I don’t think any Christian denomination or any other religion is more misunderstood than Roman Catholicism or the Orthodox Church. Very unfortunate.

HI Lizzie, I had a born-again experience at a protestant church and attended for the last 20 years. Funny thing is I baptized my two kids because as a single mom i felt they would have a better education if they attended Catholic schools. They have both had their first communion and the oldest is now confirmed last year! Now I'm researching the Catholic church. God works in mysterious ways!! haha!

I know an ex-Lutheran Minister who converted to Catholicism and had to quit his job, retrain in school for a new career, and bring his whole family to Catholicism. He's a Catholic professor now. Its a huge leap and you have to be brave - but I think that is what Christ wants us to do for Him and the truth.

I have a large number of Protestant friends who investigate deeply the Early Church and the Church Fathers, which I as a Protestant am now investigating. May God guide all of us to the truth.

35 years in Calvary Chapel. The hate against my daughter's food allergy pushed me out of there. The church fathers lead me to the Catholic Church. Seven years Catholic this Easter. Point being, if one has the true desire to love Jesus above all things, he will leave all things for Him.

I am a Protestant , but I totally agree with you on the sola scriptura thing. When I was at winter church camp , we talked a lot about traditions and the Catholic Church , and theology and whatnot. One thing that was brought up is the traditions of modern non-denominational churches. Such as we sing a certain number of songs at the beginning , we have the message in a particular place. I was even in a church that had donuts for everyone every Sunday , and one Sunday for some reason they didn’t have donuts and everybody flipped! And another thing that was brought up was the whole “this is my seat” thing. In most churches , you have a chair or a pew that you always sit in you know? And if somebody takes “your” chair people flip the heck out. And there is no “youth lock-ins MUST happen” verse in the Bible. And we went on to talk about how we say we “only follow the Bible” but a lot of these things aren’t in the Bible. I mean seriously , if there is a verse about donuts , I sure haven’t heard it! Lol. Yes , I believe that we should teach from the Bible of course , but without traditions, even modern Protestant churches wouldn’t function. Sorry for rambling , just thought I should share. God Bless! <3

I grew up Protestant, but by God's grace, I have been led home to Orthodoxy. I've been going to a Western Rite Orthodox parish in my town since August 25, and it is by far the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me. Now one of my most fervent wishes is to see my mother and father walk through that door, some day, to join me and my brothers in the fellowship of our Lord.

I remember hearing a story of a saint that had visions and shared these visions with a humble man. They saw thousands of demons over a house and the next house over saw only one demon. The humble man replied to the saint..."see that house with many demons over it must be evil and the one next to it, as it only has one demon, must be pious_" But the saint replied...."An evil abode takes very little for it to succumb to temptations and therefore only one small demon does not have to work too hard to turn them away from God. But the other house, with the thousands of demons outside its door, is a pious house and even thousands/millions of demons work hard to turn the pious tenants evil with no avail."

As I convert to Catholicism, leaving the Lutheran Church of Australia, it is sometimes difficult to articulate the reasons why. This video has been a great help.

This is so true. There are so many prejudices against the Catholic faith that are driven into our minds as Protestants. I've wanted to be Catholic for 25 years, but it was...the only word I can think of is "forbidden". In my family, it was inconceivable to be Catholic. I'm 40 now and I'm finally doing it, but I know I can't tell my family til after it's done. And when they find out... I don't even want to think about it.

Watching this video, I think I realized why you suddenly got so much attention when you converted to Catholicism. There have been "famous" converts before, but you have a unique perspective. You're very academic and intellectual, but you're not totally immersed in that to the point where your reasoning is inaccessible to the average listener - you're very accessible and good at articulating ideas simply. But you're also highly empathetic, so you understand and sympathize with people's feelings very easily, both Protestants and Catholics. Thus, Protestants listening can more easily connect to a Catholic perspective because they feel linked through you, and in the same way Catholics can connect with Protestant points of view, and we can understand each other a little better.

I’ve always wondered what it would be like for me if I grew up in a Protestant family. As someone who grew up in a Catholic family I thought it was normal to pray to Mary. (To pray means to ask) I thought everybody did that!

In my opinion (and probably other people believe the same) but I think the Church founded by Jesus Christ is the Catholic Church. And when the Protestants say it is a man made religion I think Jesus is disappointed because they don't know the true church.
