Edit: relax, this is why I don't leave comments
But he wasn't buying a lime.
Whole food means it has No ingredients list.
If it has salt and pepper it's not a whole food.
You could add your own pepper or salt. But if it's in the package it's not A whole food, it's multiple foods
Manufactured citric acid is not the same as that from a citrus fruit. The citric acid commonly found in most foods is from corn mold.
@@thehighlandhomestead190 chemixtry doesnt care where things come from. If its called citric acid, it has the same chemical structure, even the same elecron structure, as all other molecules named citric acid. At best, you could argue that the lime has more molecules alongside the citric acid.

I live in Sardinia, a blue zone. We don"t eat just 1 ingredient things! But yes, our diet is traditionally pretty simple (and sooo cheap): bread, or biscuits and milk in the morning, pasta for lunch (yes, almost everyday) with veggies and some kind of protein, we snack with yogurt, fruit, Or some bread, and for dinner mostly veggies, rice, pasta (😂) and legumes or meat/fish. And a LOT of raw extra virgin olive oil.
Avocado is even better than extra vergine olive oil

I nostri centenari di oggi non erano certo abituati a mangiare tutti i giorni biscotti a colazione e pasta a pranzo.
If i eat lots of rice, pasta and bread I get so fat and unhealthy so confused why are you healthy by eating all these carbs
i think they add stuff in Usa'n flour, that's why they hate gluten nowadays. though why doesn't he eat sugar or chilis? he wanted chilli sauce on the first day but chilli and oil, as a start?
Things like energy drinks, protein bars, pre-made frozen meals & pre-made snacks, any take-out, and drinks (sodas, juices, coffee drinks, etc) are all the no-no's of the highly processed foods.
But eggs are still a whole food even if you get the cheaper ones. Herbs & spices go a long way in making everything taste better--I eat plenty of hot sauce. Dried fruit is a great snack, and good addition to salads and home-made granola. Quality aged cheese is another great addition. Try Walmart's specialty cheese section for good prices on European aged cheddars.
Everything you were doing was great, but I would just add more! Like a light dessert (like dark chocolate) or fruit after dinner so you feel more satisfied.
Your headaches and low energy were likely from your blood sugar dipping if you're used to consuming more sugar & carbs. You would acclimate to that. Also make sure you're adding enough salt to your food so your blood pressure doesn't dip.

Snacks: popcorn you pop at home, roasted chickpeas (you just add seasoning and oil), carrots and Greek yogurt with ranch seasoning, air fry some sweet potatoes or potatoes for fries, cottage cheese, clementines. I feel like those are pretty natural/minimally processed snacks.
Edit: some gas stations carry hard boiled eggs! Those are a lifesaver for me on trips. That and cheese sticks. (Might not be “clean” enough for this experiment.)
Thank you, I felt like he was overreacting with the snacks while shopping.
also: yoghurt with various berries (honey and jam are also fine if you need it sweeter), roasted apples filled with walnuts... some dates, you could fill them with nuts if you want to.

@@Sarah-gz4no I've never made hummus.. how easy is it? 😔

As a Turkish person from the Mediterranean side, I thought this wasn't a special kind of diet but rather the normal eating habits for most of the people -until I made German and American friends. For snacks I can suggest yoghurt, nuts and fruits. I avoid buying any pre made or packed food. I can't currently buy all organic stuff for budgeting reasons but I'll try to do that when I start working.

A good quick whole food snack is popcorn! Just buy the single-ingredient un-popped kernels, throw ~2 tbsp in a large bowl with a small amount of oil, cover and microwave until popped. Add your choice of toppings (salt, cayenne, pepper, nutritional yeast, etc). Unprocessed popcorn is pretty healthy: whole food, 100% whole grain, high fiber, high volume, low calorie.
separately, the "blue zone" diets typically have very little red meat with small amounts of dairy, eggs, and fish. They get protein more by mixing beans with grains. Of course, Will's diet test still fits as a healthy whole-food option, just not so much a "blue zone" diet.
Olive oil, salt and nutritional yeast is the absolute best combo for popcorn I’ve been eating it for 15 years and still not tired of it!

But maltodextrin is the naturally occurring sugar in grains and citric acid is the acid that makes citrus fruit sour… so yes they did grow on trees?
*thats the joke*
Yes however in a lot of packaged snacks both of them are often man made (especially citric acid). Maltodextrin requires the starches to be cooked then adding acid or enzymes. So technically not “natural”
@@WillTennyson First i had to worry about me staying natural, now i have to worry about my maltodextrin and citric acid being natural
@@WillTennyson That feels like such a weird distinction to make. Like is cooked ground beef now no longer "natural" because the Maillard reaction occurred? Is that chemistry ok even though it's man made and not naturally occurring in the wild? I think it's important to understand the fundamentals of how things are produced and not act like chemistry is black magic turning something into another thing. Would especially recommend pecans and medjool dates together. Just open up a date and shove some pecans in, its super tasty! you can even cover them in dark, salted chocolate and freeze them for a really delicious snack - the sugars in the dates won't let it freeze properly so they end up sticky and chewy in an amazing way
Hey will, I studied nutrition and have a BSc in nutrition from a top Canadian university and I gotta say, the changes you saw are so on point. The skin and mood/satiety you felt aligns with that the science points to. The headaches were definitely withdrawals from supplements or caffeine. I however think that yogurt and cheese, etc, are also very natural and part of a well balanced diet. You nailed it on the head with reference to increased fiber and fat tho. In sports nutrition they made an analogy; the fat is the candle and the wick is the carbs….you need fat with carbs to maintain exertion. Of course the protein is important but if you have the infrastructure without the means, doesn’t matter. Great video
I doubt he is having plain greek yogurt which would be the healthiest form of yogurt.
@@alexandermacneil4430yogurt even the plain ones are high in sugar tho there’s like 8g per serving
Nobody needs gut damaging undigestable fiber ever. Nor do you need carbs. There is no pathway on a cellular level necessitating either. Carbs turn into glucose that causes inflammation, obesity, insulin resistance, etc.
@@Samzo2002turn the yogurt around. You can see some don’t.
@@Samzo2002 The plain Greek yogurt I buy has 6 grams of carbs per 175g serving. I don't mind that amount...especially since I eat it some eggs before I consume it and I add some berries so I can hit 15 grams of carbs an hour before my workout at the gym! Carbs are not the enemy overall. The dose makes the poison. Make sure you're active after consuming a fair amount of carbs in a meal.
Omg, I loved this one. If you made several videos like this I would watch them all! Really liked your vibe. And I totally agree with adding whole milk and yogurt, I'm really happy when I see someone trying foods like this and seeing how tasty they are, and best of all feeling really good!☺️✨

The transition at “what’s a bukkake” is so perfect
I love the cuts before marital arguments, hilarious.
The experience of walking down an entire aisle of the grocery store where you can't eat any of it is so relatable. I have a histamine thing that really limits what I can have. The biggest offender is that I am reactive to sunflower and safflower oil, which are in *everything*. Anyway, I just wanted to reinforce that it's an absolute reality for some people to just not even look at a lot of food in the grocery store for all kinds of reasons.
I have a cousin, who I don't really know but have friended on facebook, and she's very allergic to corn! I can't imagine how horrible it must be to have allergies towards really common food ingredients.
Yep, those seed oils are highly inflammatory poison. Just eat whole foods and you'll have nothing to worry about. Stop buying junk loaded with all kinds of bs ingredients. Eat natural and increase your red meat intake. Raw milk would help massively as well.
It's all about social class really. I see those supermarket lines of products, I just think it's cattle food and I don't belong to the cattle class.
There is a reason the poor are fat and the affluent are slim.
We walk the same streets, but we live in two different cultures. Different food, different music, different stories.
I don't crave junk food, nor do I crave pop music and blockbuster movies. All those feel boring, reptilian brain pleasure instead of neocortex subtle mixtures of sensations.
I genuinely consider people who mostly consume junk food, pop music and blockbuster movies to be barely human. And I'm not the only one like that, that's how we got the coming apart in all the West in the last few decades.
People are so uneducated when it comes to food too. Where I live, they sell these snack dates with flavorings and hydrogenated seed oils, and people think they're healthy just because there's no added sugar.
Same. I am allergic to nuts, some seeds (like almonds), almost every fruit (including avocados) and cant process pork. So looking at the ingredients has become pretty normal for me. Its crazy how many foods can contain nuts although they are not in the actual product, but it can cause allergies 😂
I couldn’t pin down why I like your content so much. Many reasons. One of them, You’re like the only gym content comedian. No one making workout style videos is even close to dropping so many comedic lines in their videos. You’re legit funny! I could see like a 30 minute comedy special just revolving around gym stuff. I hope this is not understood as you’re a clown - what i mean is there is so many avenues to take when you’ve got as much charisma as you do

This actually works also the other way around.
By knowing how little of a food is actually 100cals, if you are in a constant weight, but, want to slowly loose some, perhaps you are already eating a daily muffin for breakfast which you do not want to cut out, you can cut it in half, divide it for 2 days, by not changing anything else, that could already be a 100-200cal deficit (if you do not substitute it for something else that is...)
Made me happy in a way to see someone else struggles from the same skin problems at the gym always so insecure about it. Thank you man always making amazing videos.
This video was super interesting. I've seen so many videos about Blue Zones lately from channels like Yes Theory or other travel channels and it's so cool to see a fitness youtuber make content about it. It's much more interesting in my opinion to see how it would feel to be them than just watching someone document their lifestyle. I think this is a really good example of full versus satisfied. It's great to eat whole ingredients, it's great to be cognizant of what's going in our bodies but additives and processing aren't always inherently bad. Enjoying what you're eating is important too.
It's all about balance. Eat most of your calories from whole foods and then treat yourself to man-made food marvels/franken-food on the side. The dose makes the poison. Do all this and keep an active lifestyle and try to cut down or deal with stress in a positive healthy way and you're golden!
Love you! Will you do a comparison of eating grain free foods such as breads crackers that are higher in fat vs low calorie crackers etc like rice crackers that are maybe not clean?
For natural frosting: try cashew cream. It's just cashew nuts and water blended up, you could maybe add lemon but juicing it doesn't entirely count as a whole food. Like almond butter, it's like calorific, but is it natural and healthy? Yeah pretty much. I usually add a pinch of salt and some kind of spice.
Amazing video! Loved it! Maybe a follow up on it how you sustained some of these habits over a longer time of period! That would be awesome!
