Pink Floyd's best song with lyrics:
Hello,
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me
Is there anyone home?
Come on
Now
I hear you're feeling down
I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again
Relax
I'll need some information first
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move
But I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like
Two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain
You would not understand
This is not how I am
I... Have become comfortably numb
O.K.
Just a little pin prick
There'll be no more aaaaaaaah!
But you may feel a little sick
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working
Good
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on
It's time to go
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move
But I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone
I... Have become comfortably numb - Видеоклипы

This song embodies everything wrong about my life right now.
Music speaks, man.
That bit at the end with the guitar. You just don't hear music like that anymore.
i know.i like some of todays stuff but most isnt for me and i'm into everything almost from soul to jazz and funk and blues to rock to hip hop(real hip hop)to old country and very lil new to edm, dance, disco, tekno and industrial to pop and some twerk and some trap and trip hop and dubstep so wow, alot of different styles and genres i like to just refer to as musick .it's like the art of musick is being lost instead of being added to.there's nothing wrong with new sounds and methods but to abandon the creativity and pure artistry and skills needed for some dumbed down mumble-jumble that is retarded is a crime in my opinion.
+rasheedqe
To be fair, you didn't hear music like that then, either, outside of Floyd, Bowie, Queen, and perhaps a few tracks by a few others of the day, some of which were also truly great songs, even though they were one- or two-hit wonders for the otherwise average bands/singers who produced them: most of the rest, even then, was pretty ordinary, outside of the true greats. Also, not really fair to compare the guitar solo(s) to *ANYONE* else: I would argue that Gilmour is the best guitar player the world has yet seen, bar none, and this song has (arguably) his best work, too. This entire song is just an immortal classic, by an immortal band; not likely to be equalled nowadays or at any other time - unique.
The ending solo gives me chills everytime I listen to it
i touch myself when i'm listening to the solo and i am not even ashamed of it
the 95 people who disliked must have thought it was a download button
The audio is terrible in this video but the song is one of my favourites
+mussilman 234 LOL
+mussilman 234
This is (NOT) how I am...
I do believe it's working good....
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon...
Maybe this is where those 95 td came from... Mine is the 108th.

True, they must not be very smart.
Best song ever written in my opinion.
Pink Floyd
the child is grown, the dream is gone
This is what Roger Waters HATED about a lot of pink floyd fans. They just like to listen to pink Floyd's music and get high and don't pay attention to what he was trying to say. He made music to show how his life was and his feelings. And people just thought they were a drug oriented group. And all of these people are saying "it's awesome to listen to this song while you're high" when that wasn't the point of pink Floyd's music. Think about it.
You a have point but to be honest when I first watched "the wall" movie it was to complicate until i smoked my bud is when shit got understandable....the movie was meant for you to get blazed and watch it, even if it really wasn't.
Legally Arrested If it was too complicated for you without drugs, it means you have no sense for art... I'm sorry but it is true. Watched it for over 4 times, and every time I was sober...
Lore Brepoels I don't have a sense of art? what the hell are you talking about that's like saying i don't have a sense of math or sense of vocabulary only cause i didn't understand it doesn't mean i don't have it...everyone has a sense of art,you just practice it like a skill and the better you understand it.
With art I don't imply that you don't have a sense for rational thinking -,-. I implied that a sense of art is inherently in Pink Floyds' movie. Indeed, the 'art' of art is that you practice it, so it'll become more sophisticated. But if you can only watch it, being under influence of something, your perception of it might be different from the art it is meant to 'be'.
If you find the movie complicated the first time you watch it, it means that OR you have no knowledge of anything of Pink Floyd, OR that you have no knowledge of the art that is intrinsic in it, and that you must search for it in a way of reflecting about the movie. Just as Pink Floyd, and in the particular, Roger Waters, wanted you to do.
It's ridiculous to watch a film under influence, just because the film is about drugs (and other things of course, but mainly drugs..).
Many people believe that they would understand it better in that way, but I believe.. that's a fully misunderstood view.
The Film does have some connection with drug use but the movie is NOT about drugs or mainly about drug .The movie had a huge influence on self image towards Roger and if you knew anything about Roger, like you mentioned before, you would have known that he had a hard time communicating with his fans and his band members especially David leading Roger to create an imaginary wall away from society and I knew this before watching the movie.Yeah sure the character "Pink" was hallucinating from drugs but if you want to talk about sense of art when it comes to knowledge of Pink Floyd than the sense here is symbolic of the character and real life situations not drug use at all. I'm also aware that you typed "and other things of course" but you didn't mentioned Roger Water's emblematic role in the movie only "mainly drugs" so the one without sense of art here is not me. And so what it was complicated the first time and was understandable being under the influence, that still doesn't show how i don't have a sense of art. It simply means that I have a mere focus on the subject being under it because I'm pretty sure "being under the influence" doesn't not enhance a better sense of art or make you more brilliant. If that's you think than you belong "Outside the Wall".
Anyone can interpret these lyrics anyway they want and no-one is wrong in their own interpretation. One idea I had, is what I imagine guru's and yogi's strive for .. being comfortably numb to the world and being just "a being". Being able to Involve yourself whole heartedly in your passion, be it literary, bungee jumping, being an artist of any kind, car racing ... whatever passion that takes over your mind completely and utterly, can make one 'comfortably numb' to the outside world. It doesn't have to be drug or alcohol induced... but my opinion doesn't matter, only yours does, because I am comfortably numb!
Penny Taylor Very well put Penny. You obviously appreciate life in all its aspects. Respect to you.....
Kids, this is why Pink Floyd is the best band ever.
R. F. 3D best for me

And yeah I'm not a satanist
I think that this song could describe every sensitive person... with the right words...
Actually its not about sensitive people, its a song about the lead singer went crazy.
TheEarmuffs10 Lol ?
***** You're right! All depends on our projection and imagination.
Саво Голубовић Syd Barret is his name. Wish you were here, Shine on you crazy diamond and Comfortably Numb is abouth him. They miss their buddy who messed up his brain with heavy drug use.
It's actually about the how the lead singer felt like while overdosing on herion right before having to play at a concert. He describes his experience with it and also what happened. "Can you stand up?"is when the manager found him trying to help him out so he could play.
Thank you so much fromthe bottom of my heart. This musical piece is not only one of the best classic rock songs, but also the description of a feeling i guess everyone of us had once in his life. Sweetest interstate kiss....
I personally identify with this song, I was gravely sick when I was a child, and I miraculously recovered from a 104 fever, constant seizures, although it left devastating scarring on my brain and my left arm isn't good for much. The important thing is that I'm alive and well, seventeen years later.
+James Vinson A big kiss for you from heart dear :) XXX
+Seth Walker I don't fully believe you went to 109 m8 once you start passing the 106ish mark you literally start melting internally pretty much if you're spiking that high then you should be dead
I... Have become comfortably numb
From someone who was a heroin addict for 7 years this song is a flash back to say the least. I know have over 8 months clean and this song still gives me chills.
Steven Voelker staying strong when you get the weakest , good job man
Yes, I too have memories of that ship on the horizon.
One of the best songs in history!!... thanks
Comfortably numb is a wonderful place to be. No worry, fear, jealousy or negative emotion also no disquieting positive emotion (like joy or extreme pleasure from which you must inevitably "recede"). Comfortably numb is a zen like state of peace, content and acceptance and is one of the doorways (there are many) to happiness. One would hope to reach the comfortably numb state without the use of drugs (!) and it is one of the grand consolations of the onset of middle age. Yes, goodbye to youthful skin and hello to grey and wrinkles .. but also hello to comfortably numb .. a state that money cannot buy and can only be arrived at through experience.
I actually see "comfortably numb" as a negative state. While on a purely logical standpoint, being numb to all things is neither good nor bad, but neutral, I think that not being able to feel is a negative thing. I think the voice offering drugs to numb physical pain (likely the symbol for emotional pain) has a sense of maliciousness that the band purposefully incorporated. It seems as though not only does the song address a child growing up, but the loss of individuality and truly being able to live. It seems as though the word "comfortably," has a positive connotation that is used ironically. The word doesn't give the numbness any passion, but it makes it harder to give up and seemingly unnatural.
It seems to me as though the voice offering drugs represents the responsibilities of the world and how demanding of image rather than substance it can be. The world would rather watch a shell that can put on a "show" than a sad man.
I was really surprised when reading your opinion of this song, as I hope you will be if you read mine. It's so incredibly fantastic that a song can have such different interpretations acting as windows into ourselves. Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands for this reason.
Yes you are right about interpretations of words. They "slip and slide" as TS Elliott once said. And you are also right about Pink Flloyd being brilliant. Their music provokes thought and those are not the only lines from their songs that have had meaning for me. They are particularly incisive around those themes concerning the passage of time "and then one day you'll find .. 10 years have passed you by .. no one told you when to run .. you missed the starting gun"!. With regards to your own interpretation of this song I think what lead me to a positive interpretation was the word "comfortably". Without this adjective attached to "numb" I'd have maybe liked the song a little less. :)
I'm comfortably numb. It's not good.
Thank God for advancing age, learning to become "comfortably numb." It takes a lot of courage to add on the years, however, very much worth the effort, patience and misunderstanding.
Dafuq you mean, I fucking hate being comfortably numb! It's FUCKING horrible duuuuude...
The Wall was THE album to have during my HS days. Still loving it 35 years later.

i think the line goes "This is NOT how i am"
+Seth Walker well, actually if you listen to it, he clearly says something after 'this is' and before 'how i am'.
+Seth Walker "when i was a child i had a fever, my hands felt just like two balloons. Now i've got that feeling once again i can't explain, you would not understand, this is how i am" how does that make sense?
+Cmydagger u are right m8
It is.
yes it does its not a huge deal except this is one of the greatest songs ever by one of the greatest bands ever!and my most favorite all time connect to my soul song i've ever heard.
really appreciate the higher pitch, that subtle change makes it that much better
the most brilliant solo ever written.....Gilmour makes it talk with so much expression. the man is a true musical genius. not forgetting the whole band as one they'll always be unmatched.

+Nathan Kiskaden hmm I see man thanks for the reply but I am a spirtualist into new age spirtuality. And therapy isnt really for me since You can talk to your friends and also I found a way through spirtuality I am just waiting to save up to the events thanks for the reply man appreciate it. Peace! ✌️✌
The first solo make me tear everytime :')
i agree the music was not about drug use but lack of feelings and even more so today feel sorry for the upcoming generation when i grew up before cells phones life was so much more caring not communicating without hearing a person's wonderful voice but i am happy for one thing we did and will have pink floyd as far as being happy to experience when they were the ones to listen to and still admire their talent a wonderful group of musicians who in my era gave me delight even today rock on
i think it's about not reaching ones potential and accepting it
EXACTLY! Kay.
TheAdanaca The Universal Law of Acceptance is difficult to learn, but once mastered, there is great peace in it. Kay.
To Michael Martin, my heart felt condolences I cannot say I share your pain but I can share the pain as you do just lost my dad recently not that it by any means the same because grief is a very private matter to each individual. I will wish you the warmest wishes and the strength to remember the good times which at times is painful, but he will always be within you. The very best to you. With Respect, Denise from New Jersey
Saw this performed live in London, David Gilmours guitar solo blew my mind, what an Axe hero.
Why do people get on here and trash great music ? What do they think the album was made directly for you?
donald begley Well said I just want listen to the music and this is one of the greats, anyone who cannot like it is tone deaf and has no soul.

take it the way you want...this song should be interpreted through the years way after it was written...by the person who reads the words and realizes what their life is really all about...continue on
This song is just so painful, it's remind me of someone who I loved with all my heart.. Someone that turned me emotionally numb.. after that he vanished forever from the ones that really loved him.
Perfect!
today is not music like this, no offense to anyone but ... this is the exact meaning of the word MUSIC:
Great song this one, reminds me of The Departed
THANKS ...
Happy Birthday - David Jon Gilmour, CBE (born 6 March 1946) (68) is an English musician, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He is best known for his work as the guitarist and co-lead vocalist of the progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It is estimated that as of 2012, the group have sold over 250 million records worldwide, including 74.5 million units sold in the United States. In 2005, Gilmour was appointed CBE for his services to music.
The band d.biddle has a lot of pink floyd style, Im reminded of them a lot when i hear this song
