Hi thanks for a great video. I hope I’m not being extremely dim here but I’m confused by your explanation for the zipper at around 6:35. You say you put the slider on then take it off at the other end, to leave the zipper fully closed. You then say you put it back on and slide it to the middle and that leaves you with no open ends, but doesn’t the act of putting it back on mean you split the zipper again? I have watched your other video about the zipper but it doesn’t seem to cover this point. I hope I can get my head around it as your way of doing it looks so neat. Thanks again.
@@maggiecraven9625 hi and thanks for watching. No it can be a bit confusing so don’t worry. The reason we do this be just to help when sewing everything together as the zip piece can be tricky to sew to the border and this helps hold it all together as one nice and tight. Once it’s all finished and you use the zip pull it opens back up again. It’s not completely necessary just a little something we do to make life easier and, we think, a little better finish as well. There are no hard and fast rules and people will do a lot of things different and once you’ve done a few you will find your own best way. Hope this makes sense?😄 Feel free to ask any more questions or email contact@premierupholstery.co.uk
@@premierupholstery-upholste90 Thank you so much for your helpful reply. I am going to just jump in and have a go, with the video on slow motion. I’ve managed to get the piping looking not too bad for first attempt so the zips will be inserted one way or another! Thanks again.
I love it. I'm about to make a neck roll pillow for Sis who has arthritis. I bought an already covered pillow from Jo-Ann Crafts, will do the measurements & cover w/really sweet nursing fabric. My zippers are not detachable so that will be a challenge. Any suggestions for that type of zipper job? Thanks! Sewing in 🇺🇸
Hi and thanks for watching. It will be a bit more tricky sewing it together with a closed end zip but you should be ok. It will probably be easier to pin it together so you can see how it will all sit and then go over with the sewing machine after. You need to keep it inside out and open the zip so you can run around from one end to the other and then across to the other side to do the same and meet up at the starting point. Feel free to email us if it helps contact@premierupholstery.co.uk
When you added the bolster insert - did you push the seams on the inside towards the circle ends or away and back towards the main body or /tube? Thank you and thanks for taking the time to make the video
Hi and thank you for taking the time to watch the video. We fold the back of the seams towards the main body as it gives the neatest finish. If you have them the other way they bunch up and look messy.

@@katgle2925 hi and thanks for watching. This was just some old Dacron that we rolled and glued up into the bolster shape. It would have been made a bit bigger than the finished size of the cushion to fill it out nicely.
Hi and thanks for watching. Yes it would be possible but would be slightly harder as you would need to either hand stitch it together and use another system like Velcro. Some sewing machines can get very close to close up cushions like cylinder arm machines but it would be cheaper to just use a zip or hand stitch than buy a new machine. Hope this helps 😄
Hello and thanks for watching. Yes we use a piping foot which you should be able to find online for your machine and we have used it for sunbrella and it worked perfectly.

Sorry just read your comment again and realised you didn’t want piping! 😅Just copy it as in the video and don’t put the piping on, it will work exactly the same but will just have the sewn seam in the ends instead of the piping detail
Hello and thanks for watching. Luckily we have some cardboard circle guides which we can use for this. It is possible to do it with a ruler and a pen/ chalk. Measure a square the same diameter as your circle and mark dead centre on the back, then slowly rotate the ruler around the centre making reference marks at the same measurement as the circle diameter every inch or so and eventually you can join the dots and will have a circle. Hope this helps.
@@Foodielover-648 thanks for watching and the feedback. Poly cushions are pretty much the cheapest option and as this was leftover it was free.
