  • Watch the state's full closing arguments in the trial for former Fort Worth officer Aaron Dean, who is accused of murdering Atatiana Jefferson. Prosecutors argued self-defense only applies if someone reasonably believes the deadly force is immediately necessary to protect against the other person's unlawful deadly force. "What has been unlawful about what Atatiana did?"

They never said the obvious. When the lights are on inside a house and it’s dark outside. The person in the dark can see in but the one inside with the light on can’t see out. So even if she had pointed a gun, she couldn’t see out. She has a right to protect her home

Zion like most kids get close to windows to look out. Atatiana didn’t have the same opportunity. She was looking blindly out against the darkness. After the police demands it was a split second before Dean fired. There’s no self defense when you’re on someone else’s property unbeknownst to the person inside of their home.

I work as a 911 dispatcher. We get open property calls all day; mostly in the morning when people are waking up, opening windows, doors and garage doors. When police arrive, the residents are usually still inside of the property. They check for forced signs of entry, knock on the door, announce themselves and the residents come to the door to apologize and let the officers know they are fine and it was accidental. They don’t go snooping around the property, looking into windows without announcing themselves either. And guess what? Everyone lives. The directive for an open property is not hard to follow.

This was not malicious intent but extremely reckless , I get that when your in moment you have milliseconds to react and identify a threat and that's something most will never understand unless it happens to you but this was bs they did he even announce police loud enough for anyone in side to hear let them know just cuz someone is holding a gun doesn't make it ok and justified shoot immediately especially when it is down at your side his paranoia caused a innocent woman defending themselves to lose there life with no justification, I understand no one wants to die a better to be cautious keep your guard up but some cops have developed through training this extreme paranoia that every one wants to kill you as soon as you put the badge uniform and gun on and your on the clock we don't expect them wait until someone else shoot before defending themselves but we are not in a warzone where everyone you don't know might try to kill you you have to give people the option to surrender put the gun down not as soon as you think you saw a possible gun or weapon , you can't let fear and paranoia cloud your judgement or things like this happen it takes certain type of people to be a cop and and if you're not one of them then please go find another job not all cops should be held responsible for his behavior that isn't fair unless they are lying to cover someone else bad behavior and calling them out when they step out of line then yes they guilty too seems like some cop are out there trying to find a excuse to play with toys in a real life situation and become to quick to respond with unnecessary force

Except that the cops control the situation. They control how they approach the situation and at what speed.
You act as if he didn't put himself in danger by sneaking through the back yard looking for this phantom burglar while alerting Atatiania that the cop could have been a burglar walking through the backyard.
All he had to do was announce himself since it was a welfare check not a call about a burglary in progress.

      Let's get old school
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost
children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

At first I thought he was only guilty of negligence however he was called to do a welfare check and instead jumped to the conclusion that the occupants were up to no good and snuck around the back of the house to try and catch them at something. without announcing himself.
While it is true it was given to him as an open door to structure call; his job was to investigate and then if a burglary was in process go back to his car and wait for backup while verifying that no one is leaving the building. Once enough backup is there; surround the building and then announce themselves. He totally ignored this and went his own way; well beyond negligence. It should have been a murder conviction.

The horse had to be shot twice cause the cop from swat couldn't do it the first shot and suffered even more from the hands of the cops.

There are people in EVERY industry and job who are good and hardworking, as there are bad, lazy, evil, smart, dumb…. Every kind in every role. The difference, NOT all carry guns and a license to kill. That’s where you get into trouble… when you can marry evil to a handgun. Or poor decision making skills to a handgun.
Conversely, I recently called on police for help in Coppell when a man dropped a heavy large item off his truck that almost caused me to wreck.
The responding officer was EXEMPLARY. He treated me like you’d hope your mom, sister or daughter treated.

There is no peace without Justice and no Justice without Peace and if both of those two core values were honored by all to it's highest capacity, well there would be no criminal offenders. To obtain a 100% of both of them is achievable, obtainable and should of been what we all on earth lived by and swore by. So why isn't it that way today because there is an answer and truth to that and the solution to fix that.

Blah blah blah--the cop will do no time and will be on the Fort Worth or other police force in a year or so where his fellow officers will regard him as a hero who killed with impunity and buy him drinks in the local cop bar to tell them the story of his brave takedown of an innocent woman. When he finishes his tale of killing a woman in her own home in front of her nine year old nephew and getting away with it, there will be high fives all round because their hero is living proof that sloppy "police work" goes unpunished even when life is lost and no one need worry if they decide to get a little trigger happy.

Why do people call and have the police sent around.
A welfare check. What a fkn joke. Dial M for murder.
11 years and 9 months for a life.... why not the full 20 years. Why these killers always being given leniency. The young lady might have lived to 68, or 78, heck, that's 40 to 50 years that killer should serve.
It's taken 3 years to get to sentencing, that's a joke too.
So sorry for the family. Who was the idiot sent for the cops. Have they left the area. Surely they can't still live there, they have blood on their hands.
