Eric Clapton was my dad's favorite artists, his favorite that he often sang was tears in heaven. My father's eyes was my favorite when my father pass away. I had a hard time looking at his eyes as I was losing my best friend when he was suffering with cancer. I was pretty young and felt lonely and scared but I looked into dad's eyes and helped him cross over . Dad I love you and God Thank You for bringing me closer to you. Thank you Eric
Yes...my dear father too...he had the most gorgeous eyes...I had to watch him die from cancer too. At least we were there and loved our precious daddy's to the end. Its the best we could do. All we could give. Love.
I can't listen to this song without crying... I didn't have a good relationship with my Father... However, I want to raise my daughter "looking into my father's eyes"...
There will never be another musician who can gather a group like Eric Clapton can!! He takes the time to appreciate the musicians he loves as well as those who love him, and for this I am thankful!!
One and only Eric Clapton , talented, handsome and great singer, guitarist, love love you ,I am so thankful you were around when I was in the good music days!
you could make the argument that he is the greatest ever. He has never done anything that has made me think, " I don't really like that." I can't think of any other artist, group, performer, or whatever that I can say that about. usually I'm thinking, " Man, I really, really like that."
eric never knew his father. he was abandoned by both his parents. this is a very personal and childishly hopeful song. conor, his son, died and he wasn't there to stop it. eric's story is universal and so is this song of searching. eric became a man the day his son fell 53 stories. a working man and a working artist. long road down to up. a bluesman, not someone imitating the blues.
You are fn amazing I have been on the drugs like you and we both got through it all my friend, I would love for you to tour adelaide south austalia, I would give my entire savings account wich is not much more than one thousand dollars Eric Clapton, you are the best guitarist in the world, and always will be there will be very few people that are even close to being the best my friend keep up the rythym and blue's you are a living legend my friend Mark Hastings Austalia
So sorry for your loss of your beautiful son, tears in heaven, is a very personal song for you to even perform, I personally don't know how you don't break down emotionally, but I am sure that you do every day of your life, you are to much of a professional artist to show your emotions whilst performing, keep the blues, and Rock the world my friend, Cheers Mark Hastings
i could have THE WORST DAY at work, then come home and listen to some clapton and it all gets better!! i truly think he's the best musician ever.......
One More Car, One More Rider (the thing this clip is from) is by far the best Clapton live album, and almost certainly my favorite ever live album. It's so well recorded and has the most amazing performances from everyone on stage
Taylor Bailey At times, instrumentally, perhaps, but the lead guitar on the recorded version is incredible. It truly sounds like it’s weeping on the original.
Hi sir Eric Clapton! Today is my 34th birthday and I'm listening to all of your songs specially Wonderful Tonight cause it's my Favorite song of yours. Thank you for being my inspiration and your songs are my calming songs. Your avid fan from Philippines 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Mr. Clapton i have to take this opportunity to say thanks. Thanks for your music and thanks for your emotions, undescribable to most. But those who once get your music, they will never forget again.
Man, Clapton really hit his peak from 1999 to 2007. I haven't seen a bad performance from him at all from those years. Every solo is just blistering. Even his voice is great.
After this Covid shit goes by, my goal is to see Slowhand before he goes, I’m already prepared for the price tag. Saw Tom petty 2 months before he died. That was 120% money well spent.
Man, he has come a such a long way from his younger days. He now has so much fun playing the guitar. he's one of the greatest guitar players ever. Keep on playing, reptile. you're great
I can't listen to this song without crying... I didn't have a good relationship with my Father... However, I want to raise my daughter "looking into my father's eyes"... Thanks Eric !!! 2022 !!
Just passed my 16th birthday, and the sweet sound of Eric Clapton's soulful voice and electric guitar still beats any gift I've had thus far in my life. Thanks Eric.
Si Clapton no es Dios, debe estar muy cerca de Él, pues la exquisita y sublime sensibilidad que tiene con la quitarra no es propia de cualquier "mortal"!!!
No one who believes in God can ever be fatherless. He is the ultimate father to the fatherless, or even if you need a different kind of father than the one you have. God controls it all. No matter what you have, it's what God planned for you, and that is never wrong ❣❣❣
Nonsense. If as you say, "God controls it all. No matter what you have, it's what God planned for you, and that is never wrong", then the implication is (to cite a couple of examples) that if a child is orphaned, kidnapped and sold into slavery in a child-sex trafficking ring, or forced to endure sexual abuse from a close family member/relative ( just two among countless horrific scenarios that children are forced to endure all the time), it cannot be wrong because it's what God planned. If this is really what/how you think, then you're captive to a delusion to the extent you're prepared to believe in a god who - as you implied - cannot be anything other than a psychopath. There's a simpler explanation: Your beliefs are misguided and this god of whom you speak so fondly does not exist.
@@ToddBrittain1963 I respect your understandings and opinions. I will only say that the God I speak of is the one depicted in the Christian Bible,, of which I am a true believer. There, it is explained that we cannot think the thoughts of God. Also, many examples of God’s actions that we may not understand are given. Suffice it to say, God is God, and we quite obviously are not.
Thank you Mr. Eric Clapton for many years of great music. , It will be a lonely place without you and your music. You are an inspiration to me and I'm sure to so many others too. You are the most true and sincere guitar player and a singer, we never have enough of your talent and performance. Your band and your drummer are awesome playing My Father's Eyes.
Best thing that after the concert he propably sits in the car in the same shirt and drive to home/hotel. The point is he don't need any special effects, shiny things. He play, he sing and he do it the best in the world.
This means so much to me...my Father use to listen to this song with me...He has passed but I can still look into my Father's eyes and sometimes...cry...love this song!
I knew my father. And wrote a song partly about him and I won a BMI award for it. I got a chance to play it for him in front of a large crowd . Tears all around.
This is a man that understands humanity. When I'm down I throw him on, and I feel better. That's what being a great musician is all about, being one myself, being able to tap into the great unknown, affect people in such a beautiful way. Eric, still wonderful. And he has grown as an artist. I've seen that just in my lifetime, and I'm only 31. It's an amazing process to watch.
Thank you Eric, been following you since 1967. I have been lucky to have aged into my 70’s with you. Not too many like you and have been privileged to see you a few times.
Fifteen years that 've been listening to this version of "My father's eyes" and it's still simply wonderful! All the solos in this song are IMHO really inspired, but the longer final solo is one of the best ever played by Eric Clapton: I'll never be tired of playing it on my guitar. Thank You Mr. "Slowhand" for your music!
Simply, the magician is here !!! Dear Eric, still grow with you from the "no credit" solo of "While My Guitar", your solo years, (1970), 'till today and also looking forward... Wish you and fa all the best.
the first minute in this song where he does that soft guitar solo with the soft piano in the back.... tears of admiration. i felt like a baby who finally learned how to walk.... it was that enchanting!
Ahhhh, such wonderful music to my ears. Music from my youth carried over.....I'm now 61. Clapton has only gotten better, love him and I still sway to his music! Wonderful, thank you so much!
Stunning! There's been times in my life when I have needed to look into my fathers eyes, sadly he wasnt interested..so, if you have a good father please let them know you love and appreciate them...its a hard road without them.
los ojos de mi padre, eran verdes, y de pestañas negras tan largas, y cuando nació mi hijo se volvieron a repetir en él mi amor , mi hijo LIAN. y me vino ala mente con este tema del maestro.
He would strongly disagree with your assessment of him. He is quite aware of where his musical talent, as well as his sobriety, came from. I urge you to listen to his various AA speeches for a clearer understanding of who he is.
i love it how he 'feels' the notes he's playing. He's injoying his own playing and that is one of the most important things within music making. great job!!
I've always loved this version of my father's eyes. I've always enjoyed this performance in particular, it was just executed so perfectly. These guys have been playing together for a very long time 💯
4:20 Billy starts with organ, followed Erik's divine guitar and pulsating bass of Nathan East and the staccato Steve Gadd's drums, just launched me into the stratosphere with goose bumps, damn i don't wanna get back down there !

So glad to see this version back. Listened to this song so many times in the days following my dad's death...brings a smile to my face whenever I hear it. TY EC!!
Amazing, my father looked into my eyes when I was two years old then he died and I have never been able to look into his - maybe I will be able to in that next place.
The best version of My Father‘s Eyes in my opinion.
Clapton is like a very god red wine, age only makes it better!
The most gifted guitar player ever. I listen to him all day. Never grow tired of him

That TONE!
This version is so much better than the recorded one. Plus just seeing him makes it all the better.

I have heard version that was a bit like reggae. Very nice as well 😊

ALL SAFETY & SAVED WELL HERE!
I know a professional guitarist who is in awe of Clapton's playing. He states that you only see a small fraction of his musicianship when he performs.

Eric Clapton ... one of the greatest musicians of our time!
What an absolute legend! Everything from Songwriting to that adventure ride of a solo is pure brilliance!

True that
I've never seen a video of him not bringing it and playing his heart out. Just a super talent and ear for the guitar.
1987-1989: August and Journeyman
Thank you guys.
