Great to see another pro bodybuilder who does not promote bulking and over eating to build muscle. Small changes are all that’s needed. Small increases if not eating enough and small decreases to lose weight. Good job. Way too many people think u need to force feed and eat big to get big. 👍

that ideology started due to the entire protein synthesis/steroid cycling "method" where you will make more gains if you constantly eat and get in 2-3 grams of protein per pound of body weight.

Well it’s not a given actually and depends on the person. I would say more than halve of the people lifting need to eat way more to grow. They kicking the walls why they arent growing. It’s usually because they don’t eat enough

I've been training since.. 17, now about to hit 23. About 5 years in. I started ( luckily ) with free-weights, pullups, deadlifts, squats etc. Mistake I made was at the time I was focusing on powerlifting per say for the first year rather than go seperate body parts. At that time.. I was squatting and lifting more heavy than I did recently but caused to injury my right shoulder and knees, But they're not permanently fucked. Chiropracticy will help it and being without a gym for half a year now helped in recovery.
Here I thought I knew about my nutritions. Fuck all. Cheers man for bringing something new to me. I'll definetly keep your advise to heart. Thank you brother!

Great discussion James about the expectations and requirements of a person getting into bodybuilding... This is something I wanted you to do and I suggested it before and hope you continue this as an ongoing series... Really helps those who have been working out for years correct things they are not aware may be hindering them as well as gives the NEWBIE a platform to learn from an experienced athlete and even have their questions answered.
Discussion could have even been expanded even more into bodybuilding for the beginners... be the beginner a young person (teenager) or an adult new to training .
Many are too gung ho when they arrive at the gym... yes it can be exciting knowing you're moving toward your goals, even if you are just signing up for the first time..... but here is where a person has to have a PLAN early on to achieve that goal a step at a time. ... I wish now I had a plan and goal as I only wanted to lift weights and look like the bodybuilders I admired and saw in magazines... that thinking came with injuries, tendinitis, exhaustion, slowed/no growth etc... Oh No!!
As you mentioned James, no need to start shoveling food down their throats as the Pro Bodybuilders do, but instead they should just start out eating better, as we know teenagers and early 20 yr olds consume too much unhealthy food, so switching to food more nutritionally balanced for a healthy & bodybuilding life style is likely all that is needed until their progress warrants more.
The same for the adult, shift away from "meals on the run (that are nutritionally deficient)" to solid meals that satisfy/satiate and supply Macro and Micro nutrients.
I remember my first time in the gym having NO CLUE WHAT I WAS DOING, so having some sort of a program to follow and a progress chart/notebook would/will be a great way to make sure the new "gym rat" is doing enough and not too much of each exercise for each body part. The charts also help in keeping a new person from being overwhelmed in the gym from the many machines/weights and forgetting exactly what they are in the gym to do... Went in to do arms and soon found themselves doing arms, legs, chest and just about everything else lol.... Focus on a muscle group and stick to it.
What should a person expect during that first year of training???... Not a lot as your body has to adjust to the new stress, weight training, diet/food/nutrition, metabolism etc... I will say get ready to deal with SORENESS above all things....Ha Ha HaHa...Don't let it deter you. It's a good sign though..
Your body is marvelously EFFICIENT as James said, so it won't be until it realizes the efficiency level it is working at is NOT ENOUGH to handle the intensifying weight training it is having to endure multiple times per week, so it increases muscle mass and cardiovascular strength to adjust, until that becomes insufficient... and more mass/strength/cardio is increased again and again until you reach your desired goal...
Definitely keep this going James... Maybe you can in time expound on dealing with:
    - INJURIES (How to deal with them, latest medical interventions for serious matters)
    - STRETCHING (its point, purpose, stretching routine, importance in bodybuilding/ers etc)
    - NUTRITION EATING (Eating for bodybuilding VS Normal eating, Nutrients effect on body/bodybuilding/Vitamin Mineral deficiency and effects)

Great talk! I just healed up after a surgery and back to working out. Good pointers for starting back up, nutritionally and physically.
I noticed that sugar wasn't mentioned in the nutritional part of the talk. Would love to hear body builder perspectives on sugar that's in most people's diets these days in a later video! Or even all the extra synthetic ingredients in food these days, how it affects the body builder journey.
Cool channel here. I'll be listening in more 👍

Thank you for your time it's nice for someone in your profession actually talk about or want to help newer people understand. Most guys of size at the gym act like its a taboo to answer questions or help with any information. And starting out it kind of pushes you away from it specially if your not sure how to go about it. We all understand it's hard work but still no one has to be a dick. So thank you sir for being a humble and accomplished inspiration for the sport.

He touched on the one thing that no one cares about on the internet. They talk about heavy lifting, they talk about calorie intake, and last but not least. They love to talk about drugs. But the one thing that they dont talk about is rest and recovery. The number one rule in putting muscle on is recovery and rest. Nothing you take or do won't work without that. And its the one thing you cant fake. You cant get it in a syringe and you cant buy it at a health food store. Its a process that the human body has to go through when taking in nutrition and exercise. Without that nothing will stick .And it should be the first thing that should be taught when getting into bodybuilding. It belongs right up there with nutrition. Unfortunately its not something you can make money off so its not addressed. you cant sell it over the internet .

18:20 Let me help you here. You're touching on something alot of people don't take into consideration when you talk about "You're gonna feel the difficulty because you wouldn't have recovered from the previous training session." is the nervous stress that takes longer to recover than soft tissue stress. Such as legs and back, the CNS (Central Nervous System) needs to recover from the high stresses. When you overload the Nervous System, and it cant recover, you get injuries and lack of focus...
But your information is spot on and most definitely applicable to amateurs and pros....

My guess for sprinkling salt on your food is because, if you are drinking 4-6 liters of water per day, you can become hyponatremic (low sodium level in the blood/body). Some symptoms you may notice if you are hyponatremic are nausea, headache, confusion, and fatigue. So this is probably why it is recommended (at least in this video) that you sprinkle salt in order to counteract the high consumption of water.

Corona virus makes going to a gym either impossible or very inconsistent. 2: how much time should you be spending in the gym when you workout? (i know that this can be subjective, but i would still like to hear your thoughts)
