"Looks like we have a weapon here"

The fact that he walked around & never attempted to give aid or comfort her shows me he couldn't care less. Her life held no value to him, whatsoever.

exactly .... to me it was crazy how he never entertained the thought that the occupants of the house were home since their cars were present any logical personal should have.... all he cared about wasn't the safety of the occupants it was just finding an non existent perpetrator... that tunnel vision is what caused his poor judgement and the eventual unnecessary death of Atatiana and the fact that he was more focused on her gun that he picked up (again poor judgement) instead of offering CPR or compression to try to slow down the bleeding until help arrived is telling to me.. now I know what the coroner said that nothing would have helped her because the bullet hit her heart, lungs and kidney but he wouldn't have known that at the scene and was taught to give aid in training.

    • @chrisgullett4332

The person that fires a gun should never, I repeat never aid the person they shot. The person that fired the gun is the worst person to render aid. That is a well known fact, and is actually trained at police academies. Cops have literally had panic attacks after firing their gun, so to say the cop should've rendered aid, is highly absurd.

Wholeheartedly agree. They are hiring people who have not been vetted psychologically, have no common sense and a low IQ.
Officers should be required to have individual malpractice insurance just as healthcare and other occupations are required to have. The insurance companies will cover a specified number of claims and dollar amount of payout. If the company drops you, the cops loses their position. This alleviates the community from responsibility of judgment claims when law enforcement fails to act responsibly. Each officer must be held accountable for all their behaviors and attitudes on the job, not the ok occupants of the cities in which they live. It also identifies the chronic and habitually miss performing officers who have no business in the profession eventually saving a great many lives.

I am not pro- cop or anti-cop so I have no bias here. Earlier this year, I heard about the Kim Potter case where she accidentally shot and killed a perpetrator evading during a traffic stop in when she grabbed her gun instead of her taser as she intended in 04-2021 in Minnesota. You could immediately see and feel how distraught she was in the video which was a horrible accident and she was found guilty of manslaughter but this is a totally different case. Dean is a totally different kind of officer because he didn't seem to even consider the home owner at all. I do believe that when he arrived at the the he already had a preconceived notion. How he came to the conclusion the residents weren't home even though their cars were in the drive way and no other vehicles were present. Do most burglars walk to a house they intend to rob usually, I don't think so not if they want to steal any sizable electronics like TVs, computers or gaming systems. The way Dean's mind worked was incomprehensible. There was no noises, arguing or fighting, sounds of struggle or anything that would raise concern was coming from the house. He has no reason at all to believe a crime was in progress just because in his opinion the house was ransacked a huge exaggeration. I do agree that he arrived at the house with a preconceived notion and nothing he saw or heard was going to change his mind. He should have never been hired as a LEO. He showed no concern for the victim after he shot and fatally injured her not evening giving aid by CPR and compression that he was trained to do. He showed no concern for his partner by not informing her of a gun if he did genuinely see it. think I can honestly say listening to his testimony and the facts of the case that if he hasn't caused Miss Jefferson's death that night, he would have most certainly caused someone else's if not a citizen another officer working with him.

Despite all of the multiple mistakes these officers made from the moment they arrived, particularly the defendant, this case will come down to one thing: Did Atatiana point the gun at the defendant and did he fear for his life. Forget that the officers were trespassing in her backyard, forget that she had a right to have a gun and a right to protect herself, forget that he didn't announce himself as a police officer or that he shot her 1.5 seconds after he gave a command. In my opinion, and I hope I'm wrong, but the verdict will either be not guilty or a hung jury.

No matter what no cop should be allowed to enter or back yard without a warrant, much less shoot us in our own home because there may or may not be a burglary. Even if there was a burglary the cop does not get to shoot the resident. This cop broke all the rules, he was rogue,we cannot allow this to pass with out major consequences. He killed her in her own home. He created noises and lights without identifying himself so she had every right to shoot him dead. He had no right to shoot her even for his own safety.
