+“VodkaPot” Dave McGarry Really thank you for posting this comment. Really.
+A for Anyone Or thanks Simon Pegg ;) What an amazing concert, I love the way this version builds. I've just watched the Darkstar video, highly recommend if you havent yet .
+Jackjude I hadn't realised. I saw it in a random tweet and it just works to help us all get through this sad time. I have credited the original tweeter.
Blackstar is very very good. Lazarus is a fitting final swansong.
Jackjude I've watched it when it first came out. And yesterday, i watched the Lazarus video for the first time before i go to sleep, thinking that he lost so much weight and looks old unlike he looked 3 years ago. This morning was a hell to me. Weird.

Having a night with him in April in a time when I am grateful we can watch his performances and see what a brilliant artist he was through his music and also his performance of that music. What a wonderful medium we have to capture lightning in a bottle.
My Kids do too, so we got at least one more generation!

His joy following his hilarious low key opening- wow
Karliene yeah man. For sure.
For 69 years. 16 years for me, still miss him, tho...
Especially since Bowie could have lived in any universe or galaxy and felt at home.
Bowie returned to space. What a gift he was for the human race.
Just needed a bit of water for his home world. And look at all the beauty we received freely. Amazing.

The only artist that had me crying when he passed away.
I agree
He passed away today eight years ago and one radio station in NZ that I listen to commemorated his passing by playing this song today. So appropriate and respectful.
He had his very own, individual style
8 years 😢 nothing like the loss of people to push you through the years 🥺

"a gift to the world" indeed
Born to be on THAT STAGE.
I can't imagine Bowie anywhere but up on a stage. It was his destiny. How many of us can say that? Lucky man.

The world lost a legend when Bowie moved on.
2024 and have not listened to Bowie for a while. Forgot how good he was at his best.
He looks so happy here. Just beautiful
Always.
Because he was singing this song, in the city where it was written and meant so much to him and the Berliners. Since he sang it at the wall and the east Germans were on the other side singing it with him. After the fall of the wall, every concert he had in Berlin afterwards, he knew they were now there with him, singing it together. He said himself, singing Heroes anywhere else in the world, did not give him the same feeling as it did in Berlin. David loved Berlin, just as much as Berlin loved David.
I went to see Bowie in Berlin in the early 80s. Little Red Shoe Tour, if I'm not mistaken. Great show!
This version of Heroes is his best version of the song. I can watch it over and over it is so good.
I agree, the best
Yes, I agree with you. There is a another version by Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode) : a beautiful voice ! Bien cordialement.
True
It's my favorite!!
It gets in yor bones....awesome
He just got better and better amen
The closing minute of this song is David at his best… singing his heart out and feeling every moment… turn it up!
That dude was so great. I watched him in Philadelphia at the electric factory in the 90s, and he just kept saying do you have a little time? He went through his whole history musically. I was about eight rows from the stage maybe less, and I felt like I was levitating. At that point I was completely sober for about 6 years. He saved my life creatively in a lot of ways.
I was at the same concert. His stage manager had been in my cab and didnt have enough cash for a tip so he gave me tickets.
@@BK-qn9gi that was the best tip you ever got huh? I mean I wanted to my brother to go with me on the second night they were selling tickets at those ticket sales places for $40. He didn't want to go boy was tat a mistake. That was actually the third time I saw him one time he was at the spectrum and it was really bad bad sound system and he seemed all really tired and it wasn't very good at all. Then I saw him again at the spectrum during the let's dance tour and it was a lot better, he was in good shape than working out and all of that. But that show at the electric factory it was probably the best concert I've ever seen and I've been to a lot of them he was really on and looked great I'm really glad I went to that to this day.

+helipilot 55 isn't so old anymore. Music keeps you young. Just look at all the "old rockers" still around !
A true shaman, in the form of a visionary musician. He seems to look into us, through space at the unseen, where he raised many spirits, showed us our own shadows, our divinity, commonality and restored us to what otherwise may have been lost. Great artists do leave their treasure. How lucky we are to be able to relive it again and again.
I was 12 years old in 1976 and even at that age his sound caught me ear. I said to meself “this guy is different “ Twas the golden years and fame era.bless him and bless you all .
I am sitting here in my flat in Berlin, not far from the Wall, and listen to this wonderful performance...I cannot emphasise enough how life-changing David Bowie's music has been to me and a lot of my friends. I am 55 years now, and David would have been 77 a few days earlier, and still discover new tiny aspects in his music and simply enjoy it. What a chance we have to live today and be able to still listen to his music.

Bowie at his BEST! This has to be his best live video. If you watch it a few times, you'll see it is far superior to the original video, this is passionate, strong, and he truely feels this song, doesn't at just sing it. He's dressed impeccably, his band is awesome. Everyone on stage is having FUN! He left us his legacy, thru his music. He's sending a message, listen to his words. RIP David, we love you,! Vallie

Do you know that David Bowie's performance of 'Heroes' on 6/6/1987, at the German Reichstag in West Berlin has been considered a catalyst to the later fall of the Berlin Wall. Following his death in Jan 2016, the German government thanked Bowie for "helping to bring down the Wall", adding "you are now among Heroes"

Among other things she said: "He was also very funny. He had an incredible sense of humor, very witty and quick. He could have been a comedian."

awesome. David would be proud.
the day Bowie died, i was stunned: none of us even knew he'd been ill. i didn't know what to do. so that evening, feeling quite alone, i found myself taking the tube to Brixton. ah of course - duh - many hundreds of fans had had the sae idea. it was like a family reunion: everyone (the old and the very young) looked you in the eye, shaking their heads, shrugging, tearful. so many people hugged me that night. candles and bowie-inspired graffiti art everywhere. and groups of people huddling, improvising his songs on many streets. some guy finished playing a song and offered me his guitar. err... well, this song (Heroes) was the only one I was confident I would remember all the chords to, so i started playing...and I was soon joined by a girl (young woman) with a small violin and a guy on a tuba! and then maybe 70 to 100 people singing along. i think we stretched it out for maybe 11 minutes. from where i stood, it sounded like the best cover of Heroes ever. i never found it on youtube, but it's a moment i'll never forget.
Thanks for sharing man!

I went to grab something to eat, instead of making a left, to eat with the building staff, I made a right. Looked different. Grabbed a plate. Sat down. This guy came over next to me and asked if he could sit down. You got it. I looked up and saw Bowie towering over me. I flashed a huge smile and just said, "of course". Initially, he thought I worked for Pepsi (the show's sponsor, because I was wearing the suit, but when I told him I worked for the ticketing company (not TM), he talked to me like I was an old friend. A neighbor. One of the most decent and genuine people on the planet. A true great guy. And a great talent that will live on in his music. As we can attest to now.
nice to know that he treated the little people good!! thanks for sharing

Awesome experience to be touched by an angel in a human manner !!
@@dimvogaz7627 And I could tell how real he was. I could tell he got a kick out of star strucking (new word?) someone! Saw many artists. The bad I won't give names out, but the stars like Bowie and Eric Clapton, the Stones and The Who, you'd think they would be horrible after so many years of this but they still seemed like little kids playing.
@@tedhawver3564 Add Led Zeppelin, Mozart, Prince, Picasso to the circle!! and yes totally agree: They were and still are pure, like when they first started...I think this is the definition of a true artist after all.! :-)
he's having the time of his life in this video
Yes he is! Merry Christmas, my new Bulldog Pal! Great post!
Everyone in that huge stadium was.
I'm 13 and enjoy this song like it just came out. This only proves his greatness. 🫡
Good for you kid! I'm 70 and enjoyed David's music all my life...my suggestion is check 1983's "Let's Dance," and you will love it if you don't already...met my wife that year. Enjoy your youth and rock on Garth!!!

Hello Susan, how are you doing!!!!!?
Musicians don't ever die. They simply become their music.
Well said.
You couldn't have said it better
An absolute legend.
*correction*
an absolute God !
Totally!
The day David passed away, I published a drawn public animation of his so many incarnations, expressing my sorrow feelings. My older sis, a sad christian evangelist, commented that "C'mon, he was just another devil inspired singer". Showes you...
I'm 65, listened to his music all my life. Sis' comments hurt me almost as deep as our Thin Duke's death.
To this day, I cannot listen to his Opus album. Saw his Black Star video once.
The only confort I may get is, IF afterlife exist - witch I doubt...- Jimmy, Janis, Roy, George, Tom, Richard Wright and David are having a ball making music. RIP, dear friends.
Do you have a link to check it out?
I will try to find it...
God I miss Bowie.
