The dude for real seems down to earth, humble af, and he shows that he has the passion to produce something great. This man is straight up inspirational and for real I'm hyped as hell to play the game, but even more so I'm hyped to see Sean and his team be successful. If anybody from Sean's team read this comment or if he reads it himself I just wanna say that imma be throwing money at y'all like its nobody's business and support your already great work. Good luck to y'all man
I agree. Also, despite being way out of his comfort zone, Sean gave a great interview! He is obviously passionate about what he does which will make an amazing product. Knowing what kind of heart goes into this game will make it 10X's more enjoyable....... I want to work for him.
For anyone wondering what this game is like... You can: collect resources (no crafting has been mentioned) use them to purchase new suits and ships (no upgrading, go to space ports) buy things from the market (and deal with various economies) explore hire A.I. mercenaries become a merchant fight pirates (among many other foes) become a pirate interact and deal with the flora, fauna, atmospheres, etc. of each planet (which will only get weirder the closer you get to the center of the universe) Use your multitool (tool that does multiple, various things depending on the attachments you put on it, like shooting, collecting resources, etc. It was shown in the first trailer as a rectangular gun-thingy) And more (that we don't know of)! You are also encouraged to to to the Center of the Universe. It's basically a somewhat streamlined space sim with various exciting new elements to it that will make it endlessly fun.
Yeah I would imaging there is crafting of some sort be it via vendors needing resources to create the item or being able to use a "work bench" in your ship. But when he said "next Minecraft" I thought to myself, we might be looking at the next billionaire Notch like developer. I would like a release date for this game. Either that or a Entwined type release. Like, Here is the game, its available now for download .
Beats, Games, Life -ZimM804 Nope, you just collect resources and use them like money. Also, there aren't any NPC vendors. Ships, enemies, creatures, etc. are all there, but you don't see actual people NPCs. You access the market via space stations, by the way. I imagine you go there and access the menu, and what's in the market there depends on the place and economy. Don't know for sure if that's what they'll do. Just the part about markets, economies, and space stations.
Crafting have actually been mentioned, but still they have no obvious recipes and how the crafting will be done. All recipies will all be unknown, until No Man's Sky gets a wiki-page... Suits are upgradable (oxygen/laser/collecting/armor/stealth/heat protection, etc, etc...), different classes of ships are purchasable at space ports and this ships will also be sold in many different levels, depending how much you are prepared to pay for them or have afford with... No Man's Sky is not a MMO, so no markets will exist and there is only one currency (known as, units)... You can't hire AI mercenaries, but you can help different AI space factions to a certain extend, where they will start to provide you assistance with wingmen ships, by a simple button press if they are close by enough... Agressive pirate AI factions will probably exist, as also friendly AI factions will... You can become a pirate, just wage war against every AI faction there is and hope your ship can take the hit. Interaction with flora, fauna, atmosphere have been mentioned. Such as plants can be poisonous, you not being the top of the food chain on some planets and certain planets having gas instead of oxygen and therefor require a upgraded (crafted) suit...
Harry Halme Yeah, that is true. The way I heard it way slightly different, but I'm pretty sure you're actually right. I know that it isn't an MMO by the way. But then where do you buy things? I don't mean the market system from other MMOs, I just meant the part of the space port where you buy stuff. Hello Games had also mentioned that the ships from the first trailer were A.I. that you were partnered with, and the way they mentioned it made me think of them as an NPC you could get to work alongside you, which is what they were basically saying anyways. I just used the term mercenaries. because that's what came to find. I also forgot entirely about factions.
Steve Karamaltidis You did read the other comments right? The other guy is much more on the spot with some things. Just thought it was worth mentioning.
Dark Tenka same man. Today I was binge watching no mans sky stuff and watching like every interview of Sean and he seems like a really humble and hard working guy. I dont even have a ps4 but Im probably gonna get one just for this game.
No sweat bro, it's coming to PC. But yea I was totally doing the same thing, I think it started with the one where he showed some of the dev tools he was using and how the LOD works with the preset algorithm. Just the tech behind this game gives you the impression that this guy is a complete genius (even though he won't admit it). If I hadn't been burn't by hype so many times I'd be calling this guy the next John Carmack/ Notch, right here and now.
Dark Tenka I have really high hopes for him being the next Notch/John Carmack. He's just a very likeable guy. And yes he is definitely a genius. The amount of time and work he's put into this game (and continues to do just that) is just incredible. Im also extremely happy that there won't be any dlc.
+Dark Tenka don't let this guy be like notch, who got one good idea and retired, let this guy make many games of huge scope and push thelimits of waht games are
A.N.H D He's very humble. A lot of people who make ambitious games are very full of themselves and their creations. Murray comes across as very genuine in his love for game design.
+A.N.H D cause hes down to earth making games with a passion and not like most of these assholes that just toss shit out for money thats how i know this games gana be amazing
Yep, very down to earth guy who seems like he'd be cool to hang out with. I pray he goes through with putting this game out on his own. Buying this for my niece and nephew if it comes out before holidays. I think itll be a great game for kids into science or for getting them interested in it if they arent already
I've never been more excited for a game. A lot of people seem to be expecting way too much from this title, though. There is no point inventing fantastical ideas, and then being disappointed when the game is released, for things they never even promised. There is plenty of time for them to build up from this refreshing concept! It's only the beginning, and the first chapter in what I hope will be a long lasting franchise
Holy cral bro u just spoked the future lol. Disappointing and one of the worst releases yet in gaming history, to one of the greatest comebacks in the gaming industry
Sean is the most down to earth and real developer i have ever seen he is like just so happy and excited to talk about his work and he cares about it so much
@@ayylmao575 well at least they picked themselves up and not started on a new game. The game is now a masterpiece. He and the team are far beyond forgiven
Found out about this game last night....I'm saw the name in a RUclips comment talking about massive open world and checked it out.....that was the first good RUclips comment I have ever read....I am hyped....I can't stop watching vids about it...I've only known About it for 24 hours and I need it now....
I love seeing these sorts of things from the gaming industry. Makes me feel like there are still gamers making honest games. Treating it like a form of art as opposed to another pay check. Really feels genuine and I'm a 100% behind these guys. Keep it up!
Hello games has gone really far with this idea. The amount of work they seem to be putting in is amazing. Small companies like this bring us new games, something that big named companies cant or mostly prefer not to because of the risk in loosing money.
The only people disappointed with NMS are the people who didn't know what the game is. It's a procedural exploration game. Not Tom Clancey's CS go modern warefare ghost cocks 10 minecraft edition solar citizen IV.
Like he said at the end, this game totally has me on forums (reddit) saying some ridiculous things that I don't want to look back on, and it is fucking awesome. You can tell he, and by extension the rest of the team, are really passionate about the game and really believe what they're doing, and that gets me excited about it as well. Can't wait for this. Watched probably 2 hours of interviews/trailers and it hasn't been boring uninteresting just because of the sheer passion. Keep it up guys.
When he's describing the game at a pixel level and then on a macroscopic level, it almost looks as if he's had an overview effect. Which is what some astronauts have described feeling when they view the Earth from orbit. You can honestly see how passionate he is about not only the game but in science itself.
No Mans Sky is coming out around mid-2016 provided no major issues are found between now and then. It is currently in what you would call an almost beta state, there are still bugs with the maths around procedural generation for planets (incredibly complicated, probably the kind of algorithms most developers would struggle to understand), not to mention the game is running on its own engine, not something like Unit. As you can probably tell from the video, Sean is actually a really introverted guy. This is why he comes across as quiet and nervous all of the time, incredibly talented and a perfectionist when it comes to his work. The graphical aspect of the game is just one part, you have the gameplay mechanics and server-side aspect to contend with as well. Hello Games know this game is highly anticipated and there is pressure for it to be perfect upon release (given how long it has been in development). The game is also being developed to work for the Oculus Rift and Morpheus VR headsets, both of which are not planned until the first half of 2016 for release. Sony will be using NMS as the centerpiece for showing off what the Morpheus headset can do (which adds to the pressure of this game being perfect on release). Get excited. The hype is real and this game is being released in 2016.
Cannot wait for this game, the scale and freedom is almost unimaginable. Also Sean has an amazing personality and you can really see his contagious enthusiasm and pride in hello games and the game while being so laid back and modest.
Imagine if all the amazing game people like Sean Murray, Gaben, Todd Howard, etc sat down and worked on a game, putting money, and all that other shit that ruins games aside, and making a game that is focused on a GAMERS standpoint, and not a marketing standpoint *COUGH EA*
EA kind of screwed up battlefront.but I got my money's worth just because i am a gamer that doesn't care to much about content.only graphics(sort of) and gameplay(major).
Sean Murray is such a likeable guy. I love his humility and his desire to just do things the way he wants to. I think having a smaller team creates a better environment for everyone to become more than just co-workers, but family. Anyway, I cannot wait for this game, looks absolutely incredible.
I want to see an EA developer sit in that seat. i think the subtitles would read: "money money money money. Money! MONEY! MONEY! money? mon mon? money? mon money mon money moniiiii money mumy mony monzey money! Oh you were asking about the game? HAH!"
Thanks for posting this extended interview. I enjoyed every minute of it. I just couldn't stop watching. I totally think Hello games will deliver with No Man's Sky, and I Don't think they'll disappoint anyone.
Currently my most antisipated game on ps4. i like the way he is reserved about the whole thing and just wants to make his dream game. dont see the same passion in the making of AAA games.
i dont get why he keeps throwing shade at joe danger it was solid but besides that people who wonder why its not on lunchbox one its because microsoft is big and intimidating and they dont make it comfertable for devs to work with them unless your EA or ubisoft because microsoft is only interested in having this big image not having games that are diverse and fun you see how he said it was just natural to bring it to the ps4 because we have friends at sony every dev says that they like sony because there reachable and down to earth you cant say that about many company's...................
I'm so glad Sean is down to earth (no pun intended), being an indie developer he has all the more reason to make the game great and not just a hyped up piece of crap like a lot of games recently. Also, the great thing about this game is there is always new things to see. When I play a game long enough, I've eventually seen everything at some point and it gets boring after that. But with NMS we not ever even see all of the things in the game!
He (Sean) should really look up some comments, most of em are really nice, like yours :) Not just that though... I actually agree with you with what you said about games being kind of the same in a way
+Roko567 If you had wrong expectations, yes. If you had actually informed yourself, it's a cool game. In my opinion Hello Games made a good base to turn into an actual game, it got released where it's not fully developed yet
Yea bro! The release of this game was one of the worst ever but unlike other companies, they picked themselves up and now the game is extremlly better then people expectations before the release
I love this guy, he and the team made something amazing and he keeps talking about being afraid that it's gonna fail. and he keeps being honest about it, they don't spoil everything, they just say this is the game, i will not give you details like almost every other game. I just love the campaign. I hope the will give us a release date soon, so we can start counting down!
My most anticipated game of 2015, I'm not expecting this to be Halo or Destiny. This will be a unique kind of game that I'm sure won't appeal to everyone. But that's ok by me!
I liked what he said about really trying to grasp your mind around the number of stars in the universe to the number of them you only see in the sky at night, its very true. No matter how scientifically progressive someone may be or how imaginative they are, Though they can understand the idea behind number they can never truly understand the vastness... Hope the game does well.
i wont pre order the game i want to see reviews and that before no doubt it will be amazing but i want to see reviews and know if their will be a monthly cost before i buy the game
No need to be insecure about being on camera! Most other dev's would have bored me somewhere half-way through the video whereas you seem passionate about gaming and have a vision, that makes me want to watch many more!
The fact that this game has no gone through a bunch of different updates and is still being worked on, all for free, means that Sean didn't actually lie, at least not with malicious intentions. He built up what he WANTED the game to be inside his head and used his vision as a placeholder for reality, for what he actually DID have in the game. It's a shame because I'm sure he actually did plan to have all of this stuff in there, but it never ended up working out the way he wanted it to. But I just wanna say, there are actual people out there that are scam artists, con artists, sociopaths, etc. And they all seem charming as hell, just like this guy is. Your first reaction to one of these people will always be "wow, such an inspiration". It's not like in the movies where you get creeped out just by looking at the guy and you're like "I'm outta here". They're likeable and charming. Don't throw your heart out (or your wallet) for someone just because you get good vibes from them. You're supposed to get good vibes from a con artist, that's kind of the whole point. But yeah the fact that they're continuing to support the game, all for free, makes it clear that this guy obviously isn't a con artist or anything like that. If he was, he would have just taken the money and ran.
for the last 24 hrs since i found out about this game ive been hyping like crazy and pulled every bit of info i can about this game hoping i will learn enough to be satisfied, but hype only grows. i need this now. Sean's so genuine about what he wants from the game and how much he wants people to love it that him alone makes me want to buy it. and once i can play this on Morpheus it's game over for me
This seems like the most ambitious project in gaming history, this guys need to downgrade all of the expectations for it so that people don't flip out if this game is not what they hoped. I still think it's going to be a great game it just seems like people might expect too much at the moment.
I think he's totally right at 35:22 people are saying that this has a vastly different experience for everyone that plays it and that it's going to have infinite replay value. Creatures that are generated are going to have the same template with different colors and parts slapped on but the same behaviors and animations, ships too. Planets will have variety but one ice planet with storms will be similar to another. I think it will be a fun game but I don't think it will be as revolutionary as the hype around it, it can't possibly be.
he actually backs up how its possible. the power on consoles now is pretty legit. and the algorithms in the game make the differences possible. it sounds impossible. but we will all have our minds blown. he said the trailers show us what were familiar with. they grounded it. we have not seen anything
that's how people set themselves up to be disappointed. Yes they haven't shown everything but it's not a magic content machine. People have noted that they run into the same angry goat looking creature from time to time, albeit with different horn arrangements and color patterns. I imagine it will be a lot like a 3d starbound without base building, which is good because I like starbound, but it isn't going to be this infinitely replayable industry game changer.
Hello Games are basically the gaming equivalent of the Magratheans. When I play this game, I'll be listening the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy theme for ages (as well as the in-game music)!
I have so much respect for these guys. The passion, commitment and love they show on their projects is amazing and endearing... I have already preordered No Man's Sky, and I have no doubt it's going to be a success, but if it fails I feel absolutely honored to be giving these guys my money. They represent to me what the gaming industry should be, so yeah, please take my money and do wonderful things with it!
When I was explaining the size of the game to a friend when I pointed out that every player is starting basically on a separate planet and each one has between 40-100 hours minimum to get to that central planet.... she got a good idea of the scope
I can hear the passion he has for his work. Amazing stuff. Looking forward to getting it and supporting their cause. "I don't look in the mirror... well that's obvious" Awww bless. This guy's so anxious... somebody give him a hug! Sean worked on Burnout?! :o AWESOME.
I don't know what it is about this guy but I really like him. I can't help but think "Yea I'd have him over for dinner and introduce him to my family". He seems like a cool guy I could have fun hanging out with and talking nerdy with. lol I just want to buy him a beer and hang out.
I watched this video in 12 October 2015 and the game is still not out! Why? Please release it already! Please! Someone! Release it already! Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaase!
Can't wait. Hope the PC gets good support, and especially Rift support. Looks like it'd be really good for modding too :) Dunno if they integrated some modding tools, scripting tools, dedicated server support, multiplayer communities, ect... That'd be really interesting.
I don't think it will support mod because of the procedural generation. Think it that way: a tiny change in the game codes can drastically change the whole game universe with unpredictable consequences
God modding doesnt work like that. they can let you mod some stuff or some other, its not a pile of cards that touching something will make everything crumble. besides if it does, the modders will figure out how to make it work just like they always do
***** maybe in other games, but this game is almost completely procedural so any small chance in the seed code can have unexpectable consequences. Sean said it itself in an interview: if they want to make a bunch of flowers under a tree, and they insert them in the code, here it goes there are flowers under the tree and it looks beautiful, but then you look around and all the trees have flowers and on every planet happens that and the animals that are programmed to eat flowers will stay stick to trees and also predators and here it goes it's a mess
What's great about this game is before I even heard of this game, I wanted this game.... For instance I was playing Minecraft and I just thought wouldn't that be awesome to get into a ship and head into space without a loading screen and land on another planet without a loading screen. It seems so small, but I have a feeling a lot of people had this same train of thought also. This game could be the next Minecraft; I don't want to give this game the kiss of death or so called jinxing it BUT I have that much confidence this could be huge.
This shit is truly inspirational. What that company has done is absolutely incredible. This guy is terribly honest and he's for sure on the side of truly creating memorable experiences based on...well....what they love. I can't wait to see their future projects, but this game might be enough to secure them alone!
This guy is the living embodiment of what the gaming industry needs to be, he's so passionate about what he does, I can't wait until no mans sky comes out
No I was just expecting a purpose, I mine shit just to upgrade my storage so I can carry more shit. NMS apologists act like everyone who hates the game just want pvp death matches. I just want to feel like I am doing something that matters. Shit if I wanted to waste my time I'd go outside and watch grass grow.
question: are there unique assets in the game not procedurally generated but subjectively picked and shaped by the devs? something maybe like special artefacts? or is everything remaining out of direct control from the devs (apart from the basic art compost weaved in all over)... ;) This is exiting!
Supposedly not too large. The world is not pre-built and saved onto the disc, it generates the specific point the player is in and then forgets it when the player moves on. The mathematical formulas mean that so long as the same parameters are passed into it, then the same point in the world will be created each time a player visits it
Elliot Barnes-Walton That's what I'm hoping for. If this game is small and sells well, perhaps other developers will take notice and start using it for their games. I'm getting real tired of these 40 to 50 gig install sizes that are becoming common place.
***** True. Pre-rendered cut scenes are a big part of the problem. I do think these same movies could be done with less space if they are rendered in real time using in game assets. I also think they could cut the size down by generating textures in real time instead of re-rendering them as well, but that might be a bit too much for the average game designer.
He's so modest. He should realize the impact this will have on gaming. I'm already in awe over it. This will be one of those games I won't be able to put down for a long long time.
+Tiki Torchs it is your own choise to make quest for urself, the game dosent told u to do that or that u just have to do it and explore it urself and decide what is your "quest"
metsapuro Well I mean like, will we find bandit camps, fleets of enemies, and be able to ally with other clans/faction of aliens for more help and resources. And maybe even join the pirates
BUT they are probably hiding lots of things as in settings, because we've seen alien animal things die a lot in no mans sky, yet Sean said there is a lot of different blood types when creatures die.
+Clementine There isn't blood in this game, I have no clue where you got that info but Sean himself has stated that he doesn't want the game to have blood to keep the beauty of it all.
Considering it a completely new engine, im assuming people will have to wait for it to come our before they can see about the customizability of it. If they were to release the engine to people, i doubt it would be to mod no mans skys though considering small changes to a game like this could make huge user impacts.
I really enjoy listening to Sean Murray talk about this game, I think I just like him as a person he seems cool. I'm gonna rinse No Man's Sky when it's out. Been playing Elite: Dangerous in the meantime to tide me over but not being able to get out of my ship and explore and go find new lifeforms uggghhh it's so annoying haha
The dude for real seems down to earth, humble af, and he shows that he has the passion to produce something great. This man is straight up inspirational and for real I'm hyped as hell to play the game, but even more so I'm hyped to see Sean and his team be successful.

Drew Peterson YES! You sir, have won this day.
Durodes Duvo It's never the length, it's the girth that bothers people.

They should make a new nobel prize category for most genuinely laidback, modest and friendly guy and dedicate the whole category to Sean Murray.
LMAO
Shut up and take my money. I know that is a meme and a cliche, but I actually mean it, just shut up and take my money.
Fine!!
+Smirv I'll take your money. :)
Ha, futurama!

not the best idea

You enjoying the game? or are you gonna lie and say it was worth it?
"He is so inspirational and honest..." ROFL
I could go to sleep to Sean's voice reading me a bedtime story.
XD Wtf
+Dan Watson he is the Morgan Freeman of gaming
+Dan Watson Wtf XD
Haduken dude he is... Give him another 30 years and his voice will be perfectttttt
Sean is the most down to earth and real developer i have ever seen he is like just so happy and excited to talk about his work and he cares about it so much
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
You really didn't see that coming did you dumbass?
Ayy Lmao niggaaaaa
@@ayylmao575 well at least they picked themselves up and not started on a new game. The game is now a masterpiece. He and the team are far beyond forgiven
Found out about this game last night....I'm saw the name in a RUclips comment talking about massive open world and checked it out.....that was the first good RUclips comment I have ever read....I am hyped....I can't stop watching vids about it...I've only known About it for 24 hours and I need it now....
Same here :D
John Schwalb AND HOW DO YOU FEEL, I'M DYING just waiting for the release date :'(
John Schwalb AND HOW DO YOU FEEL, I'M DYING just waiting for the release date :'(
Still excited
+John Schwalb :( i have wanted this since 2014 e3
I love seeing these sorts of things from the gaming industry.
Makes me feel like there are still gamers making honest games.
Treating it like a form of art as opposed to another pay check.
Really feels genuine and I'm a 100% behind these guys.
Keep it up!
😬
I wish every developer would be more like this man.. not all about money, but the game itself. The passion is incredible.
I think it's easier to be passionate about it when it's your own company and you're doing exactly what you want with a small team but yeah I agree
Lol nope
Hello games has gone really far with this idea. The amount of work they seem to be putting in is amazing. Small companies like this bring us new games, something that big named companies cant or mostly prefer not to because of the risk in loosing money.
Bratniel Rios The smaller companies are really the biggest companies.
+Zer0 / Amen brother
+Zer0 / Absolutely
This guy is a great icon for the video game industry
Its just sad the game lacks content that isn't repetitive
The only people disappointed with NMS are the people who didn't know what the game is.
It's a procedural exploration game. Not Tom Clancey's CS go modern warefare ghost cocks 10 minecraft edition solar citizen IV.
Yeah, and whos the dumbfuck now?
Wild YT recommend this today as we are hyping up over a single compass emoji tweet from Sean haha. What a CRAZY journey No Man's Sky has been.
Am I the only one taken by the humbleness of the Sean Murray?
+Vheissu psychic much?
+Wham.mlg Comes out June 2016 :D
+Vito Jurado 21st to be exact
Damn, you weren't far off with that release date prediction
I genuinely hope this game does extremely well. This man and his team deserve it. He's such a genuine guy. He sold his damn house lol
@GreenTea we can all forgive him now, he and the team turned the game into a masterpiece now
Cannot wait for this game, the scale and freedom is almost unimaginable. Also Sean has an amazing personality and you can really see his contagious enthusiasm and pride in hello games and the game while being so laid back and modest.
Still love this man! My favorite developer
Sean The No Man Murray, I like listening to this guy talk.
+MrYeetXI COUGH COUGH UBISOFT
Dude you got me thinking 😄
money does not ruin games. without money there would be no games.
ILostMyAccuracy I meant the greed behind it
his personality alone makes me want to buy the game
what about now?
MrElectric25 kinda forgot about this game haha
What about now?
Kinda forgot about this game haha
What about now?
This game's idea and technology running it blows my mind it's almost hurting my head like when you think about space - this is the future!
Sean Murray is such a likeable guy. I love his humility and his desire to just do things the way he wants to. I think having a smaller team creates a better environment for everyone to become more than just co-workers, but family. Anyway, I cannot wait for this game, looks absolutely incredible.
I want to see an EA developer sit in that seat. i think the subtitles would read:
"money money money money. Money! MONEY! MONEY! money? mon mon? money? mon money mon money moniiiii money mumy mony monzey money! Oh you were asking about the game? HAH!"
+Guts Except it would be far more veiled in words like "DLC", "Series", "Bonus", and "1080p 60FPS".
+Guts That's what happens when you do that just for a living :/
+Guts dont forget blizzard...
Turns out, even small companies translate: money money money...
At least they're making free content updates for the game
Am I the only one who thinks Sean is adorable?
+Jose Velez The whole company is adorable. Ever been to their website? "We are Hello games, we make games, Hello!"
He's pretty damn adorable m8
Nathan, I literally just went "awwwww" outloud. That's a really cute and amusing slogan.
He's like a young, likable Christoph Waltz character.
He's precious!
Alex Borucki HAHAHAHAHA!!!
Sean's charisma stat is at 11
His charisma stat is at 20 bro 11 doesn't even have a modifier.
Yep, that's why all you dumbfucks bought his shitty half assed "game"
have fun playing cod and tea bagging other 14 year olds.
Imagine if all game devs were fueled by the passion that is evident in this guy's character. Top bloke
i dont get why he keeps throwing shade at joe danger it was solid but besides that people who wonder why its not on lunchbox one its because microsoft is big and intimidating and they dont make it comfertable for devs to work with them unless your EA or ubisoft because microsoft is only interested in having this big image not having games that are diverse and fun you see how he said it was just natural to bring it to the ps4 because we have friends at sony every dev says that they like sony because there reachable and down to earth you cant say that about many company's...................
I smell a fanboy
***** Your catching on...................
Yeah. I'm sure Microsoft hurt the development of your indie game. Oh wait... You are not a game developer? Then stfu.
I actually agree with you with what you said about games being kind of the same in a way
Honestly that's the greatest non intended pun I've ever read lmfao
3 months later... everything turned out the opposite way. It is indeed a hyped up piece of crap
+Roko567 If you had wrong expectations, yes. If you had actually informed yourself, it's a cool game. In my opinion Hello Games made a good base to turn into an actual game, it got released where it's not fully developed yet
wow, how much deluded can you be?
his smile says how passionate he is about making video games :')
Great Interview! I'm super hyped for this game. I hope Hello Games can pull off something really special!
LOVE your interview segments, GI. Keep it up and thank you! :)
This guy is so awesome, he sounds and speaks so honestly.
I want to play the game so bad!!! I can't wait!!
no
rall *yes
(PS: When he was "lying" he wasnt lying, he just thought the feature would make it in, but sometimes bugs happen and it HAD TO be taken out)
My most anticipated game of 2015, I'm not expecting this to be Halo or Destiny. This will be a unique kind of game that I'm sure won't appeal to everyone. But that's ok by me!
i could sit and listen to him talk all day
bet yall didnt see that comin didya
See what? I'm 80 hours into No Man's Sky and loving it.
And some people played cookie clicker for 100+ hours... so?
So just cause one person has fun doesn't change the fact it's broken on pc.
c'mon I run the game just fine on an i5 2320 and a 280X it's nowhere near "broken"
Again just cause it works for you doesn't mean it doesn't work for everyone else.
Sean Murray's stomach growls at 1:25 you are welcome.
I liked what he said about really trying to grasp your mind around the number of stars in the universe to the number of them you only see in the sky at night, its very true. No matter how scientifically progressive someone may be or how imaginative they are, Though they can understand the idea behind number they can never truly understand the vastness... Hope the game does well.
can't wait to play this game already pre-ordered
+Valconous Huzzah?
Nah longer then that.
+Zeearthyy he said that b4 the delay
I pre-ordered since day one
i wont pre order the game i want to see reviews and that before no doubt it will be amazing but i want to see reviews and know if their will be a monthly cost before i buy the game
my fav con artist
you people use that term waaay too loosely
Con artist my ass 😂
They need to make a 24/7 twitch stream of a ship flying thats be sick
Inspirational. Truly.
God,how i like this guy! He's so modest, honest and sympatic keep it up sean :)
Me too.
Ample17 so what do you think now?
No need to be insecure about being on camera! Most other dev's would have bored me somewhere half-way through the video whereas you seem passionate about gaming and have a vision, that makes me want to watch many more!
Ill be delighted to play this on my channel once i get setup!
Yup
I agree
This guy is very relatable to us thats why hes so normal
Really fascinating interview. This guy oozes charisma. He really has that image of being a pioneer/thought leader...I don't know. Special dude.
Watching him today 2016, hes a natural now - compaired to last years interviews, and hes enjoying it
for the last 24 hrs since i found out about this game ive been hyping like crazy and pulled every bit of info i can about this game hoping i will learn enough to be satisfied, but hype only grows. i need this now.
I like game informer SO much more than IGN
It's incredible to see sean working on a project like this
I think he's totally right at 35:22
people are saying that this has a vastly different experience for everyone that plays it and that it's going to have infinite replay value.
I agree as well. Sean doesn't deserve all of the hate he's getting -- this is all a result of people overhyping the game.
HE overhyped the game. There is video after video, quote after quote documenting just that. He deserves every bit of backlash.
Hello Games are basically the gaming equivalent of the Magratheans. When I play this game, I'll be listening the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy theme for ages (as well as the in-game music)!
I noticed there was a "42" on the building in one of the trailers LOL.
I have so much respect for these guys. The passion, commitment and love they show on their projects is amazing and endearing... I have already preordered No Man's Sky, and I have no doubt it's going to be a success, but if it fails I feel absolutely honored to be giving these guys my money. They represent to me what the gaming industry should be, so yeah, please take my money and do wonderful things with it!
ive seen this video like 9 times now. Still amazing
This guys looks really passionate about what he does, must be great to do something you love so much.
For people wondering the game size it's supposed to be around 15 out 16 gb
i sometimes feel bad for this guy. no man's sky doesn't deserve so much hate
dennis 212 Oh really. I think lying, faking gameplay and calling manually created planets procedually created planets is pretty critical.
dennis 212 lying to us and giving as an indie for $60.... yup sure.
Especially in its current state.
Dylan Humphrey boy is it fantastic right now. They're making a solid recovery 👍
I love the fact that he cares what people think of his game he's not going put out half assed bullshit .... Ubisoft ..ea ... Activision
Yikes, that didn’t age well
You can see just how passionate he is about the game his team has created and the subject the game is about. It's refreshing to see!
When I was explaining the size of the game to a friend when I pointed out that every player is starting basically on a separate planet and each one has between 40-100 hours minimum to get to that central planet.... she got a good idea of the scope
He is a cool dude, very real and himself, no facade.. You don't see that a lot nowadays.
Nothing but respect for this man
I can hear the passion he has for his work. Amazing stuff. Looking forward to getting it and supporting their cause. "I don't look in the mirror... well that's obvious" Awww bless. This guy's so anxious... somebody give him a hug!
Sean worked on Burnout?! :o AWESOME.
Wiki the game "Noctis" from 2000. See any similarities to NMS?
Noctis Lucis Caelum.. FFXV FTW!
I don't know what it is about this guy but I really like him. I can't help but think "Yea I'd have him over for dinner and introduce him to my family". He seems like a cool guy I could have fun hanging out with and talking nerdy with. lol I just want to buy him a beer and hang out.
Same
That one dislike is a hater
Just a hater.
it is a Gray.
I bet it was accidental
A wild COD-player appeared.. It used dislike...
Iluminati confirmed
Really can't wait for this game. The main Dev seems like a swell guy
I think they said they're giving out mod tools and hope people don't ruin the game with mods
But yes, there may be some little things that can be modded but they are so few I doubt it would make a difference
This guy is the living embodiment of what the gaming industry needs to be, he's so passionate about what he does, I can't wait until no mans sky comes out
i have a REAL dinosaur that i can sell for 32875667534r236452134t216547547234 money units, want to buy?
LOL
LMAO...
WizPigTactics i think the game is amazing, we just got a lot of dumbasses right now, goin in expecting a space combat game
No I was just expecting a purpose, I mine shit just to upgrade my storage so I can carry more shit. NMS apologists act like everyone who hates the game just want pvp death matches. I just want to feel like I am doing something that matters. Shit if I wanted to waste my time I'd go outside and watch grass grow.
nice. more special interviews with developers pls
question: are there unique assets in the game not procedurally generated but subjectively picked and shaped by the devs? something maybe like special artefacts? or is everything remaining out of direct control from the devs (apart from the basic art compost weaved in all over)... ;) This is exiting!
I wonder how big the install for this game is going to be.
Supposedly not too large. The world is not pre-built and saved onto the disc, it generates the specific point the player is in and then forgets it when the player moves on. The mathematical formulas mean that so long as the same parameters are passed into it, then the same point in the world will be created each time a player visits it
Elliot Barnes-Walton
That's what I'm hoping for. If this game is small and sells well, perhaps other developers will take notice and start using it for their games. I'm getting real tired of these 40 to 50 gig install sizes that are becoming common place.
*****
True. Pre-rendered cut scenes are a big part of the problem. I do think these same movies could be done with less space if they are rendered in real time using in game assets.
I also think they could cut the size down by generating textures in real time instead of re-rendering them as well, but that might be a bit too much for the average game designer.
now even 1 or 2 giga, cuz its like playing in an minecraft server, its all generated and the internet or cloud with run it
***** Skyrim doesn't have any cutscenes?
Don't shut up, but please take my money. I love hearing this guy talk. His accent is wonderful and he just sounds like such a genuinely nice person.
I love how he is having the time of his live while watching us wonder what the game is going to be like
The best thing ever is Saun like saying how great the game is yet trying to be modest.
He's so modest. He should realize the impact this will have on gaming. I'm already in awe over it. This will be one of those games I won't be able to put down for a long long time.
How do you feel about the game now that you've played it (if you have)?
Will there be like quests or something else to do in the game either than explore and upgrade your stuff?
+Tiki Torchs it is your own choise to make quest for urself, the game dosent told u to do that or that u just have to do it and explore it urself and decide what is your "quest"
metsapuro Well I mean like, will we find bandit camps, fleets of enemies, and be able to ally with other clans/faction of aliens for more help and resources. And maybe even join the pirates
Why u Have To know all this? Cant u just chill And enjoy what this amaizing game has To offer
They should have made a kickstarter o.o... I know I would have helped fund No Mans Sky
+Markus Petersen they did.
BUT they are probably hiding lots of things as in settings, because we've seen alien animal things die a lot in no mans sky, yet Sean said there is a lot of different blood types when creatures die.
He said in this very video that they didn't. Where did you get that from haha wtf
I think they don't want to be owing people to live up to their expectations. Maybe that's why they were hesitant about Kickstarter.
+Clementine There isn't blood in this game, I have no clue where you got that info but Sean himself has stated that he doesn't want the game to have blood to keep the beauty of it all.
I love listening to Sean, I can do it all day. He's so awesome!
Stomach rumbling sound at 1:25
- no problem
Lol nice catch
Jesus right On 1:25 my stomach started rumbling... Scared the shit out of me
Whats the likely hood of this Engine hitting the market for developers? Any possible Mod system for dev's?
Considering it a completely new engine, im assuming people will have to wait for it to come our before they can see about the customizability of it. If they were to release the engine to people, i doubt it would be to mod no mans skys though considering small changes to a game like this could make huge user impacts.
very true i hear ya.
9 days to go - lost count how many times I've come back to this video
so close now to the release cant wait!! gunna put so many hours in it lol and yr i aways come back to this video:)
This man is amazing.. I can't stop listening to him.. He is so inspirational and honest... Seriously can't wait to get my hands on No Man's Sky!
Nexen4Games I'm going to buy a console to play this game. The story of the developers is so compelling that just makes the game even better.
Pretty sure it's just a timed exclusive for PS4
Austin Newell it is but I don't think it was know 3 weeks back lol
David Saucedo "Tonight at the PC Gaming Show at E3 2015, [...] No Man's Sky will launch on PC and PlayStation 4 on the same day."

:)
Well this is awkward..
