    Kiwis have a faster boat, better windage, more hydraulic, superior skipper. It’s reflected in the result.

      I agree on the awesomeness of the racing. Spectacular! Yet the Kiwis do have two technical advantages which I submit for your consideration.
      1) The Kiwis have split the duties of flying the boat from steering the boat. That is, the man in front of Burling is seen with a controller which handles the ride height and attitude of the boat. It is a separate function from steering. The boat isn't porpoise'ing to the same degree, it is more stable. The US team has both functions controlled by the man at the helm. The split duties afford finer control of the fly time and thus less drag. This yields a faster boat.
      2) The use of cyclors vs grinders. The cyclors provide smoother power and less windage than grinders. One can argue that the grinders provide sufficient power, and the cyclors provide excess power, yet when the hydraulic energy is drained via maneuvering, the cyclors sustain higher available power. Further, with their head down, nose to tail configuration, the cyclors are more aerodynamically efficient. This yields a faster boat. The cyclors with less windage, yield a faster boat.
      Those two differences are certainly contributing to the drubbing the Kiwis are handing to the US team. Good on the Kiwis!!
      [As someone from the US, I cheer on the home team, yet plainly acknowledge when we are outsmarted and fairly beaten.]

    4:45 team NZ hit something..? Turtle maybe? At the end of the race you can hear Peter Burling asking for divers to check the rudder

      good spotting

    • @onpahanvaan
      @onpahanvaan 5 лет назад +2

      Well spotted. Something breaks the surface just when it comes to frame and when the port rudder goes past it there is an impact and the boat vibrates. Turtle might be a good guess as far as correlating size and shape wise with the "smudge" on the video.

    The captain of the American team SUCKS. For one they are terrible when tacking yet they tack every 100meters. He waits till he reach the turn around area before he decides which way he is going to go. If the teams switches boats they will still loose.

    • @michaelcowley7138
      @michaelcowley7138 5 лет назад +1

      I think Spitty was hoping NZ might tack just as much and in doing so make an error during the go about. Desperate tactic though.
