I love that the makers themselves are still blown away after years and years of making this game by new content and the beautiful thing about true procedural generation is it won't stop, there won't be a point of where they'll be able to say "we've seen it all now".
People are questioning whether we'll get bored of playing this game after a few hours. The developers have been working on it for 3 years and are still amazed and surprised by what they find. Question answered.
***** If you can link me any evidence to suggest they have been, fair play. As it stands from what i've heard/read though Hello Games is only working on NMS and will be for years to come if it's popular. The thing about the game and its make up is it takes that long to make the code work for all 18 quintillion planets and environments. Hard to appreciate that when we just see trailers.
I know right? I am a minor and while COD may be fun if you like shooting things or fast paced games, I really don't see too much of an appeal for it. I preordered NMS and can't wait to discover new life.
A lot of people are saying "oh, this game's gonna flop because it doesn't have this thing that I, personally, like". It's like saying "I really don't like heavily story-driven games with lots of dialogue and characterization, so I bet the new Uncharted game's gonna do really badly". Everyone has their own individual tastes in terms of what kind of content they like in games, and the fact that a game's content may not match up with what you like doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be a bad game. It just means that chances are you aren't the target audience.
I've been so excited about this game from the start. Everyone kept telling me, it'll never work, this game is going to flop, you'll get hyped and get your hopes up because a team that small can't do anything. They're out to prove everyone wrong. I cannot wait to stream this game, I have plans to make this my main platform on my channel and can't wait to get out and explore. Good job, Hello Games. I'm ready!
I honestly can't wait. Even if this game somehow managed to flop the software they have created and the knowledge they've gained from NMS's creation is worth a crap load and it really just goes to show what can be done on current systems if all resources are used properly!
I'm usually very cautious with new games coming out. I wait and see what other people think before buying upcoming games. but No man's sky just looks fantastic, definitely buying a copy as soon as it comes out. Can't wait!
If you are really enthusiastic about the game like I am pre ordering is a good way to help the makers and even get cool things by pledging yourself early on!
+MightyManotaur22 It looks like one of those games that you have to break stuff up. Like at first I'll want to explore my system and then hit the closest next to me and so on. But at some point that will become boring and I may want to mine and trade. Many Many hours will be spent just exploring, but eventually i'll want to nose dive towards the center of the galaxy and even that may get boring but then I'll start exploring again.
Davis Moniz Yes but FTL was developed by two people and its a 2D game, 3D assets take a lot more work to make, NMS engine is very complex, doesn't compare to FTL in terms of the work that goes into the engine. In terms of gameplay FTL is very deep, I think NMS is going to have that same rogue-like survival style as well. Ultimately you have no clue what amount and type of work goes into making games, and the skill required to do so, so vote with your wallet if its not worth your money, then why even bother complaining? ;) I am pretty sure I'll be playing at least a few hundred hours of NMS myself.
666. mg i7-4790k and 780 ti 16gb ram what is your budget ? btw nvidia and AMD are going to release new graphic cards soon (next month) so i suggest in general you should wait little bit
***** I would know I spent nearly $3000, and 4 1/2 hours building the damn thing. Reason I got the Titan X is it is the only single GPU card on the market that can play games in 4K.
I GET IT!!! I TRULY GET IT. I DIG IT. I truly understand aesthetics they have gone for and achieved. When I was a kid I used to spend hours looking at paper back sci-fi covers that would then entice me to read the books. Nearly all of them would be of a space ship in orbit of a planet. The game is a tribute to the works of the artists from that time, and I love that.
Looks INCREDIBLE.. But really hoping they implement 2 things, I have not heard yet..... 1. *Ship interiors.* 2:01 Even just spartan, bunk, food prep etc, and not just "appear inside the cockpit. 2, *VR support.* 1:15 imagine both things in this shot. Even more immersive, and awesome.
I'm still skeptical of what this game promises, but I'm definitely buying it. Everything I've seen shows that the team has a lot of passion for this project, and even if they fail I can't imagine it's going to be anything less than beautiful
people comments about this game making me angry... lmao i dove into a lot of this game after figuring it was a thing a week or so ago.. and ive been inlove i love how they didn't show much but the basics and its more then enough. this game gonna live for along time..
Ok maybe not a gta game, but how about a procedurally generated city, with ever evolving people and cars and buildings? I don't know if it's entirely possible now but it could use the tech from NMS as a starting point. If bungie could pull off a game like that it would be insane though
Sean Murray said in an interview that he would like to work on NMS forever and that releasing it is going to be hard for him xD you can tell he really love working on the game.
+Orpheus 010 from what I've heard the base game is just the start, he's going to run it like minecraft and release new features in updates. So for the people saying they are going to be bored there is gong to be PLENTY to do 😂
No Man Sky will be giving us the Pokemon feeling of the century. Remember when you were a kid (or maybe you still are one if you are from a more recent generation and has not experienced 90's games), getting your first copy of Pokemon on the Gameboy, showing it to your friends which makes them buy it too. The next few weeks (or years even) you had the most amazing time of your life sharing all your discoveries and new Pokemons. Heck, this applies for most games back in the day, we did not really check Wikis or Walkthroughs back then. Nope, we asked our friends, and they asked us. This is going to be that kind of game, cause it will be impossible to create a Wiki containing all the different creatures and planets you are going to find. You will be constantly sharing your experience with others and they will share theirs with you and it's just going to be an amazing time really.
He did say that as players approach the center of the universe things would get weird... I think the potential for a really good story, and not just a shiny exploration sim, opens up thanks to that sinister ending and quote
+Haven Cross I hope for one thing in this game: after a lot of Playtime,(atleast half a year), a "big" part of the universe, the players realize that they have been part if a big story all along. And no, not something like God wanted to search for a worthy second Jesus, i mean something that will realy move and touch the players. I wouldn't know how to pull this off, but it would be amazing.
I remember being hyped for this when we got a sneak peek for it 2 years ago in a game informer magazine. This game will (hopefully) live up to expectations.
Their office space really takes me back to the early days of the 3rd millennium when every other weekend was spent at some local LAN sleeping as little as humanly possible while having the best of times.
This will be the best game ever !! April 22, today is Earth's day and looking at the google's doodle, first thing came in my mind was No Man's Sky pictures haha
This game is a dream coming true! This is the first game in many many years I actully really are looking forward to. Its gonna be a totaly new thing and its so vast I still cant understand it, instead I just dream of what it will be and what this game will bring after its gone. thanks for making this for all of us
so obviously some planets will have hills and harsh terrain, but will there be mountains? like huge, mountains? is there a chance of me coming across a planet that has a Mt. Everest sized if not bigger mountain that can take me hours to reach the top? haven't really seen anything like that in the gameplays
You're actually very, VERY wrong. You WILL find mountains bigger than everest or anything you have ever seen. Sean Murray has stated several times in interviews that planets vary very differently in size saying that some planets will take a few hours to cross while others will take MONTHS to cross. And in rare occasions he has even said you may find one that will take up to a year. Because if this game can generate 18 quintillion planets that are bigger than our own in some cases, it will not be a problem if a planet generates to be as big or bigger than lets say, Jupiter. Same with stars, probably will find a red giant eventually.
Every day I check RUclips and patiently wait for a new No Man's Sky video that's at least 20 min long, but my hopes are destroyed when in turns out to be this short...I NEED MORE CONTENT!!!!!!
+Enrique Comas let it come out then we compare it to elite dangerous and Star citizen when it comes out it would be interesting me personally can't wait to get my hands on both star citizen and no man's sky
This game is what this industry needs, it is both innovative and imaginative in its sheer unlimited scale and possibilities. Each player will have their own experiences and have many things to discover and do. Definitely hyped for this :)
This game has me so excited. What gets me so excited is that the people who made the game don't even know everything in there. The thought that i could find something that they didn't even know existed in this universe they created blows my mind. I cannot wait for this game I love games that just say "Here's the world, it's yours to explore" and that's it.
*[...] While the game is growing, the beard also is growing. [Sky, No man]*

Sean's beard is also procedurally generated
+Gabreu0000 No need to talk Giberish :)
Procedural generation FTW!!! :D
+Gabreu0000 why would you respond to an english comment in Spanish? You obviously understand.

Eventually some organism will. Not in our lifetime
+Andrew Denneno and then comes the expansion pack :>
People are questioning whether we'll get bored of playing this game after a few hours. The developers have been working on it for 3 years and are still amazed and surprised by what they find. Question answered.
The food always tastes better when you make it.
+Tim Senna (timontheradio) exaclty
Ege Eraslan Fair point, but I think they're very self aware and it's been game tested so much now. You'll get out as much as you put in.
+Tim Senna (timontheradio) we'll see. I really want this game to live up to the hype.
***** If you can link me any evidence to suggest they have been, fair play. Even if this game flops, it'll still be a great screenshot/wallpaper generator.
Don't you say that, DON'T YOU EVER SAY THAT. This game will not flop.
Lol.
+xilllllix Like Elite: Dangerous? Seriously, I see no reason why this game won't end up dying the same way E:D has.
+Masento Two words: ground exploration
+Tim Senna (timontheradio) But with no point, or reward.
is Sean's beard a representation of the games completion
it's a timee
+Rock George timer*
Phahaha literally
I believe it's procedurally generated every morning, with thousands of hairs of varying length and shape
+Blarg42 LOL
amazing to see the other devs in HelloGames :)
Hope the game will be compatible with VR systems, then I can die happy
+TryMike4i think it will be, being in first person and all. it better be
+Wilson Walker Well it's not as of now. It's a damn shame too.
will it require ps plus?
its confirmed VR supported by PlayStation VR.
Sianide100 no it's not. Stop lying.
I'm glad to see other members of the team featured as well :D
One thing needs to be added to make this game art.
MORGAN FREEMAN
Yees jajaja
+fulltimespy Even if he just voices the game's intro. That'd be fricking brilliant.
Make him the narrator
damn straight
Morgan Freeman needs to be the surprise at the center of the universe
Sean Murray is the most likeable game developer I've ever seen lol. Whenever this guy talks, I have to smile. xD
+santaria19 I know right! He looks like the happiest guy out there. Todd Howard is a great guy too though.
Some say the universe of this game is actually the same universe located in Sean's beard. How would you explain it's vast glorious.
I know right! It's like he's working so hard that anything else is secondary.
+Sonrayz Actually it's a common thing in studios for the programmers to not shave beards in the latest stage of the vame
*sigh* if only beyond and next kept this artstyle
Looks more incredible every time i see it.
I think it's funny how 12 year olds are calling this game dumb and boring because it's not call of duty
+Everyone'sFavoriteNoose Then let them go ! i don't want kids ruining this game either...
I know right? I am a minor and while COD may be fun if you like shooting things or fast paced games, I really don't see too much of an appeal for it. I preordered NMS and can't wait to discover new life.
thats all they grew up with. thats all they know.
Im glad they arent, they would be spacedicks and just destroy everything lol
Lol this guy gets it
Morgan freeman should narrate an intro to no mans sky
Copy cat
+Elias Perez WOW MY GOD PLS
Probably the best no man's sky video i've ever seen so far, so inspirational

THIS IS SO TRUE
He seems a little too ambitious to become something like that
Who's Noach?
Minecraft creator
2:55 Hey I recognize that from Avatar...
They already have my money. Now I want their game. It looks soooo good. I've wanted a game like this for so many years. We're finally getting it
I think it's really neat that, even for the developers, this game will be filled with new discoveries
I'm really curious about those floating island planets (you can kind of see one at the end) so hype!
+Pixelated Warrior ikr
Wow thanks for pointing that out! I never even noticed that floating planet... that looks AESOME!

I just hope I don't find a planet where the creatures are my parents.

+alexander maier Well, my parents were multi-limbed sulfur demons who foraged in packs and mated in even larger packs. I should be fine.
My parents must have been a giraffe and a shortsighted mole
large underwater creatures??? ok, now i'm super ready for this game, it can't come quick enough

Hello commenters from 2016. I'm from 2020 and you HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN....also, this game got a lot better.
2:54. Isn't that big one in Horizon: Zero Dawn? Looks like it at least.
There is actually a lot of hype about this game now, never thought it would get to this point. Can't wait for release.

The planets won't be big enough. They designed the planets to take an average of a few hours to cross, encouraging exploration.

+ytho I still don't sometimes haha. I hope it delivers but i know there are already unrealistic expectations. Just the art alone is amazing!
if you show this to someone a hundred years ago they will burn you alive because they will think you're a witch or something

The colors! Insert artsy description of how they're so pleasing to look at.

This game is what this industry needs, it is both innovative and imaginative in its sheer unlimited scale and possibilities. Each player will have their own experiences and have many things to discover and do. Definitely hyped for this :)

JG Qualls lol
Ty J lol
This game has me so excited. What gets me so excited is that the people who made the game don't even know everything in there. The thought that i could find something that they didn't even know existed in this universe they created blows my mind. I cannot wait for this game I love games that just say "Here's the world, it's yours to explore" and that's it.
Is there gonna be insects
I think so, or at least insect like creatures. When talking about aliens, Earth life classifications get a little blurry.
Can't wait! Getting it on steam.
