I'd always be sure to be out by 5pm, or get there after 7pm cos that's when the douches show up. They'd work out in packs of 6+ and stand around while they'd (one at a time) do one rep on a barbell that was way too heavy, grunt, drop it and chicken strut around the room. But if I was there at the Douching Hour, at least it was entertaining.
@@BigJonB36 Sadly dude, that's not even far from something you might overhear. I also see that people with horrible attitudes and a sense of entitlement leave 1 star reviews because they harassed the employees and got in trouble. Especially at restaurants.
@@fungustheclown666yes exactly. This video is super weird because the reviews COULD be 100% false and probably made by a super aggressive and annoying person.
Ok, but I don't really need gym staff to do much but watch me check in. As long as they don't call me Fatty as I do that, I think we're cool
@@BigJonB36 Sadly dude, that's not even far from something you might overhear. I've heard all manner of inappropriate shit being said about members by giggling front desk employees, sadly sometimes even trainers.
Or you're trying to get checked in and you have to repeat yourself 5 times to them while they stare at their phone before they actually pick their head up, "huh? What's up dude? uhhh?"
Or worse case scenario, you've got weird membership issues and because you come in to workout at 6pm, and sales leaves at 5pm, you literally never encounter someone who can help you. Then you come in next week and get told your membership is innactive and you're charged a fee for missing a membership payment. (things that happen surprisingly often)
That last gym was actually pretty freaking awesome, super cool equipment and that dude you met there was for sure a hardcore Jiujitsu brother lol

The problem with temperature and a lot of electrical/HVAC conditions is usually for old renovated buildings are way too expensive to redo a the ductwork and replacing motors, condensers, heaters, air handlers etc. plus running copper lines anywhere in old buildings is a nightmare. I always take stuff like that with a grain of salt. People have a reason for why they do what they do
The last gym is an introverts dream

The thing about 1 star reviews is in most cases they are based on truth, even if they are embellished in the heat of the moment. A majority of ppl will not go through the trouble of putting a review unless something sparked that fire.
Or it could be true completely and the gym could've fired a few staff members and now it's operating well. Or maybe he's just famous and they chose to be nice. Or maybe the staff had a bad day when that lady made the review. Or maybe they are more likely to be nice to him because he is jacked and not so many gym goers look or are super strong... Just because he has a good experience doesn't discount the reviews .. there's literally so many factors and he seems to just ignore them
People only leave reviews if they are really good or really bad. Normal people wonf leave them

The first gym might have actually had some of those problems until the owner or manager saw those reviews.
You forgot to put a disclaimer *sponsored by 1star rated gyms*
I thought the same. Glad it wasnt just me.
Also. "AC is set to 80" Manager sets to 70 for like.. half an hour while this chump is in there. Why the fuck am I even here. How did YT bring me here of all things I would want to watch.

@@MattDobson1991brother used “chump”. Yeah you’re cooked.
@dobby240 good point why tf am I watching this
@@MattDobson1991 that's not how commercial ACs work. If it was really 80, it would take probably an hour for it to go down to 70. HVAC systems set to 80 blow HOT air, and cold air to bring it down a whole 10 degrees. There's NO WAY *NOT* to feel that happening.
I go to a small, smelly, with old and new machines gym. The staff is nice, the people exercising are friendly, the posters on the walls remember the 80´s and 90´s. I love it.
18:57 To be fair, Laura's complant was legit: it's not accessible to anyone who can't do multiple flights of stairs. There are people with lower body mobility issues who want to get shredded up top, and maybe even improve their lower body to eventually be able to do stairs, if possible.
He was on an elevator. So they do have access. Some people just donr want to look i guess
@@zoommiesbay He rides an elevator at the first gym, not the one where the accessibility complained about in the review.

Essentially the first gym took the feedback and improved the experience of their facilities, that signals good management!
00:10 that is true. i really worry about the majority of reviewers mental health just by looking at all the typos, weird sentence structures and generally bad reviews that have nothing to do with the products.
When people writing a review on something, I don't think they would really care about grammar, spelling, typing etc, They just mainly care about their complaint and doesn't care of how they write their review, especially if it's really good or a really bad experience, they would go out of their way to type that review in and won't care about nothing else
Last gym had some mysterious vibe to it for sure

I go to a privately owned gym and the equipment definitely has alot of love lol. Theres no real heat or ventilation but they do have an industrial fan as well as few others scattered around and if desired you can open the garage door for natural light and fresh air. I enjoy the freedom of being (mostly) alone to do my thing and the condition doesn't bother me so long as its still usable.
yeah but what's that monthly and yearly fee?

Its a difference if the gym in general has one star or if it has five stars and some one star reviews…
Man, I would love for you to continue doing these as a full-time series. I loved it!! Striaton 6 looks pretty cool with some of that equipment. Good mix.
I hope this becomes a series, a lot of us don't get to explore new gyms like this and tackling it through the perspective of a 1 star review is very neat

Initially I was put off by Striation's backrooms-esque entrance but boy did the place grow on me the more I watched. There's a very cool, friendly ambience and the machines seem really awesome. I'd like to see more of those everywhere. I low-key loved that moody black room.
As someone who has predominantly done all his lifting throughout his life (lifting for 30+ years) in small/home gyms, the complaints about the quality of equipment at some of these places crack me up. Unless it's at risk of injuring you, less bitching more lifting.

a bit dystopian in the beginning. I’m paused at 2:31 and I can’t tell if that desk review was genuine or sarcasm. It was immediately disqualified as soon as the first person made known that they know and watch you
It was genuine, but I don’t blame him. They were definitely being respectful to him, but at the same time he definitely should’ve looked back at that clip and realized that they only respected him because of how popular he is.
16:15 right when he said “a strobe light to test focus” the sun strobed behind him lmaooooo
What is interesting, and this could be a thing, is the gym saw those 1 stars and fixed some of the issues. The good ones would of at least, so the ones you found that were decent to good probably did that, the ones that were indeed bad, were ones that didnt.
