If you were looking at it just for exploration, yeah I see where you're coming from. My idea was that it was gonna be building, along with some exploration, so I enjoyed the simple quests, and building with my friends
That's a bit far fetched, but from what we've heard the game appears to be ultra massive and filled with content. I just hope it isn't buggy and repetitive.
I'm getting it on PS4, but it will make it to Xbox One if it is successful. On the GameInformer Podcast he was asked this and said he couldn't answer that question. If it was flat out PS4 exclusive he would say no to the question. So if they get time after the PC version it will no doubt make its way :)
planet procedural generation technology influenced this game NOT minecraft, minecraft is NOT an universe exploration sim. SPACE ENGINE simulator is the influence .and it's one of the first programs to make it work I beleive sean was helped by the devoloper of SPACE ENGINE to create this game.
I think No Man's Sky may be BS but I really enjoy listening to this dev talk about games, he talks about games in such an articulate way compared to the average awful gaming journalist who usually is around the same age but talks as if he/she has gotten stuck at the age of 18
This game, as it stands, seems like a very empty game. Sure its infinite, but it seems to just be infinitely nothing. Maybe he is keeping it all a secret but the 70 questions video shows me how little he has actually added to this game so far. He says there are no objectives and to make your own objectives up. But if there is nothing to do but fly around, it feels like there is no progression and people will get bored really fast. Could be another one of those "oooh, look at the shiny graphics" games. I want survival elements because otherwise, what are you living for if you can't die, y'know? Is it like that Iphone game where you tap the cube endlessly until you get to the center? Where you do one simple thing that seems very monotonous but the thought of finding what is in the center ( of the galaxy ) looks like keeps you going? I Just hope this game comes out on PC so at least then if its just one of those graphics games then it will look pretty nice.
Yea true but there is things to do explore vast underwater planes and above Water sometimes you'll have to fight creatures they just haven't showed that there is space combat there is mining if you don't want to explore like I do you van go through the onslaught of making it to the centre of the galaxy I'm predicting that will take as long as dark soles did eg 60 hours or even longer it gets increasingly harder as you get closer to the centre and there's even black holes and portals what more do you want you have to get a new ship and a hyperdrive and you have to get better ones that's going to take a wile plus all those cool creatures to find and name yourself I'm so hyped
There's resource mining and buying/trading ships (and maybe upgrading/buying weapons/tools), but not building. Also one point about NMS that many people miss is that *the world is not persistent* (like Minecraft for example).
***** If it's not persistent, does this mean when you go down to a planet and generate it, go out of the atmosphere then back in, it will be re-generated and different? Or is there another aspect I've missed about this?
***** Of course not, it'll be the same. The inputs to the generation algorithm (your position) are going to be the same, so the planet is goint to be the same as well :) The fact that it's not persistent means that any small *changes* you make to the terrain (given that you'll be able to) are not going to be there next time. Except for very major events, like killing an entire species of animals for example. Minecraft is the same except it saves the chucks it has generated initially, and if you visit a place you've been before and it sees that saved chunks are available, loads them instead.
I know how, you know how minecraft's world is essentially infinite (well not really, it ends 32 million blocks after the center)? Well, NMS did the same thing making not 10, not 100, not 500, n0t 1,000, not even 1 billion but like 5 QUINTILLION. A QUINTILLION. That's how many human cells there are in total.
I like this guy and the looks of this game a lot but his answer here disheartened me a bit. I like sandbox games to an extent but they always get boring (and quick) if there isn't a good enough narrative to keep the player moving forward. I'm not going to mine 500 blocks of sand so I can build a house. I'm just not. Hopefully No Man's Sky isn't too much of a sandbox game.
I think you have the wrong ide of a sandbox game... sandbox just means you can do what you like, have you ever just roamed around GTA without doing any ojectives? that's pretty much what it means. www.techopedia.com/definition/3952/sandbox-gaming and if becoming the most powerful person in the game not motive enough idk what is (or getting to the center of the galaxy if the actual objective concerns you)
I have roamed around GTA games with no purpose. It gets boring. And quick. Call me crazy but it's just not my thing. That is part of the reason I haven't purchased any GTA games in quite some time. As for becoming the strongest character being motive... That will never be me. I just don't have the time or patience to devote to a single game to attempt to be the best... or even middle of the road. I play video games for the experience, as I think most do. The experience of wandering around finding / making up things to do isn't for me. I enjoy open world games that allow for exploring at times but have an over-arching narrative. That over-arching narrative is what I am hoping is present in No Man's Sky but we just don't know yet.
Action Movie Fanatix well the crystal thing at the end of the trailers seems to be something, the portals are at alien-like temples ,theres mention of a malevolent force so there might be a story but im certain its something they want us to figure out on our own so you will probably have to wait for review and stuff
I think Shaun Murry should have a podcast I've really enjoyed listining to him talk.
theres one on the game informer site with him in which is a good listen
www.gameinformer.com/b/podcasts/archive/2014/12/29/special-edition-podcast-no-mans-sky.aspx
*****
He's Irish.
starwarsjoshsmith thank you!
i like this guy, he's so humble
I really like Sean Murray. It's so nice to listen to him talk about No Man's Sky :)
I really like this guy, he seems humble and down to earth... hehehe you see what I did there?
+Jon Gallivan ohhh i see what you did there
I'm really anticipating this game, from what we've got it looks wonderful :)
AlphaMunky Your picture matches so perfectly.
AlphaMunky aang😍
originally at launch it sucked but now it's better than the advertizements
If anyone wants to know about the game, look up "No Man's Sky reddit details." There's a No Man's Sky reddit page that has all the info on the game.
I always look forward to more info on this game and hearing from Sean.
omg he mention terraria, I love that game with all my heart, I've been with it since its realse in May of 2011
you guys really need to bring notch and sean together ! they are true legends !
Notch left Mojang, so...
Xavier1234531 screw mojang, they are part of microsoft now, but notch is a legend and minecraft is his baby
what they could have done was customization of ships where you can add a new pars to the one you buy so yo can make a traveling home.
+Mr Tony01 yeah i meant parts of the ship could be customized to make a house inside.
like spore
+Krakos Fabulous yeah. just saw a update from sean you should check it out on seans twitter
I love Starbound a lot, and him mentioning it makes me wanna get this game that much more :D
+Fun's Box To be honest, I found Starbound to be pretty disappointing. It's more of an rpg than a space exploration game.
If you were looking at it just for exploration, yeah I see where you're coming from. My idea was that it was gonna be building, along with some exploration, so I enjoyed the simple quests, and building with my friends
No Man's Sky seems a bit like Starbound. Like the whole scope of it, I love Starbound and I'm super excited for this!
It'll be dope if you can build space stations, space ships, cities, battle ships, alliance and all that will be so dope
Killjoy0329 Sadly, no building.
I can't wait for this to come out! Did did they reveal the release date yet?
Both games are great, even tho minecraft gave us so many memories and will continue to as well, same goes to no mans sky
i hope this game can change our perception of how great and wonderful a game can be..
what do i want, i want to have played this game for 100 hours and still be hyped about it..
That's a bit far fetched, but from what we've heard the game appears to be ultra massive and filled with content. I just hope it isn't buggy and repetitive.
Please don't pull a Phil Fish.
This guy seems to good to pull a Phil Fish
Oh shit, he mentioned starbound
so, is it delayed or not?
Official page still says June 22nd for Europe.
1:56...
Hope it comes to Xbox one...
I think it will. They probably just can't say anything about it because of the timed exclusivity deal with Sony.
I play on ps4 and still agree with you. This should be enjoyed on all great consoles.
after they'r done licking sony's balls they will get to microsoft dont worry
I'm getting it on PS4, but it will make it to Xbox One if it is successful. On the GameInformer Podcast he was asked this and said he couldn't answer that question. If it was flat out PS4 exclusive he would say no to the question. So if they get time after the PC version it will no doubt make its way :)
Cole Brown no it's not they said it will not be on X1 only PS4 and PC lol 😁
And I so much wanted to say Minecraft meets Elite, but I can't do it.
planet procedural generation technology influenced this game NOT minecraft, minecraft is NOT an universe exploration sim.
SPACE ENGINE simulator is the influence .and it's one of the first programs to make it work I beleive sean was helped by the devoloper of SPACE ENGINE to create this game.
wow!!!
I think No Man's Sky may be BS but I really enjoy listening to this dev talk about games, he talks about games in such an articulate way compared to the average awful gaming journalist who usually is around the same age but talks as if he/she has gotten stuck at the age of 18
no man's sky had a lot of potential. I think it can be fixed and made into the game we expected. at least I hope so...... 😐
this guy seems cool but i have never heard of him before?
Joe Danger? He created it.
I mean i know he created the game but this is my first time seeing this person i have never heard of this guy before but has he made any other games?
No, they have only accomplished Joe Danger so far. this game will make them or break them.
oh ok the game seems cool wonder if they will ever have a demo

+UberShyGuy wheres your spirit of adventure?
holy shit snow!
so like, are you going for resources in this?and building/crafting things? like minecraft..
There's resource mining and buying/trading ships (and maybe upgrading/buying weapons/tools), but not building.

***** Ah okay, thanks for that. I was confused on that specific part of the game.
No prob :)
Not quite sure if he really answered that question!
+CIRUS MEDIA He literally said it would, but it might not have been as welcome in gamers eyes without minecraft.
I know how, you know how minecraft's world is essentially infinite (well not really, it ends 32 million blocks after the center)? +Darth Utah 66 *cough* 18 quintillion and humans have only 70tril cells *cough*
+Darth Utah 66 a human? no....not even remotely close.
id be amazed if the entire EARTH had that many "cells' worth of volume space.....
Minecraft world is similar size like earth...NMS have 18,400 000 000 000 000 000 earth sized planets and space betven em...NMS is mindblowingly big

Say no to drugs kids.
it's not an open world, its an open universe
