      Agree. Time of day is so different. I use my local YMCA at 5am, and it’s a really great vibe. Usually the exact same group of people getting it done in the gym, friendly and supportive. Nice community vibe. If I accidentally go in the afternoon when schools out, it’s a bunch of fuckboy highscoolers being fuckboy high schoolers, which is annoying at best. And you get all the aggressive basketball games going on, all yelling at eachother and sometimes fights breaking out. It’s a totally different scene to say the least. And lock your shit up in the afternoon. That’s when your stuff gets stolen. Early AM is no risk for theft

    • @joeyw4531
      @joeyw4531 10 месяцев назад +92

      @@kaylum983 There's several reasons "why". If you try to use power with freeweights or weight stacks, you''ll exert force the first portion off the rep and make the weights fly up the rest of the way. With air pressure there is no momentum, so you'll have to apply force through the entire range of motion.
      Then there's also the ease of adjusting weights, which makes it possible to instantly transition between resistances between reps.

    • @bajszosjozsef4850
      @bajszosjozsef4850 3 месяца назад +2

      My local gym is an underground one and it CAN be really cool....if AC works properly. We were dying in the gym in the summer, despite the fact that it's in a cellar as I mentioned before. Cellars are naturally colder than over ground facilities, but the AC just couldn't keep up with all the humid that came from people working out there. Also, they have a habit for neglecting broken machines for weeks. And not cleaning the AC properly. And not fixing the walls for MONTHS after a water pipe leak. I'm dead serious, some sections of the gym wall had black mold for months until it was removed and repainted. It is totally automated, "smart gym" with no gym staff, so when I called them to tell them one of the machines is broken, the lady on the other end thanked me for notifying and said "it will be fixed during the next maintenance window". Next maintenance window happened after 2 weeks or so, lol. And there are also cases when the gym radio just dies. My gym partner called them and he was told that they'll turn it back on. They didn't XD (This happened multiple times btw) If you've never been to a dead silent gym before, let me tell you it's really weird and awkward. Just hearing everyone sigh, growl, the clunking of the weights, etc. It's really funny, in a bad way. If it wasn't the only 24/7 gym in my town, I'd never go back. But it is. And it is also the cheapest, lol. (Well, cheapness comes at a cost as it seems)

    22:05 that's an injectable resin they put into concrete to fix leaks. What they generally do is drill holes closest to where the leak is seeping through the wall and they just shove pump that shit into the hole until they cant anymore. Then you wait to see if it leaks somewhere else and you rinse and repeat. Considering this gym had reviews of leaks it makes sense you see this. Injecting resin into concrete is EXTREMLY expensive too and pretty much the only way to fix concrete water leaks unless you fix the source of the leak which can be much more complicated than you could ever imagine.

      I'd always be sure to be out by 5pm, or get there after 7pm cos that's when the douches show up. They'd work out in packs of 6+ and stand around while they'd (one at a time) do one rep on a barbell that was way too heavy, grunt, drop it and chicken strut around the room. But if I was there at the Douching Hour, at least it was entertaining.

      Or you're trying to get checked in and you have to repeat yourself 5 times to them while they stare at their phone before they actually pick their head up, "huh? What's up dude? uhhh?"
      Or worse case scenario, you've got weird membership issues and because you come in to workout at 6pm, and sales leaves at 5pm, you literally never encounter someone who can help you. Then you come in next week and get told your membership is innactive and you're charged a fee for missing a membership payment. (things that happen surprisingly often)

    What is interesting, and this could be a thing, is the gym saw those 1 stars and fixed some of the issues. The good ones would of at least, so the ones you found that were decent to good probably did that, the ones that were indeed bad, were ones that didnt.

    Those pneumatic machines were popular in the 80s/early 90s as some kind of safer alternative to weights.
