For anyone who might be using these on Qanba Gravity KS Series buttons, the microswitches are square instead of rectangular. So the LED boards don't fit around them, I just spotted 2 corners of each one with hot glue to secure them down. Not even a lot, just a quick squeeze. I also just used a cheapy hot glue gun so the glue wasn't crazy hot when applied.
For any one wondering how to properly secure the LED to the button. You can use those tiny black rubber bands to wrap it around the button micro switch to keep the led nice and secure. You find them at home improvements stores or a beauty store. Very small black rubber bands. I got some from a hair stair and they work like a charm
A small dab of low temp hot glue does the trick, too.
I couldn't figure out why it wouldnt work with my wireless setup...until I plugged it in lol. Turns out the LEDs wont work without the external power source. This video is like one of the only videos on doing this that is actually decent so thank you, this was my first arcade stick project and its finally done, I went from not even knowing what a spring was to being able to fully customize any stick for the most part. This has been a long painful process lol. Thank you for everything on this channel cuz other wise I'm basically just sifting through forums to figure this shit out.
Which program did you use?
For those trying to find an answer, this doesn't work (obviously) for mayflash series fight sticks. You have to go through extra hoops. You need to figure out a way to connect the 2 8-pin connector wires (buttons) and the 1 2-pin connector wires (start button) to a screw terminal based wire and then figure out which of those wires go to which screw terminal on the breakout board. Yes youd still need a breakout board for a mayflash series stick. So you'd have to figure out how to convert the button wires from the mayflash board (1 2-pin start button wire and 2 8-pin button wires) to the breakout board. This will give you the ability to have the buttons change colors based on being standby or being pressed.
If you don't want that, and only want them to illuminate, you will need to solder / splice wires. And you can splice 5V and GND from the main USB wire in the mayflash to the kaimana mini led and then run your LEDS. This will provide power to the kaimana mini once you plug in the main USB to power the mayflash fight stick, You can then program the kainana mini led board with a micro USB cable to select which leds will be which colors or animation. To my understandings, the kainana mini should store whatever setup you program to have it so whenever the arcade stick is plugged in, it'll stay with the programmed attire. Again, this won't give you fancy animations though like having idle colors or having the leds change when button is being pressed.
I hope this helps.
Best Tutorial Hands Down!
+DJ IYCE Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed.
any update on software to help with programming? I can't find ANYTHING online about how to program or even setup these lights. please help!

Congrats on the videos!
I'm thinking of buying a Kaimana RGB Kit ...
I have the following questions:
- Can the RGB LED kit be installed on the buttons of any manufacturer?
- Can the RGB LED joystick (Sanwa, for example) be installed on the Kaimana Kameleon PCB in this kit or is your installation independent?
- How many RGB LED buttons are supported by Kaimana Kameleon PCB?
Thanks for listening.
Big hug!
WOW! You Got A Ryu Amiibo!
When putting this on the brook universal board I noticed it has pins on it when you add it to the pcb. Is this so you can put on a 20 pin connector and hook up buttons still using the pin accesable by the pcb?
what do you do if you dont have a brook fighting board and you are using fightstick that already has its own large PCB in it? particularly the 8bitdo arcade stick?
Great video
+Lukas Peruzovic Thank you!
I can't get the leds programmed to light up with the correct buttons, even though I numbered the leds from first to last (in my stick they go from p1 to p4, then k4 to k1). Plz help :/
Hello Fundando, I know it might be a little bit annoying, but since Im trying to pull togheter a custom fightstick for the first time, could you list EVERY item used on the video ? I'll just stick to the guide with the same materials, thanks man ! Great job, hope you upload more like this anytime soon !
So, you don't need LED type buttons? Just any translucent button? Even if the button is solid white, as long as the casing is translucent?
Can more lights be added to the chain? Or just 8?
does this work on the default qanba q4 board or do i need a paradise board?
It doesn't seem like that URL works. Is there an updated one?
This board where you put the arcade commands works in raspberry pi 3? And could you put the link from all the built-in video media in the description?
Thanks for the fast response. I am doing a brooks ufb + Mc Cthulhu dual mod with one Rj45 port with the kaimana led. Any suggestions?
its still out of stock, been waiting for months!
Paradise is sold out of PCB connectors, is there an alternative?
been looking for parts for over 3 months with no luck
Will this work if I'm using gamer finger buttons that have solid white rims but the inside of the button is transparent
Great video I'm definitely going to refer to it when I get around to my 4 player cabinet build, I just have one question I hope you'll be able to finally answer for me. My build is going to use an Ultimarc I-Pac4 for a controller board instead of a PS360+, can I still get the Kaimana Mini to work with with it. I have a fairly good picture in my head of how it would all wire together I've just never had any confirmation that it's actually doable.
Anyways hope to hear one way or the other.
Yes. Just pick up one of the kaimana breakouts. ruclips.net/video/4JgdPfJu03E/видео.html
I have a madcatz te2 with an ez mod with the brook universal fighting board. Would i need the paradise kaimana mini breakout?
Hi Fundando! I hope you'll have time to read my comment and probably help me out.
Any recommendations on how am I going to install this Kaimana Mini LED RGB on my Qanba Obsidian fightstick?
Do I really have to replace my stock PDB with brook PCB in able to use Kaimana LED?
Appreciate your help!
Is there a way to use this on a 8bitdo arcade stick?
What would you do if you have a 20 pin adapter because I see you don't have one
I need help to conect my kaimana mini to my pele 30mm, i Just cant get the leds right, plz help!
Great video! Im really looking forward to buy this. Just a quick question, will this work with Brook PS4 audio as well? I dont want to burn up PCB.
if it has a 20 pin connector on it it will.
How can i use this board on a leverless controller with 15 buttons total? I'm using the brook wireless fight board.
is there any videos out there of some 1 doing this with a crown 202 switch?
I have a Qanba, would I need to replace the standard PCB for another one so that this could work or I can use my qanba's pcb?
Would this still work if i also had a retroboard installed?
Anyone know if this can work on the stock hitbox™️?? Got some clear buttons and was looking to slap some led buttons.
I got a hori rap 4 will i need a brooks board for this? My fight stick is stock to the bone and which kind of buttons are recommended?
Do you know if you're able to use this with an optical joystick such as the GamerFinger one?
I have a MayFlash f500.. what all will I need other than the kit? Sorry I’m extremely new lol
the pcb just clips in to the pcb in the fight stick ?
Will the direction buttons light up if I install this on a hitbox?
I have a stock xbox one TE2 , will the kaimana mini LED driver PCB work with with the stock TE2 board?
The code site only has an 11 button layout. What if I have more than that? I have 14 buttons on my case
"Basically these just fit on the back here, and once you put your quick disconnects on, they are pretty stable".
FALSE.
How can I secure the LED board to the buttons, non-permanently?
If anyone comes across this, I used some low temp hot glue and did a dab on either side of the PCBs. It keeps them in place but comes off easily if needed.
Overall this comes across as a half baked product with very little support, especially on the software side.
Is this just for LED or does it map buttons too? Is it much like the I-PAC?
What is the main function of the kaimana breakout does it function as a standalone pcb? I figure you would need other terminals installed
I have a madcatz TE round 1 for sf IV. Does this fightstick have a 20 pin breakout? Or would I need additional parts?
Can I use this in an original Dreamcast Agetec?
are there any vids on special effect codes for arduiono
would these fit on a gamerfinger button??
The website is down. I can't program my LEDs.
Will this work with the fight stick pro sfxt if so where do I install it at
So it doesn’t need an external power adapter? It’s powered by USB from the console, for example a ps4.
I'm not able to get the COM leonardo under Port "COM and how i can open Kaimana_custom. h
Can u make a new on this bec that website dont work
Will this work with a Panthera Evo?
Can you mount more than 8 if I bought 2 kits?
Hey guys the link for the code is down
the link for the code
dosent work
can the software work with the lvt3?
So you mean to tell me you can actually PROGRAM what colors you want the leds to be?!?! If so would that mean I just need to get clear colored buttons?
arduino leonardo port is still grayed out.
stuck here help!
I'm having issues. I'm unable to select the port type. Any suggestions
Did you figure out a fix? I'm having the same issue
Do u sell them as well?
what about for 24 mm
Do you know what side is ground for a TE2+ board/harness?
+ProClub I am not sure, but I am sure if you ask on the shoryuken forums someone will know.
When I press on the Kaimana J LEDs, they don't seem to stay in place very well. They seem very lose. Are they held in place by each other through the chaining of the wiring? I'm using this on a hitbox layout, with 1 Sanwa 30mm, and 11 24mm Sanwa buttons.
Sean Livingston These LEDs were designed with 30mm buttons in mind. But with a little creativity, there shouldn't be any problems.
Brightstick.freecade.org no longer works. Any suggestions?
Im lost for words, I can't find anywhere for me to generate codes like brightstick website did. any luck finding a replacement site?
@@GRiNDWiZARD187 Hey were you ever able to find something like this? it really sucks having to sift through example codes that just for some reason dont work lol
@@legacy9453 ya man , I talked with Paradise Arcade Shop and the said they been working on a new website with a code generator plus some pre-made RGB animated codes too. It will be ready by summer time
I got the hori vlx with the brook ufb ezmod, and was wondering if there is any way to get the mini w/kaimana breakout to get power from the ufb itsetlf. The only way I can activate the LED's is to have the mini connected to my pc via the microusb, and I don't want to have to mess up my vlx and have to use two different usb cables. Could I somehow connect the micro usb on the mini to the neutrix on the ufb? Or would that not do anything
solved my own issue, I forgot to link the vcc up
though I have another problem now in that my k1 button only lights up one led properly, the other one flashes for a second before going out
I don't think it's a problem with the led since it lights up properly, I think I may have messed up the programming in arduiono somehow
Port does not show up.
Do I need just regular brooks universal fighting board OR brooks universal fighting board with headers? What is the difference. I am about to purchase the led kit and the UFB. But I need to know which ufb. Headers or no headers?
kmart014 with headers
I keep getting the "prog_unit8_t" error and I keep getting a compiling error when I use Arduino 1.6.5 ???? Am I doing something wrong
same need help.
do you have to tape the LED's under the button? it feels like they might pop off. im using the standard Sanwa buttons 30mm
You or use those little black tuner bands to wrap around the micro switch to secure the led
will this work for Razer Panthera Fightstick. and when are these parts be in stock? anybody has an alternative on how to add LED to Razer panthera?
Yeah, you can do it with a panthera. Idk what kind of board they use but you might need the kaimana 20 pin breakout as well.
Sun Wu thank you I being looking into it. But if I get the mini pcb board I also need the breakout board as well. I wish they have the one that look like a Diamond which can be use in any controller
How can I make this compatible with a Razer Panthera?
Same question here
You didn't show directly how the computer is hooked up to the board. Could you please explain?
Dustin Thurmond There is a micro usb port on the Kaimana mini.
OMG i ordered the wrong one :(. I ordered the actual Kaimana Kameleon. Can i still do this?
yes although there is a different step in programming, but overall the same.
Is there a website with user submitted programmed Light patterns that I can just download?
Were you ever able to find a website like this? I still cant find working example code anywhere for a full 8 button layout
@@legacy9453 no. I gave up on led buttons. Theyre fragile
Can I connect a 20 pin connector to the Paradise Kaimana Mini LED Driver PCB that's attached to the Universal Brookstone?
Yes.
Fundando Great! Thank you so much now I just need to find screws and a case!
Check out facebook.com/allfightsticks/ he sells cases with built in mounting for the Universal Fighting Board
how does one program one of these in 2021? The brightstick.freecade.org site is down, and I can't find any documentation anywhere on the internet.
I tried finding some info on this a couple weeks ago and I could not anything. Years ago when I made this the folks at paradise arcade support were super helpful with figuring this stuff out. I would hit them up and they might be able to send some code.
@@Fundando Thanks. I went on their website and submitted my question. Still waiting on them to get back to me.
@@mikehandorf4680 any updates?
How would I work with a Chimp dual modded system?
You would have to make all connections to the kaimana breakout board first www.paradisearcadeshop.com/home/1667-kaimana-mini-breakout.html . Check out the tutorial on this on my page as well
I have the universal fight board without the 20-pin-headers. How can I use the kaimana with my brook universal fight board? Do I need to purchase a 20-pin-header to solder? If so, where can I purchase one? Just want to make sure I have everything I need.
Sean Livingston you can get the headers at electronic components stores like frys or kiesub. you could also use the Kai mana mini breakout.
Thanks man. There is actually a frys near me, so I will hit them up later today. Also, the mini kaimana LED. If you buy it from paradise, does it come with the kaimana leds? Everything he has laid out in the video on the Orion mat, or do I need to order those separately?
Yeah PAS sells this is a package with all the cables and led's
I used the Hitbox code generator and I keep getting errors in the code when I try to verify it. What is the problem?
Check out the kaimana thread on shoryuken.com
Can you use this with any other boards
any common ground board using the kaimana breakout. See my video on this.
do i need a brook universal board?
Also works with PS360 and Brook UFB w. Breakout. You can also add to any common ground PCB using thiswww.paradisearcadeshop.com/home/1667-kaimana-mini-breakout.html . See my channel for a tutorial on the breakout as well.
Anyone happen to know if the default MadCatz board will work with this mod?
+Chair Kun There are tons of different MadCatz models out there. Some of them do contain the 20 Pin Connector Necessary. I do not know which ones. If your's does not you can use the Kaimana Mini Breakout to make it compatible. www.paradisearcadeshop.com/kaimana-led-series/1669-kaimana-mini-breakout.html
I hope to have a video on that piece coming in the future.
+Fundando (Fundando) alright, thanks man! I have a TE2+ PS4 stick if that helps.
is that work with hitbox ( 12 button )?
As long as the PCB is common ground it can work with the help of the kaimana adaptor.
i guess this tutorial is useless without the Paradise Kaimana Mini LED Driver PCB? since its sold out and cant find it anywhere
You could use a kaimana chameleon as well
they are restocking this weekend but thanks 4 replying
Can you do this with the stock TE2+ PCB board?
Probably not unless there's an EZ mod kit available for your particular fightstick model.
The EZ mod kit (if available) lets you reuse as much of your hardware as possible but may involve replacing or permanently modding your existing hardware depending on what you're trying to do. The mods I've seen that recycle the existing PCB (in some way) involve cutting the ribbon cables and either soldering to specific spots on another PCB or screwing into terminals on a second board.
You can't get away from using another PCB where LED's (for 30mm pushbuttons) are concerned. You need to get another control board/PCB that times the LED function and even that depends on the board. The Brooks boards generally only support LED function for things like Turbo buttons and Player position (1, 2, 3, 4) and that's on the Turbo Panel of Mad Catz fightsticks, not the 30mm pushbuttons themselves. The stock fightsticks generally don't support fancy LED function out of the box on the 30mm pushbuttons unless they were specifically built with that support in mind like the first edition, limited run of the Mad Catz TE2's were.
LED mods are probably the most expensive thing you could get into aside from buying steel or aluminum body cases ($95 and up). It could be done for maybe $80 with knock-off parts and a half-decent PCB board, realistically probably $120 or more if you have to buy new buttons with LED's on top of the LED control board itself. This depends on whether you want spend more to have something durable that will last for years or taking a chance on clone parts that may fail within 3 months.
There's not many electrical engineers or guys with that much electrical experience on the fightstick mod boards who could just tell you how to do mods without seeing pictures of your PCB. Most people without experience end up destroying their PCBs with soldering irons because they melt things out of ignorance. Some of these PCB's are kind of easy to wreck because they weren't very well-engineered or or were built with cheap parts to begin with!
There's about maybe a half-dozen guys that do these things as a hobby/business and they drift in and out of the discussion boards as their interests wane. Vicko, Gummo, and JasensCustoms spring to mind. There are more than these guys for sure but they're the names that pop up again and again.
A couple of these guys have businesses that sell the parts or actually do mods (which aren't cheap!).
Some of these guys have videos online but I've found the older your gear is, the less helpful the mod instruction videos are unless someone actually makes a replacement PCB for your older Mad Catz Fighting Stick and your mileage will vary depending on what that replacement PCB supports. The later models like the TE2's tend to be supported now but the support is dwindling as we get further away from the last year Mad Catz made joysticks (2017) before they reorganized and started putting out generic hardware that has no personality again.
still no suggestions since brightstick is down?
So did you find any codes?
@@TheRomi18 had to email paradise
Does this work with mayflash f300
Yes I just put this into my Mayflash F500 I can't figure out why I dont' have access to the right port though. I think you just have to plug the stick in I don't think you plug directly into the mini

It works!!! You have to know how to hook it all up tho. I have the instructions! I'm currently in the midst of finishing the led mod on my Mayflash f300 stick. It looks amazing! If you want pics let me know

+Singleton Maasai great
My brook universal board doesn't have the pins Idk how to connect my boards
PLS help
+DJ IYCE Hello, There are a couple of solutions for this. The best way to go about it is to buy www.frys.com/product/1920374 and solder the 20 pin header onto the Brook UFB. Another solution is to buy www.paradisearcadeshop.com/home/1667-kaimana-mini-breakout.html , pass through it and mount your Kaimana Mini on there.
+Fundando (Fundando) Thankyou so much I'm gonna go with the header, can you tell me if this is the same thing because I have Prime and I need this thing asap I'm going to combo breaker in 1 week and want this done before then. www.amazon.com/uxcell%C2%AE-2-0mm-Pitch-Double-Headers/dp/B00899WMU0/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1463679317&sr=1-4&keywords=20+pin+header
+DJ IYCE also if radio shack has it then I can do it today. do you think they would have it?
+DJ IYCE I do not think radio shack carries them. You can give them a call, but most likely they wont even know what you are talking about. Places like MicroCenter, Fry's and Kiesub carry them. The ones you linked me on Amazon are the wrong size. You neeed 2.54mm pitch like these www.amazon.com/50pcs-DC3-20P-2-54MM-Connector-Ribbon/dp/B00R1LTKFM/ref=sr_1_11?s=electronics&rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1463680046 . I did not see any less quantities for this connector that qualified for Prime.
+Fundando (Fundando) Thanks so much I ordered the Amazon one, will be here in 2 days. :)
ryu lol
How would you go about adding this to a TE2+ ?
sorry what about for 24 mm butttons
thiss will work for those too.
is it likely that these will be purchasable by xmas for a gift? or should i look for an alternative
Mavonte Johnson no clue. I don’t work at the shop.
these LEDs break so fucking easily lol pulling the connectors out breaks them half the time. buy extra and extra cables

Nvm... Just a USB cable issue.
how did u fix this?
I was using a usb cable that only provided power, it had no data.
