Thanks for demoing the same bleeding planet for the eleventh time, Sean! This really inspires a lot of confidence that the game will have endless variety!
+nadav sagi Agreed. I can't wait to just land on some quiet , forested, unknown planet in the beginning of my journey and just meditate and look into the sky wondering what my journey to the center will bring. Day one purchase for me.
+sxy qt3.14 You have to mention you're a mathematician, to point out that you have also noticed that 3 minutes is different than 90? All us mediocre people who've had simple calculus had quite a thrill finding out that difference.
+Lord Lord I am really glad that there are so many planets. The odds of finding someone randomly is astronomical. Also with the idea that people can rename anything for anyone else to see, I really don't want to come across a dinosaur named "Penis Neck".
+Lord Lord i agree, multiplayer has its place but when im talking or walking around with a bunch of people i find i cant take it all in as well, i like the idea of just me and the world and maybe the odd chance to bump into someone that would make it really special
This game has potential but I feel like this might just be minecraft on console, something that's fun for a couple hours and then you're bored because you've run out of things to do. Trillions of planets and all you can do is look, admire and mine...such a massive game and yet so little can be done. I feel like once I get to the 3rd planet I'm not gonna feel that wow factor I did on e3 2014. Try adding a community center where characters can meet up, talk about things they've found, add different quests to do, character customization, planets unnaccessable because the AI aren't developed far enough to witness a space ship, groups/squads to search together with or even planet colonization for endangered animals, cool stuff that makes this more enjoyable and brings the player community together to show off gear and work together.
For a lot of people saying this game looks boring, Sean specifically said that he hates giving away too much information on a game before it releases, and that he wants the players to discover everything the galaxy has to offer on our own. I personally love this approach. There are quick scenes in earlier videos of huge wormlike creatures, and some with massive dinosaurs. He even stated that you can burrow down into planets and discover vast cave systems with resources to mine. AND even said that when we reach the center of the galaxy we will discover something that will open the game up even more and will make us want to keep playing. And this is just information that he's allowing out! I for one cannot freakin wait for this game. I will probably use a few of my sick days to call off work when it releases. And will probably go through a few bags of ganja during those days hehe ;)
+Dale GribbleYEE Lol man ganja is a necessity for a game session of a couple days. And especially for this game. Im gonna take like 2-3 days off and be straight lit the whole time and playing.
+MrDacaramelbrotha how very convenient! he hates giving away too much information! In other words he knows this game is fucking shit and is stalling till it's release
The event was exclusive to paying folks so i wouldn't hold my breath. Check the NMS subreddit for a description of the video. From what i read, they didn't show much new footage but the guy said that they showed an eclipse.
Can't wait for this one. It is definitely my most anticipated. When it releases I am going to stream a ton of it, and watch as many videos as I can to compare the variations of planets and lifeforms. I just really hope it sells enough to get the support it needs to continue to grow.
I can't wait to actually play this game, the concept itself is so just amazing to me. However, I notice in these recent public appearances that when Sean is playing, he often looks away from the alien life, and looks at the sky or the grass instead. Why? I really want to take a look at the creatures but it's as if he's trying to avoid viewing them for more than a couple of seconds. I notice they spawn at quite a noticeably short distance, and sometimes they seem to move rather haphazardly, so maybe he's trying not to focus on them too much until people actually play the game for themselves and realise it doesn't matter too much. Personally I don't care, because the game looks absolutely breathtaking anyway. I just wish he would show the game for what it really is and not avert his eyes away from all the aliens. Also, do you guys know why there are so many of those flappy-tailed beaver-like creatures in the recent demos? Is it the same planet he's landing on? Or are flappy-tailed-beaver-type life forms a common occurrence in NMS's universe? I'd like to add that I'm not complaining about the game as a whole in the comments I made above, I understand the ambition and vastness of this game is really quite something given how small their team is, and I cannot wait to explore the beautiful cosmos they are creating :-)
+CanidsAndCicadas I believe he has said in earlier demos and reports, when they present the game they have been changing the variables to make the pretty planets more common and show off only a few types of life to: A. Not spoil the game B. Show you how pretty NMS can be I believe I recall him saying when the game releases, beautiful, life holding planets will only come every 1/5 planets on average, not every planet to make it that when you find a planet with life on it, that is a gorgeous as the one in this preview, you cherish it and spend time on it. I don't know if they are scraping that idea incase people dont like that idea of finding barron planets alot, but i love it, I cannot wait for this game!!!!!!!!! It's all i've wanted in a game. Pure, never repetitive, massive space exploration. Been waiting years for a game like this.
+tom doling It's really hard making everything beautiful, if it is procedurely generated. Because you don't really see where the grass and all that stuff is placed. Also, you can't visit every planet and check if everything is right. Even in the final version, there will be people finding crazy planets, where the numbers just went crazy and made something that shouldn't exist. All just because of the randomness this game will have. In a typical game, you can (have to) place each individual asset by yourself, that way, everything is where it's supposed to be. Just keep that in mind watching these early preview demo's
***** Dude, be happy about the delay. Delay = more polished game! He could've release it already, the demo's he showed off would make many people play this game. But he wants this game (HIS game) to be perfect. And *You* want that too! ;)
+tom doling okay I've just watched part two of that interview. I'm a little bit worried because the planet that he visits in the second part of the interview also has the exact same type of creatures as the planet in the first part, except that they are tweaked just a little bit. We've still got brachiosaurus-type creatures, dodgy haphazard deer, and flappy tailed beaver things, only their forms are adjusted slightly compared to the creatures in the last videos. I'm kind of worried that the alien life from planet to planet will all look too similar. Unless of course he's doing it on purpose so as not to reveal too much. Even in the trailers all the creatures are so similar: bison/buffalo creatures, deer creatures, sauropods, gopher/beavers, 2 legged weird creatures. It just worries me, that's all. I so desperately want this game to be good.
CanidsAndCicadas If you watched the Video, then you should've seen him show the editor, where they have endless variants of a ton of different animals. He is just showing a bit, because he wants people to explore them themselves for the first time. Not through some shitty RUclips video
+Nicholas Harris exactly! I want to know everything they talked about. I've basically given up on a release date, but I love hearing what Sean has to say.
I keep telling myself No Man's Sky will likely disappoint me, but then I watch a gameplay demo or an interview with the head dev and it immediately hypes me back up
I really hope that you can have more than one account so that if you want to, then you can stay on just one planet and explore for weeks, while at the same time have another account so that you can get to the center of the galaxy.
considering the amount of time i've put into Destiny basically doing the same thing, how can people say "sounds boring" or "i'll get bored after an hour". me, i'll be playing this game for years if the trading/exploring and crafting works well. hell, i'm at the level 34 cap on Destiny but yet i still play it every week. ;)
Is there also a demo where the animal density is kind of realistic? I mean, so far I have seen demos where there is no life or where there are just tons of animals. And they are always immediately there when you land.
I know it's just the demo but I think it would be nice if you could interact more with the creature (as in being scared, curious or aggressive) or give you the option of having that
Guys how big do you think this cave, or hole in the asteroid is at 0:25? I think it could be like 50 meters in diameter you really can't tell because of how fast he is going.
They really need someone on their team to manage the marketing for this game. These demos just don't do the game service. And the lack of advertising is causing some fans to like u, to forget about the game or completely loose interest in it.
Imagine flying down to the heavily forested planet Noktuku. The atmosphere was rather strong, gotta upgrade my heat shields soon.... Landing in a clearing only a few tens of meters wide. The humidity is atrocious.. You hear the sounds of the jungle and the high calls of unknown reptilian creatures far up in the canopy. You walk through the jungle and notice the sun is setting, but need a certain element to upgrade your ship's blasters. You dirty space pirate, you. You arrive to what seems like a small opening in the ground but shoot your plasma rifle down and the light reveals a vast cave system. Walls glittering with the element needed. You make your way down, blasting a path along the cave walls with your plasma blaster and start mining. You hear a small rumble in the dark further down the cave. You keep mining, cause you're a greedy bastard. Few minutes later you hear a ferocious roar in the dark of what sounds like some cave dwelling dinosaur. Large by the sound of it. The walls are shaking. You can hear it approaching from the depths. You turn around and run for your life up the self paved path, hearing the creature gaining on you, and barely make it out of the cave. You start walking toward your ship in the now dark rain forest. Little alien luminescent plants glowing around you. Clearly a beautiful, alien sight. I should document these species of weird glowing bugs.... You hear the beast approaching from the cave entrance. You run through the darkly mystical forest back to your ship, climb inside and hit full throttle. As you ascend into the atmosphere, you level in the stratosphere and gaze down at the beautiful, yet deadly planet... Then make a course to to the next planet in the system...... This is game I have been waiting for.
the only thing that worries me about investing time into this game is when they said if you die in space you lose everything and have to start over all over again and lose all discoveries and resources and ship. Of you die on a planet you dont lose your ship and get respawned by the ship but you will lose all resources and discovers you found if you have uploaded them to a beacon before getting killed. So that makes me not even want to go into space to.another planet if I can die so easy and lose it all just like that. They better fix dying in space cause we should never lose our ship or discovers and game currency of we die in game. Its a game of exploring and why explore for weeks, months and years on this game to die in space somewhere and have to lose it all and start all over. Makes me not want to waste time playing it then if I can lose it all so easy just by dying in space.
+Erxv1 the second planet wasn't nearly as bad. It was probably a loading issue considering he just landed there. No load screens = shit has to load at some point.
+Erxv1 think that was just loading so you can have a loading screen or pop in, truth is i just want the game and to me its starting to feel like the new duke nukem i hope im wrong but if im still waiting for this when im 36 i'll be pissed FYI i am 27 now
+MrPalmTree Yes, many completely barren planets. Sean said it should be around 90% of planets that don't have life, so that you keep that good feeling for when you do find planets with life on them.
My only complaint/worry is the render distance. It's kinda ruins the atmosphere to see something pop into existence or finally render properly right I front of you
This is another comment that'll go into the abyss thanks YT but I can't wait to get munted to this on holy-herb and just let my imagination run riot around the galaxy
I love how Sean Murray is a rocket scientist genius unlike myself and all of you slobs, yet he humbles himself. Take note, rap generation. This is how to conduct yourself.
+Audfile I don't think VR is what's holding the games release back.No man's sky is men't for long gaming sections and VR is men't for short gaming sections.
We're at that strange point in time where people who couldn't otherwise give a fuck about video games want "exclusive demos". Maybe if Will Wright hadn't made for Spore for 4 year olds who are sensitive about Evolution, we'd see the same thing back then.
I also hope this game can be played w/o wifi. I have wifi, and have a strong connection, but every now and then, in like disconnects. The only game i had was Destiny, and i couldn't play it.
I kind of hope there are more alternatives to the ground than the basic familiar grass and trees on other planets. These are alien planets..Let us walk on goo.
I feel like this game would be better, and I dont know if this game has this, if it were slightly smaller, and with planets with full fledged cities full of people or alien people. Plus RPG element like a story, even if its a story where you are you and you do what you need to do.
That's more what I am expecting the next Mass Effect to be. Might wanna keep an eye out for that if you aren't already. This game is more for those who read old sci-fi like 'Dune' and thought about how they would really love to explore a working universe like that.
+Just Gamer I just hope cities, npcs, weapons and underground areas are procedurally generated too. Also if nothing really ever "loads" then how would anyone ever really discover something you already discovered? Also if you discover a million planets... Do they all get saved? Or do they end up all regenerating everyone you go back to one.
+Scott Denton not too sure about NPCs, but weapons, suit upgrades, ships and ship upgrades, and he geography that would create underground areas are all procedural. It's not that nothing load, it just loads everything at far less detail. Detail is filled in as you get closer and it enters your field of vision. If you find a planet it will be the same for anyone who happens to find it. There is terraforming too. Nothing has really been explained in detail, but theoretically I don't see why someone wouldn't be able to either dig a fortress into a mountain, or even destroy an entire planet (a personal goal of mine).
Jason Egan I don't think VR is what's holding this game release back.No man's sky is men't to be for long gaming hours and VR is men't for short gaming hours.
I like the concept of this game and how you can explore infinite planets and walk around and stuff but i feel like there isn't enough to make this a solid game. It's going to get boring just flying to a planet, walk around a bit, and move on. Maybe there's a crafting system something they don't want to spoil but idk
Huh... is it their recording method right here or do the graphics suddenly look a lot worse than previous presentations? :O Everything seems to be made up of these horizontal lines that bloop in and out all the time... Everything's pretty obscured :S
that' s the lowest rendering distance i' v ever seen in my entire life xD i hope the final version won' t show me caves and mountains popping in from nowhere... at least on pc
A game where you basically o nothing. Fly, land, see that there is nothing to do, take off, fly, land, see that there is nothing to do... My god...They really need to make something with this game, at least construction or something... Because explore and killing animals?? Wtf???
I like how it still says "colbert system"
+Insomn lol i wander how many people noticed the system name :P
+Insomn haha good catch

Of you die on a planet you dont lose your ship and get respawned by the ship but you will lose all resources and discovers you found if you have uploaded them to a beacon before getting killed. So that makes me not even want to go into space to.another planet if I can die so easy and lose it all just like that. They better fix dying in space cause we should never lose our ship or discovers and game currency of we die in game. Its a game of exploring and why explore for weeks, months and years on this game to die in space somewhere and have to lose it all and start all over. Makes me not want to waste time playing it then if I can lose it all so easy just by dying in space.
Seems hella relaxing, they really need to nail the atmospherics... ambient sounds, graphics, and variation need to be on point.
"Im going to demo the game just walking around"
> everyone saying it looks boring
wow, that horrible pop-in creatures dont spawn more than like 50 meters away....
+Erxv1 It's procedural, what do you expect?
Matt McMadden what they showed in the first demo..........
+Erxv1 the second planet wasn't nearly as bad. It was probably a loading issue considering he just landed there. No load screens = shit has to load at some point.
+Erxv1 think that was just loading so you can have a loading screen or pop in, truth is i just want the game and to me its starting to feel like the new duke nukem i hope im wrong but if im still waiting for this when im 36 i'll be pissed FYI i am 27 now
+Unsought Gaming You haven't played Witcher 3 have you? :D
Are there airless worlds/moons in NMS??
+MrPalmTree Yes, many completely barren planets. Sean said it should be around 90% of planets that don't have life, so that you keep that good feeling for when you do find planets with life on them.
I know there will be Barron planes but are there airless ones? It would be cool to take a break from all the atmospheres from time to time haha.
He mentioned The Witness! Everyone please checkout The Witness!
FUCK I WANNA SEE MORE GOD DAMN IT I NEED THIS GAME
MOAR!!!
I think people seem to forget that this game is being developed by a team smaller than your average classroom size.
Is it confirmed that there isn't any other sentient beings except humans in the No Man's Sky universe?
+MACK players(not nesesarily human) and the robots trying to kill you
yes you can trade with aliens and fight alien ships
My only complaint/worry is the render distance. It's kinda ruins the atmosphere to see something pop into existence or finally render properly right I front of you
Dev: "Zelda if anyone has ever played that."
Me: WHO HASN'T PLAYED ZELDA!
Groundhog Day in spaceeeeeeeee
people are asking for more, we have the power so we dislike the video until the upload the whole thing
its hard to dislike NMS... 😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑
very true sir, bu tit could if they upload the ful version it will all get changed into likes. and besides I dislike the newyorker anyway :)
indeed sir, a typo sir
For a planet to hold your interest enough to stay there, you would surely need to be able to put your mark on it by building.
UPLOAD THE FULL BLOODY VIDEO FOR HEAVENS SAKES
Show the whole video.
how do i find this demo on ps4 or is it not out yet?
there is no demo for us to play and probably never will be
لعبة بفكرة جديدة تماما و اكثر من رائعة و لكن نتمنى ان تكون متطبات التشغيل ليس بتلك الضخامة
+M.GAMES You may not crash your ship into large structures among the stars
yes
+M.GAMES write in english wtf
Where's the rest
Nms with a star trek skin omfg
only if u can change the view in the game or make the character visible...u know :)
Can someone explain me? Is this like the forest, or rust? Is it survival?
Please post the full 90 min. Especially concidering you cancelled the stream last minute
*squints
Hey he did the exact same thing on the Colbert Show...
somebody please tell me when this comes out
June 2016 sadly
surprise it's garbage!
what happened to the 90 min uninterrupted gameplay
They can't give a release date until we get a release date for Playstation VR. A date for one gives away the date for the other.
+Audfile I don't think VR is what's holding the games release back.No man's sky is men't for long gaming sections and VR is men't for short gaming sections.
***** K thanks
We're at that strange point in time where people who couldn't otherwise give a fuck about video games want "exclusive demos". Maybe if Will Wright hadn't made for Spore for 4 year olds who are sensitive about Evolution, we'd see the same thing back then.
So, you have infinite possibilities and you show the same thing you showed Colbert here as well?
it seems abit laggy and he look at the sky for a while so it can render in the creature ahead of him instead of them popin up from nowhere.
I also hope this game can be played w/o wifi. I have wifi, and have a strong connection, but every now and then, in like disconnects. The only game i had was Destiny, and i couldn't play it.
+Zach Conant Sean Murray has said in other interviews that you can play the game completely offline if you want.
Happy Hoot Labels That is good news. Sometimes i get disconnected and i can't play destiny, or bo3 online, so i have to do bots and stuff.
"Shut Up And Take My Money"
I like Sean, but he was saying so many likes, like one after another. :)
why all this media attention if you're not going to give a release date.
iv been waiting for nms since 2012 and it will be the last console game I buy Sony is rumoured to confirm 27 Oct release date.
show us space combat.
I kind of hope there are more alternatives to the ground than the basic familiar grass and trees on other planets. These are alien planets..Let us walk on goo.
Does anyone know if asteroids can crash into planets?
I d love to be able to build houses on the planet
So ..... When is it coming out ?
+Green Man June 21st, 2016.
Aaaaaand still no release date.
Anyone in 2023?
Yup
I feel like this game would be better, and I dont know if this game has this, if it were slightly smaller, and with planets with full fledged cities full of people or alien people. Plus RPG element like a story, even if its a story where you are you and you do what you need to do.
That's more what I am expecting the next Mass Effect to be. Might wanna keep an eye out for that if you aren't already.
This game is more for those who read old sci-fi like 'Dune' and thought about how they would really love to explore a working universe like that.
Keep in mind, this game was made by roughly 10 people.
+Blub Nerd It really is impressive and shows how awesome procedurally generated games can be.
So can you feed the animals to get the closer? Looks like they want to run away.
The New Yorker knows how to deinterlace a video before uploading it.
Still hoping for a 2015 release
+Chris Walker I can't see that happening at this point. I mean, we're now into October. I'd bet that they're making the game wait for the VR release.
There is crafting!
+Nathan Fletcher what crafting? we never saw a footage or other evidance that this will be a solid crafting system
+FarafazDSO There is Crafting Upgrades.
all the comments love this game so much just like me. :D
Huh... is it their recording method right here or do the graphics suddenly look a lot worse than previous presentations? :O Everything seems to be made up of these horizontal lines that bloop in and out all the time... Everything's pretty obscured :S
I hope you'll be able to build a death star and destroy planets
that' s the lowest rendering distance i' v ever seen in my entire life xD i hope the final version won' t show me caves and mountains popping in from nowhere... at least on pc
i hate how its coming in june 2016 i will be going into the air force soon after this game comes out. this makes me sad :(
A game where you basically o nothing. Fly, land, see that there is nothing to do, take off, fly, land, see that there is nothing to do... My god...They really need to make something with this game, at least construction or something... Because explore and killing animals?? Wtf???
its good that he doesnt spoil all the info !! )))) K33P /\ Ze Hype Train!
I have a question, will space be black in No Man's Sky?
Same gameplay from The Tonight Show.
+Force0fWi11 yes he uses a demo that is not the finished game
