Thank you for this tutorial. I am just about to embark on making 2 bolsters to put on either side of our travel trailer bed. I am very grateful for the detailed explanation as to how to get an invisible zipper installed. I've been fretting this whole thing and your tutorial takes all the mystery out of the manufacturing of the bolsters. 👍👍💖💖
Thank you for the video. I was happy with the way the pillows came out. My material had a pattern so understanding what side the welt needed to go on took some thought. I enjoyed the video.

@@MimzyandCompany can you do a tutorial on disc pillows? I'd like to try one with a velvet fabric but also with a lighter weight fabric (almost like silk). Also, is foam or feather a better insert for all kinds of throw pillows?
@@carolinewelti2300 a disc pillow? Like a round flat pillow ? Typically with a button in the middle? I haven’t made one in years , but yes I can do a tutorial. I’m gonna start doing many videos more regular in the New Year. My preference is feather for sure.
Thank you! Very good question! I make all my pillow fillers a little bigger than the shell so the pillow is plump. So no, the filler I made for this I made 2” bigger on all dimensions.

@@joy9073 awe, thank you so much Joy! I haven’t posted a video in so long because I’ve been swamped with sewing work . I can wait to get back to making videos.
Thank you for your amazing tutorial videos! Love them! At this moment, I am making a bolster pillow and have a question that is stumping me! After sewing the cording on to the round ends, I measure around the circumference of the cording (or take the diameter x 3.14) for the body fabric to go around. BUT, now don't I need to add 1 inch to that total so I have enough fabric for a 1/2" turn under edge that each side of the hidden zipper attaches to?? If I just measure and cut the exact circumference, I won't have any to turn under for the zipper!! Though I see your 1/2" ironed edges before sewing the zipper, there's no mention of adding this 1" total to the fabric cut. What am I missing?? Thank you!
@@MimzyandCompany Thank you so much for your speedy reply. No worries at all. Your videos are so great! I see your ironed under edges and I was thinking "well, if I do that there won't be enough to go around". Thanks again! PS I also asked you my question on your Facebook page, so now you can ignore it!
Thank you for the tutorial on making the pillow cover my concern is if you use feathers it is too soft and then for cleaning purposes. I'm hoping you will address that issue. I understand you cannot wash down filled pillows.
Feathers are very soft and don't hold the shape really well. Foam will keep the shape better. I wash my down bed pillows a lot. You just have dry them really really well.
ha! I have been getting all my fabric recently at Boca Bargoons here in Tampa. It's now a closeout store so quantity's are limited but the prices are unbeatable. The entire store is $5 per yard. But generally I buy whatever is affordable at Joann, online fabric store.com, bigduckcanvas.com, mostly. Thank you!
That is a very good question! Bolster pillow fillers are hard to come by, and expensive when you do find them. I was recently looking for ready made bolster filler for my sofa and couldn’t find anything the right size. You might have to make it yourself like I did. 😩 if you find a source lemme know.
you said you make your own zipper so you cut the length you want. do you have to add the tab manually so you can open and close. perhaps could you show what the zipper looks like before you start.

I can't figure out how you pinned the zipper. Was it pinned to the folded-down seam allowance? Or to the raw edge of the fabric? This is my first zipper and I'm making quite a mess. My fabric is shredded and my fingers are bloody from sticking them with the seam ripper. =(
Bias! you can cut on the straight grain if you're in a pinch and don't have enough fabric for bias cut. But it doesnt work well because it doesn't go around curves neatly, it causes creases in the welt.

So if my fabric has no stretch do i still have to do on a bias, because it wont really matter as it a suede fabric
Yes. It’ll make a difference believe me.

if you want a 9" end, don't you need to add for a seam allowance? How did you allow for that seam allowance using a 9" plate? (Newbie here)
Yes, you do need a seam allowance. 1/2" or 5/8" whatever you typically use. I may have said something wrong in the video.
