    FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this adaptation of Ian Fleming's 1955 novel, James Bond (Roger Moore) must thwart Sir Hugo Drax (Michel Lonsdale), who plans to wipe out all of humankind and replace it with a super race that he has cultivated in a massive space station. The girl in the case is American secret agent Holly Goodhead, intelligently played by Lois Chiles. "Jaws," the steel-mouthed henchman played by Richard Kiel in The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), makes a return appearance in Moonraker, turning good guy (complete with a girlfriend of his own) in the process. Bernard Lee makes his last appearance as "M" in this most costly of James Bond's 1970s escapades.

    Director: Lewis Gilbert

This movie came out in the year of my birth. I must have been around 8 years old when it was aired on TV in my country and I saw it for the first time. To me, this was one of the most entertaining movies of my childhood. I remembered many scenes for years after that evening, and especially as a child, you couldn't escape this wonderful campy mix of over the top comic reliefs, great action and special effects, a story about life and death of everybody on earth ... and actually some tense moments. That final chase for the satellites, when Bond uses the manual crosshair to fire the most important shot in the history of mankind (story-wise) ... I replayed the battle scenes and that finale dozens of times with my friends. We just LOVED that movie. There are good movies out there today, but I miss that kinda innocent sense of adventure and the courage to span a wonderfully ridiculous story like in this flick here over two hours and trust for the audience to get hooked. I miss the feeling that maybe, once in your life, you could become such a hero and end up with your crush sailing towards an endless sunset in a spaceship. I miss the feeling I had as a child, that there was a chance in life that could happen. A small one, sure, but as a child ... you kinda believe it could happen. And now, 35 years later ... I am sorry, I think I have to mix myself a Martini right now ...

The best, the first time I've watched this movie I i didn't understand (and don't mind) those double entendre until I got older...
It makes me roll on the floor laughing when I first realized and understood the meaning of those sentences/words. Even now it still make me laugh with such cleverness , and sense of humor put into the script, along with the accuracy and perfect timing of those humor and the clips.
    What a classic!

Whilst critics love to dunk on _Moonraker_ for its myriad of ludicrous plot holes, contrivances and implausibilities for me the whole film is instantly redeemed by the best line ever uttered in the entire franchise, and perhaps cinema itself:
‘I think he’s attempting re-entry sir’. Inspired (no sarcasm intended). 😁

Back in 1979, could these have been some spooky predictions of future events? Here we have Dr Goodhead saying “We’ll break up at 200,000 feet...24 years later...the space shuttle Columbia broke up at that altitude. Then the word MALFUNCTION appears, and seven years later: “Obviously a major malfunction”.

The scene was filmed in November 1978 in France. The apparent weightless British-American romantic encounter was filmed with two forklift trucks. It's not zero gravity in France, or not often. The weightless couple were filmed at high speed, and the film later slowed down, to give a sense of weightlessness.
There should be a zero gravity bottle of champagne, and two glasses, in the shot, but I can't see it?
