Hooray for Santa Claus! This is and "Muppet Christmas Carol" are my two favorite Christmas movies. Yes, it's night and day between the two, but SCCTM has a charm to it that just makes me happy.
This movie is a real guilty pleasure of mine, lol
The thing is the movie, despite its cheese, is actually an oddly original concept that would actually be cool and fun if done with better acting, SFX, costumes, etc.
I like this movie, unironically. It's cheap, stupid and goofy but it has charm and heart and is something of a neat story.
Also, John Call did a genuinely good job and was a very good Santa. He was a bit of a scatterbrain with a creepy laugh but he was a genuinely sweet, loving, positive, genuine Santa.
If Jim Carrey did play Dropo, that would make him Carrey's FOURTH green character that he's played (right next to the Grinch, the Riddler, and the Mask.)
not gonna lie if i had seen this as a kid I woulda loved it. just so weird and kinda fun.

I could see Phil Lord and Chris Miller (the team behind Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Lego Movie, the 21Jump Street films, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) remaking this into a much better, funnier, and bizarre (in a good way) animated film.
Oh wow. That's an absolutely excellent idea. They'd be a perfect fit for something like this.

Anyone who considers this the worst Christmas movie ever made has obviously never seen the Mexican movie just titled Santa Claus or another movie called Santa Claus and the Ice Cream Bunny.

Okay. I’ve watched this movie three times during the course of my life. Well, maybe four counting the MST3000 version. It isn’t the worst. Manos, Hands of Fate is the worst. Go ahead. Watch it. I dare you. Next to the worst is Cave Dwellers. Only watch the MST3000 version. Do not attempt this on your own. Next to that comes Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. SCTM features a theme song that will get into your head and drive down your IQ. There’s nothing special about the special effects - they are just effects. The dialogue will make you weep for the human race. I think everyone should see it at least once.

Agreed. That movie was a slog. At least the Martian one was fun, funny, somewhat professionally done and had a couple of real actors in it.
Also, a very catchy theme song.
