    It would be interesting if we actually had things moving around. That would really throw you off. You'd keep getting distorted scans of things you end up phasing through. In fact, someone could exploit this, and throw things in the air that essentially make you blind again because of all of the scans just being a thick fog of lidar noise. Even better: mirrors. Someone could pretend to be your reflection, and you'd have to realise that something's off and send them astray so you can go to the other side. You could also reset your scans and do new scans, and switch between different scans you did to see what changed. Another fun thing: lidar interference. You could end up being seen as one metre west of where you actually are, and move around as though you're playing a third-person game in VR. And once you continue scanning, you'll get a double-image of everything. Actually, it could also have a constant offset, making the environment leave a lidar trail whenever you scan. Another useful thing there might be a temporal record of when every point was scanned, so you can know how long it's been since you scanned different parts. So many possibilities!

    I actually like the simplicity of this game, yeah its a little short but the way it has such a simple directive, mostly self propelled and interpreted, it adds to the horror aspect. You're left alone in the dark to your own devices and have to discover the threat(s) yourself is a very realistic take on a real life situation as opposed to a scripted movie/game. I'm only confused by the humanoid figures that trip you up paired with the multi-eyed gears, not sure what they're supposed to signify if there's even significance to them. Only thing I can think of is maybe the original biblical angels maybe? Or some type of evolved steampunk monster? Would love to know for sure.

    • @QuantumWaltz
      @QuantumWaltz Год назад +26

      I reckon a biblical angel fits the bill, though I agree with Manly that I'm not getting the sense of a major narrative, just some creative spoops with some self-driven storytelling. If I had to put it in context, the descriptions of angels found in the Bible are clearly stilted and lacking, it's a lot of simile and not a lot of concrete detail, which suggests that angels are just plain hard to look at because they don't 'fit' in our reality, not being native to Creation. Heck, one kind of angel just looks like amber-colored light, rather than having ANY kind of form.
      So in a game about navigating by collecting sight data, maybe collecting _too much_ data about the appearance of a biblical angel (one that doesn't preface its presence with a Fear Not - which means being afraid is the best and wisest option-!) is maddening at best and deadly at worst.
      Considering the subsequent concept that demons are fallen angels and thus look just like them, but instead of being Good and True (in the structural sense as well as the spiritual or literary sense) they are warped and corrupted, and therefore outright hostile - it _could_ be a demon.

    I was just watching the counter go up in the bottom right. Wondering how that would factor into the game, or if it would at any time matter.
    It's an interesting proof of concept type game, feels like more could be done too.

    It's mainly a Exploration game with horror features sparesly thrown into it.
    I higly recommend people try it. It's a really great game, sadly not at all long though.

Certainly a less spooky experience lol.
