Great video all around but I feel like you missed how Eagles players regularly didn’t know what the play call was when the ball was snapped. There were screens were the running back didn’t know it was a screen and just stood there forcing Wentz to take a sack. That is inexcusable and falls squarely on the shoulders of Peterson. (I’m a bills fan so no bias here)
Carson didn’t go “rogue” the “pissing match” article said he would occasionally audible and “kill kill” also pertains to line/protection changes. Doug just did a poor job at calling plays and it didn’t help that he said Sanders would get tired during games thus limiting his touches. So Carson had to throw basically all game with his #1 being a college QB with Ertz out and unenthused due to his contract dispute. He was the only one reprimanded for his play while Peters dictated his snaps after demanding a pay raise to move from guard to LT. People will say Carson was the leader and deserved the most scrutiny, but he gets no credit for the SB run whereas in the following year Foles sucked on the road. We would not have won w/o homefield AND a first round bye. That was Carson.
I think that at least from an athleticism standpoint, Wentz still has it. I don't see the decline in athleticism at all, in fact I think he looked the most athletically capable this season since the 2017 year. It was the arm, decision making, mechanics, and play calling that let him down
Ranked well, and the first is 80% of the reason. Football fans love to talk and talk and make up junk. It really comes down to the O-line. The history of the NFL is littered with the corpses of QB's without a credible O-line. A Ferrari is useless, unless some heavy equipment lays down the asphalt. Amirite?!
He will win them a division title minimum this year. That’s usually what happens whenever we lose players to another team. They go out and be a star somewhere else.

The fall of Carson in Philly. 1. Howie can't draft receivers. 2. Eagles can't develope receivers 3. O-line is aged and overrated 4. Terrible run game as a product of overrated o-line.
Because it happened twice, after that 2018 playoff run there was an article that joked that every December the Eagles have to sacrifice Wentz to power up Foles.
The truth is, the Eagles offensive line fell apart , no protection for Wentz. The Eagles played 14 different 0 lines, and they all failed. Glad he was finally traded for a fresh start with the Colt's. I'm sure he'll bounce back.
dude was playing like trash the first quarter of the season before all the o line changes. Even with the changes they finished middle of the pack in QB pressures. Just another excuse.
Here's my answer: He was never that good in the first place. The team in 2017 was simply so unbelievably stacked around him that even a slightly worse journeyman QB (Foles) could comfortably win games in the playoffs.
This is perhaps the best analysis of tragic Wentz saga in Philadelphia. The biggest mystery that we can only speculate on is how much Wentz was psychologically affected by Nick Foles SB win and subsequent crowning as the true Savior of Philly (they built a statue of the guy), as well as the cumulative effects of the major injuries he has suffered in a short time, and the eventual drafting of Jalen Hurts. Obviously we know they have had some effect, but the real question that may never be answered is, to what degree did they affect him?
I'm not a Philadelphia Eagles fan, but, I'm willing to go out on a limb & say "It wasn't completely Carson Wentz's fault that the 2020-2021 Philadelphia Eagles were a bad team.". In my opinion, it was a host of other things--not just Carson Wentz.
Let’s see if you get it. I’ve yet to hear anybody question the last play of Carson’s career where he was still good. December of 2019, Carson got his first (and last) ticket to the playoffs, and he did make that happen more or less on his own. Within five plays, a tackled, prone, and very down Carson Wentz receives an entirely legal flying headbutt to the back of the head. He leaves the game super concussed, and never plays at the same level again. Fans did not get updates about recovery and severity they would normally get during the season. I can’t say it made him bad or messed something up, but it was the end of good.
Great Video once again, I love how you talk about that stuff without being mean or rude or any of that. Fan of the teams/players you are talking about more often than not feel that you've been fair in your assessments. And, people that do care a lot about the team/player are drawn in by your quality analyses and can draw parallels to their team or favorite players.
He went to just as bad a situation in Indy, with trash pass protection and 1 semi-reliable target and it led to 27 Tds and only 7 Ints and his first WR to ever break 1000 yards(Ertz at TE was the only other 1k yard pass catcher he's ever had). In Washington, he's gonna have an O-line that finished within the top 5 in pass pro last season, Terry Mclaurin, a WR that's been hovering around elite play for 3 years with 7 different B-tier QBs, Curtis Samuel who's like Deebo-Lite, Dyami Brown that had his rookie season crippled by Heinicke's noodle arm, but is Tailor -made for Wentz style and a 1st round WR in Jahan Dotson, who was like Chris Olave, with better hands and more physicality after the catch, also he didn't have Wilson or Smith-Njigba drawing the top defenders away from him so he had to get open on his own and carry a bad QB and a whole offense He's got solid TEs, a good enough run game with 2 good pass catching backs. Wentz is gonna show that he didn't fall off, the teams around him were just too heavy to carry.
He had arguably the best rb in the league and just needed to not suck ass against the paltry jaguars to make the playoffs. he totally blew it. I'm not saying he can't succeed in Washington, but to pretend like the Colts weren't any good last year is laughable
You can’t say that after the fact. Especially when both were passed up by multiple teams. There was no way of knowing who would be good. I would understand if they were touted as the best WRs in the draft but they weren’t
@@iamlegend5373 me and u both know the eagle should of take Jefferson no offense to reagor but it was a stretch. For dk one of our own coaches side he was special and the eagles did not listen.
@@iamlegend5373 Uh the teams that passed up DK didn’t need a WR, the Eagles did and they blew it. And if you genuinely think Reagor was somehow touted by scouts to be better than Jefferson than you are joking. Justin Jefferson was one of the top receivers in his class and ended up being the the top receiver in his class. Howie Roseman is an idiot and the Eagles are a joke
i can’t wait for wentz to ball tf out with the colts next year. for the entire season last year wentz looked like mahomes did in the super bowl: as soon as the ball was snapped he had pressure in his face and there was nothing he could do. the line was absolute trash, and the receivers were no better. any eagles fan who watched every game last year, like myself, already knows this.
I think Doug Peterson was a part of why Wentz fell apart but the fact he got fired after only one truly bad year is just stupid. I’ve got no problem getting rid of a guy for a great candidate but does anyone really think that Nick Siriani is an actual upgrade?
Well, pretty much everybody had a terrible 2020 and a 4-11-1 season with EVERYBODY having a terrible season after 3 straight playoff appearances with 2 of them being those barely making them 9-7 seasons. The fact is Doug was done. He could only muster up 1 double-digit win season. That's is pretty pathetic if you think about it for a Super Bowl-winning coach. I think he benefited heavily from the coaching staff he had in 2017. By the time of 2020 most of the Super Bowl coaching staff besides himself, Schwartz, Duce Staley, and Jeff Stoutland was gone. Plus, his scheme was terrible and he called the plays and for those 9-7 seasons were had slow offenses that were boring and the play-calling did not help. It just seems very predictable and he was unable to adapt to the whole no-OC thing.
@@thephoenixxm4160 oh I agree he had a very good coaching staff round him. Frank Reich really made that offense great during the 2017 season and ever since he left that offense has suffered massive regression

He was consistently trying (because he had to) to play hero ball last year. Now he has a roster and coach that will allow him to let the game come to him. I’d say there’s a 10% chance he really is broken, a 60% chance he’s a quality starter, and a 30% chance he’s back to playing like an mvp.
Eagles fan here. Imo drafting Jalen Hurts was the beginning of the end for Wentz in Philly. All the issues brought up about his mechanics and the players around him are true, but when a player's confidence is shot he has nothing to fall back on. Unfortunate truth.
2019 Wentz is probably the new norm. 2017 being the ceiling on a loaded team and pre ACL and back injury. 2020 being the result of a poor injury riddled team around him and playing hero ball to over compensate for having no trust in the coaching. What he did in 2019 was pretty incredible considering he was playing with practice squad players during that 4 game winning streak to end the season, that being said he played against a 2 win Giants team twice and a 3 win Washington team, the first Giants game hanging on in OT and then did just enough, along with a stellar performance by the defense to get past the Cowboys who are known for their December collapses. Had a nice signature win at Lambeau early on and was the first qb in history to throw for over 4k yards with no WR having over 500 yards. Overall I believe did not perform well enough to warrant 128 million dollar contract in the 2019 offseason. Never won a playoff game, injury prone, his best season proved that the team itself was so loaded they could win with a backup, taking something away from his MVP caliber 11 game performance.
But Carson is going to be an MVP candidate in 2021 with the Colts. NFL expert analyst Dan Orlovsky told me so. To me personally Carson is a broken QB. He's Blake Bortles 2.0. He won't even come close to being MVP in 2021 and he won't last long in Indy either. He was considered to be better than he was in 2017 and ever since then, anyone that has him on their roster has been chasing that high to no avail, because he was never that QB to begin with. And arguably his 2017 season was a detriment for him and his development. He was already a hard headed individual. After that portion of a season, he thought he was truly an elite level QB. So he stagnated. He refused to adapt. He refused to learn and get better, because he thought he was already the next Aaron Rodgers. And the power he had over the front office in Philly and with the staff just caused his head and his ego to grow even bigger. This lead to his mechanics never improving significantly and his flaws continuing to grow. Here's a fun stat for ya. The much maligned Eagles offensive lines as of late that Carson had? Actually didn't have that bad of pass blocking grades. Carson made them a lot worse with his poor mechanics and decisions to hold the ball far too long. Playing under a better offensive line won't automatically fix his poor mechanics, his inability to handle pressure, his waning athleticism or his tendencies to hold the ball too long. And Frank Reich won't fix all of those things by himself either. Carson regressed, but he was continually regressing since 2017. And Foles Super Bowl run was another hit on his psyche, but it hurt a lot more than it would for other QBs because Carson was not as mentally strong as he appeared or as he said he was. A mentally strong QB, would bounce back and use Foles's run with his team as a motivational tool to continue to hone their craft and prove that they are the unquestioned leader of their team. That never happened. Just like Carson never grew to be a true leader of men. And I honestly doubt he ever will. It seems to not be in his makeup. You can't teach players to be leaders. They either are or they are not. Regardless, of what happens next for Carson, it will be an interesting chapter to see unfold in what is already a memorable tale of avarice, ego and self destruction.
@Matt I agree I think overall Lurie is a good owner, but he’s starting to meddle into the football side of things. Howie is good when it comes to the cap aside from the recent issues and he’s made some good deals via trade. However that man can not evaluate talent to save his life. They’re both control freaks which is a big reason Pedersen is no longer there.
@Matt yup we all thought they were going to be on top for a while, welp we’ll see what Jalen Hurts can do with a full offseason under his belt assuming they don’t take a QB at 6 lol.
@Matt I think there’s some truth to him being a bad locker room guy. With that there’s also been players that have come to his defense, to me it’s about agenda whether the source or the person getting the info and writing the article. Ultimately I think he was no different than any other QB, Russell Wilson wasn’t loved by everyone in that locker room a couple years ago but he was balling so it wasn’t an issue and Seattle did the right thing and weeded those guys out and got rid of them to bring the locker room on the same page. I also don’t think Pedersen helped at all, but he also didn’t get a ton of respect from the GM or owner. Ultimately I don’t think Carson got him fired I think he was tired of the treatment he was getting. So much went on this year it’s hard to comment on it all lol. I think they’re all to blame tho like there’s no innocent party involved accept maybe Hurts lol.
Eagles fan who watching this let me put my spin on it before your video. He got injured during a MVP season and got mind broke watching Nicky Foles performed some sort of black magic spell to be good at football for half a season. Also, the SB team was built by Chip Kelly who everyone craps on in this city, I'm a Chip truther!
may not of been the main issue but it was certainly a problem. when you're under pressure as much as he was you start seeing ghosts even if they're not there
The pocket was never clean at any point. What were you watching? It wasn't Eagles football season 2020. The Eagles offensive line is old and often injured. I watched Dalvin Thomlinson & Dexter Lawrence throw several Eagles lineman to the ground with major force. These guys destroyed the Eagles oline from the trenches. Count themselves lucky the NYG didn't pay Thomlinson who's with the Vikings now. Those 2 were a super powerful duo of destruction.
i know it was just a part of the intro and not at all part of the main message of video, but i was at the Sooner game that the schooner tipped over. That shit was crazy its been like a year and a half and is till cant believe it.

(I’m a bills fan so no bias here)
Which means Wentz is calling the plays wrong
@@Chris-xt8io wentz didnt call the plays smart one
2 of the 3 megaruns they had Carson audible into them.
Very well said, Cameron
I think that at least from an athleticism standpoint, Wentz still has it. I don't see the decline in athleticism at all, in fact I think he looked the most athletically capable this season since the 2017 year. It was the arm, decision making, mechanics, and play calling that let him down
The o line was injured and sukced, no Frank Riech, had no good recievers, and his confidence was shot. Thats why.
The guy lost the locker room. They didn't want to play for him. I believe this is why.
and his mechanics. They were bad from start and never improved.

Wentz has no excuses now with the Colts
He's got a better O-line, a receiving core that can make a catch and Frank Wright.

Lmao, unbelievably stacked

Lol Spokompton in the building. The 509
This is perhaps the best analysis of tragic Wentz saga in Philadelphia.
Annheiser Busch built a statue of foles, not the eagles or Philadelphia
Also Wentz is weak minded
It’s validating that somebody is finally addressing this topic
I'm not a Philadelphia Eagles fan, but, I'm willing to go out on a limb & say "It wasn't completely Carson Wentz's fault that the 2020-2021 Philadelphia Eagles were a bad team.".
In my opinion, it was a host of other things--not just Carson Wentz.
Well Wentz hasn't done much to prove you right
Let’s see if you get it.
Damn that $20 grand would probably pay for one whole mechanic visit for that Bentley.

Fan of the teams/players you are talking about more often than not feel that you've been fair in your assessments. And, people that do care a lot about the team/player are drawn in by your quality analyses and can draw parallels to their team or favorite players.
Carson wentz killed Carson wentz's career.
Ah, here it is.
This video didn’t age well. Wentz is now looking for his fourth team and the Eagles are rolling into the Super Bowl.
I don’t think he’s good at all but it doesn’t help your qb when you draft jj arcega whiteside and Jalen reagor over dk metcalf and Justin Jefferson
Half of dk is better than jj arcega white
And reaching for reagor who u could of got later was stupid instead of take the best wr in that draft class

I think Doug Peterson was a part of why Wentz fell apart but the fact he got fired after only one truly bad year is just stupid. I’ve got no problem getting rid of a guy for a great candidate but does anyone really think that Nick Siriani is an actual upgrade?
Well the Eagles are a lesson on how to take a team that has a chance of winning multiple super bowls and then running them into the ground

In some ways I see the same thing that happened to Jimmy G. He never seemed to get his confidence back after his ACL tear in his second year with SF.
He was consistently trying (because he had to) to play hero ball last year. Now he has a roster and coach that will allow him to let the game come to him. I’d say there’s a 10% chance he really is broken, a 60% chance he’s a quality starter, and a 30% chance he’s back to playing like an mvp.

Lmao. The Colts are totally getting fried along with the Texans in the AFC South this year. They’re finished 😂
I’ll be honest I think he’s gonna thrive for the colts. I hope he has a great new chapter of his career

I hope this man tears it up with the colts, he’s still a good qb.
Lmao
Hell yeah bro! Loving all of your videos you're constantly stepping up your game.
Looking forward to your next vid!
The real problems are still in Philly.....Howie Roseman and Jeff Lurie.
The Eagles OL wasn't the issue considering he led the NFL in interceptions with a clean pocket, per PFF
may not of been the main issue but it was certainly a problem. when you're under pressure as much as he was you start seeing ghosts even if they're not there
Yeah but you would also have to consider ptsd
The pocket was never clean at any point. What were you watching? It wasn't Eagles football season 2020. The Eagles offensive line is old and often injured. I watched Dalvin Thomlinson & Dexter Lawrence throw several Eagles lineman to the ground with major force. These guys destroyed the Eagles oline from the trenches. Count themselves lucky the NYG didn't pay Thomlinson who's with the Vikings now. Those 2 were a super powerful duo of destruction.
