I’m going on 70, and having grown up with their music, and many others, it makes me so happy that I’m of the Baby Boomer generation! I admit that I can appreciate a lot of the music from back then MORE NOW, esp when they have lyrics that imo are more meaningful and relevant today than when 1st released. For example: Neil Young’s Cortez the Killer (Crazy Horse version, plus the ones by Warren Haynes and the DMB), Simon and Garfunkel’s Sound of Silence (although I never liked it by them and still don’t, BUT the one ‘covered’ by David Draiman (from Disturbed, known as being a ‘heavy metal’ band no less!). I loved 💗 his solo, black and white video performance of it so much that I requested it to be played at my funeral! This was just to name a couple of many more!

@evolunter Well, sometimes boys wore girls' clothing back then, just like girls both then and now wear boy's clothing sometimes. They weren't averse to a floral blouse if it looked good on them. Mick famously wore a white dress to the Stones' free concert in Hyde Park.
But loads of places in London, like Carnaby Street, the King's Road in Chelsea, the Beatles' Apple Boutique in Marylebone, and the Kensington Market were all crammed with beautiful stuff for both men and women. There was a little place in Soho somewhere that made (or had made for them) and sold the most gorgeous skin tight, crushed velvet bell-bottoms, in a rainbow of colour choices, for both sexes. They couldn't make them fast enough to keep up with demand. Another shop in the same area sold stinky but beautiful goatskin Afghan coats.
Fun Fact: all those exotic, beautiful clothes smelt of patchouli oil, because a lot of the cotton and silk fabrics they used to make them from were shipped over from India, where the oil was used as moth repellent. Then all the hip young people in England thought this strange new smell was kind of cool and started using it as perfume... Yes folks, we were using moth repellent as perfume.. Life was one big experiment! :-)

Yes, the stones were probably at their peak around this period, but Brian Jones not so much. It’s clear to see by the way he looks and how he’s performing onstage that this wasn’t his finest hour. Jones wasn’t bothered about the stones at this point and no longer enjoyed it. Drugs and alcohol had taken over his life. As a result the man was found dead in his own swimming pool only a year later, after supposedly ‘overdosing’.

I think they’re referring to Mick dating teenage girls, as did many rock stars back then. It was a different time, it wasn’t considered a heinous offence for an adult male to date a teenaged female.

@Celtic FC Europa League Winner 2020 why you so mad bro, i'm not going to lie ya know rockstars were shady af and they all probably fucked teens since a pretty common thing they did was to never ask what age the girls were (didnt matter if they looked like a 40 year old mom) cuz that was how they avoided trouble but haha we are not listening to this fucking song because we are pro pedos or some shit like that lol we really just vibin

I've been rewatching House M.D. which is one of my all-time favorite series, I've thought a lot about this song, listening to the lyrics I see why it fits the series and it's tone, and it's true, sometimes what we want isn't always needed, you just can't simply please everyone.
I know this comment came a day after, but happy 80th Mick Jagger.

@@michaelcorcoran8768 this doesn't seem lipsynched. The recorded version of this song has like, a choir and an orchestra backing them up, this is a more stripped down live version. They're just good performers, and it was probably well-prodixed since it was meant for tv.

Sorry it didn’t work out, but better to end it before you get too messed up. I’m 20 years married to the man who was my best friend and my boss, (on a fish farm in the Scottish highlands), and has been a true rock to me after I had a psychotic breakdown in 2009. He’s had to deal with finding me close to death after I decided to check-out from life - he’s a paramedic and he also was the one called to my dad when he suddenly died. So, yeah, when you find the right person it’s great and it usually happens when you stop actively looking for that special one. I truly believe there’s someone for everyone and having the balls to end something when you feel you’re with the wrong person is something many people don’t do and they suffer for it. I wish you all the happiness in the world x
