I’ve tried to be a Jimmy hater since I first saw him on tv, but this one interview stole my heart. Didn’t kiss up, this was sincere love and respect for my favorite guitar player in the world 🥰
One of my favourite things about Keith isn’t that he is the epitome of cool, is that he once joined a March to save his local NHS hospital in Chichester and despite being at the front of the march, he wasn’t interviewed by the press as he said others would be better at it than him. Truly cool people have no ego

What tough struggles he had 😂 I've read his autobiography. Other than some legal trouble he almost got into, he been fine. Also like, smoking cigarettes up until a few years ago? Thats insane. By the way, the Stones were one of Michael’s most favorite groups, he and they were really good friends…the only English giant before the stones are the Beatles, after six years the Beatles were musically dead, but the stones have been a powerhouse since the first time they stepped on stage!
@@tedbogan6099 Yet the ruler of their homeland choose Black Sabbath as the most significant band to come from England and that's because they kept progressing, the stones were true innovators of rock but never grew much, Sabbath still is developing new music, true musicians- Can't argue with the Queen!!
That’s probably why he wanted Keith on the show so he could show how good he imitates Mick. I think Jimmy secretly always wanted to be a rockstar but it wasn’t in the cards.
I like how Jimmy showcased Keith's amazing talent. Instead of Keith just showing some riffs Jimmy used the Roots and his own ability to impersonate Mick and put some vocals to the riffs. You can truly see Keith's face light up when Jimmy started to sing. Priceless.
Drummer here. I have played electric guitar for about 15 years or 20 years of my life. This clip shows Keith is a monster guitarist. He immediately gets great tone, dynamics, rhythm and timing. Plus he enjoys it so much! I am so glad my grandchildren will someday be able to watch Keith Richards perform live.
Best band EVER in the history of bands!!! I remember when the Stones first came to America and can't imagine music without them. May they all live to be 100. I adore them all. Icing on the cake is Jimmy channeling Mick 😄.
Jumpin Jack Flash isn’t even played in Open G which makes his on the spot improvisation on national television all the more impressive. Keef is another level of cool.
This is very true. I've been playing in a modestly successful Stones cover band for five years and although the other guitarist and l have mastered all the licks, we still fall short getting the feel at times. There's something ironclad about Keith's timing that's elusive.
It’s interesting to see his right hand technique in this video. I think I’d have to unlearn a lot of what I think of as “correct” movement to play these riffs. He’s very loose and uneconomical with his hand motion. It’s so relaxed and yet when he strikes the note it’s at the perfect point in the beat. It’s interesting to hear how questlove is struggling a bit to lock in to the beat but Richards just grooves on without missing anything. It’s honestly more impressive than any guitar shredder I’ve seen.
We all were young and vibrant in the past, and I love that Keith Richards is still doing his thing in 2023! We are still the same person inside even when the outside changes:)
Wow, Jimmy. Excitement levels through the ceiling. You got to "perform" live with the great Keith Richards. Something to brag about. I have watched this many times and, say what you like, Keith is definitely an all time legend
I saw the Stones live once, and loved every minute of it. II was about twenty; the year was about 1971-2 and Mick Taylor had joined to play guitar. He was impressive and solid, meshed right in with Keith and Mick and the band. They played songs from Sticky Fingers and Let It Bleed, plus Sympathy for the Devil from Beggars Banquet. I enjoyed the concert so much that it took me a week to stop smiling.
Greatest rock ‘n roll band of all times, bar none. 60 years later (!!!) and still legends cranking out albums. Jagger and Richards are the prototypical rockstars and defined the genre.
And they've got another tour coming up. A few of us got lucky and landed seats in Seattle. I've been very fortunate as far as going to Stones concerts and concerts in general!
He put the living in living legend. They never get old. The sound is still fresh even though they’ve been at it for 62 years. They are fabulous, live…..
It's hard to find. But there is a video to promote a charity that Jimmy Fallon did with Mick Jagger. Fallon basically tells Mick he needs to act more like Mick Jagger and out Mick Jagger's Mick Jagger in front of Mick Jagger. It's very funny. 😁
Big fan of the Rolling Stones. Keith is still a Rock Star along with the rest of his band mates and they are all over 75/80 years. That's amazing that they are still putting out great music.
I saw the Stones at Soldier Field in Chicago, back in 1977 and I remember thinking , these guys are old. I was 17, and here I am watching Keith play guitar in the year 2023.
Removing a string is one thing, but to have a guitar made without the whole course; tuner, nut, neck, & bridge all tailored, is a mark of a man of wealth and taste who's been around for a long, long year.
Keith's recognition of Andrés Segovia says a lot about him and his incredible guitar and artistic tastes. Segovia, as well as Paco de Lucia, have been the greatest geniuses playing any guitar... while Keith took rock and roll (and also blues) to its maximum.
Yes, it is. But maybe Paco and Andres wouldn't have been able to compose these great modern songs if they had been Rock 'n Roll guitarists!! It never knows. Each one has his own abilities!!
When you look back at the Rolling Stones catalog (of songs), it is staggering and just about overwhelming. All the songs on the vinyl stuff (from my memory), all had "Jagger/ Richards" under the title. Simply amazing.
Segovia, was a classical guitar player, genius classical guitar player. The differences between the two styles are "stunning" some would say using a sports analogy, they are different as tennis is to bowling, keeping in mind Keith Richard's gut wrenching piledriving riffs. One chord, and you know it's the Stones, like one note and you know it's Santana, there's not a whole lot of them out there either.
@@roadrocket7 Blues... Let's not forget Paul McCartney called the Stones, "a blues cover band", when comparing the Beatles to the Rolling Stones, also saying, "they are not in the same class". Ah, the love and not quite hate relationships among successful musicians.

I’ve tried to be a Jimmy hater since I first saw him on tv, but this one interview stole my heart. Didn’t kiss up, this was sincere love and respect for my favorite guitar player in the world 🥰
@@deanbell4070 The Show Band were right there with them too, in tribute. Filling out the sound and rhythm - a beautiful thing!
When Keith Richards plays the guitar, my heart swells 🎸❤️
🌷🌷🌷💖💖💖🥲
In that case you need to put your health first. Stop listening to his guitar playing and acquire some blood pressure tablets.
This was the Best interview with Keith Richards that I have watched.
He doesn’t put on airs, he’s just a dude who plays guitar and had a little success along the way, down to earth!
"I know I can do it, I just don't know how." That's what pop music misses these days...
Keith Richards is the essence of cool!!!
yes at 80 years old bless his heart love himmmmmmmmmmmm
Highly overrated though (his band as well)...

Watched that band get booed off stage back in the 1970s. They were the opener.
One of my favourite things about Keith isn’t that he is the epitome of cool, is that he once joined a March to save his local NHS hospital in Chichester and despite being at the front of the march, he wasn’t interviewed by the press as he said others would be better at it than him. Truly cool people have no ego
He wasn’t interviewed because he wasn’t get paid!!
@@pmckillion82 I can think of many more likely reasons than him not getting paid.
Thanks for that random , little known, and virtually unproveable account (Seriously???).
STFU, and just admit he's one VERY COOL MOFO!
Keith - absolute legend. Talent does what it can, but genius does what it must.
Man...he's had arthritis for decades and he still kills that guitar. Not to mention all the other hurdles in his life. True musician.
Hurdles? Dudes been stoned since 1965, got to do the best drugs on the planet, travel the world, ejaculate inside random women every night. Yeah poor guy. What tough struggles he had 😂
I've read his autobiography. Other than some legal trouble he almost got into, he been fine. Also like, smoking cigarettes up until a few years ago? Thats insane. Good for him
Yes, and his swag at 80 is soooo cooool! Even sitting in the chair playing the body language just oozes rock guitarist rock icon rock god! The dude is what Michael Jackson calls Bad! By the way, the Stones were one of Michael’s most favorite groups, he and they were really good friends…the only English giant before the stones are the Beatles, after six years the Beatles were musically dead, but the stones have been a powerhouse since the first time they stepped on stage!

Yet the ruler of their homeland choose Black Sabbath as the most significant band to come from England and that's because they kept progressing, the stones were true innovators of rock but never grew much, Sabbath still is developing new music, true musicians-
Can't argue with the Queen!!
I can’t watch this enough. He is so unassuming, but he is running the whole show and it’s pure joy. Thank you for posting
Jimmy Fallon's impersonation of Mick Jagger's voice is spot on!
That’s probably why he wanted Keith on the show so he could show how good he imitates Mick. I think Jimmy secretly always wanted to be a rockstar but it wasn’t in the cards.
@@GigiCorrado1Jimmy is better at music then comedy
One person who was even better at impersonating Mick, was David Bowie!
Is it tho? I'm not there with ya.
for real!i was impressed
Love how quickly Keith and the audience sync together. He is so good.
Keith is a "pure genius" of rhythm guitar. Simply the best. Bless you, Keith!
What a blessing during these terrible times in the world you can see what music can do and is if it’s real ❤️🙏🏼☮️❤️
I like how Jimmy showcased Keith's amazing talent. Instead of Keith just showing some riffs Jimmy used the Roots and his own ability to impersonate Mick and put some vocals to the riffs. You can truly see Keith's face light up when Jimmy started to sing. Priceless.
Keiths face looked more like wtf is this guy doing trying to impersonate the greatest Front Man ever.

Love Keith Richards, one laid back and very talented man!
His groove is so in the pocket. It’s insane. You can play the same notes but you can’t get that feel. It’s unique.
Something the Joe Satriani fans can’t get their head round
True. It's uncanny. The first two bars of honky tonk women have that stones groove, and he's just playing the open strings with his right hand.
flash was a bit rusty though :)
We all were young and vibrant in the past, and I love that Keith Richards is still doing his thing in 2023! We are still the same person inside even when the outside changes:)
Hi
Great respect to Keith Richards in this interview! Love the new album! Thank you for the music Dude!!
I remember when i was a kid my friend Jerry and Trevi always sang honki tong women .... Their stage is full of fans 🎉🎉🎉
Keith is a living legend and if I didn't see Jimmy singing I'd swear it was mick , his impression of mick is the best in the business
You should see his Johnny Cash , now that is impressive. Cheers.
God, the life this guy had. May he live on forever

Don't watch much Late night TV anymore but I can say 2 things. Keef is a legend and Jimmy Fallon can imitate so many rock stars that it is amazing.
I hope keith lives forever!!!!
Effected me the same way when I saw them at the huge Municipal Stadium in Cleveland Ohio!
How can one be anything less than forever in grateful awe of his talent, persona, and tunes? What a magnificent treat.
He’s right. The greats don’t know how they do it, because it’s just pure, natural, raw talent.
I expected Keith to be phenomenal, but Jimmy's Mick Jagger was very well done! 🤯
i wonder if mick is seeing this?
🤣❤
There is no one like Keith Richards, the coolest.
Greatest rock ‘n roll band of all times, bar none. 60 years later (!!!) and still legends cranking out albums. Jagger and Richards are the prototypical rockstars and defined the genre.
The rolling stones is a great band but not the greatest band. 27 vs 8

It's hard to find. But there is a video to promote a charity that Jimmy Fallon did with Mick Jagger. Fallon basically tells Mick he needs to act more like Mick Jagger and out Mick Jagger's Mick Jagger in front of Mick Jagger. It's very funny. 😁

P.S. - Forgot to say that a lot if the Stones records had covers of blues artists also.
