- See how to make a yoga bolster out of things we all have in our homes. The first option uses a pillow and the second uses bathroom towels.
With yoga classes moving online, it is great to have the equipment to try out all the different options being offered. Restorative yoga and yin yoga classes usually use bolsters for the supportive & relaxing qualities, Iyengar yoga uses bolsters to help get into yoga poses without injury.
Once you have tried yoga using a bolster you might never look back! Being able to start out using a home made option without the expense of purchase is a good way to start. If you then decide to purchase, I recommend looking at the following site, they have good quality, organic cotton bolsters:
www.stretchnow.com.au/organic...
I recommend going for a 70cm long one, rather than a short one. Bolsters have been in short supply, so your home made one may be in use for a while!
Bolsters are used in yoga in many different ways; in restorative yoga as a comfortable support, in iyengar yoga to assist with poses, in yoga nidra to support the legs, in other yoga classes as props and support.
Best wishes for an enjoyable and relaxing yoga practice with your home made bolster, whether at a live class or on-line!
