is easy to deform and crack when it returns to its original shape. Heating with a spray gun is a good method, but it will also lose the toughness of the metal.

This is absurd, this car will never take another hit, this is a leaky boat, and it will sink again, this should be a crime, selling an old can like that, this makeup can't take anything, if there is another head on collision everyone will go die, in Brazil this car is a total loss and sent to the scrapyard to sell the good parts that are left, and the insurance pays for the car completely, or gives the value in cash.

    • @xinxianshi

This looks much worse than it actually is. The real structure and strength is in the frame which was literally untouched in the wreck as the impact was above the frame. This is a time consuming, but relatively easy repair overall. I wouldn't be afraid to drive this anywhere after the repair is complete.

Most people would not look at this mess and think, "Oh yeah, I can fix that."

Indeed, repairing damaged vehicles, especially those with significant structural issues, can be a daunting task. It requires a combination of technical expertise, experience, and meticulous attention to detail. While some may feel intimidated by the extent of the damage, skilled technicians can often assess the situation and develop effective repair strategies.

The cost of this car is very cheap. As a domestic brand off-road vehicle, the new car sells for just over 10,000 US dollars. The price at auction at the scrap car factory is about 2,000 US dollars, plus the repair cost of 1,000, it is less than one-third of the price. It is still a good deal to buy a car like this. After restoration, this car is only used near the farm. The price/performance ratio is very high.

Westerners: “things were so much better before health and safety laws, back when people had common sense”
After watching: Yeah nah I think health and safety laws have made things better

While it's true that regulations can sometimes be perceived as burdensome or restrictive, they ultimately serve to safeguard individuals and promote well-being. Striking a balance between safety and productivity is essential, and health and safety laws play a crucial role in achieving that balance.

Always been a question to me . Why on earth repair stage like this. The way I would do it before even touching is to strip the interior first then pressure wash exterior then start the process. but I don't see that. someone tell me why !?

This car is not anymore safe as the strong structure has pulled to the original shape. Never use old safety structure parts after collision. They all must be renewed. Let’s hope this car will never collide as it doesn’t protect as well as it did.

Appearance repair does not guarantee the original safety, but it does not mean there is no safety at all. Driving at low speeds will not have much impact.
