I’m 19 myself and I was close to take steroids not too long ago. I already informed myself about what to take and already looked at studies and even had them in my shopping card at one point. Social media is not so much the problem that it influences me directly, it’s much more the people around me who think you have to be 220 pounds lean and jacked. I’m much more confident taking my shirt off but people saying “you skinny” or “this and that guy is so much bigger and better then you” really hurt when you hear it too often cause I’m really giving my best.
Why am I not on gear now?
It’s because of people like you who do videos like that and because of my ex bf who always complemented me for my physique and also another boi a few days ago who liked how I look and said I’m “hot”. It’s people like you and them that always get me back on track so thank you, really

@@juliusfahlbusch3168 The way social media feeds are engineered, will often target your insecurities. The way we consume media is often negative focused, or basically risk aversion. Rather than viewing positive things, you're more likely to view things you AREN'T or that you can't achieve etc. You're slowely feeding yourself unrealistic goals and over times your views get warped. It's never a quick process and usually takes a bit of time, but it's insanely effective and it's why social media can be so ridiculousely lucrative.
Especially impressionable teenagers, they are already insecure in who they are, they're trying to find themselves in the world, so they're really easy to convince. Sometimes for monetary reasons. When you’re jacked, you’ll more likely gain more followers on social media. More people are gonna buy your workout programs. You’ll have a better chance of getting a sponsor like gymshark and some supplement brand.
And like it or not, being jacked means that you’ll be perceived as having more credibility when it comes to fitness and exercise. Who do you think more people would listen to for fitness advice? A skinnyfat natty who has a PhD in sports science, or a jacked dude with 3d delts and an 8 pack abs?

    Another great video!
I’m a 35 year old female and I never considered taking steroids, but when I was in my teens and early twenties I suffered pretty hard from an eat dis. (Not sure if I can say the whole thing without getting flagged?) and thought very often about taking diet pills. But thankfully I was able to realize that I didn’t want to deal with side effects then or for my future self just to be skinny. And the real B of the thing is looking back at pictures of myself then when I was really suffering with my ED and having my mindset that I do now, I was actually skinny! I just needed to weight train and I know it would have helped my mental health tremendously!
We didn’t have social media as intensely as we do now when I was really suffering, but we had magazines and shows and movies. Especially the 90s and early 2000s super skinny appeal. So I can definitely see the appeal some of these young guys and gals are dealing with.
It does make me sad to hear how young they are and they’re willing to shave some time off of their lives just to look bigger/more muscular. Especially the one kid who is about 21 and he said he would be good checking out by 70. I hope that as he ages his mindset shifts because as you get older, 70 really isn’t THAT old. I don’t have children of my own, but my 15 year old niece is basically like my daughter and I want to be around as long as humanly possible to spend as much time with her as I can, and as she gets older if she has a family of her own I want to spend time with them. Being healthy is the main goal for me now. I no longer have the desire to be “skinny” like I did during my ED time, but now I want to be strong and healthy. I want to be able to continue to care for my grandparents who are 93 and 88 and be able to lift them when needed (like I almost had to do with my grandmother the other day when she fell), help with things for my parents and mother-in-law. And be as active as I can be with my 15 year old niece running around like she likes to do. I want to be able to keep up!
I hope the ones that don’t want to take steroids because of the side effects continue to not want to take them, and I hope the ones considering taking them or are already taking them reconsider. 🖤

As an advanced lifter you have to be really in tune with your body to know when to change things up here and there to keep making small gains over time as it feels like you are navigating your way carefully around plateau after plateau.

I have been working out for more than 10years and to me is not only about getting bigger. Its a mix between bodyfat % and that pump feeling after workout. People want to keep that feeling permanent. In fact many people when asked they like what they see in the mirror after a heavy workout. If they just could have that feeling forever they'll be happy.
I believe have achieved my max potential regarding muscle gains. To manage that I had to forced myself to eat loads of food so I can keep up and as expected you also gain some fat. The biggest problem (in my opinion) of being natural is having to deal with this balance of trying to max out the muscle gains and not gain much fat. Having time to balance your social life + professional and still hit the gymn to max muscle gains and cut the body fat is just an exausting process. You get tired of this routine after these many years.
When i was 22 I used to weight 71kg. After all these years working out (allways natural - protein & creatine are best friends) my regular weight sits now between 84-86kg and with 14/15% bodyfat. And let me tell you, when I finish my workouts I look into the mirror and it feels like i'm on steroids. The problem is, only lasts 20min hahahah
The point is,you get tired of the routine, sudenly you also ahve other responsibilities and other things you like to do as well and can longer dedicate that much time to min max to cut all the fat down to single digits % and thats where steroids come to play. You start wondering "I'm super happy with 85kg and this muscle mass I have at the moment but I just dont have time, patiente (cuz just been doing it over 10years) and time (cuz family, friends ,work and other fun activies you like to dedicate yourself) maybe if i just take a small dose of testosterone or something, then I will be able to shave of 2-4% my normal body fat".
And this is the tricky part. I personally dont believe people want to take steroids because they want to be HUGE. Many of them are already happy with their muscle gains but for several reasons they can't cut their bodyfat down to single digits. Then you log on social media and all these "influencers" are freaking lean as a god can be! They all have single digit bodyfat and of course they post images and videos with their muscles pumped from the workout to maximize the ideia of being big and lean.

21 year old trained for 1 year natural, starts doing steroids, "i don't mind taking a bit off my life, rather be strong and get to 70, than 90 and decrepit". Bro if you take for 70 years you're not going to get close to that age, and if not, then you're not trading strength for age, as when you stop, you're not really stronger when your hormones do not help you anymore. It's crazy that so many steroid users rationalize because they imagine they are gonna live for 100 years without, and steroids will only take a couple of "bad" years off in the end of their life, bro that's not how it works, getting a blood clot in the brain at 27, dying from liver or kidney failure at 32, or getting a massive heart attack at 44 is not anything like you imagine now is it? Waking up from a coma at 34 to live the rest of your life as a vegetable with major brain damage is not like this..

I've just turned 30 and I've been training since my early 20's and I'm so glad I stuck it out as a natural lifter/athlete. I get compliments all the time about the way I look and I feel amazing.
If you're dedicated and start training young enough you can achieve an impressive physique naturally. Also a physique that is a lot more attractive to the majority of people than if you were on steroids. Nothing in life should be a quick fix solution, be patient, stay consistent, listen to your body and consider your long term health.
Love yourself first then enjoy the love from others.
