Jixaw15 well. when you go from making shitty side scrollers to a massive universe where you can make anything you want, pretty sure anyone would be excited
Being a fellow indie developer, I fully agree that it's a lot more intimidating to enter the game development scene nowadays trying to create our own wolds and games with all this AAA stuff being thrown at us. If only more indie games were shown, then we show kids that you don't have to be all fancy to have an enjoyable game.
Ironically Indie games seem to have much more passion and inspiration behind them than company games these days. No company would want to make a game like this. They have deadlines, manage large groups of programmers, hype the game, ect. This game has been just as modest in its marketing as the Lead Developer is and everyone who is interested in this game wasn't forced into liking with with over hyped advertisements, or saying it's a super great game. They just put out a handful of actual gameplay trailers and say "This is a game we are making. We made it because a lot of people want to go on space adventures when they were kids and no one has done it yet. You can like it if you want to" it was so genuine in the presentation and didn't have any of the cheap tricks or lied. I think that's what pulled me into looking at the game more. "They didn't try to force me... what exactly are they making?"
You weren't bombarded by constant No Man's Sky adverts and so, in a way, you learned and discovered the game for yourself. Now I haven't tried or played the game but from what I've seen, I'm starting to really like the look and feel of the game (mostly cause it's not the usual AAA crap) and I too have strong connections with what the developer saw for inspirations. As a famous quote once said "Knowledge learned/discovered is more valuable than knowledge given" which I think applies perfectly here.
I thought as a adult I'd never be excited about a video game again, but as soon as I saw this and started researching what it was it was like this man and his team made everything I've ever wanted in a video game. Pure exploration and a sense of my mark being left on something that others can see. I think we all have been set on kill mode so much lately by video games that a peaceful traveler is going to be a hard transition but a very welcome one espically if your like me and craved the ability to seek something that only the hand that built it has seen and it's amazing that we as the player get to label and forge the path for the next player if desire. August 9th is definitely going to be a interesting day for the gaming community. Thank you hello games you guys are awesome.
Props to this guy for having such courage to actually take on this endeavor. The way he describes it is amazing. This is going to be a really good game, I'm sure of it.
Interstellar and this seems really closely connected. Both are about the love for exploration, unique extraterrestral enviroments. That's why I'm so excited for this game!
this game is already one of my favorite games just from watching clips and hearing how passionate Sean is about what he has created (along with his talented team of course) cant wait for this game to get released! :D
Could relate a lot to what he was saying. Very nice to hear where No Man's Sky originates from. And it's a very beautiful thing the studio is going to create for us. I can't wait, I love the art style of this game, and the pretty in depth emphasis on exploration into the center of galaxies. To infinitely go where no other player will go, that's something very special.
looking at all the games we had right now, I'm pretty sure No Man's Sky is going to be a breeze of fresh air. All they need to do is continuing the growth of this game through dlcs that makes the complexity of the game keeps expanding. Just like this universe we had. That will define this genre correctly.
Very excited about the whole "things get crazier as you get closer to the center of the universe" thing. I seriously cannot wait to get my hands on this promising game.
Man i can listen to Sean talk for days about this damn game, and i well kind of have with the few interviews he had, and we got to see, man i can't wait till this game comes out, too hyped
Dune is hands down the greatest science fiction book ever made, and each subsequent novel in the series gets more and more mind blowing like nothing I've ever read. Frank Herbert deserves more recognition in my opinion, especially since the first book came out so early in sci fi history. Its not Jules Verne early, but Dune is definitely the one book that made me realize just how much potential there is in the human mind. I dreamed of becoming a Mentat when i was young, or having perfect control over every single muscle and cell in the body like the Bene Gesserit. I read Dune 14 times and i still take away new things every time i read it.
XxMAFIAx805xX We are looking at anywhere from 2 Months min. to 6 Months max. It has been confirmed 2015. (Source, the quickest game release after IGN First is 2 Months, the max is 6 Months.)
It's funny his mentioning Elite as an inspiration. Since I saw the very first pieces on this I had the feeling that this rather than Elite: Dangerous would be the modern, evolution of Elite that I've been waiting decades for. Elite was for me, like many MANY people of my age, my first home computer space game. It's where I learned to love sandbox games. To love games that make you plan out trade routes, where you go next, and why. But Elite was also for its time something else for me. It was optimistic. Humans out in space making a living, yup fighting pirates ad Thargoids but for the most part it felt bright. Elite: Dangerous feels almost too...grounded for me to feel totally happy with it. I like it, but I don't love it. I get the feeling that NMS I will love...roll on release date.
This game is going to be amazing. It's been in development for almost 3 years. If the game isn't ready enough for them yet, I'll happily wait till next year.
That is incorrect. HelloGames was founded 6 years ago, in 2009 by four people. Development of No Man's Sky started after Joe Danger 2, in 2012.Cesar Martinez
The music IGN has used in these past few videos for no mans sky have been beautiful and attention-getting. Id really like to find out where the music is from! It would be cool if they are songs from the games soundtrack.
Imagine a game the likes of No Mans Sky, Elite Dangerous, and Star Citizen where you play as a Bounty Hunter or Smuggler in the Star Wars galaxy under the rule of the Galactic Empire. You could have tense moments where you barely escape an Imperial fleet, you could be hired by the empire to hunt down a Rebel target, you could even work with the Rebel alliance directly or indirectly, and of course you could complete the Kessel run in less then 12 parsecs! There could be hundreds of different ship options to choose from, with thousands of custom parts for you to attach, and you could walk around your ship in first or third person and have friends join you on it. You could travel to hundreds of Star Wars worlds and journey from Coruscant to the Outer Rim. A game like this would have so much potential!
This game has a weird hype to it, that is not usual for games today... which i quite like. It's not the same hype that watchdogs, destiny, batman and witcher 3 had, where almost everyone seemed to be so damn excited about (including me for batman and witcher 3). It felt like those games were the shit and nothing would beat it. I've been following their development since the first announcement trailer in decemeber 2013. This hype for this game is more awe inspiring and inspiring itself. It feels relaxed and seems like watching a kid growing up. It kind of follows seans personality.
I'll love to say this is prob the best sandbox game I have ever say I'm am very excited this game is making me want to switch over to play station so bad bc of this game I love how they took something out of complete imagination and created one of the best games I have ever saw I love everything about it
As 3d modeler and animation hobbyist that comes from a creative and art background building games today has never been more easy for artists than today with UE4 and Stingray even game programing is more accessible to artists
canadianeh16 You can kind of customize ships through upgrades, and those might slightly alter the appearance of the ships, but there won't be full ship customization.
canadianeh16 You can't customize, but you can upgrade. There are millions of ships out there I'm sure you'll find an awesome looking ship that you don't even want to customize lol.
They said that the first thing to update is the multiplayer aspect. They said after a certain amount of time after the game is realesed and if their is still a demand for it they will make a "traditional Multiplayer mode" where friends can find each other much easier.
Fist-of-doom Ideally I would like the MP aspect to be like journey where you cant meet friends, just fellow travellers, because if they do do a traditional MP we might end up getting ganked by a band of space pirates
Anyone notice how good it looked at 4:14. I've watched a few NMS videos and its first time I've seen something like that. The size of that creature and there also appears to be flags in the background?
I wish I didn't have to go to university for the next couple years. I mean this game will just be all nighters of just exploring. When I was playing destiny, I was doing some boring patrol mission on the moon an if you look in the sky or the outside of the borders of the map, I generally wanted to just explore. A couple months later I learn about this game and I'm really excited.
whether NMS will be a great game or not, i think sean murray is one of the greatest, most talented visionary in the modern computer game history. if NMS will not be his big score, i am sure something else in the future will be.
dude take my money! I want this game right now.. Beta please! something! This looks so epic. I will play this for years to come like i did with minecraft
technically you could tell all your friends "meet me at the planet korror IV inn the docos system" and all meet up and have a fleet fight or explore and stuff like that

This game is astonishing no doubt. But there's one thing that a lot of gamers won't like about it. It lacks a storyline. Other than that, the game is amazing. I'd rate it an 8.5/10 :)
Badkuip Matthias lol... IF PLANETS IN NO MAN'S SKY ARE ONLY 10 KM ACROSS --- :( --- I'LL ONLY HAVE 5,534,023,200,000,000.000 SQUARE KILOMETERS OF TERRAIN I CAN EXPLORE
+Badkuip Matthias If No Man's Sky's planets were only 10 km across, I would only have (huge number omitted) square km of planet surfaces to explore. (Because of the 5 quintilian planets number, meme comes from Reddit, google the first sentence of the meme and you'll find it.)

Tzah and Reronicusno you can't find a source for that cos he's full of shit. You can't build space stations or anything other than basic weapons or space suits etc. No buildings
Space, the final frontier! I cant wait to play no mans sky, to seek out new life and new civilization and to boldly go where no man has gone before! ;D

Jixaw15 well. when you go from making shitty side scrollers to a massive universe where you can make anything you want, pretty sure anyone would be excited
DarkDays ...genuine doesnt mean excited... I dont understand
DarkDays That game was good, go look at reviews for that game. It's really fun if your into those games.
Jixaw15 Irish people tend to be genuine!
Jixaw15

have enyone ever noticed how sean is always smiling, even if its not with his lips but with the muscles under his eyes.
He a happy person
Indeed
Izac Lakey His passion comes through all the time he is talking. I love listening to him.
He is a great storyteller
So what. Even if he is, he's developing an amazing game.

Boy don't over do it with all that joy you're spreading around man......
Sean seems like such a great guy. I love how he's always always smiling and how much passion he has.
This is the video that won me over to be excited for this game. Sean's passion and joy is rare in the industry
3:04 Witcher 3 background..Hello Games knows what's up :)
Lol ikr
Badal Rana Look at 3:14 LOL
Kenneth Bonifacio dat meme thou
Kenneth Bonifacio Lmaoooo
Badal Rana Hopefully their game works a little better than that game. What a broken mess!
I really like this guy he seems genuine and very passionate.

***** Just a Good Monitor really. My eyes suck.
PhysicsPixel Glasses life?

Wow, as an aspiring game dev, this guy nails what it feels like trying to do games in today's world. I couldn't have expressed it better myself.
Could relate a lot to what he was saying. Very nice to hear where No Man's Sky originates from. And it's a very beautiful thing the studio is going to create for us. I was stoked, and this got me even more stoked. Can't wait for this game any longer ugh
VIDEO GAMES ARE AWESOME!!!!!!
rasta alem Video games are like children. They get bigger and better every year but still have a long way to go to become adults.
VaultBoy111 So murderers are just buggy games that need a patch?
ender003 No they are just stubborn children ;)
Very excited about the whole "things get crazier as you get closer to the center of the universe" thing. I seriously cannot wait to get my hands on this promising game.
Getting a little man crush for Sean. Really interesting guy and he makes you excited just by how excited he is to talk about this stuff.

cloudbloom Are you one of those assholes who recite the Litany Against Fear in real life? jk
pause the video at scenes where the devs are working in the office and look at the concept art that are hanged on the wall. its beautiful
We need a release date hope to get one on Gamescom if they go
When is it?
XxMAFIAx805xX We are looking at anywhere from 2 Months min. to 6 Months max. It has been confirmed 2015. (Source, the quickest game release after IGN First is 2 Months, the max is 6 Months.)
I love how they havent announced it yet...which means when they do it will prob be the real release date
He said they aren't going to gamescom
Well Sony isn't going there... Hopefully they go on their own.
I like everything about this game and the dev team. Innovation is a refreshing rarity in games!
I feel like Sean Murray and i share the same brain. Can't wait to check out No Man's Sky, probably on PS4 :D
i just love the art style neon like vibe of it

fastball47rjl I agree...
Love love love Sean's enthusiasm!
Oh man this game. I hope it lives up to how hyped it is.

I hope to god this game isn't delayed.
To be delayed it would have to have a release date first.
plo617 Well anything past 2015 would be considered delayed but I rather have a complete finish game than it to be rushed
plo617 Its scheduled to come out 2015.
*****
Business doesn't work like that. It doesn't matter if they're indie or AAA, a game needs a release date.
Duke If it needs to be delayed then they should delay it.
Hes right. Much more fun to imagine your own story line than the ones created for you.
This game has a weird hype to it, that is not usual for games today... which i quite like.

The fact that I will never see the same planets in this video breaks my adventurous heart.
Rest in pizza sand snakes.
Wolfeon24 I presume that, if once found, you can warp back to the planet through some kind of menu.
It would be cool if they customizable ships like in Rodina. That would just complete the game for me.
The ships are highly customisable :)
Finn The Human I just looked it up, apparently you can't :(
canadianeh16 You can kind of customize ships through upgrades, and those might slightly alter the appearance of the ships, but there won't be full ship customization.
canadianeh16 You can't customize, but you can upgrade. There are millions of ships out there I'm sure you'll find an awesome looking ship that you don't even want to customize lol.
canadianeh16 While customization is not possible, remember ships are also procedurally generated!
4:13 giant sand snake has me much more excited about the kinds of creatures we'll be seeing!
Man, this year my two most hyped games are No Man's Sky and Mario Maker... I can't wait any longer! I want them now!! :)
I want to give sean a hug.
This game looks great and I cant wait to see how they expand on it in the future the way mine craft did

at the looks of things just might have to with no release date insight 😐
This is gonna be one emotional game
Anyone notice how good it looked at 4:14. I've watched a few NMS videos and its first time I've seen something like that. The size of that creature and there also appears to be flags in the background?
Wow his beard grows fast! It's like a chia pet lol
I love watching the features for this game
I hope they take their time and make this game right. A worth waiting title
***** Oh, you'll have plenty of time at university. Trust me.
***** Skive a few lectures here and there, for a few weeks. :)
Sean Murray, you're an awesome guy
whether NMS will be a great game or not, i think sean murray is one of the greatest, most talented visionary in the modern computer game history. if NMS will not be his big score, i am sure something else in the future will be.
I just wanna see the next 18 minutes of gameplay. They're STALLING. I know it.
this game looks absolutely amazing!
i cant wait for this but i hope they make a good dying system and bookmarker for planets to revisit
Where do I sign up. I can't wait for this game lol
4:14 "If you walk without rhythm, it won't attract the worm."
Man, this game is going to be amazing!
His views are just as inspiring
dude take my money! I want this game right now.. Beta please! something! This looks so epic. I will play this for years to come like i did with minecraft
I am so pumped for this game
...No words to describe it... They should've sent a poet... I had no idea...
technically you could tell all your friends "meet me at the planet korror IV inn the docos system" and all meet up and have a fleet fight or explore and stuff like that

Giant sand worms almost identical to the ones from "Dune".
My body is ready.
im already going to play it regardless. just please give us a release
date
Enjoying this game more with every video, the only think that disturbs me is absence of alien races comunication or any npc like traders or may be I missed smth. However game still brings smth new and original ) Thumbs up !
this guy is awesome and a genius
Can't wait to play this game
im so hyped for this game
Finally a reaason to use Spotify on my ps4 this "game" seems perfect for it.
Goddamnit I want this game so much. I'm going to buy a PS4 and PSVR just for this game (yes, I'm confident it'll be PSVR-compatible).
The anticipation for this release date is so damn agonizing.
It's funny cause that old elite game actually still looks cool.
Wow as soon I saw the tittle I had Dune in movie in mind . (Father the sleeper has awakened) best quote ever.
This game is astonishing no doubt. But there's one thing that a lot of gamers won't like about it. It lacks a storyline. Other than that, the game is amazing. I'd rate it an 8.5/10 :)

Can't wait for the WiiU/NX port!!!!
*goes back to playing Cooking Mama & Bayonetta*
TiVo2Go I doubt this game will get a Wii U port because I don't think the console is strong enough
literally just release it. we want to play it!
When he said book, I said Dune and was right lol. I am gonna love this game, I feel it.
Definitely need this.
Allow us to build settlements with other players in "colonies" then this game would have everything
Yeah I wish there was building, even if it was really basic
They tell after the game will be launch they will work on updates so we will have possibility to build bases with other player
^^^ Hey otaku where can I find this vid your talking about??
jordan605632 the whole point of the game is to explore and not have a home base that is fixed in one spot.. If you could build a house then what would be the point? You just sit in it all day next to your friends? That's like the opposite of what the spirit of the game is about
Tzah and Reronicusno you can't find a source for that cos he's full of shit. You can't build space stations or anything other than basic weapons or space suits etc. No buildings
Social gaming maybe is his way of showing he does need people around. This is my kinda game though.
hmm... I'll be keeping an eye on this.!!!
Sean! i want your game! LET ME BUY IT! I DON'T CARE IF ITS A PRE-ORDER! I JUST WANT THIS GAME TO BE IN MY STEAM LIBRARY!
Space, the final frontier! I cant wait to play no mans sky, to seek out new life and new civilization and to boldly go where no man has gone before! ;D
Thiago Augusto I don't think space is the final frontier its more our imagination that is the most unexplored

More gameplay and a release date would be great.
Cant wait. Release date !!
Sean Murray is the Kwisatz Haderach.
I cant wait to play this game, can we get a release date already??
Holy shit this game looks so cool!
