Don't you miss the good old days of SS and SRT 4. When the companies TOOK CHANCES? Their interiors always look like shit but at least you got a very powerful car for not a lot of money.
Bigtruckseriesreview Motorsports totally agree man!!! Cheap cars that were super quick! . I have never been a person that needs a nice interior car with all these bells and whistles.
I own an srt-4 and I have drive a turbo cobalt ss. They both are really fun cars! I'm not one of those srt-4 owners that rival the cobalts lol. I sold my first srt4 then almost got a turbo cobalt but deal fell thru so I picked another srt4 up.
I was all about this platform until I bought my Impala SS. I'm going to have a hard time leaving the v-8 platform. Been considering a chevy SS for a replacement daily driver. I will say though that new focus RS looks awesome. I may have to give it a test drive before I make my choice.
Oldies will remember this car from NFS most wanted, the Cobalt was one of the best cars if not the best, not the nicest looking car but I'll buy a car for asthetics or for driving dynamics, and this car got them. Nice little thing.
As a new 24yr old with a new dream job, I bought a brand-new, fully-loaded Cobalt LT off a lot , and it had every option except a sunroof (IIRC) - and it was a great little car with outstanding gas mileage, comfort, and little luxuries - I admit fully, it wasn't the kid of car that gets girls INTO it - but once they got in, they would all be like "WOW, this is MUCH NICER than I would have thought!" Loved it and it served me right.
Thomas Orfano It's because this was a time where GM was taken as a joke, but this car is one of the underrated hidden gems of the GM Family. This and the Turbo are probably one of the greatest creations GM has ever produced.

I have yet to drive a cobalt. Bought one 2 months ago with motor already pulled. Rusted crank, scored cylinder. Now it’s back from the machine shop ready to build into… this will be a DF Goblin race motor. Yes I will post videos… 2007 Cobalt SS will get new neutral balance shafts for higher rev. Forged rods, pistons. 10.5:1 compression for running e85 (otherwise it would be a grenade) Ported heads, big cam. BIG injectors, pump… cooling mods for engine and intake. And swapping the M62 supercharger with 14lbs of boost for a tvs1320 supercharger that can handle 24+lbs of boost. Motor is going back into cobalt while I get the goblin kit. Then cobalt is a donor for the DF goblin with the motor, trans and everything else needed for the swap. Lots of ZZP parts on my list. Hoping to get 450hp after tuning. I almost broke my neck watching one of these exotic Colbolts driving by, then my ego was killed when I realized my car would never be as bad ass as the beauty I was looking at.
This is a poor example of these car's abilities, I had a 2007 SS with the G85 and Recaro Seats, 3in exhaust, Borla, OTTP Heat exchanger and single pass intake manifold, LS4 Throttle body, 3in stainless intake, 60lb injectors, ton of other stuff and most importantly a Harrop TVS 1320 Supercharger replacing the stock M62 supercharger, made 298whp at 20psi, just about every suspension mod. Oh yea it also got 381 miles on a tank during a trip out to Ohio which is about 35mpg......Sadly there is no car I can buy today from GM at any price much less 23k (which is what I paid special ordering it Nov 2006) that has this performance and economy.
Man I wish your reviews were top dog on RUclips... You deserve it man! You show emotion, you tell truth! I have NEVER felt in my YEARS of watching that you are trying to SELL a brand. You tell it like it is. Keep it up man!
The car comes stock with a banging sound system. You can see in the left side of the trunk where the factory sub is. Its well balanced when it's stock. Thing is no aux but the stereo can play mp3 files so I would burn data cds with mps files. That gives you 70-100 songs on 1 disk.
Ryan follows us on instagram! And it's great to see our followers finally getting some reviews on their cars!! We have a very tight nit community solely because of the Cobalt! It might have a lot of recalls.. But we embrace it! #TeamRecall
subaruwrxfan hey, I've been watching your vids for awhile now and it's inspired me to start my own channel doing car reviews. Do you have any tips? Thanks!!
Cobalt _Society do you have a PDF of the 1,000 HP Forced Induction kit catalog that was available for Drag Racing the Ecotec from GM Performance in the 00's ? I'd like to see it, just curious.
All these people hating on the car must be 15 y/o's who are obviously starting to get into the car scene and think an Evo is the best car ever because they saw it on F&F. You forget this car came out more than 10 years ago and back then it was among the best among in its class in terms of performance, I'm pretty sure you would've wanted one. Obviously there are much better choices now as technology progressed. Learn to appreciate what it is just like a true car guy appreciates other people's builds and/or older cars. And yes I bought one new and still own it.
always been wanting to trade my Grand Prix GTP for one, but always have to slap myself in the face back into reality. should really look into those cars matt, or ones with a 3800. huge following and depth in modding with fantastic results. Good to see a review like this again!
Dope looking Cobalt! love the custom interior, and the lights look perfect. You dont need to do a lot to these cars to make them look super cool, you did good man!!
Cobalts didn't lose value because of the ignition switch issues, they lost value because they were replaced by the Chevy Cruze which is a better car quality wise. The cavalier lost value when the cobalt came along because it was a better car. I had an 05 Cobalt SS like this one but in black. I had no issues with it, other than the fuel economy sucked. The interior had no squeak or rattles either, and it handled very well. That must be the owners fault for toying with the suspension if the ride is bad. If you read the copy of motor trend, I believe back in 09 the Cobalt SS still holds a record running the Nurburgring until this day also, and that was with the turbo model. So Chevy did something right. I'd take a Cobalt SS again for sure as a weekend ride (due to the fuel economy). P.S. My 2014 Toyota Camry is full of plastic too, and so was the civic of that era.
Fuel economy issue is an easy fix, taller tires on the front and plus a dyno tune with cruise tables adjusted for economy...applies to any car...this car can easily cruise 75 mph on the highway at 2500rpm or lower but the final drive ratio is a 4.05...very short...taller tires will help with this at the least
The seats are actually from the 2008+ Cobalt SS Turbocharged. If you didn't order the Recaro package on the supercharged you got the regular pleather Cobalt seats in either black or with red, blue or yellow inserts.
Multiplex having a cammed exhaust and 3.2 setup GTP, they're deifnetly undermined by many and would woop a many cars like this...not to sound high and might but people don't see them for what they are, modded 3800 SC cars.
Kevin Brabham always loved the Dale Earnhardt Jr or the Intimidator models, had good styling with the updated grills and side skirts. honestly they're great cars for what they are! definitely a great first car than I continue to mod with good results that many wouldn't think twice about but oh well, to each their own. Would love to go have a G8 GT/GXP. Great body styling and motors for a grocery getter.
Simple Skyline I agree. This SS Cobalt is worlds apart from your standard trim cobalts. It might share the same platform but under all of that it was one of the best cars of it's time
No the hate is because stickers are stupid unless it's maybe a small suspension brand sticker. Other than that it's a good bit of hate due to the fact it's the S/C model which isn't as good as the T/C model.
The cobalt has always been my favorite American econobox. My mom has an LT sedan and she loves it. I love it too. The Cobalt SS would be my choice for a hot econobox, although I'd dake the turbocharged version over the SC
NOFATCHICK1 ironic coming from the guy who's name is NO FAT CHICK. you probably are one of them dudes who drives a Honda hatch with an I heart JDM sticker sticker lol
NOFATCHICK1 I apologize that you think I'm a "fuckboy". But no, I'm just an average college student who enjoys cars and the car scene. I think the real dilemma here is that you're bashing on other car owners. Keep it classy
It is amazing and surprising how much better the 2008 Turbo was than this one. That one embarrassed the WRX STi and Evo at VIR and even the 2014 Focus ST.
You can get one of these for 4K less, you put 4K into a turbo kit and E85 swap, you’ll be gapping lambo’s and that ain’t a lie. Js 🤷🏻♂️ just be sure to beef up the timing set
Currently own one…put the work in (suspension, injectors, tuneup, cai, upgraded brakes, short throw shifter, and a muffler that rusted through) and not a penny more…RELiABLE every since and just enough to stay ahead of traffic…best little buggy ever 🔥🤞🏾❤️…same color and gonna paid the stockies black also 👑…8/10 overall…the fact that these are getting rarer and going up in value (priceless)
I own an rx8 and couple buddies own cobalt ss's, they wreck my little rotary in a straight line. Track another story, but the cobalt 0-60 is a full .9 seconds faster which is nuts
Hahaha! A year ago I started listening to your videos (wich I love!) when I was searching for a car and I finally got a 2007 cobalt SS supercharged. I can say that the streering in mine is absolutly great, it's smaller has a tight grip and has a good weigt to it too. My car had a modified suspension and it was so bad that I bought the factory one back and it's not bad honestly, so Chevy may have change that! Unfortunatly though, it is always broken.. The previous owner wasn't the smartest guy around and maybe it's his fault but.. always a little something going on. And living in Montreal, Canada, driving in the snow is kinda tricky but you get use to it! Keep up your good work! :p
I had a 2006 SS SC and in Chicago the pot holes successfully bent the frame. Both front control arms had to be replaced at one point and both wheel barings. The frame bend caused them to not be able to correctly align the front end. It also cracked its down pipe at the flex tube. They are sadly really junk cars, you get what you pay for in this case. Regular cobalt no such issues.
Greenest Dreamer st are nicer but not faster. I kill my friends st in my supercharged ss my turbo ss would destroy it. they are way nicer though. the ss interior is shit in comparison.
Greenest Dreamer yea his st is stock and my supercharged ss is stock. my turbo ss has a hahn s20g turbo kit, with a tr12 intercooler and a full 3" exhaust on 93. never raced the St with my lnf though.
Leeroy Jenkins I have a 78 Chevelle with a 350 small block it'll blow your fucking doors off that piece of shit Focus but yeah you're right that's supercharged wine is good
Slowbalt all SS cobalt's had an upper grille insert, the supercharged models had the horizontal slits. the turbo got the mesh design that's in this review. I considered changing mine over because I thought it looks nicer, but never did.
The Cobalt is a really underrated car. My brother had an LT 4 door that had 31k on the speedometer when he bought it in 2010 and he just sold it last month with 165k on it. Never gave him any problems. Only thing he replaced was the alternator due to putting Sundown Subs into it. Never even changed the timing belt everything was still going strong. The only ones who hate on it are young 20 something years olds and older dudes who remember that period where GM put out a lot of shit boxes. Funny enough this car came out during that period and it was definitely the exception. My coworker still has his and it’s got 200k on it. Great little car man.
Just wondering if he has mods planned for the future. My buddy has one, he got it making 308hp at the wheels. These things can be monsters with proper mods
Not going to lie I was looking at these before I got my Si. Si is the nicer overall car IMO but damn that SC whine is beautiful, looks like a really fun car to drive.
i had one of these from 05 to 2013. best car i ever owned (thats saying alot seeing i drive a 15 audi a3 2.0t) if i ever found my old cobalt i would buy it back without hesitation.
I wanted one of these so bad after my friends and I went to a Hot Import Nights car show (most of you probably have no clue what this was)(sick state wide car show in the early 00’s), and they had a free autocross track with brand new Cobalt SS’s to test out. It was such a sick car!
Got this ss used for 3 grand. Used. Same color. Red. Got it at around 78,000 miles. Currently at 138,000 ish. No problems yet. But due to gas prices being so high I'm currently driving my hybrids.
i got a lowered 2007 stage 3 with crappy interior for $3500.... the exterior has a bad red paint job with drips an all but it does have a cool front and rear velocity splitter along with wheel spacers for that full on tuner look However eventually it needed a new clutch in fact the check engine came on about 15 mins after i test drove it and bought the car i also refurbished the alternator and starter which lead me down a misfire rabbit hole only to remember that the stage 3 package comes with a smaller serpentine belt than factory so when i changed the alternator i bought a oem factory SS belt when i actually need the stage 2 smaller belt... essentially the smaller belt caused timing issues and caused a misfire but during my deep dive into the rabbit whole i preformed all the basic maintenance including sparkplugs and sealing all VAC leaks i think the ac needs Freon it also had a water leak from the windshield i fixed with silicone and the sunroof motor stopped working, the tires were dry rotted and I also replaced a few sensors as well as fluids, car still runs rich enough to trip code so i need a tune at least something better than the zzp stage 3 canned tune but Luckily there is a huge ss/sc & ss/tc community and you can find detailed info on every issue the car might have or even how to complete big maintenance jobs like the timing chain but honestly the car is worth it, and surprisingly it gets respect from car fans... i dont know what it is but people like these little cars also the stage 3 exhaust sounds so good but it's loud.... I did recently change the clutch myself to keep the cost down and used REDLINE MT fluid, i don't know if that is why but my downshifts have been buttery also redline MT fluid is supposed to be good for brass synchros so it all adds up this is an engaging vehicle also I'm not new to the ecotec family i had a regular and a tuned LNF from a Sky redline and Solstice gxp respectively so I've had faster cars but wow this car demands your full attention because of the full power going to the front wheels in the case of my car maybe 230-265 hp it can be a challenged to maneuver while moving around quickly but once you take that bull by the horns it become a rewarding experience this car is definitely a gem and supercharged is the best bang for your buck because why spend 5-10k on a turbo cobalt that will have all the same minor issues as the SS/SC when you can get a nice corvette mustang or 350z for 10k or even better save your money drop 3k on a ss/sc fix it up a little and flip that car and get the turbo or a better car either way IMO the supercharged car is is the better budget option and lastly reliability is in favor of the SS/SC over all the LSJ is a more stout engine than the LNF it just need a stage 3 kit to fully breath and then the party starts but i routinely see people selling LSJ cars with 200K miles or more if you're mechanically savvy or have endless DOLLA DOLLA bills get you a cobalt SS and have some fun
the seats in front are from a turbocharged cobalt. they really are good cars I can't complain about mine at all. yeah interior is cheap but you can't complain with the performance they offer. good review
I have a '05 Saturn Quad Coupe, suicide doors, 5 spd. manual with 2.0. Think they are built on the same chassis. They are all noted for having front end "clunking" noise when going over bumps. It is from the lower control arm bushings.. less than good design. Even replacing the bushings and the clunk will soon return. Clutch is really easy, and I haven't had any problem with the shifter. The interior in the Saturn looks like a step up from the Cobalt. Nice fun little cars. Unfortunately mine is looking for a new home and it will sadly be missed when the time comes.
Those seats are from the 08-10 Cobalt SS Turbos, he just swapped them in. Also, these cars were misadvertised in terms of their stock power. They typically put out ~215 WHP from the factory in years 2006-2007, while 05 like this one puts out ~195 WHP
Nice review matt.......would have liked to see the review on the turbocharged model........maybe do a nice comparison video if you can get your hands on one
I use to work at Chevy dealer years ago. When they were still pretty new and I had to do oil changes they were fun cars but most had a problem where the paint was badly faded or chipped off but only the interior area.
In early 2005, I had started a dream job but it was involving a significant amount of driving, and I was using my Dad's Dodge Durango ... he explained I needed to get a car, and then a week or two later it was like " I guess you didn't understand me, you need to get a car NOW, like, Tonight Would Not Be Too Soon... next week, I'm giving *MY* truck to your sister, and if you want to get to work, you're going to need a car..." - and since he had some GM credit card points to use, I went with GM and wound up with a *beautiful* little gold Cobalt LT.. (there was no LTZ or higher package than the LT in the first year...) I asked about the SS , I really wanted that supercharger ... but the Salesman was like, "Oh, we're in the first week of March ... you won't see any SS models on a lot until mid-Summer at best... probably the Fall..." ... OK, well, I'll take this one then... saw a Black SS (the one I wanted) a week later lol. MFML. But it was a great little car.
If you can find the turbocharged one to review that would be awesome. They were massively improved. I'm looking to buy one. The held the record on the Nurburgring at the time for FWD.
Got an 2010 HHR SS that's fun as hell to drive, especially on tight corners. Might be cheap plastic on the inside but for the price who cares, you know what you're getting. Now on my Taurus SHO is where I expect the nicer inside surfaces.
For those of you that buy boosted eco boxes, don't do ANY "visual upgrades" this car is a good example of why you shouldn't. If you must upgrade do engine suspension a good quality exhaust.
Bigtruckseriesreview Motorsports, yes on the SRT4
Shame they wouldn't do it in a quality made car you'd actually want, then it costs 35k
I own an srt-4 and I have drive a turbo cobalt ss. They both are really fun cars! I'm not one of those srt-4 owners that rival the cobalts lol. I sold my first srt4 then almost got a turbo cobalt but deal fell thru so I picked another srt4 up.

This is actually my first car in NFS most wanted
wasn't the highest top end car but at least it topped out fast enough to kick ass
I personally think these cars are cool, they're fast and look decent, don't know why they get so much hate. A good bang for your buck imo
Thomas Orfano It's because this was a time where GM was taken as a joke, but this car is one of the underrated hidden gems of the GM Family. This and the Turbo are probably one of the greatest creations GM has ever produced.

Exactly , you can get one with 120xxx no problems for 4k

schmo7777 ikr, it was the fastest fwd car on the nurburgring for like a decade
schmo7777 shame they made so little. Hard to find near me even in Chicago, but thinking about getting one as my new car.
My Volkswagen Tiguan makes the same power😂 I bet my wife will dust a cobalts SS because of the AWD in the VW 😂😂
I disagree. The ion redline is more underrated, and more reliable

Doesn't look too bad and it sounds pretty nice, I guess people hate on it cause it's a chevy..
Simple Skyline I agree. This SS Cobalt is worlds apart from your standard trim cobalts. It might share the same platform but under all of that it was one of the best cars of it's time
Chevrolet And Chevy Are Same Company Or Not?
No the hate is because stickers are stupid unless it's maybe a small suspension brand sticker. Other than that it's a good bit of hate due to the fact it's the S/C model which isn't as good as the T/C model.
Chevy is the best Ford sucks Lincoln is good Mercury sucks GMC good I guess
I think they hate it because of the way it looks
would be cool if it was rwd
The front sits lower than the back
Thats very true but then the engine would have to be rotated along with a complete redesign. If you did it on your own thats a ton of fabrication$$
Wouldn’t be a neon competitor if it was
@@brightsydebill8410 it'd compete with a lot more lol still a really cool car
All wheel drive suits this car more imo
These engines are great, I have one in my ION redline. Making 250 to the wheels in a car that weighs 2500 pounds feels like a lot more!
The cobalt has always been my favorite American econobox. My mom has an LT sedan and she loves it. I love it too. The Cobalt SS would be my choice for a hot econobox, although I'd dake the turbocharged version over the SC
I love my 05 Cobalt, not an SS, not saying its anywhere near an SS, but it's still a fun car when you step on the gas in 2nd.
I bought a 06 ss supercharged the other day has 253k and still has some pep in its step. Ecotech are great motors
I didn't mind mine when I had it, then it caught on fire. I still dont miss it
5 minutes into the review & I already know some fuckboy owns this car 😂
NOFATCHICK1 ironic coming from the guy who's name is NO FAT CHICK. you probably are one of them dudes who drives a Honda hatch with an I heart JDM sticker sticker lol
Joshua Vazquez don't really see how it's ironic when I chose this name early highschool. besides your the fanboy rocking that STI logo lol
NOFATCHICK1 ye I'm a subi fanboy and u can change your name silly goose XD
NOFATCHICK1 I apologize that you think I'm a "fuckboy". But no, I'm just an average college student who enjoys cars and the car scene. I think the real dilemma here is that you're bashing on other car owners. Keep it classy
thatRSLguy it's your cobalt? Awesome dude car sounds great and that interior design u did is awesome
These cars are underrated BT. Putting a few dollars into them can make a difference.
Finally! The review of the cobalt ss 😁👌
You should review any w-body car with the 3.8L L67 Supercharged V6. Those cars are comfortable and powerful at the time (240 HP) as well as efficient.
It is amazing and surprising how much better the 2008 Turbo was than this one. That one embarrassed the WRX STi and Evo at VIR and even the 2014 Focus ST.
Focus sucks all of Ford dose
I worked at a Chevy Dealership when these were brand new and just loved them!! I’m hoping to own one in a year or two.
Don't take this as a insult but your The Toby Flenderson of the car world! Great review! That wheel spin made you freak out haha
You can get one of these for 4K less, you put 4K into a turbo kit and E85 swap, you’ll be gapping lambo’s and that ain’t a lie. Js 🤷🏻♂️ just be sure to beef up the timing set
Need for speed most wanted
Don Ismael the only reason why i want this car
This car deserve some attention to appreciate.
Also 90% of comments are from Most Wanted, 10% of them appreciates this
William Rodier the 09 wasn't supercharged. It's was turbo or NA
Tis Reset yeah I know, it's a 2007 but I also have a 2009 malibu, I switched the two years lol
Tis Reset I changed it! 👌
I had a 2007 cobalt supercharged and traded it in for a 2014 focus st. Focus is better in every way but I still do miss that supercharger whine.
Greenest Dreamer I'm sure you'd turn it around and gap my supercharged ss.lol
Leeroy Jenkins I have a 78 Chevelle with a 350 small block it'll blow your fucking doors off that piece of shit Focus but yeah you're right that's supercharged wine is good
1978 Chevette not Chevelle
Ive asked for this for so long!!! :)
Ive been waiting for a review on one of these for so long
Retrofit headlights, Turbo Cobalt seats and upper grill.
Jim Harrington upper grill was in the 07 supercharged cobalt as well
Slowbalt all SS cobalt's had an upper grille insert, the supercharged models had the horizontal slits. the turbo got the mesh design that's in this review. I considered changing mine over because I thought it looks nicer, but never did.
Jim Harrington I know, I'm saying the 07 ss supercharged had the same grill
no it didnt
Slowbalt it did not. the 05-07 had the same grille. Then the turbos had the mesh.
These things can be monsters with proper mods
the pioneer sub in the trunk comes standard with the car
Nice to see a clean, unmolested example for a change.
A Person Yes
I agree most of these have been either crashed, seized or modded to hell their actually becoming quite rare at least in my area
Chevrolet And Chevy Are Same Company Or Not?
V - Trigger no they are different
Not going to lie I was looking at these before I got my Si. Si is the nicer overall car IMO but damn that SC whine is beautiful, looks like a really fun car to drive.
The si is also slower.
Really Like watching videos of older modded cars!
Currently fitting the same supercharger to my vx220 which weighs 2000 pounds, can’t wait for the results
Just picked one up yesterday! It's a really awesome car!
i had one of these from 05 to 2013. best car i ever owned (thats saying alot seeing i drive a 15 audi a3 2.0t) if i ever found my old cobalt i would buy it back without hesitation.
I have a 2008 Chevy Cobalt Sport. Never have had any issues with her either. Great, fun, beginner car.
I wanted one of these so bad after my friends and I went to a Hot Import Nights car show (most of you probably have no clue what this was)(sick state wide car show in the early 00’s), and they had a free autocross track with brand new Cobalt SS’s to test out. It was such a sick car!
Great video! I've been debating on getting one. Really good cars for the money!
Upgrading from a Ls to a Ss soon I’m so ready. Gonna be able to mod it quick since I’m already familiar with the engine.
Need to review an LNF or an LSJ-T.
Got this ss used for 3 grand. Used. Same color. Red. Got it at around 78,000 miles. Currently at 138,000 ish. No problems yet. But due to gas prices being so high I'm currently driving my hybrids.
Wow ... I've never thought of customizing plastic dashes like that haha great idea
Dan The Man thanks man! It's all done with sharpie
Damn man it looks really cool
thatRSLguy u got skills
Thats a nice GTR!!
i got a lowered 2007 stage 3 with crappy interior for $3500.... the exterior has a bad red paint job with drips an all but it does have a cool front and rear velocity splitter along with wheel spacers for that full on tuner look However
eventually it needed a new clutch in fact the check engine came on about 15 mins after i test drove it and bought the car
i also refurbished the alternator and starter which lead me down a misfire rabbit hole only to remember that the stage 3 package comes with a smaller serpentine belt than factory so when i changed the alternator i bought a oem factory SS belt when i actually need the stage 2 smaller belt... essentially the smaller belt caused timing issues and caused a misfire but during my deep dive into the rabbit whole i preformed all the basic maintenance including sparkplugs and sealing all VAC leaks
i think the ac needs Freon it also had a water leak from the windshield i fixed with silicone and the sunroof motor stopped working, the tires were dry rotted and I also replaced a few sensors as well as fluids, car still runs rich enough to trip code so i need a tune at least something better than the zzp stage 3 canned tune but Luckily there is a huge ss/sc & ss/tc community and you can find detailed info on every issue the car might have or even how to complete big maintenance jobs like the timing chain
but honestly the car is worth it, and surprisingly it gets respect from car fans... i dont know what it is but people like these little cars also the stage 3 exhaust sounds so good but it's loud.... I did recently change the clutch myself to keep the cost down and used REDLINE MT fluid, i don't know if that is why but my downshifts have been buttery also redline MT fluid is supposed to be good for brass synchros so it all adds up
this is an engaging vehicle also I'm not new to the ecotec family i had a regular and a tuned LNF from a Sky redline and Solstice gxp respectively so I've had faster cars but wow this car demands your full attention because of the full power going to the front wheels in the case of my car maybe 230-265 hp it can be a challenged to maneuver while moving around quickly but once you take that bull by the horns it become a rewarding experience
this car is definitely a gem and supercharged is the best bang for your buck because why spend 5-10k on a turbo cobalt that will have all the same minor issues as the SS/SC when you can get a nice corvette mustang or 350z for 10k or even better save your money drop 3k on a ss/sc fix it up a little and flip that car and get the turbo or a better car either way IMO the supercharged car is is the better budget option
and lastly reliability is in favor of the SS/SC over all the LSJ is a more stout engine than the LNF it just need a stage 3 kit to fully breath and then the party starts but i routinely see people selling LSJ cars with 200K miles or more
if you're mechanically savvy or have endless DOLLA DOLLA bills get you a cobalt SS and have some fun
Matt you should review a Lexus is300
NOFATCHICK1 I agree ;)
thebrzguy lol
YESSSSS
FINALLY! I own a 2006 and I love it!
the seats in front are from a turbocharged cobalt. they really are good cars I can't complain about mine at all. yeah interior is cheap but you can't complain with the performance they offer.
The seats come from a 08-10 SS/Turbocharged Cobalt.
Your profile pic is a Chevy sonic
I had a 2004 Ion Redline and I loved that car. I love the whine of the charger.
The subwoofer must weight a lot! Also these are the stock turbo cobalt ss seats! Great review, I expected this from our cars :P
Jean-Philippe Champoux downforce bruh
Huge thanks to Tom Henry Chevrolet for providing this cobalt SS to review today!
Those seats are from the 08-10 Cobalt SS Turbos, he just swapped them in. Also, these cars were misadvertised in terms of their stock power. They typically put out ~215 WHP from the factory in years 2006-2007, while 05 like this one puts out ~195 WHP
How are his hands moving so fast lol
"Break Necks Kill Ego's" Yeah your not breaking any necks in a Cobalt.
BCJDM I believe I'm entitled to have whatever I wish on my vehicle, no need for your rude comment
BCJDM it's still a neck breaker especially the red. honestly I had a lot of fun with my cobalt ss
BCJDM what do you drive?
thatRSLguy not rude, so much as accurate.
Meanwhile BCJDM drives his mom's old 2001 Camry with plastidipped wheels.
Nice review matt.......would have liked to see the review on the turbocharged model........maybe do a nice comparison video if you can get your hands on one
You're reviews rock 😉
I use to work at Chevy dealer years ago. When they were still pretty new and I had to do oil changes they were fun cars but most had a problem where the paint was badly faded or chipped off but only the interior area.
Matt, that may have been your fastest subaruwrxfan you've ever said lolol
SUPER DUCKS FAN!!
People really hate on this car... it's a nice car and it's pretty quick too
In early 2005, I had started a dream job but it was involving a significant amount of driving, and I was using my Dad's Dodge Durango ... he explained I needed to get a car, and then a week or two later it was like " I guess you didn't understand me, you need to get a car NOW, like, Tonight Would Not Be Too Soon... next week, I'm giving *MY* truck to your sister, and if you want to get to work, you're going to need a car..." - and since he had some GM credit card points to use, I went with GM and wound up with a *beautiful* little gold Cobalt LT..
Good review! Love the car reminds me of my old one
good name lol
Make me wish I still had mine! One of the best cars I ever had.
Had an '06 for 5 years. Great car!
And if the steering felt "loose and un-precise" than it probably needs some bushings.
Seats are from the 08-10 Turbo model just FYI
For those of you that buy boosted eco boxes, don't do ANY "visual upgrades" this car is a good example of why you shouldn't. If you must upgrade do engine suspension a good quality exhaust.
