I would venture to say that Mayer is a better guitar player than a singer and I mean that as a compliment because he's a good singer, with a good voice. I decided this after listening to him playing blues music. I used to think he was just a good looking white boy pop singer, but he's a hell of a player, and Urban isn't bad either. Mayer is also a better song writer than for which I initially game him credit. Gravity is damn good. Very sparse, but it says a lot in a few words.

John was going through a real tough time here: a year from his throat surgery and rediscovering his voice and some of the missing pieces he lost.
