Her "caring and compassionate" son murdered an innocent woman in her own home and permanently traumatized an innocent child. Your "perfect" son can rot in hell, he needs to be under the jail and any normal family would feel shame and be ashamed. Not these types, zero empathy shown, it's not just police training, it's a bloodline thing too.

The fact that the judge let the defense bring up the protest that happened outside after the verdict is completely bias. That’s 100% irrelevant for the jury.

Home schooling is foolish. It doesn't allow socialization and development of friendships with a child's peers. It didn't provide him with any acceptance with people other than his family. My daughter is homeschooled. I am Mexican and I teach her to love and respect everyone. I teach her that no one is better than another. I teach her black history especially because it’s been pulled out of public school. I teach her to love and respect our LGBT friends. We talk about why people may choose this life but we still respect them.
People can be in homeschooling and be perfectly normal. They have to get socialization outside the school setting, that's all.

I saw a lawyer today on here say that him not previously being a felon, and if they sentence him to 10 yrs or less, he does qualify for probation. Its bs but its facts in Texas I guess.

I’m not a female but as a guy if my son killed a women and with my best judgment of the facts and situation will make a logical conclusion I wouldn’t support them fully if i feel they are truly justified but if not i will support them in silences i won’t openly take their side probably reject it and let the courts do as they will
I've never been arrested or broken any laws as far as I know. However I could have been a serial killer with all the evidence to prove it and my mom would have told the jury that I was a good boy. You just can't replace your mom. They are usually a son's number one fan and supporter. You can't be mad at a mom because she loves her 'little boy.' Love clouds the judgement. You know that. You just have to consider the source.
Not mad at the mom at all, just think it was ridiculous to allow her to take the witness stand to stick up for her 'kid.'
Her 'kid' is an adult now, and is responsible for his actions. Mommy has no place here except in the audience.

The jury should be ashamed for filing this as manslaughter. If we all watched and heard the same thing how he got manslaughter is really a mystery. He showed no remorse the MOTHER showed no remorse. She didn't feel compassion for the nephew he gave himself a B+ on his performance. I will never understand how ppl have the chance to make a difference and CHOOSE not to.

Manslaughter is the only way this could have gone. He didn't wake up that morning, thinking he was going to go out a kill someone. It's not something he knew he was going to do. As stupid as he is, and as scared as he was doing his job, he didn't know he was killing somebody, that day.

Naturally, he didn't wake up and say I'm going to kill her specifically but if we watched and heard the say thing he DEFINITELY went in to each shift wanting to kill somebody. Complete change in demeanor upon cross examination. I lived in Ft Worth/Arlington area 4 a short time. Prejudices were quite obvious at that time. Doesn't seem much has changed.

Honestly, real raw comments….what would you do if this was your child, your son in this situation. Anyone who doesn’t have kids can’t answer this honestly. But for those who do, what would do? How would you feel and what would you position be?
I would show empathy for the young woman that was killed.
I would be human being and show compassion.

I would tell the Atatiana Jefferson family how truly sorry I am that my child was the cause of the death of their loved one. It's called human decency. The trick is that you have to understand before you can show it. Notice, I didn't say you have to HAVE human decency. If the killer's mother had simply expressed the words of human decency, she would have helped humanize her KILLER son. But, she lacked the capacity.

The US legal system allows for defendants to provide charectar witnesses and testimony on their behalf during sentencing. Nothing wrong with that all in my opinion, especially if said testimony ends up backfiring which often does happen - the sentencing protion of Ahmaud Abrey's killers is an example that comes immediatley to minde.
