Immediately got 2 of these and screwed em on top of each other, it is the perfect solution for all my work-in-progress, brushes, pallette, etc. and really cleaned up my work area. Thanks for the tip, golden-voiced-youtube-man!
I combined 2 of these kvissle boxes with one of the large Forenkla travel suitcases. Both fit in nicely with extra space for books/dice etc. It comes with rubber wheels, so the weight is a none issue at this point. I'm able to transport even large apocalypse size armies with that combo.
I have some super cheap metal tool boxes from Harbor Freight and filled them with hundreds of magnetized Tyranids. It's great for transporting an entire army as they have handles and you can use the lids and walls as storage space. They don't stack, however. This looks great though and using it on a desk for WIP projects would be great.
Wondered if I needed to add screws to make it a bit more stable, thanks for adding this in your review 👍 Also noticed that these fit nicely in Kallax. Just to add for inspiration of usage of this product. I will use it on my desk to order my soldering projects and add my soldering equipment on top. Not sure but maybe I'll add a piece of wood to the back that is higher than my equipment to be able to hang some tools or even link 3 together and add wood side walls and a top piece with hooks in it and a Ikea LEDBERG Led strip... Always full of ideas ;-)
I've been doing something very similar but with steel cookie sheets for maybe 20 years. Works great. You might want to run a hinged bar (or something similar) down the front of the cabinet to act as a latch to keep the drawers from sliding out when you don't want them to, especially if you plan to use one of these as a transporter.
This is exactly what I've been needing! Thank you so much for this video. Ever since I starting magnetizing my minis (a year or two ago) I've been struggling to figure out how to store/display them in an effective way. And now I have it!!!
That's very neat! It would be cool to add a door to the front. Nothing fancy...just a piece of wood cut to size and either a piano hinge at the bottom or 2-3 small hinges, and some kind of latch. I'm thinking of this mostly because I would be afraid of an accidental tip over and the drawers sliding out. Also it would help keep dust off of them.
Great idea. I guess ill have to get a couple of these. Quick question: how do you magnetize your miniatures? Just some neodyme magnets + super glue under the base?
Just get some adhesive magnetic sheets. The inflexible kind. Cut them to fit any base. Your metal minis won't hold when held upside down, but let's be honest, you don't need that, and you don't need to be consuming rare-earth metals. Plus, for the same price you can get hundreds of times as many mini's magnetized.
I've been getting 6mmx1mm magnets from china. I just looked and they're $23 for 1000. This way I can double them or triple them up for whatever I need.
You can probably save a bit more on the cork part if you look for the rolls of cork sheets rather than placemats...though you will need to cut it to size.
In 2013 you did a review of the PSC M5 15mm box. PSC not to long ago released a M3 15mm kit. Have you got that one to compare with the M5? Nice storage box there.
Are you still using plastic tubs with magnetic sheets inside to transport whole armies with bigger models in it like flyers and things similar to that size or have you got a better option.
For anyone wondering I tried this yesterday. On my 2 cases I had trouble with 2 of the plates to get the cork off. The other ones peeled right off by using just my fingers. No glue left
Very interesting - thanks! Do you add any weight to the base of minis or does the magnet do that enough itself? I have a problem with some 3D printed minis we use for D&D being far too lightweight and prone to being knocked... prone. (ahem)
So I made one of these and it turned out great. It also fits nicely inside an IKEA Kallax (which I have a lot of) How did the letter box end up working out for you?
This is awesome, however, I highly recommend using a hair dryer instead of really hot water. The really hot water makes a mess, the hair dryer is soo much easier.
How is it with bumps or tips from behind do the trays slide out easy. Does this set up suffer from this flaw ruclips.net/video/UsbyrMUKcqA/видео.htmlm2s
Agree 100%. The less opportunity there is for dust to get into your miniature storage, the better. Especially for games that you don't play super regularly.
This is dumb as hell. It looks way too heavy to be truly mobile. You'd be better off putting the metal trays into a lighter box like a plastic storage container.

If you want to lock your trays in, glue some magnets to the tall lip of the tray, then install the tray backwards with the lip in first, works great!
how is that physically possible?

Which Forenkla model did you choose?

While I game at home, this is a great way to have your army at the ready to play at a moments notice...Love Ikea

I glued magnets to the lip of the tray and flipped the tray around and the back wall holds the tray in perfectly.
Two of these back to back will fit in my transport bag perfectly!
what magnets are you using for your minis? I am looking into doing something like this.
Bought one a few days ago and did this. Thanks alot for the tip!
Also, it fits great into a Kallax/Expedit shelf!

I love the paper box idea!
After removing the cork, I used some rattle can primer and green paint to decorate the shelves.
How hard was it to remove the cork?
@@LangJones It wasn't too bad. I used some sort of solvent to remove the glue. (Been a few years so I don't remember exactly which one.)
@@michaelgranaas7331 I used "Goof Off" adhesive remover. Just spray it on let it sit for a minute and it wipes right off.
I'd use some 3M spray adhesive and some felt cloth to line the drawers. Very easy to apply and would look really nice.
Damn, I should of done that.
Hands down the best storage I have seen yet, very nice 😈 -new to the hobby-
sounds good to me will see as go and do minis
What a great idea. I hope you do another video when you have everything else!
I took mine and wrapped it in comic book pages. Looks awesome
Awesome find! Thanks for making this video.
I may get one to use as a Tamiya Paint rack
Great idea. I guess ill have to get a couple of these.
Quick question: how do you magnetize your miniatures? Just some neodyme magnets + super glue under the base?
I also want to know this haha.
Yup. 6mmx2mm or 4mmx2mm for most depending on needs. Baking soda to dry the glue so it doesn't frost the finished mini.
What strength magnets do you use so they stay put so well?

I'm thinking I could use a couple of these to put in my Kallax shelves which have 13" x 13" openings.
I’m interested in a the video regarding your desk set up, do you have one posted already? I like how neat and organize it looks

Genius! Thanks for sharing.
You can probably save a bit more on the cork part if you look for the rolls of cork sheets rather than placemats...though you will need to cut it to size.
It comes with the cork already in place. He was talking about removing it.
Did you make any more adjustments aftwerwards? I'm thinkin of adding a door in front and a handle on top, but I'm a real noob at this stuff..
How has this worked out for long term storage?
What size magnets do you recommend for GW 32mm bases?
What are the dimensions of the trays? Would they sit in a detolf?
Think I may use that case for paint supplies.
In 2013 you did a review of the PSC M5 15mm box. PSC not to long ago released a M3 15mm kit. Have you got that one to compare with the M5? Nice storage box there.
I haven't done anything 15mm in ages.
from which company is the yellow car in the background?
Wargames Exclusive.
What is that paint rack?
Awesome idea man! Thanks for sharing ;)
Are you still using plastic tubs with magnetic sheets inside to transport whole armies with bigger models in it like flyers and things similar to that size or have you got a better option.
Haven't painted anything in years that has big flyers or requires a large amount of space, so I've had no need to improve the tub.
dang. lol
Can you flip over the trays so you don't have to worry about the cork? Great video!
If you don't mind losing 1/2 inch of clearance, sure.
Oh wow, thanks for the head's up!
Have you thought of a French cleat system to hang the boxes? Not sure on your living situation and modifications.
It would worry me too much being in earthquake country. It may work, but loaded up it can get very heavy. The box would likely need more reinforcing.
Do you have something planned to dust-proof the thing, Doc?
Yes. Still need to add something to the front. Not sure what yet.
How much of a challenge was getting the cork renoved from the shelves?
Soak in hot water and use a paint scrapper and it came off fairly easy. The glue on the other hand....
For anyone wondering I tried this yesterday. On my 2 cases I had trouble with 2 of the plates to get the cork off. The other ones peeled right off by using just my fingers. No glue left
Is that a wiz kids silver dragon back there...teaser?
Don't hold your breath. Not happy with the sculpt.
Very interesting - thanks! Do you add any weight to the base of minis or does the magnet do that enough itself? I have a problem with some 3D printed minis we use for D&D being far too lightweight and prone to being knocked... prone. (ahem)
Magnets add virtually no weight. Try lead wheel weights.
Base miniatures on washers to add weight.
very good idea
So I made one of these and it turned out great. It also fits nicely inside an IKEA Kallax (which I have a lot of) How did the letter box end up working out for you?
Box works in theory. I haven't yet had any need to carry the entire thing around.
Very nice storage, and who is in a blue coats? Hessians?
Continentals.
Fantastic, thank you!
What would you do if you wanted to add a door to this
Jonathan Quinlan I’ve been wondering this too. I bought two of these and don’t know how I’m gonna conjoin them and add doors
Could you flip the tray over, and slide it back in? That way you wouldn't have to strip the cork off.
Yes, but the handles would hang down and you'd lose 1/2 inch clearance on each shelf.
I have some Ninja girl minis from relic knights and I was wandering how to paint a Japanese female miniature.
This is awesome, however, I highly recommend using a hair dryer instead of really hot water. The really hot water makes a mess, the hair dryer is soo much easier.
Ikea changed the name of the KVISSLE. The new name is HARVMATTA. It is the same product, but in black.
How is it with bumps or tips from behind do the trays slide out easy. Does this set up suffer from this flaw ruclips.net/video/UsbyrMUKcqA/видео.htmlm2s
No way near to that degree. It has a large footprint and is heavy. It would take some real effort to knock it over.
oooh i see a yellow space car
Open shelves like that are a dust magnet... I prefer closed containers.
Agree 100%.
The less opportunity there is for dust to get into your miniature storage, the better. Especially for games that you don't play super regularly.
i think you could have reversed the plates alternatively. In this way you do not need any work on them cause they are made of metal ;)
Unless you play orks then just throw em in a box and bring glue a pain boi und a mech boi
Nice idea. $20.00 on Ikea, or $40.00 on Amazon. Hah.
This is dumb as hell. It looks way too heavy to be truly mobile. You'd be better off putting the metal trays into a lighter box like a plastic storage container.
How tall is each compartment for miniatures? How many inches for the bottom as well?
