Oh, well, if there were a multiplayer you could be able to see and be seen by other players. Oh, but there's no multiplayer. Oh, wait, you cannot customize your character either. Don't worry, they'll fix it with a DLC. Oh, he said there'll be no DLCs...
Funny thing is, at least one year of development of this year was delayed due to a flood, so a tsunami in this game would be ironic LOL But i would love to see natural disasters. I think that asteroids are confirmed, so why not?
Steven Travers ok I thought station means it is "stationary" ~ like in "railway station". So basically it's a big big big ship... I see. That could cost a lot :)
Hermetika Prime That is when music was real and not fake mindless hip hop autotuned bullshit like we have now. You clearly have shit taste in music and don't know what real music is.
Ah yes here we have the perfect example of two high levels of retardation on each end of the spectrum. We have Subject 1. telling xy they have horrible taste in music because they're quoting lyrics of a FUCKING FLEETWOOD MAC SONG, then subject 2. comes along and defends that (rightly so) but also calls hip-hop mindless autotuned garbage. Gen X and Boomer stereotypes
Q: Why is it called No Man's Sky? A: It's set in a dystopian future in which radical feminists rose to power and banned all males from any form of air or space travel.
I can't disable replies, so either take this argument somewhere else or stop replying entirely. I don't want to delete this comment, but I will if I have to.
LukeDude759 Fun fact: You can actually delete comments on your own comment strand by flagging them. Just get rid of his stupid boob fondling comment and literally all the rest of the comments about that comment and the world will be at peace again.
***** Samuel Lacey You know what, let's just delete this conversation, pretend it never happened, and we can start over and just be friends and we'll all live happily ever after. Or something like that.
+chiffmonkey I love how we have to ask that question like a small child that's been beaten over the head with DLC his entire life xD it's really sad actually.
+Nyxato Not really, if a game is released in a great state at launch then there is absolutely no reason why any post-release content is expected to be free. Hence the existence of expansion packs and subscription models.
Rest assured, they are hiding a good 90% of what the game is really like to play from us. Which I believe is a good thing. There actually used to be a time where games would release without every single detail about it being excruciatingly leaked, reviewed, debated, and known beforehand. Where people had to actually figure it out for themselves. I know, blasphemy right?
"Will there be DLC?" "No." That's the final confirmation I needed. Goodbye, greedy game monoliths, hello Hello Games! It's nice to see a transparent developer now and again. He literally gave so many negatives about his game, and openly admitted them! Yet, I think it's because of this admittance that people will still push themselves to buy it. Because this is a developer they can trust.
+westonman211 Hey, np :) +Emma Anderson What would they even add as DLC? New places? No, it's procedural. Costumes? No, you can't see yourself. Upgrades? That ruins the in-game economy and is too microtransaction-y. See, there's not much DLC stuff to add.
For those who aren't sure about the game: Think of this: You fly into a planet and explore a bit. Suddenly you find yourself getting chased after some large animal from the planet and you're running for your life trying to escape. Suddenly you encounter some large cave that you explore. Down there is an entire light show of organisms and creatures. You eventually find your way out and get to your ship. You leave the planet and head on to the next adventure.
Notice how majority of the things he said yes to are now true, and most of the things he said no to are now true. He was doing something stupid lying then, But if he was doing this interview again, I think i’d like to see it.
Yea and more than we expected with the ship customization coming, I don't know why he lied so much back then, but in his mind maybe he did plan to have all these features eventually but not on release, which he should have said.
For anyone that doesn't know, in this game, you will: collect resources upgrade your suit and ship go to space stations buy stuff hire A.I. mercenaries become a merchant fight pirates become a pirate interact with stuff use your multitool (which is a device that can do multiple things depending on the attachments you put on it, like shooting and collecting resources. It was shown in the original trailer as a rectangular orange gun shooting a laser I believe) etc. There is more to the game, but not all of the info has been released of course.
***** That's what I'm talking about. I remember back in September or something, when I heard that you can stick with one ship that you can upgrade and that the idea is that you become attached to that ship overtime. Seems like that's no longer the case at least in the beginning of the game.
Agreed. It's refreshing to have a game company actually release a full game and not nickel and dime us for "content" that they purposely removed. *cough* Destiny *cough*
Well considering it's all procedurally generated, if the game did have new content it would be additional audio and art assets in new algorithms, which can't be explained in 30 seconds to the average gamer.
Can you play with your friends? "Yes" *kappa* Is there a competitive element? "Yes" *kappa* Can you grief? "If you want that" *kappa* The game is fucking fun as hell, but I don't like how right now people are confirming you can't see other players at all
yeah, all these people going in on sean on reddit arent giving him a chance, if you look on his twitter it looks like theyre having server issues. and its only the first few days, they might have turned that feautre off because they didnt expect people to find each other that quickly
Everyone calls this guy a liar, but you have to understand that the scope of the project, and what they were able to get in on the deadline kept on stretching farther apart during development. Hello Games probably had a lot of this planned but weren't able to meet up with it during development. You can't blame this guy, especially considering he did all of the public appearances appearing in front of thousands of people on cameras and lights.
I totally agree - in the end I think people still harping on him for the past look like the assholes at this point, considering instead of taking the money and running, he ended up implementing most of what he says yes to here and much more as _free updates,_ funding all post-release development with the initial income. At this time they had nearly _2 more years until release,_ and an insane amount of hype fueled by the press. Everything being asked was technically possible to implement in that time, so he didn't want to say no and disappoint everyone, or yes to everything and over-promise. The way he says "...yeah" to multiplayer, for example, totally has the tone of "we should be able to do that" but not the tone you'd take if it was a 100% for sure thing.
so, they said that the game would have a lot of stuff that we just discovered that it didn't have after launch and we shouldn't call them liars for saying those things?
@@AnonyIUW I don't think you understand the definition of the word "liar". Someone can only lie when they know what they are saying isn't true. Hello Games _thought_ that they were going to be able to get all of this into the game. However, development was rushed, and due to the partnership with Sony, they had to release the game by a certain date. That isn't the behavior of a liar, it wasn't an intentional mistruth. Eventually, they got all of that content into the game, so it's clear it was planned ahead.
I will buy this game just because i Like this Guy personality. He is so honest and has a unique personality among all developers. He acts like a fan not like a sales man
Cloud ffvii PKP completely agree, hes so anti social and fear stricken by media and people, very insecure. But hes actually a pretty witty intelligent and enjoyable person in these interviews.
Sean Murray just looks back at this video and checks off all the Yes & Nos he has since made possible in-game. One of the greatest people leading one of the most dedicated teams of all time.
When you watched this. He did say he doesn't like answering the questions and he's uncomfortable. BUT he said no to things that ARE in the game now. Base building, space stations and massive freighters. And now full Multiplayer. They were slow, but it wasn't much of a lie in the end. I feel it was just rushed. Including for what I believe it an indie company.
"Will you be bored playing this game?" "Yes, sometimes." This actually compels me even more to buy this game than I was before. Every developer who says "you'll never ever be bored playing our game" is lying and Sean is above that. He doesn't have to say the game is perfect because it will speak for itself.
I also like the prospect of being bored wandering around some empty planet, and then glimpsing some cave and being sucked into 6 hours of gathering, crafting and trading etc.
The forever grind will kinda be the source of boredom but there's a lot to look at and explore in between so the boredom shouldn't linger too long hopefully
Man you can almost taste the anguish in Sean's voice. It's like he wants to say as an answer for every question "Listen I'd love for ALL of this to be in the game but it's just not done yet." But the guys with the checkbooks at Sony need him to bullshit for them to keep the hype up because they said they wanted a game and they want the game now.
"Is life a miracle" - "No"..... Really? “An honest man, armed with all the knowledge available to us now, could only state that in some sense, the origin of life appears at the moment to be almost a miracle, so many are the conditions which would have had to have been satisfied to get it going.” - Francis Crick, biochemist and spiritual skeptic, shared the Nobel Prize for discovering the molecular structure of DNA
lol....based on what? we've discovered around 1800 planets so far, all of which are hostile to life, now granted there are plenty more out there but when you say life is plentiful in the universe you're speaking emotionally not scientifically because as of now we seem to be all there is.... to say otherwise is to make a statement based entirely on hope and not reason or science. No matter what side of the table you sit at (I happen to be a theist) you have to agree that considering the insane amount of parameters that need to be met and the amount of time we have (13.8 billion in the universe, 4 or so with earth) well then time wise and mathematically the probability that we are here is nearly ZERO. lol...creating abundant life in a video game doesn't exactly transfer over to reality, if it did then I could say jumping up and smashing bricks will give me a magic flower that grants fire magic.
Joe Danger: ~shrug~ You're taking a lighthearted interview too seriously. When anything abounds around you it's easy to take for granted, especially if you're not looking at it on such a grand scale. How is baby formed? Some creatures reproduce somehow (I say somehow because it's not always as simple as male-female sex) and voila. That's not miraculous, that's predictable, as are the chances of it failing.
We are part of the universe that has gained the ability to think about itself. I dont know if I'd call that a miracle but it's one hell of a beautiful accident.
Gmr Leon Let's also not forget every single detail of existence, from all the physics to how life and planets in general work (it's basically a giant machine). It's pretty miraculous if you look at it.
Adam Green kajo van der meer Yeah the main one I picked up on was when he said no NPC's, but recent footage has shown a fully integrated and highly populated worldspace
@Michael Robertson it's not a lie dude... Seriously the game now is freaking amazing...and now with tomorrow's update it's gonna be awesome! If you don't like exploring... Then is not the right game for you
***** Seeing manmade structures etc and every day life destroyed and the interesting factor of what happens or how things look after an apocalyptic event.
***** Often it's a grim reminder of our deepest instincts and how fragile is our shell of modern pro-humanitarian civilization. While war stories based in history can have a similar appeal and message, I find they quite often loose that appeal and power the further we are from said events. People tend to think what happened in the past stays there and will never affect them. Moving the action into the future creates a looming warning that in an abstract way can't be just shrugged of by pretending we have somehow outgrown it by now. Another thing is it creates a harsh environment for any protagonists to battle through giving the audience the more reasons to root for them. Lastly death is fascinating; The convulsions of a whole dying civilization are extremely fascinating.
1:35 "You can see other characters, and they can see you" - Sean Murray. LIES! Day 1 has players not being able to see each other. 2 players were in the exact same place at the same time on their twitch streams. Sean Murray and Hello Games MUST answer this controversy immediately.
Sean Murray has spoken on it. he was very surprised at how quickly people found each other and says that the server issues might have been the reason they couldn't see one another. so basically some type of glitch in the game. he said they are looking into it.
I really hope they add building in the game. Sean said that they might put it in the game if people want it. So hopefully people will ask for it. It would be so cool if you found a nice planet and just build a house on it. don't know why they haven't put it in the game to start with.
Miles Wright He's previously confirmed terrain deformation, so we might very well be able to *literally* destroy them. It would probably take forever though.
Killjoy0329 Given that the only data the server would need to update would be the new algorithm for generating the damaged sections, you could destroy every planet you came across for years and never crash it.
Will you be able to play with your friends? Yes Will there be NPC characters? No Will there be DLC? No Can you land on comets? Yes Will the game be fun? Yes Will the game be boring? Hesitant No Whats another name for this game? One Mans Lie
+Reezeyy i think the same. either that or there will be a bunch of solar systems in the middle were civilized planets will be. i can already imagine there is gonna be tons of people around there.
yeah, when he said "sort of" i reckon he meant earth before it was taken over by human, maybe we are the humans which take it over my landing on an empty earth! idk just a thought!
+Reezeyy i saw a good comment on a video that says it's just gonna be J.J Abrams holding a giant mirror creating the worlds biggest lens flare. either that or it's just gonna sean sitting on a couch, tapping his watch and saying "what took you so long? i've been waiting here for fucking ages!"
No I'm pissed af the game isn't worth 60$ for just flying around and looking at stuff, sean said that you would be able to see eachother and somebody met up with another person and they didn't see eachother and Sean has lied about some more stuff so fuck Sean and his lying ass
Q: "Is Arrakis in this game?" A: "No. But there is a very similar desert planet inhabited by giant sandworms. In fact, the novel Dune was one of the inspirations for this game." [NOTE: THIS IS ACTUALLY TRUE.]
It's a question I made up and wasn't in this interview. But the fact that Dune helped inspire this game and that a desert planet inhabited by sand worms is true.
Sean seems like such a great person. I'm so proud of hello games and what they are about to achieve. This is probably the only game I will ever play for the rest of my life and the only game I will ever genuinely enjoy! Thank you Sean Murray!!
Just about everything he said no to (and yes to, but cut later) is now in the game. From the things they were planning to do but couldn't get in due to constraints, to all the things they hadn't even considered. It's been an amazing journey.
@Dark Night no, it's about how they recognized their mistakes and decided to act on them. Most developers would not have done that, they would have just taken the money and run. If you don't recognize this, then it's your fault and you're missing out on one of the most expansive and interesting games of the last few years.
i love how he keeps poking at how something earth like exists in all his interviews. I can't wait to see if some civilization is out there, or atleast the remnants :)
SnipesMcFinley I want to have a Federation Starship, with an NPC crew, and we go down and cause mass extinction, (right after we take pictures of the sick animals)
can you exit your ship in space?!?!?!?! that's all I want to know... I wanna float aimless in space and burn up in a planets atmosphere because my character has a terminal illness and wants to go out that way...
things i wish the game add 1: the ability to build your own satalites or space stations as you home and you could use them to manage stuff or store stuff 2:the ability to farm to make more use for the animals and plants in the game with that being said they should add hunger,it also would be cool if i breeded two animals from the same speice i end up with a cross of both breeds (like selective breeding), why should they add farms? that would make a whole new way of playing the game. 3:PETS!!!!!!! 4:natural disasters like meteors hiting the planet, volcano eruption,tornado,etc.... 5:plantes with npcs 6:planets which have no communication, are hard to survive on, no life but they have really rare and expinsive elements 7:don't make hacking, modding be possible cause it would be hard for players to discover any new thing/achive any thing at all which would suck, cause if that happens the game losses it's purpose and i would throw the game in the trash if that ever happen 8: first 50 people who reach the center of the universe should have a cooler reward than any others espically the first one 9: no way of buying game currency with real currency 10: plz, add co-op 11: make the ships customizable(like painting, decoration, shape, size and if you add interiors to the ships you are FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!! 12:add activities like, first one to find the tresure you threw some where random gets the tresure (add hints like its in a red planet near a star which it's corrdinates are: (really hard math eqaution) 13:last and not least, plz don't suck
+Youssef Mohamed Planets witn NPCs (are their own alien language and dialogue interaction ala Skyrim) are confirmed. You actually have to explore the planet and read relics in order to understand their language. Planets with no communication and harsh conditions are in as well. There's no way to buy more stuff with real money. There is co-op, just not couch co-op. The co-op is hard to coordinate as the universe is very, very big. And there are in-game events, too.
Robert Larson "We", but I stand corrected given your +'s. I knew most of it as well. Just pointing out how bad it sounds when you list everything you cant do.
I am most interested in the level of detail they've put into the various planetary environments. I hope to see complex food webs and multi-level interaction between the animals. What I mean by that is an ecosystem where, maybe, a large fish eats a smaller fish, then a bird catches the fish, then a predator eats the bird. I hope to observe a living, breathing world that isn't just full of animals that act as set pieces, but do little other than attack the player or run away. I don't EXPECT to see complex social behavior (like herding, pack-based hunting, swarming, or social interaction) or tool use, nor do I expect to see a super-fine level of detail on the ecosystems (like nest building, hive building, or burrowing), but I do HOPE to see such things. Also I hope there are planets with various biomes instead of just one biome per planet. Arctic, tropical, temperate, arid, prairie, savanna, etc. would be interesting. If the ecosystem is sufficiently detailed, I'll probably spend all my time on one planet observing various interaction, but I realize that such a hope is improbably at best and I know not to hype this game up too much in my mind because it is already amazing from what they've shown.
Things people should know about this game that the developers lied about: -No multiplayer at all, you can't see eachother if you meet up at the same place -The star systems aren't dynamic at all, the planets are just clumped together without orbits, you can't even go to the sun. -you need to figure out everything, nearly nothing get's explained surely not the crafting system, it took me a fews hours to figure it all out and it can get really complicated. -You can't just fly to any star, you need to spend hours crafting antimatter to travel to nearby stars that have the guidelines to the center. -No costumisation at all for ships or your own character. -You can't land on asteroids.
They did lie. Only after the release they spoke about there not bieng multiplayer, i had already bought it by then, and we werent informed at all about the rest of the things like landing on asteroids, which is simply not possible. I actually can't play the game at all anymore now, when i landed on a bad angle i glitched through the ground and had to wait to die, then i respawned in the space station without a ship. So all i can do right now is walk around the space station.
Interviewer:"Will you be able to play with your friends?"
Sean: *looks him straight in the eyes* "Yes."
I came back to this video for that very reason, you most defiantly cannot play with your friends.
+TheyCallMeGerbin well technically you can
+Scotland Ball what do you mean by technically
you cant even see each other's face
Well you can play in the same room
+CyborgMan NHD I mean you can find other players. It's just they realized later on the possibility of finding someone is very slim.
I feel like this style of interviews should continue. It's just so simple yet effective and quite hilarious.
+Christian Froude Check our RUclips features playlist, we also have this style of interview for Quantum Break and Destiny.
Game Informer Thanks!!
+Game Informer I'm so glad there are more of these, this was so funny
+Christian Froude it would only work with this guy other game devs are douches not telling u anything becuase there afraid it will effect sales but this guys honest
+Daywalker777r Yeah I agree, watching other devs go to this process would be like watching Martin Shkreli testifying in congress.
Q: Are you uncomfortable?
A: Yes
Cause he's lying through his teeth
this was years before the release you moron. things change.
jeremy lacasse 💯 like
@@expressrobkill Moron. Bitch.
I thought crowbcat edited it in until I saw this 🙃
“Is there intelligent life in this game?” - “the players hopefully ”
Now there legitimately are Ai and npcs.
Like Alien races
incredible how there weren't even plans for that back in 2014.
hopefully XD i can already see the planet names
lol best joke ever 2016
+Rahul Garg
The best part is, AI and NPCs are a big thing. They may not look like it, but they are. If they could make them in an actual complex way in a year or less, then I am very optimist when I look to the future of Hello Games and No Man's Sky's updates.
"Can you teleport back to your ship?"
"No"

Thiago Vidal There is nobody to come help you. Players are so far away you would potentially have to wait months to see another person.
***** It sucks when you can't find your house in MC,
bennemann I think that you would just mind the stuff around your ship then travel to like another runway type thing so you wont be incredibly far from your ship unless you want to be.
They should put Waldo on one of th planets and make the ultimate where's waldo
YESSSS!!!!
+Kerim Djigirkhanov and they should put rare pepes scattered around random planets as well
+Kerim Djigirkhanov An Ultimate mission, to find a Waldo-needle in a Universe-sized haystack? Hell yes... It'd give me a purpose, while I explore.

YES BITCHES
I think Sean converted this into a to-do list.
This is probably one of the best interviews I've ever watched
It is truly amazing.

would be funny but I'm sure I've heard him say that there is a naming filter in place. Humans can't be trusted :)
A lot of questions he answered with 'no' are now a 'yes'. The game really evolved over the years.
And even more of those he answer 'yes' were 'no' at the release.
No Man’s Sky’s universe is infinite.
You can only have one ship.

Some planets are the size of Earth.
You might visit a “dud” planet.
You’ll have a health bar.
You can land on asteroids.
The game features black holes.
You’ll sometimes get bored playing it.
There’s no downloadable content.
You can’t select the gender of your character.
Not all planets can sustain life.
You can’t collect plants.
You can’t build a shelter.
You can’t teleport to your ship.
You can’t build a space station.
There is a shop.
There are no non-player characters.
You can’t terraform a planet.
You can’t destroy a planet.
You’ll get many objective markers.
There’s no noticeable gravity difference between planets - your suit compensates.
You can’t reach the edge of the universe. “You can go into the darkness for as long as you want.”
You can’t ride a dinosaur.
I was kind of disappointed with a lot of those last answers you listed :(
You can't *accidentally* destroy a planet. You can intentionally destroy a planet "a little bit."
Noah Fence not those ones xD
McArthur Alford You can't ride a dinosaur though D:
there is "a shop" in the whole universe, well good luck finding it.
"you can see players and they can see you" - well so much for that Kappa
Will probably come out eventually in an update so I have plenty of time to wait while exploring and trying to get to the center
so sad some sheeps just wont understand they got ripped off by primitive marketing tactics...

Oh, but there's no multiplayer.
Oh, wait, you cannot customize your character either.
Don't worry, they'll fix it with a DLC.
Oh, he said there'll be no DLCs...
There's multiplayer, you just can't see them.
Holy shit. He actually answers "yes" to "are you uncomfortable?". I thought Crowbcat edited it to make it look like he did.
Would be amazing if some planets had huge ass tsunami's on it like the one from interstellar.
+Vendable Bow Sean Murray: No, but that´s a good idea...
Huge ass tsunami's confirmed
Vinicius Castro lol
+Vendable Bow Indeed
+Vendable Bow NO. Stop that.. You're hyping me up. sssstop it.
Funny thing is, at least one year of development of this year was delayed due to a flood, so a tsunami in this game would be ironic LOL
But i would love to see natural disasters. I think that asteroids are confirmed, so why not?
Can you build your own space station?
"Um no..you cant *whispers* but thats a good idea"
Space stations confirmed
I hope they add that when finishing up the game
+Steven Travers They might add it in an update.
+Steven Travers who wants to build a space station and stay trapped in a corner of the universe while it's an exploration game ^_-
Utroll yea but space stations can move
Steven Travers ok I thought station means it is "stationary" ~ like in "railway station". So basically it's a big big big ship... I see. That could cost a lot :)

Don't worry. It's long over by now. =3
LukeDude759 Fun fact: You can actually delete comments on your own comment strand by flagging them. Just get rid of his stupid boob fondling comment and literally all the rest of the comments about that comment and the world will be at peace again.
LukeDude759 so you cant cross species!!
***** Samuel Lacey You know what, let's just delete this conversation, pretend it never happened, and we can start over and just be friends and we'll all live happily ever after. Or something like that.
Man this guy lies more than Todd Howard.
+Scotland Ball You should.
+Scotland Ball Lol are you kidding me? Watch the E3 videos of Oblivion, He constantly lies.
Scotland Ball You can keep making excuses for the game and the lies. Keep in denial fam.
CJTheLegend What did he lie about during E3 talking about oblivion? I'm jw I'm not disagreeing
No longer relevant
Interview guy:Hello Sean!
Sean:Uhhh,sort of,yes
"Will there be DLC?"
"No"
Interesting, does this mean that the post launch content will be free?
+chiffmonkey it means, any content that comes out for the game will be a free download, just like how it is with GTA5.
basically added on content will be free updates
+chiffmonkey I love how we have to ask that question like a small child that's been beaten over the head with DLC his entire life xD it's really sad actually.
+Nyxato Not really, if a game is released in a great state at launch then there is absolutely no reason why any post-release content is expected to be free. Hence the existence of expansion packs and subscription models.
chiffmonkey Expansions are understandable, constant DLC that totals over the cost of the original game is unreasonable.
It almost sounds like you cant do shit in this game
Ikr
Actually, it has changed a lot, look for the IGN First 21 minute gameplay.
+Slyrae ik but after this video and the games in 16 i got scared a bit.
Imperial Ace Scholar
Not that an IGN review for any game in the last 8 years has any credibility anyway.
They Should make it so they just keep updating it instead of DLC
+Awesome3250 He said no DLC :)
That's what I meant they just keep updating it instead of dlc
Awesome3250
He said most of the updates would be adding more stuff to do.
That's good
They should make it like warframe where they update the game every few months and keep adding stuff to it :)
"You can see other characters, and they can see you."
a.. little yes
Server issues
Yeah.
If you're looking at them from across the room, or something..... Lmfao
great theory ? but failed miserably
Kaz its true tho lmao
The entire game is now officially One Man's Lie...
now is No Man Redemption.
@ I see you haven't kept up to date
Not anymore!
Not anymore
definitely not anymore after worlds 1
Molyneux would be proud of this guy.
.
lol!
He at least delivered one of the best original games...Dungeon keeper, Black and white, The Movies...
rofl
no
"Will there be DLC?" "No."
That's the final confirmation I needed.
Well they sort of can't do doc unless they make everyone who gets the game buy it because everyone is bascically on one giant place
***** He is. He really is.
westonman211 It's possible. MMOs have been doing it for the last decade.
Oh well ok then xD thanks for informing me, and i agree Sean is awesome!
+westonman211 Hey, np :)
+Emma Anderson What would they even add as DLC? New places? No, it's procedural. Costumes? No, you can't see yourself. Upgrades? That ruins the in-game economy and is too microtransaction-y. See, there's not much DLC stuff to add.
+HaloEliteLegend NO MANS SKY FTW
For those who aren't sure about the game:
Think of this: You fly into a planet and explore a bit.
I feel like I'd get bored of that within a good week or 2 of playing.
pure poetry. =)
I felt like I was actually there
I really like that idea. Thanks.
Yeah thats if there was actually something like that in caves in No Mans Sky
I almost feel bad for the guy because of all the criticism, but he really brought it on himself.
For anyone that doesn't know, in this game, you will:
collect resources
upgrade your suit and ship
go to space stations
buy stuff
hire A.I. mercenaries
become a merchant
fight pirates
become a pirate
interact with stuff
use your multitool (which is a device that can do multiple things depending on the attachments you put on it, like shooting and collecting resources. It was shown in the original trailer as a rectangular orange gun shooting a laser I believe)
etc.
There is more to the game, but not all of the info has been released of course.
Apparently ships are not upgradable. :(
Thomas Jiang It's more like you go out and buy new ships with different looks and stats, you just don't get to upgrade that one singular ship.
***** That's what I'm talking about. I remember back in September or something, when I heard that you can stick with one ship that you can upgrade and that the idea is that you become attached to that ship overtime. Seems like that's no longer the case at least in the beginning of the game.
Thomas Jiang You can still add stuff to it.
432neptune Wait, I think I remember hearing this, too. So you CAN add things to your ship?
Looking back on this interview, I don't understand the hype people had for NMS. He said "no" to basically everything.
Interviewer: "Will there be DLC?"
Sean: "No"
My mind was fucking blown when he said that...
I wish there was dlc. Like if they added the ability to build or something.
Wait, wait hold on.... So there's no DLC? But yet He says there will be land vehicles added in later? That makes no since
Chronas 9.9 It means they will be added for free into the game, have you never played a good online game?
Can you play with your friends? "Yes" *kappa*
Is there a competitive element? "Yes" *kappa*
Can you grief? "If you want that" *kappa*
The game is fucking fun as hell, but I don't like how right now people are confirming you can't see other players at all
Sean Murray said 9999 times that this game is so huge...chance of meet someone is tiny. So pls stfu
from what ive heard people have found each other and coordinated meetups, but havent been abel to actually see each other
A1 Meme Dealer possibly due to them being on different servers no doubt
yeah, all these people going in on sean on reddit arent giving him a chance, if you look on his twitter it looks like theyre having server issues. and its only the first few days, they might have turned that feautre off because they didnt expect people to find each other that quickly
***** the one Sean references multiple times... what are you getting at?
@@iBot. they got everything except PvP which is what is most lacking at this point
I like how every question is now true except the "fly into the darkness" thing. Even some of the things he said no to are now possible. Nice one Sean!
The most genuine answer so far has been the answer to the question "Are you uncomfortable?"
I will buy this game just because i Like this Guy personality. He is so honest and has a unique personality among all developers. He acts like a fan not like a sales man
HAHA
Oh, sweet irony...
🤣🤣🤣
No Country For Old Man's Sky 2016
Mister Disco aha
went back to this and he’s basically done everything that he said he would
It’s crazy how many of these are now in the game compared to their “maybe” or “no” states over a decade ago
There's something incredibly likeable about Sean Murray. No homo.
Cloud ffvii PKP completely agree, hes so anti social and fear stricken by media and people, very insecure. But hes actually a pretty witty intelligent and enjoyable person in these interviews.
He's a real human, who is humble about his creation and doesn't spit lies to sell a game like randy pitchford, or peter molyneox
So true
Cloud ffvii PKP >no homo
Why not?
Cloud ffvii PKP Sean Murray kicks ass!
5 years after, some of the NOs are now YES.
Sean Murray just looks back at this video and checks off all the Yes & Nos he has since made possible in-game. One of the greatest people leading one of the most dedicated teams of all time.
Started with lies😂
@@happybuggy1582 that's the best part lmao
@@happybuggy1582
end with glory
When you watched this. He did say he doesn't like answering the questions and he's uncomfortable.
BUT he said no to things that ARE in the game now. Base building, space stations and massive freighters.
And now full Multiplayer.
They were slow, but it wasn't much of a lie in the end. I feel it was just rushed. Including for what I believe it an indie company.
"Will you be bored playing this game?"
"Yes, sometimes."
This actually compels me even more to buy this game than I was before. Every developer who says "you'll never ever be bored playing our game" is lying and Sean is above that. He doesn't have to say the game is perfect because it will speak for itself.
Every game in the world will be boring no matter how much you can do, you can find, you can kill, you can meet
I also like the prospect of being bored wandering around some empty planet, and then glimpsing some cave and being sucked into 6 hours of gathering, crafting and trading etc.
+Marth Shepard that's happened to me when I used to play minecraft
he said he will get bored cause hes the developer on next question he says the other guy wont get bored
Eh, there's your difference. Life over origin. Origin of life? Sure. Life itself? After it's around, nah, not too much.
lol....based on what? we've discovered around 1800 planets so far, all of which are hostile to life, now granted there are plenty more out there but when you say life is plentiful in the universe you're speaking emotionally not scientifically because as of now we seem to be all there is.... to say otherwise is to make a statement based entirely on hope and not reason or science.
"is this the game your playing where your spreading your seed across the universe"
yes
"Is there intelligent life in this game"
"The players hopefully"
I died
A lot of the stuff he said no too in this video have actually been added!
Like what?
collecting plants for instance
+kajo van der meer and now there are several npc races to interact and learn from
Adam Green kajo van der meer Yeah the main one I picked up on was when he said no NPC's, but recent footage has shown a fully integrated and highly populated worldspace

I would also like to see a post-apocalyptic game with a procedural wasteland, and instead of star-fighters, you use motorcycles and cars and stuff.
So just a bigger Fallout, with vehicles
***** Seeing manmade structures etc and every day life destroyed and the interesting factor of what happens or how things look after an apocalyptic event.
***** Eat shit.
After so many years, most of the things that were promised actually became a reality now. Good job hello games
1:35 "You can see other characters, and they can see you" - Sean Murray.
LIES! Day 1 has players not being able to see each other. 2 players were in the exact same place at the same time on their twitch streams. Sean Murray and Hello Games MUST answer this controversy immediately.
They don't have to answer shit.
+Raajur They do if we're buying it
Sean Murray has spoken on it. he was very surprised at how quickly people found each other and says that the server issues might have been the reason they couldn't see one another. so basically some type of glitch in the game. he said they are looking into it.
They said at launch it's not multiplayer
Console peasants are not allowed to see eachother.
#PCMasterrace
no npcs but there is player interactions? SEEMS LEGIT
I want a series where this guy interviews famous developers in this exact style.
I really hope they add building in the game. Sean said that they might put it in the game if people want it. So hopefully people will ask for it. It would be so cool if you found a nice planet and just build a house on it. don't know why they haven't put it in the game to start with.
Miles Wright *****
"Can you purposely destroy a planet?"
"A little bit."
*FUCKING SOLD.*
I'm guessing he means we can destroy or severely damage eco systems or the atmosphere, but not blow a planet to bits.
Miles Wright He's previously confirmed terrain deformation, so we might very well be able to *literally* destroy them.
It would probably take forever though.
New year resolution : crash the server by destroying every planet you come by.
Killjoy0329 Given that the only data the server would need to update would be the new algorithm for generating the damaged sections, you could destroy every planet you came across for years and never crash it.
Will you be able to play with your friends? Yes
Will there be NPC characters? No
Will there be DLC? No
Can you land on comets? Yes
Will the game be fun? Yes
Will the game be boring? Hesitant No

+Reezeyy i saw a good comment on a video that says it's just gonna be J.J Abrams holding a giant mirror creating the worlds biggest lens flare. either that or it's just gonna sean sitting on a couch, tapping his watch and saying "what took you so long? i've been waiting here for fucking ages!"
haha lol
"Is there intelligent life in this game?"
"The players...hopefully."
Love the reply.
A lot of haters lately, but I just can't hate Sean and his team, Sean is such a humble person.
Bias confirmed, thanks.
No I'm pissed af the game isn't worth 60$ for just flying around and looking at stuff, sean said that you would be able to see eachother and somebody met up with another person and they didn't see eachother and Sean has lied about some more stuff so fuck Sean and his lying ass
did you buy the game? no? okay
+Your_Boi_Shinymudkip your a bloody idiot
I love how Sean isn't vague at all but just gives straight answers. An honest developer. A good developer.
Lol
That is one of the best interviews I've ever seen.

Marlos Cruzeiro Soares Filho Literally.
+Marlos Cruzeiro Soares Filho kinda ironic that the game is about space travel and you call him "down to earth"
+Marlos Cruzeiro Soares Filho No earth is not in this game.
I think it's obvious now that Sean didn't intend to lie, he just talked about vision he has of this game instead of the current state of development
i played NMS last days and it looks like they've designed everything after that interview time to time :D
Q: "Is Arrakis in this game?"
A: "No. But there is a very similar desert planet inhabited by giant sandworms. In fact, the novel Dune was one of the inspirations for this game."
[NOTE: THIS IS ACTUALLY TRUE.]
Preston Dixon did i miss that question?? did he actually said that?
It's a question I made up and wasn't in this interview. But the fact that Dune helped inspire this game and that a desert planet inhabited by sand worms is true.
Preston Dixon oh ok thx for the reply :) yes i do know that,i remembered him mentioning Dune
This interview is The Godfather of game journalism.
Brilliant. Sean is such a likeable fella. Can't wait to see more from the game.
cool!
Love how much coverage they've done. Wish I can see like actual gameplay for an extended amount of time.
Sean seems like such a great person. I'm so proud of hello games and what they are about to achieve. This is probably the only game I will ever play for the rest of my life and the only game I will ever genuinely enjoy! Thank you Sean Murray!!
How did that work out for you?
We need a WALL - E companion
Just about everything he said no to (and yes to, but cut later) is now in the game. From the things they were planning to do but couldn't get in due to constraints, to all the things they hadn't even considered. It's been an amazing journey.
@Dark Night no, it's about how they recognized their mistakes and decided to act on them. Most developers would not have done that, they would have just taken the money and run. If you don't recognize this, then it's your fault and you're missing out on one of the most expansive and interesting games of the last few years.
Watching this again after internet historians video makes so much sense to me now
i love how he keeps poking at how something earth like exists in all his interviews. I can't wait to see if some civilization is out there, or atleast the remnants :)
Maybe our solar system is at the heart of the universe.
i bet it's all fucked up if it is :)
Well he's most likely saying that something earth-like could exist because there are literally 18 quintillion possible planets in No Man's Sky.
+Cameron Armstrong Music there are NPC's but no huge cities will exist tho.
there is, and you also have to learn there languages, and at that there are millions of intelligent species
Jeff: Can you build a space station?
Sean: Uhhh, no. *quietly* that's a good idea...
Space Stations likely to be in development at a later point.
SnipesMcFinley I want to have a Federation Starship, with an NPC crew, and we go down and cause mass extinction, (right after we take pictures of the sick animals)
Game Informer! We need another of these interviews before launch with updated information!
can you exit your ship in space?!?!?!?! that's all I want to know... I wanna float aimless in space and burn up in a planets atmosphere because my character has a terminal illness and wants to go out that way...
+Nick Mckeehan interesting fantasy.
+LUIGIII ok ok Sean...do you want to see your family again?..put it in the game...
+LUIGIII damn it....*walks away with head down*
Nick Mckeehan you would just have to try it you might die tho
cringest thing i've ever read
things i wish the game add
1: the ability to build your own satalites or space stations as you home and you could use them to manage stuff or store stuff
2:the ability to farm to make more use for the animals and plants in the game with that being said they should add hunger,it also would be cool if i breeded two animals from the same speice i end up with a cross of both breeds (like selective breeding), why should they add farms? that would make a whole new way of playing the game.
3:PETS!!!!!!!
4:natural disasters like meteors hiting the planet, volcano eruption,tornado,etc....
5:plantes with npcs
6:planets which have no communication, are hard to survive on, no life but they have really rare and expinsive elements
7:don't make hacking, modding be possible cause it would be hard for players to discover any new thing/achive any thing at all which would suck, cause if that happens the game losses it's purpose and i would throw the game in the trash if that ever happen
8: first 50 people who reach the center of the universe should have a cooler reward than any others espically the first one
9: no way of buying game currency with real currency
10: plz, add co-op
11: make the ships customizable(like painting, decoration, shape, size and if you add interiors to the ships you are FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!
12:add activities like, first one to find the tresure you threw some where random gets the tresure (add hints like its in a red planet near a star which it's corrdinates are: (really hard math eqaution)
13:last and not least, plz don't suck
+Youssef Mohamed
Planets witn NPCs (are their own alien language and dialogue interaction ala Skyrim) are confirmed.
+Katarn thanks for letting me know, I hope the game lives up to the hype
This was probably the best interview ive ever seen, hilarious, and simple.

Robert Larson You got a mouse in your pocket?
Nikola Tesla what do you mean
Robert Larson "We", but I stand corrected given your +'s.
I knew most of it as well. Just pointing out how bad it sounds when you list everything you cant do.
I would love him to answer these dames questions again so we can see how far the game progressed.
My favorite question was *Are there blackholes?* and the answer is *YES*
OMG! I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE GAME!!!!!
+Patrick Star same aha
One of the best interviews about anything I've ever seen.
Informative, entertaining, and funny XD
Things people should know about this game that the developers lied about:
-No multiplayer at all, you can't see eachother if you meet up at the same place
-The star systems aren't dynamic at all, the planets are just clumped together without orbits, you can't even go to the sun.
One thing people should know about this video:
-It was made 1 year ago, Which means things can change.
You're a dumbass.
+Colonel Sanders you are an idiot defending this pile of piss
+CaesarGamer You're an idiot for assuming I'm defending this game, I'm just tell this dumbass they didn't lie.
