a fun lesson i remember from first time playing DONT FUCK WITH THE TOWN CHICKEN NO MATTER HOW BADASS YOU ARE THOSE VILLAGERES WLL DIE TO AVENGE THE CHICKEN
jesse fernandez just don't ever *ever* fuck with the chickens if you want easy cheat/exploit loot you can look up whiterun and dawnstar hidden chests btw
jesse fernandez see to kill any livestock is considered a crime in the game. And whenever you commit a crime in a small village without guards the inhabitants take it apon them selves to dish out justice and sense some of them have quest importance they are immortal at times
This is the first thing I do the last few times I played Skyrim on my main computer - save up the 5K gold to buy that house in Whiterun. When I first played Skyrim the first time I thought it was fantastic you could put stuff in just about any container. A few in-game days pass by and everything I put in various world containers are gone forever. Talk about way beyond angry. Later I found out that the game does this automatically for memory purposes and keep the game stable too. The in-house containers never refresh so you can store presumably infinite number of items in them. So that's why I try to get a house asap... gotta put my hoard somewhere.
"I'm pretty sure that frost troll isn't avoidable." Oh, let me tell you a story of the young dragonborn that spent 45 minutes jumping and glitching up a mountain to go past a troll...
+Rob Slick I keep a maximum of 3 manual saves; just save over the oldest manual save once you have 3. This has served me well and it also keeps the saves to a max of 6. Since I always keep the very first save, which I manually do right after you get off of the cart before you choose your character, I have a max of 7 saves. Autosaves only keep a max of 3 as well, btw.
@CodingCrusader1095 Alternate Start?! That Mod is freakin' Amazing! Absolutely yes! As MxR Mods once said, "this mod leaves you to do WHATEVER THA F**K you wanna do!"
@@mrexists5400 just make a save at after you climb down before you enter character creation.. you have to go through the whole dragon attack execution but skip the wagon ride
1. Always kill Nazeem, like just always do it. 2. The chickens are considered holy, and everyone will brutally slaughter you if they catch you killing one of this damn chickens 3. Lol, I feel stupid for saying this one, but I will anyways, don’t fall for Brynjolf, that a-hole isn’t an npc u can marry, so srsly, resist his charms. I’m sure there’s several seasoned Skyrim players that’ll agree with me lol 4. There’s something wrong with Lydia, u can use her if you’d like, but there’s many other followers out there that are better options lol 5. Watch out for those giants, they’re prone to launching you to the stars
I'll be honest. I prefer fighting in 3rd person alot more than first person. It makes me much more aware of my surroundings allowing me to view all angles with perfect clarity. In first person view it's pretty easy to whiff your power attacks on moving targets especially one's of light builds such as thieves and Assassins but in 3rd person, performing a power attack on a moving target is more rewarding because of the ability to be able to track their movements if they move out of the way by simply moving the cam controls to their general direction. Lastly there's this violent shake I don't like in first person view when in combat. Sure I get it, it's helps with the immersion and immersion is flipping awesome, I can agree with that. But the shaking in 1st person Cam is way too violent when getting bashed, pulling off a power attack or getting stunned with a power attack
Agree. I only play in 3rd person so I can see everything around me without having to 360 everytime. The only time I first person is if I want to really examine something
First, you came because the title is misleading. The video isn't about things to know before a NEW game, but the FIRST game. Then, since you had already bitten the bait, you probably kept watching because you wanted: 1. to learn something new; 2. to compare your knowledge of the game to his; 3. to check if this guy was giving good advice to new players, so you could call him out if it wasn't. Also, because the video is very well made, obviously.
10. Join a faction 9. Use a companion whenever you can 8. Don't use 3rd person 7. Don't spend gold on equipment 6. Get married 5. Don't try to fight newly discovered difficult enemies unless you saved recently. Just run. 4. When mods are on, achievements are off. Don't mod for your first time playing. 3. Don't run a jack of all trades class. Stay committed to a specific play style 2. Crafting and enchanting are important. Don't ignore them. 1. Save often. Autosaves are few and far between.
Use the wall-plate glitch on the wardrobe in the tavern in riverwood. (Put a plate against a wall and sprint into it) do that to the dresser/wardrobe and open the back panel and you can get a blades sword, an orchish sword, lots of ingredients and a boat load of gold.
@@rage_2000 Fair enough, I just keep a follower on top of having something conjured. I play on Legendary so 9/10 if i let myself get surrounded i'm fucked either way. Moving front, back side to side, don't matter at that point.
@@prashikjadhav3954 🤣The Collage questline is a joke. You only "need" to cast magic in two specific quests, and both are low level spells. I don't even level Magika. I got in using a Magika boosting item to get past the entrance exam, then eventually enchanted four pieces of equipment with Cost Reduction to make specific spell types free to cast. My adventuring setup is usually Destruction/Restoration. *Without* the Unofficial Patch Mod, I use the Resto-Loop to get full reduction (for two types) on a single piece of equipment.
Every failed build morphs I to s sneaky archer build. I don't think I've ever start a new game planning to be an archer but somehow by the end i am a sneaky archer....
gameranx For anyone that is playing/going to play this, get the dragonstone before you ask the Jarl of Whiterun to help riverwood. You can start it by going into the store in Riverwood(forgot its name.) And look up ESO and Fudgemuppet, they have cool role playing builds and tips.
Logan M Is that a joke? Cause for all of you new to Skyrim there exists the "suspect system" and what this does is every time you commit a crime and someone sees you they're gonna report you or scream or something else but if you kill that person let's say inside his house (his house is where you committed the crime) if you let him walk out of that house then you're pretty much fucked but if you kill him before he get's out of that house you will not be arrested but here's where the chicken comes in. If a chicken saw you commit a crime you will instantly get reported (that's right instantly) to a guard and you can't get away from that, other animals will not report you but the chicken does
The_Alpha_Unleashed Oh sorry I forgot about the fact that if you kill the chicken itself you WILL get reported. Lesson: DO NOT MESS WITH SKYRIM CHICKENS CAUSE THEY HAVE POWER BETTER THAN THE DRAGONBORN's, THE POWER OF MAGICAL AUTHORITY AND THE ABILITY TO CALL UPON THE WRATH OF EVERY SKYRIM GUARD THAT EVER EXISTED
Here's a hint; you know that favorites menu? Take advantage of that, put health potions on it, that way you can heal at pretty much any time, even when you've been ragdolled and in the process of getting back up, you can still access those potions through the favorites menu, trust me, this makes fights against Draugr Deathlords and Karstaag less of a pain
Proper tip : Take all the equipments of enemies even if you don't use them and sell them all to people. You don't need to worry about it as long as you keep on doing it while you are on other quest and you should have no problem of money. Also, take a bit of time to buy some material and improve your gear. You never know when that extra 1 point of attack will come in handy.
"unless you put your difficulty down to super low but thats not really playing the game" *me* "ok ill just put my difficulty to legendary :D" *dies to a wolf* WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK
I just started my legendary account and yea I was killed by a wolf, twice. I'm pushing through it though, until your character has more of a footing with skills and equipment trying to make up that gap is the hardest at the start. Basically you have to exploit the game mechanics and be 'cheap' in every fight, using awkward rocks and water to keep your distance or using a companion to keep enemies busy. Of course I just finished survival mode in FO4 so the fact I can save anytime and fast travel in this legend mode makes it seem possible.
Third person is fantastic for combat. There are many ways in which you can back pedal and swing at multiple enemies, you won’t get surrounded as easy and your field of view is greatly increased.
2:20 should also be mentioned; don't be afraid to spend gold. There's an abundance in this game. 8-10 hours in you'll have far more gold than you'll know what to do with as long as you're looking and selling.
As a frequent stealth archer player myself I gotta add alchemy as an essential skill, those invisibility potions come in handy and the more free ones the better
I become a mage with enchanted heavy armor that lets you use lightning storm infinitely. I also have some enchanted weapons for when I want to switch things up. I almost never use a bow or sneak.
#9 Also, give an enchanted weapon to your follower that will trap souls and also give them all of your soul gems. This way, they will fill the gems for you without having to worry about it yourself. Great for the early game though you'll likely just by filled gems later in the game.
Trevor Daniels When you level a skill to 100 you can turn it into a Legendary Skill, being able to re-level it from 0 to 100 while having to re-take all the perks. This can be done with every skill and as much as you want, making possible to break the 81st level cap.
So I You lose all the perks you've unlocked in the skill? And you have to relocate them? Or do you keep the points? I don't get how getting your perk points back is considered no level capping as you would still end up with the some amount of perk points as you begin with...
I find myself changing back and forth. 1st person is definitely better when shooting arrows or whenever good aim is important. 3rd person is preferable when there are a lot of enemies around you, as when you're in 1st person you're not going to be able to keep track of them as well, and you're going to have a harder time dodging.
Got more tips: kill every chicken in every town, you can one shot a giant at level 1 with a dagger, put ALL skill points into lockpicking and make sure not to get arrows in the knee
No arrow in the knee? I thought that was some dumb story every guard says when you walk by. "I used to be an adventurer like you untill I got a arrow in the knee."
TOP 10 TIPS FOR NEW GUY AT GAMERANX 1. Don't say you are a new guy, pretend like you have been here for years 2.Make your voice sound cool 3.Tell jokes to make the viewer last 4.Don't say your name more than once in the video no one actually cares who you are 5.Try not to force your opinions on people 6.Don't try to relate to the viewer, we have nothing in common 7.Don't say to subscribe and like the video because you sound corney af 8.Always know when to stop talking about one of the tips AKA DONT RAMBLE 9. Only cover the good shit 10. Remain hidden until you have gathered a following and then have a face reveal
Caution on the over exploring. You can break some quests. Once you get up past level 30 you start making bank. I like to level enchanting and smithing, then legendary them. Sell the items you made and enchanted. For enchanting, the best boost for enchantments and for increasing value are Sneak, Chaos, Banish, Fear, Fortify Destruction, Health Restore, Paralyze. (Low level I use Waterbreathing on rings as petty souls work great with this one.) Chaos and Waterbreathing are found in Solstheim. There is also a bandit camp behind Whiterun, it's actually got a mine. Look for the upside down V. It has Transmute, handy for turning iron to gold. The Fortify Restoration / Alchemy exploit still works. You'll need to look it up if you want to know more about it. But this does kinda make things super easy. "Warning: do not mess with fortify health using this exploit. Will glitch your health and bring it below 0 if not careful."
It's faster to do alteration, use dual casted telekinesis on a pot in the college of winterhold, then fast travel all the way to the bottom left of the map, instant 100 alteration. Rinse repeat! Found that one on accident xD
Even on easy mode it's still sometimes difficult depending on what you are fighting. There are many tricks that you all could learn that will make you lots if gold and, level you up. Just play the game the way you want rather it's on easy or hard that's your choice
Honestly I've gotten into the habit of constantly saving from playing Skyrim, and now I do it with all other games I play. Whenever my sister watches me play a game she gets so annoyed at how much I pause to save the game. Then when she's playing games she forgets and gets started back at a point that is really far from where she is now and I try not to laugh but it's kinda funny to me.
Same! Although I jad saved way too much on one of my skyrim accounts and now I can't save at all so I started a new one and save over each time. The only time this backfired was when I acidentally deleted al the saves except for one from like 5 minites ago and I ended up getting stuck doing this one mission. I ended up getting through it though, thankfully...
Tonka I didn’t like fallout 4 to much when it came out. But when the survival mode was introduced I loved it. No fast travel and only saves when you sleep. But any FPS drop and my gear would skip a beat fearing a crash. 😂😂
Here's a better list: 1: When exiting the cave from Helgen there's a bandit camp not far, kill the bandits there, they have good early level gear. Also, raid the mine just past the standing stones. 2: Play on Expert or above, below that the game is far too easy and difficulties like Master and Legendary require strategy and the payoff is far more rewarding. 3: A dual wielding build coupled with the Death Brand armour is the most OP build in the game, also that x15 sneak bonus with daggers is ridiculous, invest in the sneak skill. 4: Join the factions early on, they offer great armour sets for free, especially the Dark Brotherhood. 5: Don't do the civil war questline, it breaks a lot of sidequests, if you want to do it wait until you've completed everything else first. 6: Play with mods, at least the unofficial Skyrim patch, many mods simply fix the game instead of adding something new. 7: If you want to play a mage focus on conjuration, it's the most powerful school in the game. 8: Spend your money! Money is easy to come by, might as well spend it. Don't be afraid to buy tens of potions at a time, especially on higher difficulties, they're worth the coin. 9: Use companions, again, on higher difficulties they make the game so much easier simply by being there as a distraction, they're not as useless as you may think. Companions can be great pack mules, also if they get stuck in doorways just aim the crosshairs in their eyes and they'll back up. 10: Do the main quest! It's not as boring as people say, I think they're forgetting you get to go to fucking Sovngard! Doing the main quest first opens the world up, NPCs have new dialogue, bard's sing about you, and some new sidequests become available. 11: BONUS, don't kill Paarthurnax you monster.
Toby Sweetman i dont really like any of those tips. This is an rpg, not a grindfest. My tip for new players is to just explore, have fun, and do what you want when you want. Its an rpg, treat it like one.
Wizardo Jizzardo i love to roleplay and slaughter villages not have trouble killing a fucking wolf so i treat it like the amazing game it is and explore places.
Skyrim is an RPG in which you can't actually RP, just G. If I'd treat Skyrim as an RPG, I would be disappointed after a few hours and wouldn't have put hundreds of hours into it.
1. True. 2. Uuhh well, that's actually the worst 'tip' for a _beginner_ . If you just started playing Skyrim then just stay with the standard difficulty. You know nothing about the different enemies, their attacks, their strengths and weaknesses, etc. The best way is to stay with the standard difficulty and then slowly turn it up when you get further in the game. 3. Well that's not a tip at all. Skyrim is Skyrim because you can play *everything* you like! A typical warrior? Do it! A stealth wizard who assassinates his targets with fireballs out of the shadows? Do it! An archer in heavy armor with conjuration skills? Do it! *Because you can!* 4. True. 5. That's just a lie. Ending the civil war is always one of the first things I do and I never ever had problems with other quests. Set your personal priorities and play the game as you like. 6. That's not really a tip either. Many players play on consoles and even though the PS4 and XB1 versions have _some_ mods, the PS3 versions and the XB360 version don't. Also, you can play the game without mods hundreds of hours without getting bored + the game is not that buggy that you *must* have the unofficial Patch. 7. Nah, I pointed that out already, didn't I? Create your personal playstyle! It's what makes Skyrim Skyrim! 8. That's actually true. You get so much money that you won't miss 1000 gold if you spend it for e.g. archery lessons. Money is so easy to get that it won't hurt. 9. If you're a beginner, than this is a good tip. Companions will help you very much. 10. True. 11. *Wrong! He deserves to die!*
First time I played Skyrim with the frost troll. I didn’t feel like doing the steps so I tried climbing straight up. When I got to the frost troll it jumped down and I was above it now. I didn’t kill it as I knew I stood no chance so I just walked over it as it walked were I should have been
I remember when skyrim first came out and I started a new game. I had just escaped execution and a fiery death, I am out in the world trying to locate river wood and I finally come upon it after all the amazing scenery. and then, I spot a chicken.... that one damn chicken, tiny and harmless.... my curiosity gets the best of me and I attack the chicken with my iron sword trying to see if I can kill it. Ta-da it worked!!! "By the order of the Jarl, stop right there!" Me: "FUCK, RUN!!!" it was just a chicken. 😭😭😭
When I first played this, I was at a friend's house. He let me play and create new character. One I made it to Riverwood, I saw the chicken and was curious about it too, I wanted to know if it'd die once I hit. My friends watching me. I hit the chicken and killed it and my friend looks to me nd says "you just fucked up the whole game" then he laughed. But the while village came after me and tried to kill me, i knew nothing about skyrim so I didn't know gourds could just make me pay a fine or something so I just started fighting lol, I took out a few people but got killed, uavnt killed a chicken since.
I agree with most of the advice here, except for number eight. Now I will admit that it is mainly a matter of personal taste. But for me, first person makes sense when making ranged attacks (bows, crossbows, most magic attacks, most shouts, etc.) but for hand-to-hand combat, third person is the way to go. Several reasons why. First, you can see enemies trying to hit you from the side or rear (think of it as being similar to peripheral vision.) Second, you're less likely to hit an ally or neutral. This is especially important when you're involved in a big brawl. Say, town guards vs. bandits. You don't want to hit a guard a few times by accident and cause them to go aggro on you. And third, you're more aware of your surroundings and are less likely to be backed into a corner or back-pedal off a cliff by accident.
actually, dont use followers when you are an assasin. 9/10 times they would rather give away your sneaky position instead of helping because their sneak is fucky
I still honestly believe solo is best sneak. I tried most of these. Also, if they get caught they start combat. Meaning you cant just shadow warrior crouch n stab them for the 30x times bonus damage
You know the phrase "Jack of all trades, master of none"? A second clause that's been ignored is "but oftentimes better than a master of one." You're doing just fine.
6 years late, but to add to this: -If you own Anniversary Edition, there are a number of homes added that you can access free of charge., my personal favorite being Myrwatch, which is automatically marked on your map. -An autosave is always made after you step off the carriage in Helgen, so if you want to skip the entire carriage sequence, then load that autosave. -Don't sell the Paragons you obtain from Forgotten Vale. These aren't just some cool egg-looking gems to sell, these can be used at the Paragon Platform near one of the wayshrines of Auriel which you can use to get gems, gold, potions, and even a unique shield. -Save before any dungeon/battle/boss encounter. You may think you're unstoppable, but you're wrong. You always have the chance to die unless you are using the Fortify Resto loop and have godly gear. You can very easily be overwhelmed. -If you are looking for the Daedra Walker achievement, do not take the Rueful Axe from Clavicus Vile. Choose to spare Barbas at the end of the quest and take the mask, as the axe does not count as a Daedric artifact.
I just started playing skyrim for the first time, I killed Gerders chicken and she and everyone else attacked me. I was so offended, I just wanted some damn chicken man.
Briana Inclima lol That's hilarious! Sorry they were so unforgiving. I am sad to say I am one of those that has somehow never played this game yet. Getting it in the mail in a few days.
My favorite way of getting started on a new save in Skyrim is joining the Dark Brotherhood because you get some pretty good starting armour, a place to stay, and plenty of gold from doing contracts.
I left Skyrim in my libary with about 5 hours of gameplay, I just didnt get the hype. But when the VR version got its sale I choose to give it another try, and now its one of the best gaming experiences I ever had. They put so much details in the maps, its incredible. I really get it now, its a world to get lost in.
I usually tell my follower to go home because they'll probably end up dying. I can't fulfill my Destiny as Dragonborn if Lydia keeps charging off to fight a dragon. GOD DAMN IT LYDIA THAT'S MY JOB!!!!
Factions: Dark Brotherhood, Thieves' Guild, Companions, Imperials/Stormcloaks, Dawnguard/Vampires, Bard's College, Mage's College. 7 factions, all of which give you a bed to sleep in.
And I find it MUCH easier to fight in third person when using a melee weapon. If you're sneaking up on someone to sneak attack them with a dagger, or when you're using a bow, first person is great. Of course this comes down to play style, thus this is not a tip but a preference.
And you have more than 81 skill points. You can make a skill line that you maxed out "Legendary," which resets the skill-line to level 15, refunds you the skill points, and lets you level up that skill line again.
We're not even talking abandoned places. The dresser in the alchemist's shack is safe storage, etc. Not only this, but you can move in with your spouse. There's like 15 men and women that let you move in after marriage.
The very first thing you do after leaving riverwood is find a Bound Sword spell. You can get some much more money selling every sword you find and when you level it up its amazingly strong!
I am about to embark on my first ever play through of Skyrim. I must have been living under a rock. I am so looking forward to it but also overwhelmed with where the heck to start😅 What build do I do? Explore but dont over explore😆 I have the full game guide my partner bought me with the game and its literally the biggest book 😅
Welcome to Tamriel Kinswoman! For Skyrim - is awesome, a second home, a yearning to find a Genie and hope to be transported to and live there forever! That is how it feels to play. Of course all peeps are different lol
One of the fun things to do at the start of your game is to hit Ralof/Hadvar at the back while sneaking on the start of the game where you see a bear. It put me up to sneaking 100 in 30 minutes and my level went up to level 17 because of it. Its a great start for a sneaking type character.
I remember when i first started this game about last july, I tried taking on a giant when i was really low level.I won but that was about after 20 minutes of running around just one boulder and shooting fire and frost spells at him.Despite being better at two hand, i was weak as hell and he could take me out with one hit. Fun times
Spending gold on equipment is going to be necessary at times for acquiring certain enchantments; such as muffle. I know; Skyrim basically just gives you several different kinds of muffled boots in different situations, but all those boots have only the one enchantment of muffle, and none of them can be disenchanted to acquire the enchantment. I would know; since I've already tried. The only way to get the enchantment muffle is to acquire a completely different pair of boots with the enchantment; which as far as I could find can only be acquired from a merchant. It's easiest to acquire said boots early on in the game; since finding the muffled boots in a Merchant's shop only gets harder the higher your character's level gets.
I'm playing Skyrim for the first time and it feels really good to finally get to it, I postponed it for so long for several different reasons over the years (mainly being poor and choosing nintendo consoles over the competition) and I was afraid I wasn't going to fall in love with the game as all my friends did back when the original was released... luckily I have a great PC now, and with the help of some UI mods I'm having a blast. I recently even finished BOTW for the second time (first time was in 2017) and I can see now why it used to be called "Skyrim Zelda". It feels so good to jump from one good game to another. And best of all: I will get all the Skyrim memes now.
even thought i despise skyrim do know some tips 1.the frost troll is avoidable sneak around the mountain 2. sell everything you don't need 3. don't bother buying healing potions or any you find enough 4. if you planing to commit a crime look out for animals they will report you to the guards (don't ask how)
For new players and those who haven’t picked up on this yet. You can spot and kill draugr before they wake up. Look for the one with armor like apparel. Then use a sneak attack on them. Bow is suggested for those with low sneak skills
I’m playing Fallout 3 atm, and I think I’ll move into this next. I missed both of them when they were released. I know it’s an old game but I’m really enjoying fallout 3, and it runs great in my series S, as it should being a 15 year old game. Thanks for the video! I’m excited to play Skyrim even more now.
The only difference between us is I'm currently playing Fallout 4, experiencing Far Harbor for the first time and loving it! As soon as I finish, Skyrim is installed and ready to go and it'll be baby's first Elder Scrolls game. Super excited and hopefully you're enjoying it, then once I hop on there will officially be nobody left on Earth that hasn't played this game
@@uberboomer8670 I haven’t started Skyrim yet. I decided to play cyberpunk because they’d fixed all the bugs and it was half price on the Xbox store. It was a bad decision though, the game wasn’t too bad but it crashed so often that it drove me nuts. I’m playing far cry 5 atm because it’s free on gamepass, but I’m finding it pretty average. Fallout 3 is easily the best game I’ve played in the last 12 months, it’s such a great game. I think I even like it more than Fallout 4 which I loved. I’m definitely playing Skyrim next though, I’m ready for another epic Bethesda experience. I hope it can match the fun I had with the fallout games.
@@Huss_D yeah I'm having the same experience, I fell in love with these massive and most importantly lived-in open worlds. I thought 4 was so great I dove into 76 after, which at this point with fixes, added content and increased inventory is "meh" at best. I'd love to play 3 or NV but ps4 only gives 1 option for that, so I'll give Skyrim a shot. Also, it's funny everyone I've talked to has had a different experience with cyberpunk, was generally bug free for me and I actually quite enjoyed it along with my friend and 3-4 others who still thought it was utterly broken trash....
Bonus tip you can turn on Save on rest Save on wait Save on travel AND Save on character menu that way you never have to manually save your game unless you're about to go to bed and shut the game off
how the fuck did you manage to convert 100 gold into ten bucks? I mean if you made it so 1 gold is one cent then fair enough If you meant 1 gold is one dollar then ok fine but why 10 bucks?
I only tried to play Skyrim once. I got to the first town, saved there. Then I went on and did some quests and shit. Climbed all the way up that big ass mountain, and near the top there was some kind of beast I forgot what it was. It kicked my ass, I died, and I realized that I didn't save after that first town. I was beyond furious and never touched the game again.
+Jah Gringo oh no, not saving and having lost hours of progress can be incredibly frustrating. I lost about 8 hours because I ran into a bug but forgot about it. I dropped the game for a good month before coming back haha
Actually the special edition has more than just 81 points. It comes with the ability to make skills legendary, which reset the skill level to 15, but gives you ALL points from it back to reallocate
My advice is a bit strange but I found out the hard way: if you want a set of guards armor from a certain town/ city? Make sure when/if you side with the Stormcloaks or the Empire, that you get the armor BEFORE your faction takes the city. Example: i sided with the legion on my first playthrough. When we were gonna tale winterhold, i looked around and was like “damn those winterhold guard outfits look cool!” And like an idiot i decided to take the town first. Well after that, I went into winterhold, and the guards were just Imperials. No more cool winterhold guards! Hope this helps someone.
Listen game and, a jack of all trades character works amazingly well, my first ever play through character was a jack of all trades, except for magic. And it works great. I was a stealthy heavy armor two handed warrior. And that setup is practically the best in the game. So you may want to re-think that part, in a nice friendly way.
Why heavy armor with high stealth? I creep up and one shot most enemies with my ebony warhammer of draining. Using light armor lets me carry more loot.
The encounter with that first frost troll is one of my favorite moments in gaming. Took me fifteen tries it was so stupidly hard, but it felt so epic at the time.

"Don't spend your money on stuff, you should really save up for, like, a house..." Who says video games don't teach life skills?
lol
This is the first thing I do the last few times I played Skyrim on my main computer - save up the 5K gold to buy that house in Whiterun. When I first played Skyrim the first time I thought it was fantastic you could put stuff in just about any container. A few in-game days pass by and everything I put in various world containers are gone forever. Talk about way beyond angry. Later I found out that the game does this automatically for memory purposes and keep the game stable too. The in-house containers never refresh so you can store presumably infinite number of items in them. So that's why I try to get a house asap... gotta put my hoard somewhere.

I keep a maximum of 3 manual saves; just save over the oldest manual save once you have 3. This has served me well and it also keeps the saves to a max of 6. Since I always keep the very first save, which I manually do right after you get off of the cart before you choose your character, I have a max of 7 saves. Autosaves only keep a max of 3 as well, btw.
I still always forget to save after 1000+ hours
Galaxy, dude are you fucking kidding me, skyrim is ten times better than mine craft will ever be!!!

4:27 “talks about how important it is to give it a vanilla run”
“Shows gameplay from a client with 50+ mods”
You aren’t a true Skyrim player if you don’t take on a giant pre level 10 and get sent to the moon

I have put 4000+ hours into Skyrim. Why did I watch this till the end?
First, you came because the title is misleading. The video isn't about things to know before a NEW game, but the FIRST game. Then, since you had already bitten the bait, you probably kept watching because you wanted: 1. to learn something new; 2. to compare your knowledge of the game to his; 3. to check if this guy was giving good advice to new players, so you could call him out if it wasn't. Also, because the video is very well made, obviously.
His voice. I have a good 3k hours in Skyrim, and several hundred, at least, in Special Edition - and I still watched all the way through!
Same here 4000+ hours and still watched this all the way through for some reason.
To make sure it was sound advice? Lol

10. Join a faction
9. Use a companion whenever you can
8. Don't use 3rd person
7. Don't spend gold on equipment
6. Get married
5. Don't try to fight newly discovered difficult enemies unless you saved recently. Just run.
4. When mods are on, achievements are off. Don't mod for your first time playing.
3. Don't run a jack of all trades class. Stay committed to a specific play style
2. Crafting and enchanting are important. Don't ignore them.
1. Save often. Autosaves are few and far between.

@@astronomical3342 3rd person is great in my opinion not sure why he says not to use it, it’s all personal preference really

Use the wall-plate glitch on the wardrobe in the tavern in riverwood. (Put a plate against a wall and sprint into it) do that to the dresser/wardrobe and open the back panel and you can get a blades sword, an orchish sword, lots of ingredients and a boat load of gold.

Don't become a vampire, ended up killing the only guy who could turn me back into a human and Dammmmmn it was a pain
super pro tip :
DO NOT
AND I MEAN DO NOT
FUCK WITH THE CHICKEN
***** it's a war between one man and the rest of the world
But that man can kill by yelling
Logan M Is that a joke? Cause for all of you new to Skyrim there exists the "suspect system" and what this does is every time you commit a crime and someone sees you they're gonna report you or scream or something else but if you kill that person let's say inside his house (his house is where you committed the crime) if you let him walk out of that house then you're pretty much fucked but if you kill him before he get's out of that house you will not be arrested but here's where the chicken comes in. If a chicken saw you commit a crime you will instantly get reported (that's right instantly) to a guard and you can't get away from that, other animals will not report you but the chicken does
that moment when you'd think it would be "funny" to kill a chicken
Proper tip :
Take all the equipments of enemies even if you don't use them and sell them all to people. You don't need to worry about it as long as you keep on doing it while you are on other quest and you should have no problem of money.
Also, take a bit of time to buy some material and improve your gear. You never know when that extra 1 point of attack will come in handy.

"You only have 81 points"
Hmmmm....Legendary Update destroyed that cap....a couple years ago...
blindness134 was finna type that up myself. lol pretty important update
blindness134 so what exactly does the legendary update mean for level caps? is there still a limit as to how many perk points I can. receive?
Trevor Daniels When you level a skill to 100 you can turn it into a Legendary Skill, being able to re-level it from 0 to 100 while having to re-take all the perks.
This can be done with every skill and as much as you want, making possible to break the 81st level cap.
So I
You lose all the perks you've unlocked in the skill? And you have to relocate them? Or do you keep the points? I don't get how getting your perk points back is considered no level capping as you would still end up with the some amount of perk points as you begin with...
Trevor Daniels You have to re-level it anew, which means that you'll gain new char. levels while doing so.

i play in 3rd person as well, havent really had a real problem with it
@@dylancoulbeck7483 thats wrong
I find myself changing back and forth. 1st person is definitely better when shooting arrows or whenever good aim is important. 3rd person is preferable when there are a lot of enemies around you, as when you're in 1st person you're not going to be able to keep track of them as well, and you're going to have a harder time dodging.
Got more tips: kill every chicken in every town, you can one shot a giant at level 1 with a dagger, put ALL skill points into lockpicking and make sure not to get arrows in the knee

(Low level I use Waterbreathing on rings as petty souls work great with this one.)
Chaos and Waterbreathing are found in Solstheim.

I ended up getting through it though, thankfully...
i dont bother actually saving often, i just quicksave every 20 seconds lol
Tonka I didn’t like fallout 4 to much when it came out. But when the survival mode was introduced I loved it. No fast travel and only saves when you sleep. But any FPS drop and my gear would skip a beat fearing a crash. 😂😂
I save a lot in skyrim 😂
SAME like ill be playing minecraft or something and ill pause every 5 minutes to save and ppl will be like ??? - skyrim man it saves lives
Here's a better list:
1: When exiting the cave from Helgen there's a bandit camp not far, kill the bandits there, they have good early level gear.
I always cheat on the Paarthurnax Quest. Console Commands FTW! XD
Do it! *Because you can!*
4. True.
10. True.
11. *Wrong! He deserves to die!*

there were no guards in riverwood then
MrDeadpool yes there was I played on day 1 did the same thing as this guy and I got attacked by guards lol so I know for a fact there was guards
"Paying for a room every night" Who needs to buy a room? Ever?
DeJake Don’t think My Character has closed his eyes since his Creation😂💯
Who actually sleeps in skyrim anyways?
I did.
On my first playthrough.
Years ago.
tbh theyre like 10 gold a night you can stay for 100 night by stealing the bar food
@@bilboswaggins6726 I do for immersion/roleplaying/realism reasons
actually, dont use followers when you are an assasin. 9/10 times they would rather give away your sneaky position instead of helping because their sneak is fucky
Cicero's really good tho. He's got 100 in sneak and he can't die anyway.
I really liked him
serana is pretty much invisible when sneaking lol
I don't know this one frankly. I kept cicero when I got him 'cause I liked his voice lines and the fact that he's immortal x)
why would you ever take cicero? you just kill him and take his outfit, if not for the 20% bether prices, than just for collecting purposes
I still honestly believe solo is best sneak. I tried most of these. Also, if they get caught they start combat. Meaning you cant just shadow warrior crouch n stab them for the 30x times bonus damage
You mean to tell me that when I play as a smooth talking Archer Mage One/Two-Handed Tank Stealth Thief Enchanter Smith I'm missing out on something?
Yes. You're missing out on alchemy :P
What about light
logan Galiotos I think light is part of the thief
Einomies alchemy is boring lol
You know the phrase "Jack of all trades, master of none"? A second clause that's been ignored is "but oftentimes better than a master of one." You're doing just fine.
"Super stealthy thief archer but that's just me."
".....riiiiiiiiiigt...."
6 years late, but to add to this:
-If you own Anniversary Edition, there are a number of homes added that you can access free of charge., my personal favorite being Myrwatch, which is automatically marked on your map.
Who votes to always call him (no matter how many people join) "New Guy"
I second that
FuFu Fighter Leeeets Gooooo!!
yes
Kuhlio99 there we go
Kuhlio99 yes
I just started playing skyrim for the first time, I killed Gerders chicken and she and everyone else attacked me. I was so offended, I just wanted some damn chicken man.
They knew u weren't going to share
Briana Inclima lol That's hilarious! Sorry they were so unforgiving. I am sad to say I am one of those that has somehow never played this game yet. Getting it in the mail in a few days.
Yeah that shit sucks bad.
@@captainboromir6958 This is exactly why you died in Lord of the Rings. You can't survive if you haven't played Skyrim man!
@@jackievarughese3945 lol Yeah I'm a late arrival.
My favorite way of getting started on a new save in Skyrim is joining the Dark Brotherhood because you get some pretty good starting armour, a place to stay, and plenty of gold from doing contracts.
Dar'vani Plays I always start by killing Astrid and the rest of the dark brotherhood 🤔😜
GOD DAMN IT LYDIA THAT'S MY JOB!!!!
lol I do the same, even down to the GOD DAMMIT LYDIA
Ikr lol, Lydia should be the dragonborn, she's a beast
I thought companions couldn't die unless the player hits them. I mean one their hp is low and they start crawling they stay alive unless you hit them
not in Skyrim, there's only a couple of companions that don't die
Accidentally killing Lydia is the worst. Using a mage and then having Lydia charge in to the enemy your about to hit with a spell, Ugh.
I agree
We're not even talking abandoned places. The dresser in the alchemist's shack is safe storage, etc.
Not only this, but you can move in with your spouse. There's like 15 men and women that let you move in after marriage.
DipDodgeDuck I always marry an orc from that orc camp northeast in the reach so I get a free house
The very first thing you do after leaving riverwood is find a Bound Sword spell. You can get some much more money selling every sword you find and when you level it up its amazingly strong!
That frost troll in the beginning was tough lmao
what? iron dagger exploit? lvl 81 levelcap? is it 2011 again?
Sowas in der Art dachte ich mir auch. =D
Dieter das Bier yeah, those were changed years ago
Dieter das Bier he got it wrong they removed the level cap just make level100 skills legendary and they reset to 15 and you get any points refunded
Yeah... big fumble there.
iron dagger exploit? it sucks, you should try potion glitch.
One more thing. No matter what classes or skills you choose, you'll end up being a stealth archer.
Skyrim is one of the few games i hate archery
Zak Burnley Good thing I hate archery in Skyrim.
Ive only ever been once a Stealth Archer.. Where’s the fun in sneaking around when you can bash their skull in with a Warhammer?
Zak Burnley I like my tanky sword and board warriors
Zak Burnley Chicken Lives matter.
I am about to embark on my first ever play through of Skyrim. I must have been living under a rock. I am so looking forward to it but also overwhelmed with where the heck to start😅
What build do I do?
Explore but dont over explore😆 I have the full game guide my partner bought me with the game and its literally the biggest book 😅
Welcome to Tamriel Kinswoman! For Skyrim - is awesome, a second home, a yearning to find a Genie and hope to be transported to and live there forever! That is how it feels to play. Of course all peeps are different lol
I quicksave anytime I’m entering a quest area or when I’m about to fight a strong enemy
i use companions as backpacks
Yea, my burdens aren't the only thing Lydia carries ;)
I just hop on shadowmere and fast travel.
I make them into thralls
Who doesn't?
Lmao same. They carry so much shit for me all the time
"I like running a thief archer. Thats just me though."
No sir that is literally everyone who has ever played Skyrim EVER
I played a mage-warrior
@@Reallyker101 same
Never actually played as sneak archer. Seems boring
I always play as a heavy armoured battle mage
Hmm, because Im playing as a heavy nord with some igni thrown in. Also, havent stolen anything. Basically a solar titan hahaha
I've played and explored so much, I find enjoyment in just following the main stuff to see what the story was actually supposed to be like 😂
One of the fun things to do at the start of your game is to hit Ralof/Hadvar at the back while sneaking on the start of the game where you see a bear.
Fun times
The Chaotic Phoenixx my first giant was having him chase me into the tower outside whiterun so he can't get me..
How long did it take you to kill him?
The Chaotic Phoenixx we all been there my dude LOL
Nordic space program...
like kerbal pace program but you don't me up your timings.
You forgot to mention. DON'T TOUCH THE CHICKEN
pitted_viper77 one comment is saying to kill them lmao
pitted_viper77
the chicken in riverwood especially
The towns folk act like the chickens are more important than their own children.
pitted_viper77 In Special Edition they fixed it ;)
pitted_viper77 AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
And best of all: I will get all the Skyrim memes now.
even thought i despise skyrim do know some tips
1.the frost troll is avoidable sneak around the mountain
2. sell everything you don't need
3. don't bother buying healing potions or any you find enough
4. if you planing to commit a crime look out for animals they will report you to the guards (don't ask how)
Enclave grunt wtf I have never heard of number 4...
Enclave grunt you got 1 and 2 right
You can just cheese the frost troll if you stand on the rock about 10 feet away from when you see it
Or just run past the troll.
Enclave grunt I deleted my old save, constant troll kills, it just dropped off of a high ledge to behind me and one hit killed me.
For new players and those who haven’t picked up on this yet. You can spot and kill draugr before they wake up. Look for the one with armor like apparel. Then use a sneak attack on them. Bow is suggested for those with low sneak skills
thats what i do because even tho im really good with health like 450 health, they still freak me out
I’m playing Fallout 3 atm, and I think I’ll move into this next.
Bonus tip you can turn on
Save on rest
Save on wait
Save on travel AND
Save on character menu that way you never have to manually save your game unless you're about to go to bed and shut the game off
I wish my spouse would give me 100 gold a day...
So... ten bucks?
how the fuck did you manage to convert 100 gold into ten bucks?
I mean if you made it so 1 gold is one cent then fair enough
If you meant 1 gold is one dollar then ok fine
but why 10 bucks?
Anthony Nexar take the joke you fucking Dimp
Ya you goddamn DIMP!
I think your irl wife is broken you should get a new one
I only tried to play Skyrim once. I got to the first town, saved there. Then I went on and did some quests and shit. Climbed all the way up that big ass mountain, and near the top there was some kind of beast I forgot what it was. It kicked my ass, I died, and I realized that I didn't save after that first town. I was beyond furious and never touched the game again.
Sk8mattGaming Definitely talking about the first frost troll encounter lmao. Hes in the mountains preying on noobs going to Hrothgar
Sk8mattGaming same here
Julian Maguire Yup, that was it.
Sk8mattGaming you sir, are an idiot. and impatient too
+Jah Gringo oh no, not saving and having lost hours of progress can be incredibly frustrating. I lost about 8 hours because I ran into a bug but forgot about it. I dropped the game for a good month before coming back haha
Actually the special edition has more than just 81 points. It comes with the ability to make skills legendary, which reset the skill level to 15, but gives you ALL points from it back to reallocate
it's been 11yrs, I'll never forget this game for my whole life
My advice is a bit strange but I found out the hard way: if you want a set of guards armor from a certain town/ city? Make sure when/if you side with the Stormcloaks or the Empire, that you get the armor BEFORE your faction takes the city. Example: i sided with the legion on my first playthrough. When we were gonna tale winterhold, i looked around and was like “damn those winterhold guard outfits look cool!” And like an idiot i decided to take the town first. Well after that, I went into winterhold, and the guards were just Imperials. No more cool winterhold guards!
Hope this helps someone.
My advice is to do everything before taking a side in the Civil War. Everything!
Klaus Gaming yeah
I think you can find that armour in Dragonsreach though.
You can probably still find stormcloaks at their camps around the holds.
A question for people who put over 4000 hours. How is the game still going for you guys? Do you Still find ways to get entertained?
So. Many. Iron. Daggers.
Never again.
Br00tal77 I spent hours and hours just to do that exploit back in the day on 360.
yes
Br00tal77 I think I tried seeing how many daggers it took from 1 to 100 smithing... its like 1200... that's like 2400 clicks
Its faster and more profitable to transmute iron ore to gold ore and then make jewelry
Br00tal77 iron or steel armor is more profitable than iron daggers too
Listen game and, a jack of all trades character works amazingly well, my first ever play through character was a jack of all trades, except for magic.
Dan enarc Because dragons
Even though I have who knows how many hours into skyrim, I still enjoy watching Skyrim videos, even if they're intended for newcomers.
The encounter with that first frost troll is one of my favorite moments in gaming. Took me fifteen tries it was so stupidly hard, but it felt so epic at the time.
Or use a Sabre Cat companion and wreck him.
I love mods
Nick Molnar same here
so. im the only one who just rode a Horse past the Frost Troll on the way to High Hrothgar???
I just ran away from it.
Nick Molnar it only took me one try because I would have Lydia fight for me and then just surprise it.
Only me who use my housecarl as a walking chest
Dats me too XD
lmao
I call my chest Lydia
.....im to stupid to bring one with me.....so yes
same
Damn y’all really “devoting” your love to someone, just to get extra xp and gold 😂
Just remember there is a divorce option.
Well, at least, that's what I told my wife on our wedding day. 😂
I like that in that gameplay, Lydia was sacrificed to some dragur, before the player just walked up and one-shotted them.
