I rarely comment on RUclips videos, but this is by far the best start for a series. I’d love to see these gone through thoroughly and somewhat restored. Even just a cleaning video would be mega! Nice work boys.
The cars are really mega man, like, an engine bay clean, some new oil and sparkplugs, a small amount of ECU fixing and they are both looking at like 10-15hp. They just need some love!
I had a Saab 95 with the same engine. Mine was tuned by a guy called noobtune who is THE Saab tuning guru. Or at least he was at the time. Mine made 280bhp and 400ft/lb and that was a very fast car and very capable. I can only imagine what that corsa is like to drive haha. On a side note. That Saab engine will outlive that corsa shell! I had a custom cold air induction kit fitted to my 95 that fed the cone filter down behind the fog light which was removed to allow airflow. On my way home from a car show one evening I noticed that my turbo sounded a lot louder but thought nothing of it. I actually quite liked it. It wasn’t until the car went in for its MOT about 9-10 months later that my mechanic noticed that my cone filter had fallen off and was nowhere to be seen. I’d effectively been driving my car around through dusty, dirty, wet, muddy roads for nearly a year with no air filter and the thing was still running sweet as a nut!
The 9-5 came only with the B205/235, not B204/234 :) The 204/234 was in the 9000 and 900NG only (and in the first generation 9-3 without turbo or with low pressure turbo - the B204R (the "baby"-Aero engine) was only available in the first model year 9-3 before being replaced with the B205R) :) I had a 1994 9000 Aero Hirsch with the B234R that made 315 hp at the wheels from the factory, and lasted 480.000km before I sold it to someone who changed the gaskets and piston rings, and then increased the boost to create 480+ hp, and then crashed it within half a year on a trackday, totaling it.
I had a tune from him a year or two back, took my 93 aero to 250hp. That was fast enough, and that probably weighed almost a tonne more than this Corsa 😂
@@AIRDRAC The t7 and t5 cars aren't that different, the t5 cars are better for yobo style modding because you just need to do the head gasket and the t7 cars are better if you want to do it properly because they flow much better and the t7 system is a lot more sophistocated, but you need to get forged pistons, stock head gasket is good for 600hp though
That engine was plenty powerful in my old 9000 Aero, I can't begin to imagine the torque steer or wheel hop you'd get in a Corsa B! :O Also last forever, mine went 480.000km with a factory Hirsch tune to 315 hp at the wheels, before I sold it to a guy who decided that wasn't enough and changed the piston rings and gaskets, and increased the boost to create 480+ hp (probably quite a bit more, but it kept spinning the wheels on the dyno around 480)

I only intend to upgrade the front brake pads, pop on a Quaife 1 way LSD (I drive on gravel roads with inclines for work) and motor cycle ITBs.
Love it. I started driving in the 90s. You guys are taking me back to those Max Power days. One of these days hopefully you can find a Dimma Clio, that for me was the coolest looking hot hatch in a magazine.
Im stoked for this series! As an American, I’ve never even seen one of these cars in person, but I still get it completely. I’ve got an 02 Saab 93 I bought for $200 on a whim, replaced the neutral safety switch and put 20k miles on it in the last two years. I’m excited to see what a 2.0L Saab motor can do. (I need coil overs though, send me a link)
The first car I ever bought and modified was a Corsa B 1.4 8v. I think I bought it around 2000 and swapped Astra Gsi front disks and callipers, Astra 15” alloys, Astra gte digital dash, Astra gte steering wheel, lowering springs and gas dampers, a 3” cat back stainless exhaust, I stripped out the rear seats and switched the front seats out for 2 sparco fixed buckets. That model didn’t come with power steering, but it was light enough that it didn’t really matter. I learned SO much in that care, including what brake fade is. I set country road point to point time records that I have never beaten. How I am still alive I will never know. Easily the most fun car I have ever had.
Great vid chaps, bring back a lot of memories. I had a Starlet GT Turbo import with an HKS dump valve which had an addictive clinky whistling noise. Slightly resent the council estate comment, I always thought the chavs were driving Vauxhalls and Fords but I did end up at Santa Pod with the owners club once so maybe you're right 😂 For younger viewers, this was the era when everyone owned their cars having saved money for them, so the only people driving the high bhp machines were well into their 40s.
You are absolutely nailing the content now. Definitely the best car channel in the 'verse, and the podcast format is perfect too, absolutely loving everything you're putting out
Love turbo starlets, got to drive an uncle's stock EP82 in my twenties, it was an automnatic and fuck was it fun. Twenty years on i still havent found a good one i can afford. This video brought me back to my youth of 4G63 swapped Protons with all that turbo flutter. Thanks lads.
Oh my, I felt shivers on my skin multiple times on this video! To say I love these two cars is an understatement. Lads, you scored. Cheers from snowy Finland and keep this series rockin!!! 🤘🏼
This episode has brought back so many memorise for me. The first car I ever brought and modified was a L plate corsa b. I’m now 35 driving sensible (boring) modern day cars. Older cars are so much better than today’s rubbish.
i used to have the normal top of the line Starlet 1.3, and that car was no slouch to begin with. But with over a 100HP more, it's a rocket xD couldn't help but smile from ear to ear seeing Ed drive the Starlet
Great video as always, Great guys and great meeting you when filming the unveil. For me this is Max Power (Corsa) vs Gran Turismo (Starlet), cars from my era. Love Em.
All that shape of Starlet had the same engine in the UK, the older ones had different engine sizes, but all the ep90s here were 4efe engines. With around 80bhp. From what I can remember the SR was purely a cosmetic upgrade getting the wheels, spoiler and exhaust and stickers. They're not that fast but its an awesome engine, I've never driven a turbo'd one, but I've had 3 4efes and I couldn't manage to kill one. And I'm particularly bad at remembering to top up oil despite redlining everyone (I was still a teen when I got my first one), or tighten aux belts before they snap off and force me to drive ten miles home with no alternator or water pump. Being rear ended was the closest I got to really damaging one and that still drove onto the flatbed.
I’ve wanted a Starlet since I was 5 years old thanks to Gran Turismo 4, 20 years on I’d still love to have one as a project car. It’s amazing to see you guys featuring it in a video
I love the comment section on these videos. Everyone is happy! Ha. Top work again guys, absolutely nailing another video and just what everyone was after. So, so looking forward to the upcoming series on these two.
As a Canadian watching your videos, it's so interesting to get these looks into different eras of UK car culture that's similar but mostly with different cars from what I'm familiar with
My first car was a starlet Sr and I still own it 17 years later! it's now engine swapped with a 1.6v 20v 4age on itb's making 182hp. Big love for the shit box nuggets!
Great to see everyone still about, yeah it was my daily from 2020 to 2024. Stuck nearly 40k on it in that time. Treated it to a gearbox rebuilt just after and now it's weekends and trackdays.
Massive nostalgia overload. Remember it being a chilly December, mates dads driveway, fitting some gmax lowering springs on my mates Corsa Gsi, Peco exhausts, swapping your tax disc in the RichBrook tax disc holder. Then off to Ripspeed to buy a Pioneer headunit with the Dolpin graphics.
I loved this! I passed my test in 93 and my dream car at the time was a Suzuki Swift GTi, which was way out of reach for a 17 yr old. Later on I dreamt of a Corsa GSi, sadly didn’t get one of those either. I did end up with a 94 Fiesta 1.6 Si, in Mallard Green. Loved that car and the seats were fantastic! Thanks for a great trip down memory lane! Oh, and Max Power magazine and Big Bore 4 exhausts, those were the days!
How am I just now seeing your channel for the first time? Subscribed. Also, Saab made some of the best sounding four cylinder engines ever. That Corsa is downright musical. Keep up the good work. I'll be watching your old videos for the remainder of the evening.
Ah the Clio Williams, I had one of those back in the day, such a great little car, to many people they didn't spot it was a Williams and were just left looking confused when they got dusted by a little clio at the traffic lights haha
Had a friend with a 90s astra, was a low spec model but with full GSI engine (with ITBs), running gear, suspension etc. Was genuinely a good fun little car
As the owner of a heavily modified Combo B van, that Corsa B is very familiar. It's in great condition too. For anyone wondering why it has a Saab engine, this was from the era where GM owned both brands, and all Saab models shared platforms with Vauxhall / Opel, so the B204 engine is one of the most powerful engines that will fit easily into the Corsa B engine bay. The famous Vauxhall Redtop is an obvious option too, but they are getting so rare and expensive now.
i can't tell you for how long i waited to see a corsa B on this channel, very glad it happened, right now i have an opel(or vauxhall it is the same thing) signum, but really have a soft spot for one of these corsas

I used to have an ep91 starlet, they are the best first car you can buy, they are reliable, super easy to work on, easy to modify with loads of mods avaliable and fun to drive and will get 60mpg around town
I’m in my mid 60’s and I’m sad when your videos end. As I’ve said before I don’t really like cars but you two good friends messing around with them is so much fun to watch!! “A croc with an engine “ Ha Ha!!
The Starlet is an unknown quantity to me as we never got it here in South Africa, but that particular shape Corsa I’m very familiar with. In the late 90 and early 2000’s they were hugely popular here. I’v driven just about every available derivative extensively and hold them in fairly high regard. Even the entry level 1300 with 58kW (77hp) was pretty quick, the range topping 75kW (100hp) 1600 was positively athletic! I can only imagine how mad 186kW (249hp) must be in this car! The chassis was never the sharpest, it’s extremely understeery but that can be mitigated with some serious suspension work. I’m guessing this will be the limiting factor for how much of the additional power can be effectively deployed. Two facts remains regardless, this little Corsa will be a huge bundle of fun, and this was a cracking video! Well done! Looking forward to the next instalment 😅
Blasts from the past right there. Had a few Metro GTi16v's with the 1.8 from an MGF fitted. Most powerful one I had was 160bhp and lightened/stripped out and that was scarily fast (830kg from memory).
I particularly enjoyed that with subtitles on the starlet was called the 'glands of e' which is a fairly good description of most starlet glanza v owners
Awesome vid as per usual! If I may make one suggestion....I'd LOVE to see the buying process if possible? Always loved hearing the phone calls with the sellers, road trips to go view them, finding funny faults etc. Just a minor suggestion!

I only intend to upgrade the front brake pads, pop on a Quaife 1 way LSD (I drive on gravel roads with inclines for work) and motor cycle ITBs.
18:13 That american accent was superb lmao sounds just like my midwestern accent
Checking in from Tennessee, that was my favorite part 😂
came here for this comment lol
Came to time stamp this exact comment 😂
11:40 joms & proxes *chefs kiss* the absolute pinnacle of budget tuning.
You guys are killing it, the content on this channel is 10/10
Love it. I started driving in the 90s. You guys are taking me back to those Max Power days. One of these days hopefully you can find a Dimma Clio, that for me was the coolest looking hot hatch in a magazine.
Pleasant surprise seeing a SAAB B204 in there.
Tbf the noises coming from that starlet were wicked 😎👍
the fuckin' eagle screech after the perfect American accent 😂
Can’t wait for the rest of this series! You guys have tuned into my favourite RUclipsrs very quickly since starting
That corsa with some suspension work and new tyres will be a serious bit of kit
Pocket Rocket 🚀
Great vid chaps, bring back a lot of memories.
I had a Starlet GT Turbo import with an HKS dump valve which had an addictive clinky whistling noise.
Slightly resent the council estate comment, I always thought the chavs were driving Vauxhalls and Fords but I did end up at Santa Pod with the owners club once so maybe you're right 😂
For younger viewers, this was the era when everyone owned their cars having saved money for them, so the only people driving the high bhp machines were well into their 40s.
Oh wow boys, you have absolutely nailed it! This sort of era and nostalgia is right on the money!!
2:54 “90’s Turbo Intensifies” 👌.
Oh my, I felt shivers on my skin multiple times on this video! To say I love these two cars is an understatement. Lads, you scored. Cheers from snowy Finland and keep this series rockin!!! 🤘🏼
The b204r engine is saab's greatest invention. RIP Saab
Well the B202, B204, and B234 are basically the same engine. They are superb engines despite their age.
Saabs are still alive and well 😊
@@dj_paultuk7052 true I had a 99 9-3 convertible with the HOT engine. Absolutely loved that car wish I could get it back :(
@supersaabclaire True I want another 9-3, minus the vacuum line issues and with a manual unlike my last one
This episode has brought back so many memorise for me. The first car I ever brought and modified was a L plate corsa b. I’m now 35 driving sensible (boring) modern day cars. Older cars are so much better than today’s rubbish.
Amen to that
Living my yobo dreams vicariously through you two😂
Really loving the content lads, keep it up.
i used to have the normal top of the line Starlet 1.3, and that car was no slouch to begin with. But with over a 100HP more, it's a rocket xD couldn't help but smile from ear to ear seeing Ed drive the Starlet
Holyyy shit, these take me back to begging my dad to take me to the local 'cruise' as a kid, unironically a Halfords car park (Guildford, iykyk).
Soo true, lots of fun to drive. Yes they do like to drink some oil 😅
youre right, all were 1.3. SR got TTE spoiler, backbox, rev gauge etc
Came here to say the same about engine sizes, I had 2 4efe starlets and even turbo’d one of them and still didn’t manage to kill them 😂
I’ve wanted a Starlet since I was 5 years old thanks to Gran Turismo 4, 20 years on I’d still love to have one as a project car. It’s amazing to see you guys featuring it in a video
Cracking episode guys.
Banging choice of cars ❤
Absolutely love the series, and everything you do. Would be so good to see your car searches and potential buys, and you going to buy them too!
1:02 haha i'm from the Netherlands and these kind of mods we also called halfords tuning hahah
I love the comment section on these videos. Everyone is happy! Ha.
Top work again guys, absolutely nailing another video and just what everyone was after. So, so looking forward to the upcoming series on these two.
I'm at 4:30 and all I keep thinking is "Will's bonnet. Will's bonnet is wonky. Please take the piss out of Will's bonnet"😂
The bonnet has been lifted at the back for better cooling and gives you a bit more room have to do it with the corsa c as well
it isnt fucked.previous owner lifted hood struts so the hood can close over the engine
Ooof, you messed up there mate!
It's so annoying though. 🤣
@@Grover91 well you can choose to drive a corsa with 70hp and normal hood or a corsa with 250hp and raised hood
Great video chaps, so nostalgic. Keep up the work. Will deffo be watching more of your videos
Loved my starlet, i had an ep82 running a td04 turbo with emanagemet was around 210bhp being so light it was awesome to drive
Morgey from the starletuk forums!
That's me!
Bloody hell man I loved your posts on there!
Cant believe you still have the sr 4age starlet, loved the build. Miss the starlet pages
Great to see everyone still about, yeah it was my daily from 2020 to 2024. Stuck nearly 40k on it in that time. Treated it to a gearbox rebuilt just after and now it's weekends and trackdays.
By far the best video you've done! I could watch videos like this all day long! It's my childhood! Top work lads.
Lets goooo in time for food
Massive nostalgia overload.
Remember it being a chilly December, mates dads driveway, fitting some gmax lowering springs on my mates Corsa Gsi, Peco exhausts, swapping your tax disc in the RichBrook tax disc holder. Then off to Ripspeed to buy a Pioneer headunit with the Dolpin graphics.
I love watching you guys. you're not screwing around with hyper cars, you're out there having fun with cheap, old cars.
Saab B204 LET'S GO BABYYYYYYY
How am I just now seeing your channel for the first time? Subscribed. Also, Saab made some of the best sounding four cylinder engines ever. That Corsa is downright musical. Keep up the good work. I'll be watching your old videos for the remainder of the evening.
Ah the Clio Williams, I had one of those back in the day, such a great little car, to many people they didn't spot it was a Williams and were just left looking confused when they got dusted by a little clio at the traffic lights haha
still own mine :D
I had a corsa b 1.0 with a c20xe in the engine bay. Most fun I've ever had in a car. Love to buy it back. Great episode guys.
First or something
That engine was plenty powerful in the Saab 900NG/9000! Absolute insanity to shoehorn it into a Corsa B, and I'm here for it! ❤
6:50 nice job whacking the music up when we're meant to listen to the car? wtf. There's way too much shitty background music in these videos
Absolutely loved this episode can’t wait to watch more ! Gutted I have to wait a week
Omg!!! Best episode so far! I’ve had 3 starlets still have a 4wd turbo ep95 starlet! Love them so much fun!
Had a friend with a 90s astra, was a low spec model but with full GSI engine (with ITBs), running gear, suspension etc. Was genuinely a good fun little car
This is THE best pair of cars you two have bought! I’m really looking forward to watching this series
what a way to start the new year off this series is gonna the best yet cheers boys!!!
I’m actually starting to falling in love with this channel hey the formula works. Very old school Top Gear meets tuner world.
Currently best channel.on you tube for the stuff I like to watch....who doesn't love an old 90s hot hatch?!
i can't tell you for how long i waited to see a corsa B on this channel, very glad it happened, right now i have an opel(or vauxhall it is the same thing) signum, but really have a soft spot for one of these corsas
I had a Corsa B cabriolet with a 270bhp B204 engine. Was a quick little car that's for sure, made me remember why I love the 90's era cars!
Honestly boys, this videos is just absolutely class. Smiles all the way through. The flutter is hilarious and especially in these little 90s hatches just makes it top class. Best content in the RUclips car world. This is what everyone wants to see, keep it up lads 👍👍👍
Two facts remains regardless,
this little Corsa will be a huge bundle of fun,
and this was a cracking video!
Well done!
Looking forward to the next instalment 😅
Back to the kind of videos that got me hooked on your channel 👌 really enjoyed watching this
Blasts from the past right there.
Honestly my favourite chanel on RUclips!!! Keep it coming boys!
I had an ep82 starlet with over 220bhp when I was 21, it punched way above its weight and made a few higher end cars at the time look rather tame
Awesome vid as per usual! If I may make one suggestion....I'd LOVE to see the buying process if possible? Always loved hearing the phone calls with the sellers, road trips to go view them, finding funny faults etc.
Just a minor suggestion!
this video was class the corsa b n the glanza just kept a smile on my face the whole way thru
THIS IS AMAZING.
its the shit we used to dream of in school, but weren't old enough or rich enough. the only people who had these kinds of cars were often in their late 20's picking up their 15 year old girlfriends up from the school gate.
different times the late 90's early 00's weren't they!?
