FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this adaptation of Ian Fleming's 1955 novel, James Bond (Roger Moore) must thwart Sir Hugo Drax (Michel Lonsdale), who plans to wipe out all of humankind and replace it with a super race that he has cultivated in a massive space station. The girl in the case is American secret agent Holly Goodhead, intelligently played by Lois Chiles. "Jaws," the steel-mouthed henchman played by Richard Kiel in The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), makes a return appearance in Moonraker, turning good guy (complete with a girlfriend of his own) in the process. Bernard Lee makes his last appearance as "M" in this most costly of James Bond's 1970s escapades.

Sad to hear, I didn't know that. Really, he was one of the BEST villains in the Bond movies. So avaricious and ruthless, with a HEALTHY dose arrogance! What more could be asked of a villain in a James Bond movie?

Albert Broccoli decided to film "Moonraker" instead of "The Spy Who Loved Me" due to both the success of "Star Wars" and "Alien" as well as the (at that time), the anticipation of the first planned Space Shuttle mission in 1979 (which did not happen until 1981).

@@weatherman3216 Yes! Too bad they couldn't do that for Die Another Day; have the station be in outer space like Icarus was. Though I do like how it was quite thrilling the way James Bond and Jinx had to escape from an airplane that was already breaking down from being stuck in Icarus' heat and Jinx saying that at least they were gonna die rich. Besides, I don't know if the diamonds General Moon/Graves had can last in outer space though the lines Pierce Brosnan and Toby Stephens spoke would've made a little more sense in outer space; "Time to face destiny. Time to face gravity."

I reckon Jaws loved being on the good side for once.
What I loved the most is when he revealed he actually could speak. When he was silent all that time, it wasn't because of an impediment, he just felt that action was always better than words - something unfortunately a lot of other villains like Drax didn't follow which cost them their lives.
This was actually my 1st 007 movie and man have I loved ever since then

@@khafo4143 nope. space death isn't as dramatic as hollywood makes it out to be. the extreme pressure drop does lower the boiling point of liquids, but not if they're contained in a pressure vessel like your cardiovascular system. you would start bloating after a while due to expanding gasses, edema, etc. but long after death by hypoxia. oh yeah, and after that you'd become a popsicle forever floating in space of course.
He would have died, in a few seconds on the poison dart anyway

Am I the only one that enjoyed Michael Lonsdale bringing this great character to life in the fashion that he did? I liked this movie a lot. From the opening, to the theme, to the meeting with M, and through all the action sequences. Great stuff. And Roger Moore with, "take a giant step for mankind." LOL love this.

You’re not. I love this movie, cheesiness and all, but both the production design and Michael Lonsdale’s performance are first rate.
This came out 2 years after Star Wars and it still has that feel to it.

Roger Moore was definately the most cheesy bond as well as the more heavily comedic, but you cannot deny how charming the guy was. The man OOZED style.

If you're ever in the Southeast Tennessee area you might still be able to find the wrist gun at the Hollywood Star Cars Museum in Gatlinburg. They had a small collection of Bond guns and props when I was there last year.
Returns it to Q and gets a lightsaber in the next film.
