You're a lot lighter than I am. I've owned my 09 SS for over 8 years & it has a perfect permanent imprint of my butt in the seat lol. Nice video. I hope you've kept the car since this video.
I have a 2006 Cobalt LS base model.210,347 miles and very depenable. No major issues no oil leaks still have original clutch. Other than general maintenace very reliable
SergNextdoor it’s a 2009, I have zzp decatted downpipe, Injen upper pipe, zzp 91 tune, gm stage 1 sensors, and zzp cold air intake, the lower pipes on these cars are good they usually last a long time, it’s night and day difference from stock when I got it tuned
SergNextdoor also a muffler delete makes the car sound a lot better and not that loud, check out my instagram @gerardo.madera135 to see more that’s where I post everything I do
Excited for this channel, I have an lsj 😁 Let's see that suspension upgraded, maybe some konis or like you said Coilovers $$$$, Keep up the upload bro, rootin for ya
Love the car. Got a 2010 SS one myself. But I do disagree with you about the seats, I find them super comfy especially for the type of car it is. Definitely better than the lsjs imo. Also how hard was it to do the short shifter?
The short shifter install was pretty easy brother. Took me bout a good hour and a half for removal and install . I recommend buying some type of lubrication/grease to lubricate the ball joint and any other friction areas of the shifter. 👍👍
Good to know, thanks for the information and advice. I’m thinking of getting one for mine once I get it back. Always wondered if it was hard or not. But I’ll for sure be following your channel for the build. Looking forward to it!
Hahaha you got me there; admittedly I'm usually a one-handed driver. I have a bone stock 2010 with 178,000km or about 111,000 miles that's my daily. I have little video on my channel talking about it when I bought it
lol 2:55 your MISSING a critical mount bracket and thats why you have a hole rubbed in your pipe! look up the kit content and you will see what im saying. i have an 08 turbo full bolt on and tuned and with proper mounts this is not an issue.
always wanted this car. hey you need to tune for the intake, extra fuel isn't being read correctly by the ecu.. actually factor intake gives more hp than an intake with no tune.. its like 300 dollars for the tune..it would fix the issue air to fuel mismatch and add about 10 hp for the aftermarket intake do itttt. thank me later. awesome cat
Nice, man. One thing about the Trans fluid. GM fluid is the best, but if you want to use the Redline fluid, you need the MT85 for these. It matches the 85W oil that is stock. MT90 is ok for LSJ cars tho. I'm at similar mileage and I've used the MT85 and stock fluid before. Both seem to work fine.
So question what was the symptoms of the high pressure fuel pump? Did it throw a code? Because my car is misfiring and I have no idea why. Tried ignition coil and spark plugs and using seafoam to clean injectors and it’s still misfiring
Sub'd. I want to build my Ecotec too. I have a 2006 LSJ SC, with a short intake, exhaust, HP Tuners self tuned. DF Goblin frame makes it about 1500 lbs. Just bought 82lb Bosch injectors, so I can run E85 fuel. Is that available at the pumps in Cali?
@@sergnextdoor5213 Thanks! That doubled the my known number of E85 stations near me, from 3 to 6. I only have a 10 gallon fuel cell, and E85 is 30% less mileage than gas. Are you going to get into tuning your engine to make your modifications work? I spent ~$600 to get HP Tuners and an AEM wideband O2 sensor & gauge. My engine has never run better, and I am ready for the next round of modifications.
Ross Lawrence yeah brother I will tune my car soon, it’s my daily driver currently so once I get situated with another vehicle I’ll start modifying it heavily . How much did it cost u to tune the car with hp tuner?
@@sergnextdoor5213 ~$600 for the hardware, and Kyle at RUclips channel Goat Rope Garage has taught me how to tune. I am a patreon member of his @ $15/month while I learn, but will probably end that after 6 months.
I’m looking at a 2008 Cobalt SS. It’s a one-owner with clean CarFax and regular maintenance. The only thing I’m worried about is it’s at 170k miles. Thoughts?
Take it for a drive, see how it feels, Get a mechanic to look at it. If it’s good, ask for market value . If your getting a cobalt ss for a project car you are in a good situation already you possibly might have found a really good sound car.
#1 concern should be how well the vehicle was maintained with oil changes! Because of the timing chains & especially if the car has variable cam timing! (the variable valve solonoids can get clogged with carbon & oil sludge! There are two timing chains & two tensioners! You have to start the car when it is dead cold & listen for a tapping noise only at start up! If you hear a tapping noise which quickly goes away, It is the top timing chain tensioner which is SIMPLE TO CHANGE! Can be gad for arround $20bux & its on the passenger side rear of the motor-EASY TO GET TO!!! However, 1ST THINGS FIRST, JUST CHANGE THE ENTIRE TIMING SET-UP, BOTH CHAIN'S, & TENSIONERS ALONG WITH THE TIMING GUIDES & OILER, & THE WATER PUMP, & THERMOSTAT, ALONG WITH FRESH COOLANT! There are millions of video's online explaining in detail on just how to do it! Watch all that you can find & keep in mind that the 2.0, 2.2, & 2.4 eco-tec is in several vehicle's from the cobalt, Pontiac G5, Chevy HHR, Saturn Ion, Cavalier & etc. The most important thing like I said is oil changes, timing chains & tensioners! Its nothing to pop off the valve cover & inspect the chain, upper guide & the "problematic guide bolt that is known to loosen up" but, mine is fine!!! Use thread locker on timing bolts!!!
no brother, stock turbo, ko4, its really tiny, but it hasnt smoked on me yet. lol this will be my project car soon so ill be bringing you more content.
Hey Serg I’m a fan and no lie because of you and cam I bought an 08 turbocharged one and want to know if when you installed the intercooler if you were able to use the stock piping also I want to upgrade the actual turbo from the k04 and of course should tune it .it already has a tune on 24psi so should do a base tune and work up from there? I don’t break anything on it Seeing as I just got it today
Yeah bro the stock piping should fit right in if it’s a zzp intercooler. Some aftermarket intercooler that are universal need custom fitting but if u bought it From zzp or an intercooler specifically for the cobalt you should be good.
@@sergnextdoor5213 thanks man and with a little research managed to find one in florida(where my brother lives) for five grand .the previous owner didn’t do anything to it except the tune and the guy wasn’t abusing the car lol when I got it home it had a Christian music song cd in the CD player .I’m hoping that’s a good omen but yeah bro thanks your videos are awesome and you got a great scene out there .take care man and I’ll upload a video tomorrow of my cobalt it’s damn near 2 am here in Nashville but I definitely want to keep you posted
