Jaggers performance here was 100%. No performer in the history of performers could possibly give more of a performance than what he gave in this video. Bravissimo
@@bullridermusic2054 All right, I will challenge you. A) First of all, you have to agree to keep your mind open. And then, you have to do exactly as I'm asking you to do, and then I want you to give me your honest opinion. B) Watch the following videos in their official live version or any other decent live version. C) Compare that live version Jagger here doing "sympathy for the devil" live - in front of his friends, John , Yoko, and a bunch of others. This is a very, very private performance where he is giving himself 100%. but the whole thing was planned because you can see where they marked his body up. In Sympathy They're doing an early version of a music television video before MTV was a thing. They are reenacting a pagan ritual and talking about having sympathy for the devil and him saying, "what's my name, what's my name, what's my name. " And the idea is that people are going to call out, "Lucifer." In other words he's basically acting out a pagan ceremony to call out Lucifer. And Jagger's saying that the way you can meet Lucifer is to have some sympathy, some respect, or he'll go lay your soul to waste. Thats so much deeper than "Crazy Little Thing called Love," unless you are going to argue Freddy was singing to Lucifer. Not. If ever there was a message that the devil wanted to give you if you wanted to dial him up and talk directly to him, I'm pretty sure Mic Jagger got it right. Nevertheless, D) Listen to Freddie mercury singing live, "play the game. E) Answer yourself the question, "what does Freddie mercury mean by the game" and isn't that probably the best live performance of Freddie mercury in his prime? I think I know what he's singing about- shallow sex with random people. Ok, what difference does it make. A love song, ding-dong, ho-hum, ratta-tat-tat, buulshit. Is that the best life performance of Freddie mercury? compare that to sympathy for the devil? No comparison in terms of depth. F) Then, go find Todd Rundgren singing live, "the meaning of the verb to love. " There's lots of different versions of Todd singing that so I'm not sure what the best one is. But Todd Rundgren is using every muscle in his speech mechanism to crank out as much complex noises as his speech mechanism is capable of doing and he's absolutely ignoring the fact that he looks a little bit weird and dorky when he's doing it - just like Jagger does. I agree, that Freddie mercury gave it 100%. And it's a tough call between Freddie mercury and Mick Jagger. But I think Jagger in this performance in his private audience gave 100% and I don't believe it's possible to give more than 100%. 100% is everything you have. If you can find a video were you believe that Freddie mercury gave 100%, and it's better than this, put it up or ... By the way, I think Bon Scott singing "Long Way," live on the back of a moving flat bed playing bagpipes is better than anything Freddie mercury ever sang- except for Bohemian Rhapsody, the studio version. And I love Freddie mercury. Just my opinion. I got to watch Bon Scott sing - it was awesome. Rip But, of course, this sll means zilch if your teenage fantasy was to grow up and look, act, and sing like Whitney Houston (or Freddy Mercury) then ... well... may the Force be in you.

They were all very talented, but also "high as hell" on something. Back then people were doing psychedelic drugs, heavy laced pot, and others street drugs. It wasn't alcohol. I was barely out of high school when Mick Jagger & Rollingstones were big here in the USA. ALSO, the BEATLES were big in the USA. Although I was partying with many hippie types back then, I didn't touch street drugs and I wasn't a "pot head" either. The music of the 1960's, 1970's, 1980's was very interesting compared to today's music. I loved Jimmy Hendrix music, Janis Joplin, and a few other big name groups from England and our country USA. I ENJOYED ALL THEIR MUSIC BACK THEN. 😆🤪🤩
To think this is from a concert in 1968 just blows me away! Thanks to all the Rolling Stones for the fantastic music all these years it has helped me get through life's ups and downs.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I met my wife and married her when we were very young. We were also very young parents, and in the beginning I struggled trying to find a job to pay for us all. I got into a plumbing apprenticeship by the grace of God when we needed it most, and this is one of the anthems of my life. I just wanted a humble and stable life, and make sure we'd all be ok. I'm now 48 with 27 and 23 year old sons that have grown into incredible, smart, talented young men. I credit my wife for a lot of it, but I'm happy that I could be there to help when I could.

This performance was at the end of the movie, and was filmed after midnight. The band, film crew were pretty spent by then. A few even suggested they all get an hour or two of sleep before filming the final segment. Mick Jagger reportedly was adamantly opposed to the idea.

Don't get enough credit?? Dude, what are you on, my friend? I'd like some! 😁 Seriously, they are EASILY considered by most to be one of the top 2 or 3 co-songwriters of all time. Especially when discussing classic rock, or 1960's counterculture. Second only to maybe Lennon/McCartney and often considered above them when specifically discussing classic rock. Also, second to Lennon/McCartney, they are the most SUCCESSFUL songwriting duo. That's just a simple fact. So not enough credit for you? Or do you just not really know what you're talking about? If the latter is true, well no worries mate; you obviously are at least a casual fan if not more, so you're off to a good start! 👍😁👍
I think you can get pretty close to objectivity by saying they aren't simply because all of their their albums aren't brilliant cover to cover. Yes I agree, but Freddie Mercury begs to differ
“It’s A Man’s World” by James Brown
Yes, Jagger in this performance freaked me out too!
@@bullridermusic2054
All right, I will challenge you.
And the idea is that people are going to call out, "Lucifer."
In other words he's basically acting out a pagan ceremony to call out Lucifer.
Nevertheless,
D) Listen to Freddie mercury singing live, "play the game.
There's lots of different versions of Todd singing that so I'm not sure what the best one is.
Rip
But, of course, this sll means zilch if your teenage fantasy was to grow up and look, act, and sing like Whitney Houston (or Freddy Mercury) then ... well... may the Force be in you.
Its where Michael Jackson got his "woo hoo, woo hoo hoo" line from
