I've never really thought of it as dark. I rather think Louis is putting a light in a dark place with laughter. It sounds corny but seriously, think about it. Once people accept that humanity is imperfect and humans are not amazing creatures in the slightest bit, I think we will be a happier, more peaceful animal.
