This is a great tutorial that explains a lot of elements clearly 👍! As a long-time knitter, it can be difficult to understand how to visually recognize various things. Your description of where to work the front post is helpful too. I don't think I've ever seen a tutorial where the teacher worries that they're explaining anything that could pop up, it's really cool of you!
How I Learned I was 2324 years old bye just looking at it and going home and crocheting whatever I was looking at that's a doorley a tablecloth or bedspread I did it all now I just can't get enough of it I just want to crochet crochet crochet but the only thing is I don't know how to do I get that big long face in the middle it takes a while I love it
Thank you for such a clear tutorial! I just scored 14 skeins of slate blue hygge yarn to make a blanket for my Minnesota son and his wife. They get COLD, so combining this stitch with this yarn will be cozy and lovely!
Hi Jerica this is my all time favorite blanket to crochet I'm currently crocheting my 3rd alpine blanket I've made one for each of my daughters now I'm crocheting one for myself but I'm making it as a weighted blanket I'm using bulky 6 yarn with a 9mm hook .. I've done some reseach and apparently weighted blankets help with chronic pain I have fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis severe depression and anxiety so anything that helps us good sending you hugs from Canada 😘🤗💖🇨🇦
🇵🇹Tina Ferraz 🇨🇦 that’s wonderful you’ve made several! I’m glad you like it so much ☺️💕💕 I too have heard that weighted blankets can help with these issues so I pray you find success when you finish the alpine you’re making for yourself!
I'm trying to use a bulky yarn right now. Did the 9 mm work really well for close together stitches? Also do you work tight stitches or loose, cause I know I crochet tighter and I don't want to worry about curling
Thank you so much for your suggestions. Had started a throw for my cousin which turned into a tube. Now I’m using the front post treble and it’s turning out great. Really appreciate your recommendations 😊
Thank you! Yes, mine was curling and had a ridge through the middle. Tried yours and worked perfectly! Using Bella Coco instructions and watching her video….mine didn’t look anything like hers.🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
Thank you so much! Love the texture and definition. What a lovely find. Gratitude for your generous share and inspiration. I've been crocheting a little more than 30 years.
I feel you are a really good teacher!!! I'm anxious to try this Alpine stitch for an afghan. I 'm very glad there are no BPDC because they are hard on my fingers. I've been looking for a pattern similar to the basket weave stitch but without the BPDC. This is perfect!!!
Beautiful stitch so glad you made this adjustment for the curling issues. I tryed it as a border and it wasn't laying quite right. I will try again but if you or anyone has any suggestions for using this as the border for a blanket any advice would be appreciated
Thank you so much for the tutorial it’s very easy to understand. I do have one question though I want to use two different colors when would you do the color change of yarn?
Could I use a heavier yarn, or two strands at once and a larger hook so it is a heavier blanket when complete (and grows faster!), or does the definition depend on the weight of the yarn and size of the hook?
where would i place my stitch marker at end rows till i get going good? i’m doing a practice swatch before i start on the full size blanket?thank you for the great pattern i have purchased the full size
You would want to place your stitch marker into the top CH 2 you do at the end of each row. This will help you make sure you're going into the last stitch. Hopefully that makes sense!
Hi Yarnhookneedles - I've just purchased your pattern and you state to change the colour every 7 and 10 rows but this will produce thin stripes of colour as compared to the picture which is quite chunky stripes. Am I making a silly error here? Love the video and the pattern though they are super easy to follow! :)
FYI, if you start with a US dc foundation stitch instead of chaining and working US dc back into the chain, multiple count is any even count, plus one stitch. Happy Crocheting!
This reminds me of the waffle stitch but the front posts don't line up with this pattern..... Such a simple pattern. I've just subscribed to your channel.
Thanks for this. The blanket shown on your blog involves a color change. Would you be changing color at the end of the SC row? Also, are you splitting the work evenly in 3 and chancing color on the 29/30 row? EDIT: And right after posting this.. I read my answer on the blog :)
So when I do this you can see open this like do you know how you have years laying on the table at 1339 on mine I can see the table through my work on yours you can’t I don’t know what I’m doing wrong?
You can do any stitch with any yarn or hook. You just have to adjust your pattern. I believe that it would be a size smaller with 8 ply. You would need a larger hook to balance it out. I’m pretty sure that’s how you’d do it. If someone more experienced with changing hook sizes and yarn weight could comment here it’d be appreciated. I’ve been crocheting 45+ years but have only been found sweaters and things that need adjustments, etc. Thank you.
Hi! I didn’t create a border for this particular design. But you can easily add a single crochet border around the edge. As far as the sizing, the throw and twin size are exactly the same. The reason for this is because the throw size is very subjective and I figured a twin size would be large enough to cover and fit the needs of most people.
so sorry you're having trouble. here's the link to the pattern on Etsy! www.etsy.com/listing/571744989/pattern-for-the-alpine-blanket-crochet?click_key=87dd5dbdb18d73e1ee0a574ab540d6d6b5570b69%3A571744989&click_sum=3403e464&ref=shop_home_feat_3&bes=1
I liked how you explained it , very clear.
You are doing a great job explaining everything! The idea for the triple crochet was fantastic thank you very much!
Thank you for this easy to understand tutorial.

U
Wow thank you. Brilliant stitch
Thank you for sharing, that’s a beautiful stitch.
I purchased the pattern on Etsy. Still waiting for the pattern and I am so disappointed as I needed it urgently.

Love how this looks! The texture is awesome!
Lynne Hirko it’s one of my favorites!
Thank you so much for the tutorial it’s very easy to understand. I do have one question though I want to use two different colors when would you do the color change of yarn?
g g I’m wondering also...
During the row of single crochet.
Could I use a heavier yarn, or two strands at once and a larger hook so it is a heavier blanket when complete (and grows faster!), or does the definition depend on the weight of the yarn and size of the hook?

Hi, can I use this stitch using super chunky yarn

thank you for the vidio.
I just started a blanket but is curling, is the curling staying to the end of the blanket?
You’ll just need to block the blanket once you’re done and you should have any more issues! ☺️
So when I do this you can see open this like do you know how you have years laying on the table at 1339 on mine I can see the table through my work on yours you can’t I don’t know what I’m doing wrong?
Does this stitch take a lot of wool? Anyways you are an amazing crocheter!!!!
Can this be made with Bernat Blanket Yarn? And does the back of this blanket end up looking weird with this stitch?
Very good tutorial thank you, could this be done in 8 ply ?.
You can do any stitch with any yarn or hook. You just have to adjust your pattern. I believe that it would be a size smaller with 8 ply. You would need a larger hook to balance it out. Thank you for this tutorial! I've just finished my swatch along with you in the tutorial, and cant wait to create my full size blanket! Xoxo
Thank you & greetings from Australia, a great tutorial, love this stitch can't wait to try it :)
My trees keep ending up slanted! Do you have any advice? It always starts on row 4 (the second row where you're doing the repeat) 😭😭
If I use a 6.oo hook will it come out ok..
Many thanks,very clear 🙏🏽🇬🇧
How much wool I need for a baby blanket thanks ,I love your tutorial.
If you follow the link in the description box it will take you to the blog posts that has all of those details! ☺️

It's a nice stitch, but unfortunately still curls up considerably and has edges that skew. Don't think I can finish this blanket :(
Yes
It would be really nice if you would to share what the reverse side pattern looks like with added colors yarns. 😏
What brand of yarn do you like from WalMart?
Yep
Hi. Can u send me the link for a twin blanket ty
The twin size is available for purchase from ravelry.com/yarnhookneedles/ thanks!
Looks like you're more of a knitter.
Lynda Thomas I do love to knit but crochet is the one I go to first. ☺️ Hope you’re having a wonderful day!
