He is quality of course and also no fool - that is Steve Gadd on drums... former Steely Dan and arguably the best session drummer in the world. In his former band he had Steve Ferrone on drums (Average White Band followed by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers), Nathan East on bass and Greg (I really wrote most of Thriller) Phillinganes on keys. ERIC CLAPTON's only Hot 100 #1, solo or with one of his numerous bands, was his cover of BOB MARLEY's "I SHOT THE SHERIFF," which he initially refused to include on his album "461 OCEAN BOULEVARD" because he felt it would be insulting to Marley. Members of his band and management persuaded him that it should be included not only on the album but also released as a single.

I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy
All around in my home town
They're trying to track me down
They say they want to bring me in guilty
For the killing of a deputy
For the life of a deputy, but I say
I shot the sheriff, but I swear it was in self-defense
I shot the sheriff, and they say it is a capital offense
Sheriff John Brown always hated me
For what I don't know
Every time that I plant a seed
He said, "Kill it before it grows"
He said, "Kill it before it grows", I say
I shot the sheriff, but I swear it was in self-defense
I shot the sheriff, but I swear it was in self-defense
Freedom came my way one day
And I started out of town
All of a sudden I see sheriff John Brown
Aiming to shoot me down
So I shot, I shot him down, I say
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy
Reflexes got the better of me
And what is to be must be
Every day the bucket goes to the well
But one day the bottom will drop out
Yes, one day the bottom will drop out, but I say
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy, oh no
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy, oh no

As always, one of the best performances ever...the master himself...this doesn't get any better...
A privilege to hear this just once, let alone twice. Thank you Eric.
when clapton started singing i suddenly wasn't tired anymore
Well then that must be coke, not eric :-)
A voice aged like fine wine does that to a person i suppose
Thanks for your sincere compliment and love ,I’m not complete without you as my fan.
@@ericclapton6722 lol
And the bass player is a brilliant talent, he keeps it tight.
Willie Leaks
That's the purpose of the bass - to support everything else, along with the drums.
@@johneeedeee8528 - Yep great session man and former Doobie Brother
exactly what i was thinking . so much talent on one stage
Amazing groove
Musical Masterpiece and incredible cover of the late great Bob Marley. You did Bob proud. He's smiling down from heaven. Keep rockin and rolling.
Nobody talks about the bassist, he is just awesome!
Totalmente!!!
and pianiste !!
So is the drummer
No time for talking when one feels an urgent need to transcribe the intro bassline.
The legend Stevie Gadd on drums and Mr. Soul Willie Weeks on bass.
Merci monsieur pour ces solos
Magnifiques depuis toutes ces années.
Vous avez été mon 1er soliste préféré depuis + de 30 années.
Que du bonheur.
Thanks for your sincere compliment and love ,I’m not complete without you as my fan.
Definitely a ICON. I would love to see him play at Red Rock in Colorado.
Ok I like to see him play under any rock
With Big Head Todd. I would fly in from Thailand
Cortei muita estrada com meu coroa e tive o privilégio de dislumbrartoda sua guitarra no hall de Janeiro, Sapucaí!!!
Que foda!!
The voice, the guitar tone. Just insane. Crazy old man
Clapton is like a really good wine. The more he ages the more he becomes sweet.
Boa man
so will become vinegar soon lol
@@Zibsss Please, don't say that.
I shot the sheriff는 이 라이브가 제일 좋네요
수만번도 들은곡이지만 들을때마다 너무 좋아요
That 3 minute solo gives me shivers every time I listen to it
Man, listen to Eric's playing. INCREDIBLE, UNBELIEVABLE,... SPEECHLESS!
So I see you're an Eric Clapton fan.
BarronBrothersFilms Yep, that's right! He's my hero and idol : -) Eric Clapton FOREVER ; -)
***** Yep ;)
I love Eric Clapton so much, words cannot describe it || I believe that he is indeed the greatest in the lead category, beating Hendrix by a single hair
BarronBrothersFilms I can see that you like eric clapton too, but you just want to comment that stupid shit. what the hell are you doing in this video if you dont like it right?? dumbass!
o melhor solo de guitarra que já ouvi na minha vida ! me hipnotiza, é surreal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great band, great solo... They ranked up the tempo steadily, increasing the energy throughout the song! GREAT!
You know your good when you have music superstars in your audience. What a legend!
I think Clapton is well past the point to wonder whether he's good :)
i know right, people used to call him god :D
This is the cross roads music festival. There were plenty of music superstars within the crowd lol

You know you are special when they are fans of you
In this Year (2020) My father and I we're going to a Eric Clapton show in Düsseldorf Germany. It's one of my father's wishes. Eric is old, but i'm sure it's gonna be unforgettable!
That is awesome. Hey if you like Eric you are getting old too. Just turned 55 and Mom would have been 97 ths year! ROCK ON.
Hey. When and where?
Old? Music is for the ears not for the eyes ❤️🔥🔥😊
@@petllazy8669 You are right! I mean, his voice is not the same and things like that. But i know he are going to do a excellent show. We will go from Spain to Germany. So imagine how much we love it!
@@kimberlystickell6497 Yeah man, i'm 22 years old. But my music taste it's old fashioned haha
Always enjoyed listening to this song. Now it reminds me of what's happening all over the world. Thanks.
No matter who you are, your age, or what your life is like, as you listen to these beautiful tunes, I wish you all the luck, happiness, and cherished moments with your loved ones. Enjoy every note! 💓
Those sick bass lines litrerally shot the sheriff making this version the best of all versions. 😎🔥🔥🔥
SMOKIN!!!!!
When people hear the song they will always think about Bob Marley because that is the only original version
Agreewith you! 🤘🏻🔥
@@roykerster4004 i'm comparing it to all claptons live version of it. not to bobs version, props to bob tho the original version of I shot the sheriff. 🔥😁✌
The bassist is incredible.
Senhor Clapton, sua guitarra é demais!
the greatness of Slowhand, that bass though🔥🔥
I have never witnessed such a legendary performance...
I hope this sound and performance was recorded in the depth of the space...
Always love listening to Eric "Slow Hand" Clapton. Glad my dad raised me to listen and enjoy the soul in music. Clapton is certainly one of the best ever to make a guitar sing.
One of my favorite solos ever. Man that's just good.
Joshua Kruel have you heard of Layla?
DATGUY59 this is better
@@happymonky0079 Yeah Layla is for sure great too.
@@Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzt I agree.

the best version of I shot the sheriff, fantastic musicians and singers, this is my all time favourite.
Clapton will always be Incredible. A timeless musician
I didn't shot the debutie
Tim Doyle: I totally agree.
Just imagine if Bob Marley and Clapton did this together.
I dont want to
This comment its largely underrated
Yeah imagine
Bob Marley confessed before he died that he shot the sheriff. Eric is now saying that he did the same too.
Haven't they done it together?
And then you add Jaco Pastorius on top of that
ERIC CLAPTON's only Hot 100 #1, solo or with one of his numerous bands, was his cover of BOB MARLEY's "I SHOT THE SHERIFF," which he initially refused to include on his album "461 OCEAN BOULEVARD" because he felt it would be insulting to Marley. Members of his band and management persuaded him that it should be included not only on the album but also released as a single.
His tone is unbelievable. He’s manipulating everything via pick attack and his volume control mid note. He is the greatest.
