    FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this adaptation of Ian Fleming's 1955 novel, James Bond (Roger Moore) must thwart Sir Hugo Drax (Michel Lonsdale), who plans to wipe out all of humankind and replace it with a super race that he has cultivated in a massive space station. The girl in the case is American secret agent Holly Goodhead, intelligently played by Lois Chiles. "Jaws," the steel-mouthed henchman played by Richard Kiel in The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), makes a return appearance in Moonraker, turning good guy (complete with a girlfriend of his own) in the process. Bernard Lee makes his last appearance as "M" in this most costly of James Bond's 1970s escapades.
    CREDITS:

He finally saw just how that, not only Drax, but other evil People he'd worked for, never saw him as a true friend, but as a killing machine. It only took one look at his new love, Dolly, to realize that. He realized, too, that he'd been trying to kill the only new true friend he'd ever had, even though they'd been enemies up to that point. Jaws made a smart move here, by becoming a good guy, and fighting the forces of evil, rather than being evil himself, anymore!
Sometimes, all it takes, is some love!

Live and Let Die had excellent performances from Roger Moore and Yaphet Kotto, Moonraker will always be my favorite Roger Moore bond film, and Moonraker along with Saturn 3 from 1979-1980 are the most underappreciated sci-fi films of all time. I also love Michael Lonsdale, Richard Kiel, and Farrah Fawcett. Michael Lonsdale as Hugo Drax was a great bond villain, Richard Kiel as Jaws is my favorite bond henchman, and Farrah Fawcett was an amazing film actress in Logan's Run and Saturn 3.

Slowly it dawns that Bond & Goodhead had to be tempted to join the select as inheritors of the new Eden. It's perfectly balanced against the epiphany of Jaws that in that brave new world there was no place for him and the happiness he'd providentially found. The ending of Moonraker is amazing: The highly implausible survival of Jaws and his mate symbolize the highly implausible survival of the human race.

It's funny how For Your Eyes Only was originally going to be the next film after The Spy Who Loved me then they decided to do Moonraker. So we have the rising popularity of sci-fi films in the late 70s to thank for bringing us Moonraker. Roger Moore's second best Bond film in my opinion 😉😉

This movie and the spy who loved me are two of the best Roger Moore Bond films. Roger Moore is at his best in both these films. These two movies also in my opinion have the two most sinister, evil bond villains of the whole series. These two movies are best seen in a cinema theatre. Where you are transported into the world of these super wealthy elites like Karl Stromberg and Hugo Drax. Bonds side kicks XXX Barbara Bach and Dr Goodhead Lois Chiles are great too. Both these movies were great escapist entertainment and still great to watch today. Best scene on big flatscreen tv to give the cinematic effect of the cinema.

It’s interesting that everyone assumes Bond is right about Drax having no place in his perfect society for Jaws and his girlfriend. Consider the fact that Drax had used resources to bring them up to his space station despite the fact that Jaws main purpose, namely the elimination of threats, was finished and Drax thought himself untouchable and free to carry out his plans. Jaws is massive and terrifyingly strong. Why would Drax not want those genes in his new society? Ultimately, if Drax had spoken to Jaws in a placating and reassuring manner then it’s unlikely Jaws would’ve defected.

Master M yes Star Wars A New Hope was released in 1977 in which Bond Producers used Star Wars as their inspiration for Moonraker to bank on Star Wars Success. Originally For Your Eyes Only was going to be after The Spy Who Loved Me but they decided to do Moonraker instead and bring back Jaws as producers were getting heavy fan mail etc to have Jaws return. Moonraker did have its success but producers decided next Bond movie would be For Your Eyes Only and have it be darker in tone and more low key with less gadgets and mild humor. Alien was released in 1979 same year as Moonraker actually Moonraker was released before which was in May of 79 and Alien in June of 79.

Well, it probably gave her the idea with the parachute. A reversal of the opening scene in Moonraker. Rather than taking a parachute from the guy like Bond, Natascha put one parachute on Yelena. Btw, it seems Dreykov's base which floats high up in the sky and is never seen on radar sort of mimics Drax's space station which can't be seen by radar either.
I'd say it's a nod to films which were meant for entertainment by being larger than life and having megalomaniacal supervillains.

@King Dark Drax was American. In the film he was based in LA and had all building materials for the chateau imported from France. He was so wealthy he wanted the Effiel Tower transported as well but was refused permission by the French government. He makes a sarcastic remark to Bond when they first meet in reference to "tea" something that the British have made a valuable contribution to western culture. While supposedly based in LA l believe actual filming of the chateau and grounds were in Europe.
