    I'm on my second SS/SC. The first one was silver and bought brand new in 2006. After 3 years I had to give it back to the bank after a job loss and a market crash. I originally bought it for around $22,000.
    Fast forward to 2014, and I wanted my car back. I ended up finding one for $6000 and it was the laser blue metallic color. Sure it had 95,000 miles on it, but it was in fantastic shape and looked as good as it was brand new! I still got her today. She's my daily driver and I have also moved on to a Dodge Challenger SRT8. That guy is parked in my garage for the winter, but my baby blue is gonna rip the winter roads like we do every year. Awesome car. I can't wait to get a new paint job, carbon fiber hood, black rims and an updated stereo when I get the money. Don't let anyone fool you. The Cobalt SS/SC is capable of 12.5 seconds quarter mile. Trust me they can handle the road just fine.

    I had an '06, black with red interior. (didn't have the Recaro package and regretted missing out on that LSD) She was my first manual car as well. Over time, I got her the GM Stage 2 kit, AEM cold air intake, Vibrant headers, high-flow CAT, SLP CAT back exhaust (customized by installing an additional resonator to help with a bad oscillation), KYB front struts, and Exedy clutch and flywheel. I even had three sets of wheels/tires for street, track, and winter. By the time I traded her in, I was lining up a dual passthrough for the supercharger's heat exchanger, Quaife mechanical LSD, a low mounted heat exchanger expansion, and if I had some extra cash, a bigger supercharger.
    It isn't every day that the manufacturer of a car comes out with not one, but three stage kits for your car. Provided you had them installed by a GM dealer, they were all covered under warranty. Not to mention that GM wrote a book on how you can get 300 HP out of the engine. Fun fact...there's a reason why Ariel put that motor in their Atom.
    I honestly felt a sense of pride when I received compliments for how she looked and sounded. In the middle of the import tuner craze, I brought that Made In Ohio beauty to bare. Sure she had her flaws, but she was damn fun.
    I miss that car.

    This car looks incredibly clean, and having a clean car is having a great running car. Sounds obvious, but sometimes does hard. I want to get my hands on a 2006 2007 Cobalt LT or SS. I had a 1984 Pontiac Sunbird coupe in the early 1990s, and the only thing I replaced was the timing belt. GM does make some great cars.

  • @FrostTcg
    @FrostTcg 7 лет назад

    I’m still having a hard time adjusting to my 06 SS SC. I love the supercharged & all but it just feels underwhelming. On the fence about modding it to get the most max potential out of it with the m62. The gains I see up to 260-280 whp seems like nothing. My last 2 cars was a 00 Mustang GT & an 01 Cobra. Not that fast but still was fun to drive. While with my SS it gets boring.

    • @cobaltss50
      @cobaltss50 6 лет назад

      Fr33z3yb89 unless you turbo it your not going to get the most out of the car. Just the way it is with these cars.

    • @emjmedia4747
      @emjmedia4747  6 лет назад

      Fr33z3yb89 I’m making about 270 with it right now and it’s very quick. Way more power than I need around town but it sure is fun. If you want to make the max amount of power out of the car though, a turbo swap is the way to go.

    Funny, I just beat a 2016 Subaru sti 2 weeks ago lol. I'm full exhaust, 3inch pulley and cai. I've beat cars you definitely wouldnt think I could beat....rx7, SRT4, 60's chevelle, integra, a few BRZ's and some a few other forgettables.
    The best would be an 07 g85 cobalt ss with a turbo swap.....
    I'm stepping down to a 2.8 pulley w/60# injectors, dual pass endplate, phelonic spacer in a month or so, maybe sooner. Need that for summer lol.

      I owned one and wouldn't bother. The auto trans sucks. 05-06 you can't tune. 07-2010 you can. You can change shift points in the transmission for a more "sportier" feel but the money is better spent on an SS or building an 07-2010 manual LS. Very torquey with a stick shift.

    • @emjmedia4747
      @emjmedia4747  6 лет назад

      505 enthusiast easily one of the most reliable cars that I know of. I could easily see the LSJ engine reaching a million miles or more as long as you keep up with maintenance. Many people have way more miles on theirs than I do and they will tell you all day long about how it still runs and drives like it just came off the assembly line.

    • @jperdue3567

      I just recently bought an 08 lt 2.2 non turbo/sc. I've got about 124k on it and it runs beautifully. Once I have it paid off, I'm looking to throw a turbo on her and other basic mods. These cars are fun as hell to drive, and that's just from a standard coupe perspective. I can't wait to upgrade the suspension and feel like I'm riding in a go cart again. Been a long time since I've had a low Rider/tuner.
      Any suggestions on exhaust work from cat back, so not to void warranty, that will not have me sounding like a damn Civic?

    I have a cobalt LS and I’m modding the fuck out of it but a lot of people talk shit because it’s just an “LS” 😕 the reason I don’t like the car community anymore

    • @emjmedia4747
      @emjmedia4747  6 лет назад

      Uriel Presents unfortunately that’s the problem with many people in this world today. Honestly, I lot of them do it out of jealousy and/or pride. They may see your car and be jealous that you were able to turn something like a cobalt, a cheap gm econo car into something cool. Or they like to justify their own purchases. They talk shit about your car to boost their pride and ego and to justify what they did instead. Keep doing what makes you happy and what you think is cool. Who cares what kind of car it is, be proud of the time, money and effort you put into it to make it something different and something special to you. Find more people who think the same way as that in the car scene. I promise they are out there.

    • @mattneal4309
      @mattneal4309 5 лет назад

      No reason to turbo it unless your going for 400 plus hp. Theres a guy who's making 349 hp on stock m62 supercharger.

    • @hitmixhyepock9405
      @hitmixhyepock9405 4 года назад

      @@mattneal4309 that's not ideal, and is more work and money than just swapping it. The turbo making the same hp would be safer and more reliable than over spinning a supercharger....and probably not a stock m62. $1700 turbo kit>thousands more than that for more money and less torque more than likely.
