FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this adaptation of Ian Fleming's 1955 novel, James Bond (Roger Moore) must thwart Sir Hugo Drax (Michel Lonsdale), who plans to wipe out all of humankind and replace it with a super race that he has cultivated in a massive space station. The girl in the case is American secret agent Holly Goodhead, intelligently played by Lois Chiles. "Jaws," the steel-mouthed henchman played by Richard Kiel in The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), makes a return appearance in Moonraker, turning good guy (complete with a girlfriend of his own) in the process. Bernard Lee makes his last appearance as "M" in this most costly of James Bond's 1970s escapades.

For a secret agent James Bond sure attracts a lot of attention!
You know how they have drug mules, right? They entice a dumb schlub with a few thousand, send him with some drugs through customs to attract attention and get arrested while the main shipment slips by. I think it's similar to how MI6 would use a James Bond.
Heh, true! Cheers...
more like a public agent now~
@ Alex Rodriguera: That's why the CIA doesn't want James Bond types. They're too easily remembered.
"James Bond is a series of espionnage movies" (makes me laugh everytime :D )
2:39 I like how everybody (including the pigeon) are giving all these over-the-top reactions, but the dog's just looking at Bond like "Wow. Didn't expect to see that".
That is doggo version of Yoda.
Bad guys: "YOU CAN'T GET AWAY FROM US, BOND!"
James Bond: "Hovercraft go BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR"
**GONDOLA** **NOT** **HOVERCRAFT**
Hands down one of the most hilarious moments in the series. Ironic considering this is kind of a dark entry in the series. Love how Bond is so casual as he rides along.
For me this was the lowest point in the franchise until Die Another Day. The character had become a complete joke in this one, any subtly or wit was gone, it was just gag after gag. Any believability or realism was totally lost and it was trying harder to appeal to kids. The Spy Who Loved me was much better.
i watched this a couple nights ago and busted out laughing when the assassin knifed the gondolier. why did he kill him? so unnecessary and then he misses bond after lmao
@@lw3646 This was probably a necessity at this moment. We are in the 80s, movies were becoming less serious, kind of humoristic auto-parody... Thanks to Moonraker, a new public also discovered and liked Bond. This is also the sthrengh of the saga, which was able to adapt to various period and develop different styles and present different kinds of movies :)
This is why I love Bond.
2:00 This is why no one has killed James Bond. It's impossible to beat someone who is literally prepared for everything.
He’s dead now.
@@mr.x8259 yeah but no one killed him tho
Ahhh Moonraker! In those days, Bond was pure entertainment! Simply the best way to wile away the hours and end up with a huge smile on your face! Cheers, Roge! :)
The look on the dog's face was classic.
ROGER MOORE HAS DONE SO MANY CLASSIC BOND MOMENTS
I really prefer the old Bond movies over the new ones. And this is one of my favorite movies!
RIP Roger Moore, the only Bond who rode a gondola on wheels, went in space, wore a clown costume and fought Christopher Walken on a blimp.
and who traveled 2 new Orleans, and fought Christopher lee in a gun duel.
And had a horny Lynn Holly Johnston throwing herself at him.
Not on wheels. It was a hovercraft.
Drove a car on train tracks (Octopussy), hung from a firetruck ladder (A View To a Kill), hung from the side of a flying helicopter (For Your Eyes Only), drove half a car (A View To A Kill), chased a plane on horseback and held on (Octopussy), fell from a plane without a parachute (Moonraker), drove/jumped across a twisted bridge (The Man With The Golden Gun), even evaded a missile in a small plane (Octopussy)
Only Bond to drive an amphibious car as well
Love the way the distracted waiter kept pouring the wine all over the customer. O, for the days when movies were pure entertainment. 🤣
BTW, the guy that has champagne poured all over him is director Lewis Gilbert.
lol😂😂😂😂
The guy at 02:27 looking at his wine bottle, I think was the same guy on the beach also looked at his wine bottle in the Spy Who Love Me scene when Bond Lotus Esprit seen emerging from the water.
They flew him in to Venice to look at the wine bottle?
@@augustvong7057 Yes (he was the 2nd unit director). That scene has a lot of in-joke people in it, Mr & Mrs Brocolli are in it, too.
I love watching the old bond movies, they just don't seem so serious, they have more humor built in and some science fiction elements
When your girl gets mad at you because you take a trip to Venice and all you talk about is this scene.
Lol
I in venice now and shes sick of me going on about this scene 🤣🤣
You talking from experience? 😂😂
Pure entertainment and beautifully filmed for about the first hour, Moonraker could have been a Champion!
I love that dog after the Pigeon scene 2:39
Lmao that dog is like😑
wine drinker in 3 movies lol
Dog's just like "What. The. Hell?"
I believe his official name is "Noble-Looking Dog."
@ 007 Beck: I know, the dog 🐕was thinking ' huh? '
this bond film probably has the most funny scenes of them all
At 2.35 they've edited a pigeon to do a double-take. They just don't make 'em like this any more.
Jim High My dad walked out of the cinema in 79 at the point of the double-taking pigeon. But I think it's funny
Thank God !
yea they played it backwards and forwards a few times and all of the film crew are doing the little scenes, they must of had a lot of fun with this.
@@snowbelle74 your father sure has(had?) common sense, '70s Bond films were cartoons, your father probably grew up with the better/more serious Connery films, amd I right?
Joan Ruiz Jacob Agreed. My dad was a fan of Connery’s toughness and he also loved the grittiness of films like The Ipcress File. I think the Bond films have been really good at moving with the times and I have no real strong preference over favourite era/ favourite Bond etc. Maybe Dalton or Craig? I didn’t like Spectre particularly. Perhaps I’m ageing now 🤷♀️
Roger Moore will be missed. One of my favorite bonds is now in a better place.
George Alvarado I
George Alvarado I
Why can't we make movies
like this today ..
That guy smoking at 1min 13sec realizing his future
2:36 Double taking pigeon FTW!!!!!!!
Those letters backwards also work
I watched James Bond when I was a kid and loved it but I don't remember so much comedy in it. I love it! Ha!
I don't know what's more confusing, the fact that Drax and his men thought that this would be the best strategy for killing Bond or the fact that MI6 thought ahead for such a situation and provided Bond with a motorised/inflatable gondola.
02:38 The Dog is like "I shall not Believe this crap..."
No one will accuse this movie of taking itself too seriously.
The villain's gun is MP-40 , standart weapon of the German army during WW2
So the coffin assassin will never make it trough the bridge even if he succeed?
The rest of his knives were for rapidly cutting a tunnel.
Hahahahahahha lol
why did he kill the gondolier? he murders a random dude then misses his next throw.
RIP Roger, you rocked the safari suit...THIS is what as a kid with your dad is what a Bond movie was all about
One of the most over the top bond scenes of all time. Still like it tho
Love Barry’s orchestrations here, probably the best of the franchise.
What’s the music?
I actualy watched that movie, one of my favorite Bond Movies.
Beautiful Fun-Family-Bond times with Sir Roger.
2:28
That guy with the wine when he saw it, he'd be like...
*"I gotta lay off the wine."*
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fantastic RM , smooth operator, great humour . Rip
This was my first James Bond movie and the gondola scene was definitely one of the funniest in the film.I can still remember the theater filled with laughter when the pigeon appeared, followed by the dog and the people, all because of a gondola turning into a hovercraft 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This movie was unbelievably campy, but I didn’t know it when I was watching it at 10 years old!
"Campy"? As in setting up a camp?
Rest in peace Sir Roger Moore
The Old Man at 1:13 gets me and my Dad dying of laughter
From now on I will show and this video clip (and the other with Robocop) to smokers that protest because we are against smoking and they call us fascists ! NO MERCY ! 😁
Alfie Bass from 'The Army Game'
I never thought I’d see a blinking bird in a James Bond movie!
Best James Bond ever The Favorite of My Late Mother Love these early James Bond Movies with Roger Moore Today's James Bond Movies are nothing but crap BTW Love The Doggie at 2:39
2:26 this is the same guy reacting to the Lotus emerging from the water onto the beach in The Spy Who Loved Me.
That dog makes me crackup laughing every time.
That guy chocked at the coffin was a classic !
The coffin-man looked competent with all that assortment. But didn't get much screen-time ...
When I was visiting Venice I recall this great scene, so of course I went to some of the places we see here....
no288 me 2 😄
Heck I looked for this video specifically because we are going to Venice this year haha
Well, the major part of the scene takes place in Piazza San Marco, I guess everbody who has visited Venice has been there.
I forgot how silly and slapstick some of these old bond movies are... thanks for the upload
I remember the scene here because it was so cool and comical, because I remember watching James Bond getting caught on the line of fire while in his gondola, and then I remember seeing him turn that gondola into a speedboat, and then later on changed it into a hovercraft, which featured a pontoon coming out from underneath of it, and then it came up on dryland, and started riding across the sidewalks of Italy, and all of the people were so shock, including the animals like a pigeon, and a dog who saw this gondola out of the water, just sliding across the pavement of the city here which was so funny, because I remember seeing the two guys that was shooting at them because the speed boat in the water, he just pulled off leave in one man behind in the water and refill into it because that was funny too.
Another action packed movie from Mr Bond, James Bond
That dog's face sums up my feelings about this entire movie.
Don't let anyone ever tell you the Italians doesn't know how to have a spectacular funeral.
@ Martin S: Don't forget the Irish!
We do...have wonderful funerals
Imagine working at Q branch:
Ok, what do we have to build today?
A gondola.
Ok. Any machine guns or ejector seats?
No, make it into a speedboat which can also turn into a hovercraft.
This is for James Bond, isn't it?
I am Italian and this has to be one of my favorite movie scenes in the world! I find it hilarious!!
Idk why, but the old man choking at 1:10 is really funny to me
Such a fun movie.
The best bonds were connery and Moore.
No-one else since comes close.
Way too serious now.
The Bond series jumped about 15 sharks in this one scene alone.
...and nuked a fridge with a double-taking pigeon sitting on top of it
Thank god they improved it with fyeo
Nah. They really jumped the shark during the CGI Wavesurfing sequence in Die Another Day.
In this scene, the franchise *became* a shark.
MY FATHER WAS LOOKING FOR THE HOLY GRAIL, DID YOU KILL HIM TOO!?
old4mat if you don't let go dr. Jones we'll die!
Young Gladney My soul is prepared!
@@WaqarDepp how's yours?
OK WE’LL DIE
"THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE"
"NO, DOCTOR JONES. ITS YOURS."
I liked the expression on the dog's face.
Just a reminder this is not a comedy film! James Bond is known for his outlandish sense of humor and jokes!
IT'S THE FACT THAT HE RODE IT THROUGH THE SQUARE WITH A STIFF UPPER LIP THAT HELPS CEMENTS THE SCENE
WHY DID YOU GO BETWEEN THEM!
YOU SAID GO BETWEEN THEM
I SAID DONT GO BETWEEN EM!
ROGER MOORE, THE BEST BOND: WAS, STILL IS AND WILL EVER BE. RIP; SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE BROTHER.
That was very funny where the casket floated under the bridge and the guy who was smoking 🚬and coughing got the message and threw his cigarette 🚬away. Also, the reaction of the pidgeon and the dog 🐕 when they saw Bond driving a gondola on land.
Hahahahaha this is wayyyy over the top
2:30 Tom & Jerry's soundtrack 😂
What name song ?
@@777riq Strauss - Tritsch Tratsch Polka
Pigeons doing double takes. Awesome.
"I mean, there's a shot of, like, pigeons doing double-takes when the gondola blasted by! Moonraker is inexcusable!" XD
After Spy Who Loved Me, James Bond took a dive for seriousness. i liked it
There are more inconspicuous ways of killing someone than as a knife throwing reanimated corpse.
Thanks for uploading this!
0:30 Hahahahaha 😂😂😂😂😂
I'm here cause Gavin mentioned this in YDYD and I didn't believe him. Gavin, you didn't disappoint.
A fellow AH fan in the wild, I can’t believe it! I know exactly what video your talking about.
Who is Gavin and what is YDYD?
RIP twice 0:27
Was that one of Q's creations or courtesy of the Italian Secret Service? Probably MI6's Station V (as in Venice).
I really doubt the italian s.s.
Back in those days we had a pretty much troubles...licio gelli, P2, poisoned coffes, orgies in the Vaticano, the Circeo massacre, Aldo moro killed, bombs every now and then, Ustica. AND THEY RESOLVED NOTHING. N.O.T.H.I.N.G.
@ElisaRavagnan
Are you expecting a foreign to know the Italian political situation of the time? Also, it has nothing to do with the question he made. And i dont see how crimes such as the massacres of the Circeo or even orgies have anything to do with the Italin secret services. But even if they were involved in all sorts of troubles I fail to see the reason leading you to to say "i really doubt the Italian secret services". You think the English services didnt have troubles og their own? So your answer is a total and utter fallacy.
so far fetched but awesome all the same
Pure Moore, elegance personified
The dog's face is: "Am I really seeing this?"
Was that Alfie Bass as the guy with the cough? And couldn't they think of anything else for him to do? Still, he got an all-expenses-paid trip to Venice out of it.
Walter Pidgeon made a cameo appearance in this movie.
2:27 lol that dude again
2:36 The infamous double take pigeon.
So, the guy in the coffin was a knife throwing zombie?
One of the daftest points in the Roger Moore Bonds. Carry on Bond more like..
The most Roger Moore Bond has ever been and I love it to death
Beautiful Venice
To all those who hate on this scene I say 'FU I think it's hilarious'
IT WAS A IGEON, A IGEON!
I want that Venetian Hovercraft...
2:36 😂
21 October 2021 13:00 🕐 - 22 October 2021 9:18 ⏰?
The Gondola turning into a hovercraft then driving down st marks square which surprised a lot of the public.
Perfect Anti-Smoking and Anti-Alcohol Commercial = 1:13 ; 2:28 !!! XD 😂
2:27 here from Limmy's Twitch stream
Roger Moore @ James Bond got kidney stone during the filming of Moonraker.
Oh that's why critics hated it.
Better than Austin Powers. What happened to crazy humor in Bonds?
They're supposed to be action movies, not comedies.
@@moodyguymick preach; and the original novels were like Philip Marlowe but with grander action and more sex
@@moodyguymick you can have both, comedy and action, in your movie
Someones always after bond ! Lol
0:23
Not even if that coffin punk were a Barzini could stop James Bond.
One of the most ridiculous scenes ever in the entire Bond series.
LastCommodore
Kind of but this is one of my favorite Bond Movies
LastCommodore and loads of fun
Sean Connery passing himself off as a Japanese fisherman is more ridiculous.
commdo
@@CrassMufumbu I agree. And sadly that did that same scene but the other way around with Zao in Die Another Day. Both terrible.
I was just thinking of this scene not to long ago.
Who is the guy who looks at his bottle in disbelief. He was also in The Spy who Loved me and did the same thing when the Lotus emerged from the sea.
he is in for your eyes only too in tg
he Ski chase
He was one of the production crew.
