You can do the idle relearn at home on these, here's the process (I just did it on mine) Start and idle the engine in PARK for 3 minutes. With a scan tool, monitor desired and actual RPM. The ECM will start to learn the new idle cells and Desired RPM should start to decrease. Ignition OFF for 60 seconds. Start and idle the engine in PARK for 3 minutes. I just bought a 07 Pontiac G5 & its the same exact car but, in a 2 door coupe. Since there is a difference in the fuse box in older models, & since yours is also a 07, I was wondering if you could look inside your underhood fuse box & tell me the numbers on a specific relay please? On the bottom of that fuse box there is 3 relays. The middle relay. Above that, there is a bolt, then a yellow 20 amp relay, then the RELAY ABOVE THAT 20 AMP FUSE???? SO, FROM THE BOTTOM MIDDLE RELAY, the next relay above that? What are the numbers on that relay? In my G5, its a 5 pin socket where as, COOL FAN-1, & COOL FAN-2 both are 4 pin sockets. The relay that I am missing, (the bottom middle relay, go up to the next relay directly above that) is the "COOL FAN" RELAY!!! I BELEIVE these cars utilize a 3 relay set up to operate the cooling fan & all 3 must be working properly for the single cooling fan to operate! I do know that the top left pin in that ("cool fan") relay socket, If you ground that pin, the fan turns on! So, I ran a wire from that pin to a toggle switch, & out to a ground under my dash to make my fan work! But, I would like my fan to operate properly without human input! Thank you!

Good to know. 🔥🔥🔥🔥. As far as the trunk mat good luck I’ve been searching for a good condition one for my 2003 Saturn ion 3 and haven’t had any luck. Got one out of a cobalt but it’s nearly broken
My 07 colbalt did the same thing. But it was the ground underneath the oil filter on the engine block. The ring terminal rusted away. I tried the tuck ground it worked for a year. But came back. Check that ground and it will permanently fix the issue.
Nice looking little Cobalt. Sure doesn't look like has 190K on it. If it were from Maine where I am, the underside would be all covered with crud and rust.
Wish I knew about the sway bar bushings when I had my '08. Those ARE really simple to change. Fuel filter too. Dang it this video makes me want another Cobalt again. I miss that black sedan I had, took it to 250K, timing chain broke, which is sad because the previous owner said they changed a chain on it but it turns out that was just for the water pump, I guess they have two chains in them. If they had been more honest (or savvy) I'd probably still be driving that thing. Other than the engine failing the only other issue I had with that car was a little rattle up front, bet the sway bar bushings were needed, because I had already bought struts and shocks and did brake work and did control arm bushings and tie rods and all that.
Going to try to get away with it on this one. If it doesn’t sell I’ll go ahead and fix it. I’m hoping the shiny paint will distract the buyer from the bumper issue lol.
right where you showed and said ‘this is all dry there’s no leakage, mine is so miner there’s like a oil/break dust residue on it, is those normal or is it leaking somewhere, never seems to have n issue just curious if it’s normal or not ( 8:09 )
Simply Amazing, who would ever thought a ground would fix everything, i will remember this because you never know. Hope you do good on this little beutty, gonna make someone a good driver.
Modern cars are more susceptible to grounding issues, because the computers must have good grounds to operate. In turn, a poorly grounded computer does things like this Cobalt did.
If you can find the factory ground that is failing you should fix that. At minimum, run a heavy wire for ground because, apparently, everything is getting ground through that one wire.
Having good electrical grounds are really so important on computer controlled vehicles. Congrats on getting this Cobalt back up and running so quickly!

Maybe that is why my 99 Oldsmobile with 125k wouldn't do anything 🤗 sold it for 400 bc no one could figure it out
Modern cars are more susceptible to grounding issues, because the computers must have good grounds to operate. In turn, a poorly grounded computer does things like this Cobalt did.
If you can find the factory ground that is failing you should fix that. At minimum, run a heavy wire for ground because, apparently, everything is getting ground through that one wire.
WB think your luck has swung to the good side ! Super Job
I need all the help I can get lol.
