Thank you for your words. I made a prayer also for him and your family but don't cry, i lost my father in 1996, i loved him so much and was a terrible pain but day by day he helps you to accept his dead and the desperation comes acceptable, as that of my mother. They don't want you sad and crying but thinking that now they are in a new dimension, in peace and serenity. Just doing this they can help and protect you h 24. Be strong!!!

Been a Clapton fan as a teenager in the 70s. He writes songs like no other, and his melodies are astonishingly complex but a delight to listen to, 'change the world' being a perfect example. My No.1 choice if stranded on a desert island. And still probably, the coolest guy on the planet. Thank you EC.❤

My dad also had the most beautiful blue eyes. Looking into the them brought me comfort and eased my spirit as well. It's been 15 years since he left, I miss him everyday too. Yes, this song brings comfort and tears. I never tire of listening to it. I love you Dad. Thank you Eric Clapton. 7

as beautiful as this music is, his lyrics kill me once again. The never ending impact of the absentee father and the lifelong effect it has on the child is gutwrenching. this should be studied in schools worldwide. Dads, you are needed!!

👍👍👍 Eric never had a father! BUT a granddad! 👍 And: THEY destroyed the family union. SO RETURN TO VIRTUES and do something about it! Get married, a nice woman and get at least 2 kids!!!
I so understand. My parents divorced when I was two then remarried when I was 10, divorced again when I was 12. He was murdered when I was 19 and he was 38. It has definitely affected my whole life and my relationships with men. I tended to gravitate to men just like him. Hence I have had a very stormy life.
G-wen sometimes a father is absentee by not beeing able to accept his son looking into his eyes so was my father and I understand, why he was not able to do .... I am 71 now and I am missing, that he did not allow me to embrace him but I love him !!!
I am 72 years old and about 6 months ago I started to try to learn how to play slow blues on electric guitar, which I don't think I'll ever be able to do.Istarted to listen and watch Eric Clapton and I'm like several others who have said some of his songs bring me to tears,he is the best ever,I just wish I had started watching his videos earlier in life
He never met his Father....Eric was the illegitimate son of a Canadian flyer who was in GB during the War...knocked-up his Mom, then returned to Canada. His young Mom then lived with her Mother and gave birth to Eric. As a cover story, Eric was raised to believe his Mom was his SISTER and that his Grandmother was his Mother !! So I believe his search for his Father will never be over...perhaps he wrote this song to "air" his pain relating to this life issue just as his "Tears in Heaven" was written to help him deal with the loss of his child Connor who died tragically. Our love of his great music is rooted in his life tragedies without which they would never have been written. He always has been a "Blues-Rocker" and a great song writer who has had MULTIPLE successful careers spanning literally more than 1/2 Century. Thanks man....you have made your mark with millions of loyal fans and WILL do it again with generations yet unborn.
Beautifully written and thank you so much for sharing your heartwarming story... My father was an alcoholic and abused my mother and us 4 kids... I have been using my music therapy group on my msgr now and with that said I've been listening to rock and roll since I was 13yrs old it's my 1st love as is This Man...
Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful thoughts on Eric he is a great gift from Our Father God I was abused by my alcoholic father until I was 13yrs old and never wanted to look into his eyes... Music is my therapy and rock is my heart 1st. I too have loved this man's musical talent. Have been listening to him since I was 13yrs old and never heard this song before and I was doing a top 5 guitarist on my music therapy group through msgr and of course Eric was there and I searched for the song choice I wanted to use and I don't believe in accidents or coincidence's... I believe God led me straight to this song and at first the title of course wasn't right but I listened to the lyrics and knew God and Eric who wrote the song flipped the script and I cried with love and joy with the most precious words of understanding exactly what they meant... I had already forgiven my father a long time ago and God has blessed me with 4 son's and plus 1 1/2 brother I helped raise and they are grown now ... My oldest is 43yrs and Christopher is in the Ellis Unit serving a long sentence for drugs that I know he would otherwise be dead... My heart is broken but I'm so grateful for his life and God's mercy on him... He has a son who just graduated and we have not seen since he was a child.. Through the music and prayer warriors for our children all around the world I dedicated this song to them and played through out the day I tell you that again that prayers work by 9pm that night my grandson on msgr contacted me... I was overwhelmed with joy and love to hear from him and asking about his father, my son... I thank you Mr. Eric Clapton for your music that touches us in our hearts!!! We are all blessed by it through you and I say thank you for all you give of yourself with the precious talent through Our Father God in Jesus Christ name Amen... I apologize for the long reply as I have never done this before... I really enjoyed reading your words of his lifetime and would like to know more and read his autobiography too... Can you tell me the title please...
My 90 year old father passed away last week. I was so blessed to bring home for his final days. I will never forget the last time I looked in my fathers eyes. There was joy. And then he slipped away. I’ll always have our memories, I dedicate this song to the best dad a girl could ever have had.
Eric Clapton is a man blessed of the Lord! He had a very rough life, been thru hell and here he is playing like never before, has a beautiful family! I admire him as a man and musician!
Eric Clapton is one of the nicest people that I have ever worked with. He’s a fine and true gentleman and very generous with his time. His talent is unmatched on this planet. A very cool dude!

@Slow Cheetah Yeah, he has said he used to be an asshole messed up on alcohol and drugs, but he cleaned up and is a great dude now and has been for quite a long time. Met him in a pub in Asheville NC around 12 years ago. He spent around 1.5 hours with me and some friends. Was hanging with us for like 30 min. before I asked him name, since I had not recognized him. He was having a good time being just another bloke. Nice guy with no head up his ass.
Totally in agreement with you! He is very passionate when he sings and plays his guitar !!! He touches my heart and my soul every day I listen to him. I love Clapton too much!!!
This mans ability to move past tragedy and personal challenges, is more so of a testimony as to who he is, than his music. I think this is eric claptons best performance , he has done it all and this piece of his work shows his faithfulness to his craft, absolutely amazing!
You nailed it!! I dunno how he was able to write and perform songs about such tragedies. To me that keeps opening up wounds.. but it's probably his coping mechanic though. And we love him for this .
Who can forget Tears in Heaven. Probably the greatest tragedy in his life. The way he takes the pain, all very personal pain, and creates such music is beyond comprehension.
Today would be my father's 85th birthday and this song feels truly special. Music enables the most powerful connection to my deepest feelings and, at this very moment, Dad, I look into your soul and thank you for the wonderful memories. You will never be missed.
+Tonino Musicalmente Thank you so much for your wonderful thoughts. It is so so wonderful and reassuring to know that there are truly caring people with good hearts still in this world. God bless you and your family!
+Greg Cook Mine died at 13 my mother at the same time. Although I don't know your specific pain I understand the wish just for one moment in time with ones lost.
When you don’t have a big wedding you don’t think about those special moments that you get to enjoy. I lost my father nine years ago this week and I wish we had that father-daughter dance we deserved.
Lost my father today he was 93. It would take too long to tell you about him. He was steady as the rain, dependable. He had kind brown eyes but that wasn't his most obvious characteristic. I felt like I was closer to my Mom but my fathers eye's were always there. Not judging or panicking, rarely crying. They gave me strength.
I lost my Dad this February. He was 92. I thought because of the age it would help with his passing... No. How much wisdom our Dad's have given us? Let us pass this on to future generations the best we can! Loving thoughts Your way 🙏
God bless and Rest In Peace to your father. My wonderful and amazing father passed the other day and I miss him so very much. Looking forward to see into my fathers eyes in Heaven one day again. God bless you Dad, you were/ are the best father a son could ever have. Thank you for being you!!!
My biological father died a year and a half ago. My parents split when I was five I didn't see him again until I was 18. But we still got to make memories as adults. My dad was a good man my step dad too. He's Still alive so at least I have one out of two dads left.
This guy is such a talent. His depth is incredible, especially his songwriting imo.Id say his guitar playing is what most think of first, but its his songwriting that really puts the icing on the cake for me.What a phenomenon this guy is!!

Eric never had a father! BUT a granddad! 👍
And: THEY destroyed the family union.
Yours is a wonderfully worded message.

sometimes a father is absentee by not beeing able to accept his son looking into his eyes
so was my father and I understand, why he was not able to do ....
I am 71 now and I am missing, that he did not allow me to embrace him
but I love him !!!
I am 72 years old and about 6 months ago I started to try to learn how to play slow blues on electric guitar, which I don't think I'll ever be able to do.Istarted to listen and watch Eric Clapton and I'm like several others who have said some of his songs bring me to tears,he is the best ever,I just wish I had started watching his videos earlier in life
Hey, it's never too late! Keep practicing and you will be playing Clapton songs in no time =)
va em frente, o tempo será maravilhoso com voce. abraços
I love Eric clapton so munch they should sit him next to GOD..so I bought a fender Stratocaster Sunburst the thing is could I learn to play it..hmm?
I think it's fantastic that you started to play at 72. Keep it going

Eric, a Masterpiece, a living legend !!!!!....
Clapton guitar playing here is masterful. Excellent band as well. Steve Gadd is second to none. Eric's vocal and the back up vocals are spot on. 👌
You cant beat a song with meaning, this man does it to perfection
Hello @cynthiarichardson4633, I'm glad you're a fan. How are you doing today? It's my pleasure meeting you here. Is this one of your favorite songs?
Love this. I miss my Dad
My 90 year old father passed away last week. I was so blessed to bring home for his final days. I will never forget the last time I looked in my fathers eyes. There was joy. And then he slipped away. I’ll always have our memories, I dedicate this song to the best dad a girl could ever have had.
Beautiful words dear heart. I totally feel you.

Eric Clapton is a man blessed of the Lord! He had a very rough life, been thru hell and here he is playing like never before, has a beautiful family! I admire him as a man and musician!

Easily made my favorite live album she it came out. The best before that was the Allman Brothers at Fillmore East. Know that says a bunch!!

Eric Clapton is one of the nicest people that I have ever worked with. He’s a fine and true gentleman and very generous with his time. His talent is unmatched on this planet. A very cool dude!

You got to be one of the luckiest guys on the planet to have worked with him.
@Slow Cheetah
And what sins have you committed that you regret?
Everyone's done something they are not proud of and wish they could take back...
Yes he's a cool man legend
It’s deep, because he’s talking about his Heavenly Father, earthly father, and his son…his best song ever!!
You can feel the passion in Mr. Clapton's work. Phenomenal man. If this piece of music doesn't touch your heart, something's missing.
Agree
You nailed it!! I dunno how he was able to write and perform songs about such tragedies. To me that keeps opening up wounds.. but it's probably his coping mechanic though. And we love him for this .
Who can forget Tears in Heaven. Probably the greatest tragedy in his life. The way he takes the pain, all very personal pain, and creates such music is beyond comprehension.
One of the greatest performances of his career..epic!
Completely agree. The words and music, the playing, that intro and outro. Commanding. The expression is palpable.
А если бы с отцом рос, мы бы остались без этого шедевра...
Дай бог этому папе ещё таких Эриков... может где-то...
упал...знаю...
The Man who experienced Searching the loss of his child and put it to a Song we all know and love
Today would be my father's 85th birthday and this song feels truly special. Music enables the most powerful connection to my deepest feelings and, at this very moment, Dad, I look into your soul and thank you for the wonderful memories. You will never be missed.
My father's birthday is 5/5 and when I saw what you wrote I thought that was exactly what I would have written if I wrote so well!
помаши в небо, я его вижу из россии.
держись брат, соболезную
My father died when I was 8 years old I am 62 my heart cry's for him till this day! I have always wished I could look into my fathers eyes!!
+Greg Cook I'M SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS.
That is so sad ..wish it could have been different for you. Hope you have children and that you can give them the pleasure you lacked.
+Greg Cook I'm sure our parents are looking to our eyes every single moment...as long as we are thinking to them, are close to us!!
Eric has such passion ❤
There will never be another EC in the world of guitar music and song like him.
Top guy !.
You forget how good Eric Clapton is and then you hear him and it all comes back.
I TOTALLY agree. Eric is absolutely AWESOME 👍
🙏🤝🙄😉💞🙏🤙🤙🤙👌✌🤞😅
He is a great guitarist but his voice is just as good and very under rated
When you don’t have a big wedding you don’t think about those special moments that you get to enjoy. I lost my father nine years ago this week and I wish we had that father-daughter dance we deserved.
Just love his voice & playing he is timeless ❤
Lost my father today he was 93. It would take too long to tell you about him. He was steady as the rain, dependable. He had kind brown eyes but that wasn't his most obvious characteristic. I felt like I was closer to my Mom but my fathers eye's were always there. Not judging or panicking, rarely crying. They gave me strength.
I lost my Dad this February. He was 92. I thought because of the age it would help with his passing... No. How much wisdom our Dad's have given us? Let us pass this on to future generations the best we can! Loving thoughts Your way 🙏
@@lindascarborough5551 hi

God bless and Rest In Peace to your father. My wonderful and amazing father passed the other day and I miss him so very much. Looking forward to see into my fathers eyes in Heaven one day again. God bless you Dad, you were/ are the best father a son could ever have. Thank you for being you!!!
Timeless legend. Now and forever. So many people do not understand this amazing song untill it's too late.Thank you, our beloved Mr. slow hand. ❤️❤️
My biological father died a year and a half ago. My parents split when I was five I didn't see him again until I was 18. But we still got to make memories as adults. My dad was a good man my step dad too. He's Still alive so at least I have one out of two dads left.
I was raised by an adoring step-dad. This song made me appreciate him more than ever ❣❣❣
Always shed a tear when I hear this song. I loved my father more than anything and miss him every day of my life. My hero now and always .

I’m sorry for your loss . . . . .
Me - while the weather changes in my life, I know I can find temporary refuge and shelter in the words and melody of Eric Clapton, before I pass.
There's nobody like Eric Clapton! What a great song and a wonderful performance.
