This prosecutor understood the assignment!! I’m here for it. The call was made to an non emergency line from a concerned neighbor but somehow that registered in his mind as a possible robbery which would have been an emergency and made to the emergency line. Who is expecting a police officer just to be in their backyard at 2am when they didn’t call them? She had every right to have a gun inside her home to defend her and her nephew’s life. His assessment of the situation was sloppy and not objective which should be the defining difference between everyday citizens and members of law enforcement. They have training for a reason.

They also ignored the demonization tactics used by the defense attorney, insinuating that it was a particularly bad neighborhood and saying in his closing arguments that this case “wasn’t worth” a murder verdict. Shockingly disrespectful and low key classist, if not racist.
Glad the prosecutors’ strategy was somewhat effective, but I think that if they had aptly and appropriately implicated the civil injustice that even the jurors could suffer under police state tyranny, they would have gotten the murder verdict. But the prosecution totally destroyed him by by showing time after time how he actually disregarded his training. He didn't take notice of the street, the adults across the street, he didn't properly search the room, he rushed and did a crap job on searching, he exposed himself by parking far away from the house and walking up to the house diagonally instead of straight up to the door. He didn't identify himself and he didn't render aid. Also went to the wrong house and could have killed them. All he had to do is knock and announce.

The worst part for me was the length of time it took the officers to administer first aid to Atatiana. My guess is he took a few short cuts in procedure. By taking the stand he made the prosecution's job much easier. Sometimes it is necessary for a defendant to take the stand, such as the Rittenhouse case but not in this trial. Hopefully police departments will learn from this tragedy and act accordingly.

Never considered announcing "THIS IS THE POLICE" all he said was put your hands up before firing through the window ending the life of a 28 year old woman who was a Pre-medical graduate with a bright future. I don't think that anyone on that jury after hearing that is going to find him innocent. Man everything that this man did was bad police work from start to finish for a welfare check or a burglary and then he didn't even try to save Atatiana's life by giving her CPR after the female officer took Zion outside. He just joined the force in 2018 so it is a good thing that he resigned because god knows how many other citizens or officers he could have put in danger.

According to the call to the police the neighbor noticed the doors open which wasn't a normal scenario for that residence. At that point in time it was up to the officers to determine whether they were open for a reason or if there was something criminal going on. This idiot did neither one. Anyone who owns a firearm for protection especially in the home.. Will absolutely retrieve the firearm at the suspicion of danger at the home. The cop wanted a shooting and thought he would be justified in shooting ANYONE as long as he can say "I feared for my life". Had Atatianna shot and killed him it would have been 1000% justified and a better outcome. There's no way this man should have ever been a cop! No impulse or self control, mean and nasty with a superiority complex... All ingredients for the disaster he is. This shooting was 100% avoidable with just common sense and decency! Cops should know better than to walk on to someones private property unannounced looking into windows like some sort of freak... But he took the bait of an ignorant self righteous "I'm the law and can do whatever I want" reckless killer. He probably has done some "Peeping Tom" special ops work while employed as an officer. 😒🤷
He should be held fully responsible.. As far as any of us know he could have had a daily desire to shoot and kill somebody and a Black would be exceptional. Since we don't know we go off of what we do know! We know he was totally reckless and impartial to human life. He didn't even render aid. He's an animal and should be caged like one.
